[Q] new to droid/ app help - LG Thrill 4G

So i read all these things about different operating systems and things for the phone? you will have to excuse my ignorance as i dont know much about this stuff. What should i br doing to get the full capabilities out of my phone? i switched from iphone 3gs and love the thrill already. some people are refering to thriller? ice cream sandwich?? what are all these terms?
i have some standard apps i cant log into. like my banks and other username pswd sensative apps. is there a setting that i need to change to allow me to log in?
Please help? once again, sorry for the ignorance!

Thriller is a custom rom that some people install in order to make the phone run smoother and to remove a lot of the carrier bloatware and icecream sandwich is the next operating system for android device and as far as your bank check the market maybe they have a app for it u should be able to login from the browser

You can also install LG Optimus 3D Roms too, but you lose 4G. Forgot if they were to fix it. Look around. So yeah anything in Development section will usually be custom Tom's, but you need to install Clockwork Manager on your phone. Follow Designgears tutorial in Dev section. Icecream sandwich will be available probably by December for us.

Have people had any troubles flashing the O3D roms? I like the Thriller rom for us but was wantin to try a new one.

O3D roms will flash but no 4G and usually mms doesn't work even with correct apn. Other than that I think they run just fine.

Literally the only thing that doesn't work is 3D (and probably 4G). Its super stable, great battery life, and is faster than any of the other roms I've tried. For anyone willing to live without 3D its definitely something you can run as a daily driver.

[Q&A] Ask Me Your Hero Questions!

Hey guys, thought I'd start this thread so that people have a place to ask me and the XDA community about all questions concerning Cyanogenmod nightlies and RCs. This is for people with Cyanogen on their Hero, so to everyone who has questions out there, fire away and I'll answer

First try upgrading the radio. See my signature to do that. Also, use Rom Manager to fix permissions.
EDIT: Wait a minute, do you even have an Android phone or are you on Window's Mobile?

Not anything major. Compcache has been made available, but if you have Decad3nce's kernel installed then you'll have that already. Also some of the customized notifications have been taken out from Cyanogenmod settings I believe due to incompatibility. Overall, RC1 is still more stable.
well seeing that you opened this nice new thread, How about sprints nfl app. Is there a way to flash this app on cm6 like we did with visual voicemail?

What you need to make that work is to install the Sprint updater app as well along with it. See this post to get it going
Actually, there are all kinds of little things I like better in the nightlies, like the extra reboot options, touch to focus like on htc camera, being able to connect to ad-hoc networks, setting the colors of my email accounts - too much to list.

trouble updating
I'm running RC1 with gapps and black mod, with the circle battery theme from black theme as well. I have trouble betting past boot when I update, i.e. I am running Aug 15, when there have been a couple of updates, I think it's on Sept. 4th right now. I have updated all the themes to the corresponding RC1 release, and won't boot. I will add that I'm not wiping as it says you shouldn't have to. Bootloop! I can even go back to the previous version (Aug 15) with out wiping reapply older themes to go along with that release, and it loads right up! I get to the point where I don't even like to f$#% with it anymore because I get tired of going through the work of flashing like four zips for notta!

Ok that's the problem... obviously on the new nightlies, the kernel is default and uncapped, hence your random reboots. Use set cpu or the battery tweak to lower your max frequency from 768 to about 710, that way you avoid the random reboots.

Miui Rom on the hero?

Okay I was bored and I was browsing YouTube and I saw this crazy Rom on higher end phones from China called Miui it combines ios with Android and it looked really nice and I was wondering if it would be possible for this Rom to be ported to the hero

Okay so if this only requires a resizing of images. I have a relative that is a programmer and he said he could do it. Does it require more and if so, can you give me a guide pre-made so I don't waste your time and maybe we can get this Rom.

Netflix on the market? for stock 2.2 no less

So I downloaded netflix from the market, and it says in the list of supported devices that the HTC Thunderbolt is one. Now it does install and accepts your username password, you can see your qeue and it attemps to play the vid, but fails with a DRM required message. any one else seeing this? if you search for it it will not appear, but if you select apps, all apps, free apps then scroll down its listed. click install and try to enjoy a mostly usable app.

it will never work on stock or rooted froyo for the thunderbolt (at least not without netflix directly supporting it). person that said it did on that forum is full of it. amount of effort to make it work would not be worth it. GB will be out soon and nearly everyone has it already on here. Anyone who wont root to get netflix obviously doesnt want it bad enough

Ok ok, im not a dev, but.... Look at the LG Revolution. It is running 2.2.1 and netflix runs perfectly out of the box. in my ignorance, I dont know why it would be any more dificult to modify it to work with other froyo devices. Im sure one of the software type bullys will pick me appart here.. By the way... XDA isn't a friendly place any more. boo to flamers... (will probably get flamed for that) HA

Netflix does NOT need GB to function, it appears as if it needs it for the TBolt but not overall. That being said they made Droid Bionic support available so take everything with a grain of salt. Maybe GB will be coming soon and rather than fix issues with the TBolt again soon they figured set it up for GB and users can use it then (and root users now ).

LG Thrill ROM Suggestions?

Hey guys I just got my thrill today. I don't know if there is any rom's currently able to run on this device but I do have the source code downloaded and plan on trying to create a rom but has there been a full back method found yet like tegra2 devices have nvflash?
Best of luck. Waiting for it.

You can make nandroid backups available through CWM, check out designgear's thread
Edit: Oh yeah, and my suggestion for a ROM? I would love a ROM that comes debloated, deodexed and zip aligned (just for easier theming - that does make theming / sharing themes easier, right?), has the speed tweeks/optimizations available for the Optimus 3D, obviously AT&T radio, and if I can dream a little, several more preinstalled fonts, LP or a psuedo gingerbready launcher, and some light theming with some matching backgrounds* and a matching bootup animation. A kernel that allows for OC would be nice to have I guess, but I can't imagine using it to be honest; the battery life is so bad already.
Good luck!
*If you know what colors you're using, I'd be happy to find or create matching backgrounds and/or a boot animation if you want.
If Possible and a big IF considering I have yet to see a device not HTC Branded that uses Sense but Would love to see a sense type Rom IF possible. Also would love an OC kernel considering battery isn't really an issue for me considering I am Always by a power source, that and I sit at home all day lol. Even if I didn't I would probably Underclock and Undervolt for battery Life than OC at night when I got home and wanted to do stuff on the phone.
I am looking through everything for the LG Optimus and I'm scouring the Texas Instruments site to see if I can find something there.

PORT: ICS for Vibrant SDK14 based DEVELOPMENT ONLY

Ported to Vibrant but same issues are present. awesome that it is available to play with though. I'm exicited now.. Gonna be testing a bunch of stuff over the next little while.
Used the vibrant modems and boot from LE-5.1 from Miui..
EDIT** VIBRANT DEVS ONLY http://www.multiupload.com/W3IAL52ICH
I TAKE NO RESPONSIBILITY FOR THIS RELEASE ALL I DID WAS REPLACE MODEM.BIN and BOOT.
FLASHED AND WORKED BUT SAME ISSUES REMAIN PRESENT.
Original Post from i9000 thread.
Please note the version posted will be a proof of concept version, and IS NOT for daily usage nor for people unknown to flashing etc.
It is being posted for development purposes only, however Lttldvl and I wish for this to be an open community, and which for other developers to help fix the issues that are still present.
The rom DOES NOT currently get passed the lockscreen, as touch sensors and screen resolution need fixed.
Edit: using 2 fingers or back key and menu key will get you past lockscreen.
This is a product of open source, let's see what WE CAN ALL DO with it..!

Exactly the same process as MIUI or CM7

True, but it is interesting.. Since it was posted in i9000 forum I thought I would send it over here since I was really excited.. I think something can be done as far as fixes.. I will keep watching the other thread and update this one as updates come out for the i9000.
Soon we will have ICS for Vibrant! It Is Possible!!
Yeah, good find, man.. hopefully a talented dev can look into it more for us Vibrant users.
By the way, here's the i9000 thread link for people that want to read more about it; http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1324556
