i'm a newbie and dont know much about flashing.
If iam going to flash the cm7 do i need to
-root my device?
-Remove all my files from the sdcard?
-What are the advantages of this ROM?
-And if im going to the phone information setting there it says that the baseband version is S5570XWKQ5 and on the ROMpage its says that only FIRMWARE S5570XXKPI OR XXKPL OR XXKPK is allowed so what can i do about this?
Advanced thanx
1. No
2. No
3. Speed, funcionality and other things.
4. Flash your phone to stock GingerBread firmware named S5570XXKPI etc.

yes, all custom rom is rooted
root will be inbuilt in cm7. u dont need to do anything except for flashing.
u may remove files if u r planning to do a fresh partition.
fast with root, adhoc support, fast, a2sd support.
flash to one of the required baseband versions. available on "sam firm ware . com"
To get the best of cm7, Odin your mini with kxxkpk first. Then odin with cwm. Partition your sd with cwm. Then copy cm7.2, oc kernel, and darktreamor to your sd. Flash your mini with the file you copy in cwm. Between flashing, wipe your data and cache. Use no-frills and a2sdgui for settings

You don't need CM7, but it is preferred.
I flashed to I9000XXJVP, then with CWM, and then install ICS from there.
Here's a good tutorial. It depends on your model, I think. Maybe someone knowledgeable can help.

Hello Galaxy S Community, I have just purchased a Galaxy S and its coming with android 2.1 stock. I wanna know, whats the fastest and most stable rom for the Galaxy S and whats the fastest and most stable kernel for the Galaxy S?
Edit: I just updated it to 2.3.3 JVN Via Samsung Kies but I am no noob with odin, i just wanted to update via kies .
For stock rom the best kernel is the Sempahore kernel: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1112908
Form CM7/MIUI you can you the glitch kernel: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1041532
There are most of kernels, but for stock rom the semaphore kernel is better

I definately dont wanna stay on stock touchwiz cause i dont like the interface. What do you think about the 4.0.4 roms? Does all the hardware work or is it in alpha/beta? What about ICS Kernels? Should i flash ICS or flash a Gingerbread rom (CM7, etc)? Sorry about all the questions but there are so many roms/kernels that I just have no clue which one to use.
You could try latest CM9 nightly with Semaphore 1.2.2 or latest mnics or Devil kernel.
After 3 or 4 circle battery charges I'd think it will offer to you good performance and good battery life, but I'm supposing it.
Try them and after that tell us about
I hope it helps you!
I m using ics333 no bugs, good ram management, good battery life my first rom after buying galaxy S

Flash the ROM with.pit, let it reboot then boot back to download, flash the root kernel, let it reboot and you are on rooted ROM, copy nightly, base, essentials and gapps to sd card, then follow instructions for flashing sequence, after, if you want semaphore download and flash that, make sure you use the s version as slim has the large ram patch

Reboot Into Recovery.
Wipe Cache.(Flash Jbroid Cleaning Script is Optional)
Flash Kernel (Whatever version you want to install..
Reboot System...
Speed mod 3-7 is better then 3-3 and 3-9 because of black clipping in videos.
Speed mod 3-9 is better on 404 if you use Bluetooth, cause it works only with 3-9 on 404

i always used OASP ROMS mostly of PAm very good but now i did see a touchqiz rom online with multiple windows support etc. I sure wanne give it a try. Does anyone know which ROM is stable and safe wiht futures like this:
Also, im on ParanoidAndoird with PIE, and on utackas kernal. Can i just wipe rom and flash trough cwm or is it safer to get back to GB and then reroot and thenm flash with cwm?
thnx in advance
utackas and cm kernels are safe. Try Ultate XXLSC v.5.1 by joosh3.

The kernel you're flashing before installing Rom doesn't matter since with v4 will be replaced by PhilZ 3.1 for XXLS7
