Currently using gingerdx v14. When someone calls the dialer app hangs and thus cannot see answer reject slider. Entire screen goes black and unable to even see who had called up. I am facing this problem since v13. Before that everything worked perfectly fine. Does anyone else face this issue. Tried reinstalling and factory reset for both versions bt didn't work
how about factory reset it before the installation and then factory reset it again after the installation.

Every time I update I make sure to factory reset including formatting system so as to avoid carrying forward any bugs or issues. No problem till date
Just learnt that same problem is being faced by a friend using samsung ace manufacture rom unrooted.
What could the problem be?
I experienced it one time by myself on v14.
Now i moved to v15 and using GO things (launcher, contacts and dialer) - not happen to me again.

Hope somebody can help me with this problem. I bought a game (Riptide). The game just worked fine. As I wanted to try Modaco MOD I did a Backup of my apps with Titanium Backup and flashed the ROM. To my surprise does the game not work on the mod. It complains that the License check failed
Has anybody a clue what to do? For now I switched back to Stock Rom and the game just works great...
Solution:
Make sure your Date and Time Settings are right...
Uninstall/reinstall from market.

Nah, that doesn't fix it, if it's the same problem i had.
I had the same problem a while ago, where the license check fails, and it happened even with game's bought after it started happening. I made a thread about it somewhere.
I just waited a while, changed ROM a few times and it eventually started working again. It started happening, and started working again on CM7 ROMs so i don't know if it's ROM related or not.
If the games work for you on stock ROM then it probably is
reinstall
clear the data and cache from Settings -> Application -> Manage applications
force close
and run it again
then try restoring data back from your titanium (Data Only)
Still not working. Clean made no difference. By the way i am using the modaco rom.

I got it now with Big Bang Racing, done a full wipe, format internal and external memory, fresh rom and still didnt work
EDIT
My date was wrong, altered it and now working
Stupid me. Date was wrong and I didn‘t notice. Thanks for the help.

Hey,
this problem started only today and has never happened before. The only things changing were some app updates and a few new installs. I already uninstalled all of the apps installed in the last few days in hopes of reverting the situation but it didn't help. And after I made the first reboot when the apps began to force close randomly it looked like a semi factory reset was made. All my contacts are gone, there are no SMS/call logs, but all SMSes, pictures and videos are still there. If I try to open the Market app it asks me if I accept TOS, Gmail is not set, mobile internet is not working (due to reset settings), Wi-Fi and bluetooth settings are still there. In short, everything is half-fuc*ed.
What do you thing happened? And is there any possibility I can go back to a normal state without starting from fresh?

Go into Recovery and Fix Permissions, then reboot and see if that has fixed the problem.

Oh yeah, and another thing. Market, Youtube and Maps apps where all a few version lower than before and started updating immediately after opening the Market app. Market still is (even the old design and everything). How can this be?

i9000 random loss of data
Yes, this is a rather old thread I'm trying to revive here, but as it is adviced to continue those instread of duplicating them, here are my issues:
I gave my i9000 to a relative ~a year ago and recently it started acting strange. About 1-2 times a month I get a call from that relative saying: "I get a lot of force closes, phone is unusable, nothing works". I then walk over, take a look and yes, unusable. It appears that all information in the /system partition gets lost for no reason. The relative told me that this usually happens when some google apps are updating, but it might still be random.
Currently MackayRom (latest) is installed.
Usually when I got the call, I hopped over to my relative, did a factory reset (wipe of /system and /data + Cache and Dalvik Cache) then reflashed the ROM and Gapps and everything looked good again. Sadly the issue continues to return.
What I tried so far is a complete wipe of anything, reverting to a stock TW Rom, and going back to an AOSP Rom from there (first CM 11, then Mackay). The issue appeard to be gone afterwards, I didn't hear from that relative for an unusual amount of time, but after a month or 1 1/2, it returned.
My guess is, that one of the chips that are containing the /system partition is broken or at least close to die (I'm not sure if it is just one or multiple chips, since the CM Team or Pawit himself changed something in the partition structure somewhere between cm10, cm10.1 and cm11 to ensure the compatibility of that old device with KitKat). Anyways, I'd love to hear any ideas or suggestions on how to solve this issue (although I reached a point where I think that solving this isn't possible anymore, unless I wanna swap the Mainboard, which would mean paying an amount of money that I could get a new phone for as well.) Soon as I have the time, I'll Odin-flash the latest TW Rom to the device and have my relative use that for a while, just to see if the different/older partition structure helps in any way.
Thanks in advance for any replies .
Hi Everyone.
Following on from my question this morning asking this question I have more time to be specific.
My note is unrooted and I downloaded to ICS 11.06.12 using Kies. Everything seemed to be going well except for the fact the phone just keeps switching itself on and off. For example; the screen is off, I want to check the time or date, by pressing the home button the screen switches on, all fine there, but then 7 out of ten times the phone then reboots. It has done this during calls, using apps and playing games when my son uses it.
Does anyone else have this issue or better still anyone have an idea why it does it?
Many thanks

He says he's not rooted so there's no option to clean dalvik.
Also wiping cache under ics can trigger superbrick. Either install Speedmod kernel and wipe dalvik and cache, or downgrade to gb, perform full wipe of all, the upgrade again.

do not use recovery unless you are on safe kernel. All ics stock kernels are unsafe. Downgrade to gb rom or install a safe kernel than do wipe/factory reset. All the instructions are present in this forum read carefully.
People!
Before you answer some of the questions here on this thread... do take a notice first if this is a fresh question posted by OP or not!... This question raised by the threadstarter was dated -10th July 2012, 08:49 PM. Now seriously... You think he would have this issue till now??? this post is nearly almost 2 months already!!
Geez!!
I have been running doc's master v12 for a few months and have had very little issues with it. Just today I started getting a messaging has stopped error now I am getting all sorts or errors. Exchange services has stopped, contacts has stopped, the play market was continuing to stop but seems to be working now. Apex launcher has stopped. I'm not sure what to do. I believe I am running the devil kernel.

I think I have resolved the issue. I uninstalled all recent apps that updated in the last 24hrs and the issues seem to be resolved. I believe the problem app was wootwatcher.

I spoke too soon. Everything is stopping once again.
Try rebooting in Recovery and do "Fix permission" and see if that works. If it doesn't then reflash Doc's V12.
Also why do you quote yourself??

I'll give that a try, thanks. Will reflashing wipe out all the apps and data I have on the phone? Should I clear cache before reflashing if I go that route. Just trying to get an idea of what I need to backup before reflashing if I need to do that.
I was just clicking on the first thing I saw that said reply.
I went into CWM and ran fix permissions now my phone won't fully boot. It gets past the ATT logo and the ICY Glitch v14 screen but has been stuck on the animation for over 15 minutes now.

I think your "/datadata" folder got corrupted. Do a "Clear data/factory reset" like format your "/data" and "/datadata" and reflash the rom.

Thanks, I tried reflashing without formatting the system but it still hung on the animation screen.
Formatted the system and then reflashed and all is well.
Hey guys wanna check if anyone's experienced this and if anyone has a fix for these issues.
Firstly, after rooting, I noticed that I always get a message saying "Android is upgrading" every reboot. I've tried foxes suggested in other threads of other phones but it doesn't seem to work. Anyone experiencing the same thing?
The second issue is upon changing the dpi in build.prop to 320, the phone.apk and dialer in contacts.apk messes up in the sense that there is no call button. I've used App Settings to change the individual dpi of each app back to 480 but the call button is not restored. Only when build.prop is 480 does it come back.
Anyone can help with the above issues? :/ can't find anything in the forums about these.

Which ROM are you using, because almost all of the ROM installs advise to factory reset and delete cache etc, in which case I don't think you should not get upgrading apps message on first boot.
Something is not right with your delvik cache, this normally only occurs when you clear your delvik cache. I would suggest backup, factory reset, reinstalling a ROM, then root.

I'm on stock. I only rooted using Bin4ry's tool and that was all. The only things I did extra was flash black soft keys and flash White Balance with TWRP. I've done a full factory reset before, even using PC companion to repair and re-install the firmware but this still occurs.

This is the same as "wiping dalvik" in CWM or TWRP right? Doesn't seem to work. I've re-flashed the firmware and the root doesn't seem to give any issues. It's not TiBu like other threads for other devices have mentioned either. I think it's Xposed that caused it. I used it to install App Settings which lets me change individual app settings. Will try it out again and see what happens.
EDIT: Okay it seems to be the flashing of the soft keys to make it black.
