Possible to repartition internal storage? - Motorola Droid Bionic

Is it possible to repartition the internal storage to have more available for media?
I have no intention of buying the Webtop or otherwise using that interface. And I wouldn't mind sacrificing a little bit of that application space (maybe half of it) for media.
The current ceiling of 8GB + 32GB external isn't bad at all for a phone, but if I could eek out another 4 GB or so, I'd be a lot happier. I'm right on the threshold where I can't quite carry all the music I'd like to with me. (yes, I know about google music, and that's a so-so solution to this problem).

Movies Play Choppy!!! Where'd i go wrong???

Hey Guys(and Gals just incase i didn't see ya ),
i gotz a prob...But b4 i start, let me say if i type alot it is to avoid you getting frustrated and me being a rEtArD and not covering all my bases on this end!!!
i upgraded my ROM on my Cingular 8125 to faria's new WM6 and otherwise it runs great. But here's the thing, All my movies are choppy i.e. i hear steady sound but all the video patches/glitches. Being the bold and steady nerved being i am(kidding) i decided to use my editing programs to shrink the files and see if that worked but to no avail. so what do i do and if possible is there a thread that i may learn from to cover any other media player problems that may arrouse?
Did you try overclocking? That may help. Also, did you try more than 1 video player? TCPMP seems to usually work better than WMP.
Yeah i tried it. Faria's rom comes with some overclock program and i tried using it but it didn't make any difference, well not much at any rate. ANd i really need to fix this as i'm kinda defending the pocket pc name(childish i know) my friend just got his Iphone and is trying to show me up after all the work i did fixing and fixing up my wizard(cing. 8125) . so i gotta get it to work! i will also try another program as well... by chance is Real Player any good? Oh yeah before i forget, is there anyway the fact i have a 2gb card be part of my problem? i read some thread on here that some PPC phones have a hard time with 'em.
Try overclocking to 247 mhz and see if that helps, anything under that probably won't make much of a difference and 247 mhz seems to be the safe speed that most people overclock to.
I've never tried real player, I've pretty much always stuck with TCPMP. Theres a setting in the options that will use a larger buffer size for movies on your SD card, you might try checking that setting and see if it helps at all. It's under options-->settings-->select page-->buffering.
Wizards don't usually have problems with 2 Gb cards that I know of, it's the 4 Gb cards that have all the problems. One other thing you might try if you have a card reader and that is to stick it in the card reader and use windows defrag on it.
The only other thing I can think of at the moment is maybe it's the format the movie is in. My best success with movies has been using divx.
One other thing that I just though of, did you try shrinking the the video size to 320 x 240 instead of it's original size? That should speed it up quite a bit.
i decided to do the tcpmp and it got better and i ran the omap to help but the video still freezes up periodically. Is that usual and if not what else can i do as i already tried compressing the vid format and defragged as you requested?
Wait...Wait... i think i got it i increased the buffer size to 29000 dunno if that's safe tell me quick. but it is working. and if this fixes it i can tell you right now that Iphone ain't got S___ on us!!!!!
Increasing the buffer size shouldn't cause any problems. I'm guessing you already know that by now though since you posted that over an hour and a half ago. Make sure when you run video that there's nothing else runnign in the background. Either using x-button or going to the memory app in settings will tell you if anything else is running and allow you to shut it down.
yeah i did. thanx 4 the help Xeno, that TCPMP fixed the prob rite up and it didn't cost $700 either. now on to finding some good programs... games esp. any suggestions???
Glad I could help. I can't help you a whole lot with the games cuz I don't have all that many. Try these links, they have tons of stuff you can download - http://www.pocketpcfreewares.com/en/index.php and http://www.freewarepocketpc.net/ I would also suggest cLaunch - it let's you put links to your apps and games directly on your today screen and also BatteryStatus - if you don't already have it. Both you can find easily by googleing for them.
I noticed the same problem after upgrading to WM6. I haven't tried in quite awhile, so I don't know if different ROMS really make a difference or not, might have to try it to find out. I will try the buffer thing too, overclocking never really seemed to help much.
sweet
also know the speed of your sd.. i've had a cheapo $15 2gb x80 from ebay for a long time and it works flawlessly.. always use tcpmp.. I recommend a killer program called lathe.. you canfind it 'around'
http://www.omniquiti.com/store.php
well it's great you got the video smoother by increasing buffer size, but you have to realize that the iphone will always own our wizzards in terms of video performance, since their video cards are miles ahead of ours (which is why their photo browser with 3d flickering runs so seemlessly). I'd just be happy with having mediocre quality vids stream fairly smoothly on the wizzard, but I sure as hell wouldn't brag or compare it to an iphone.

Mine is a 150x Ritek. Never had any performance issues from it. Quite the opposite, in fact, when I've put it into my card reader on my PC with an adapter.

video playback

I know i've read with ram hacks games are slow, what about movies? I watched a movie from my phone for the first time and it was pretty good (office space) a little lag. I have a class 6 card if that matters.....
I believe that movies should also lag when you are using 10mb ram hack...this hack takes all the memory that was for video, and uses it on other things, so it should also afect the video playback...
Think as if you take out your video card from your PC, what its going to happen? Everything that is involved with the video card is going to be affected, because its not there anymore....something like that...
Srry for my bad english, but i guess you get the point...
Ok cool thanks. The lag wasnt too bad. Thanks for the reply btw.

[Q] Thinking of purchasing SP

Hi there,
I'm thinking of getting an Xperia SP to replace my Galaxy Nexus (which is starting to die :crying
Before I purchase, there are a few things about the SP I would like to ask:
1. How does the storage work with a microSD? On the GN, I had ~13GB with which to fill with anything I want. I would like to know if I am able to have apps stored on the microSD?
2. How is battery life in your view? My GN has terrible battery life now, but I would like to know what to expect when I get my SP.
3. How is the display in terms of viewing angles? I have read a lot reviews stating that the view angles aren't great...
4. I've also read that Mcafee antivirus is preinstalled. Is this true, and if it is, would I be able to get rid of it WITHOUT root?
5. What colour SP do you have, and why did you pick that colour? I'm torn between getting a white or black one
Thanks in advance :good:
1. You have 5,8 GB phone storage + microSD card up to 32GB. You can move an aplication to SD card but you must use program (app2SD or other)
2, If you use a lot of Wifi/data connection battery is emptying fast, but in normal use phone stand 2-3 days (look at my battery stats)
3. View angles aren't great but they aren't the worst
4. Yes in stock rom you have Mcafee antivirus as preinstaled. idk how to remove it (i have custom rom)
5. I have black and it's the best of them (you can choose from white, red and black)
it sucks, dont purchase it, my phone with everything turn off, gsm only, no wifi, no bluetooth, no gps, screen brightness lowest,
no apps installed, less than 1 minute on screen time, no sim card, standby time is only 2 days until the battery reach 0% from 100%
Help please, it's already half a year i had this problem, and why no people or any helper on this forums wants to help me out?

without root u can just disable the bloatware(mcafee......)
I love this thing. I don't have wifi problems. I don't care about viewing angles as when I'm using the phone, I'm staring straight at the thing.
Yes you can remove McAfee without rooting. I still rooted, however, in order to remove some of the other bloat. I didn't unlock the bootloader. The tutorials here on rooting are easy. I didn't have a problem.
My battery time ROCKS, in my opinion. I use it normally (mobile/wifi web, txt, calls, facebook, check news/weather... take some pictures and vids, listen to music during my commute, a little gps here and there, track jogs a few times a week) and I get a little over a day which is great for me.
Yeah the display is a bit white in the home menu, but when I look at pics/videos it looks gorgeous in my opinion.
The pictures I've taken with it are gorgeous. The camera responds very quickly too which I love.
The music sounds fuggin awesome, to me. I'm no audiophile though. I jog with it or use a tape deck adapter in my car.
Not to mention I think it's damn sexy! That LED bar at the bottom with a band of metal around the edge... I have the white one and love it. I get comments all the time.
For what I want it to do, it's perfect. This has been my favorite phone so far. I don't play any games on it. I use my tablet for that.
1. youll get approximately 5.37gb of storage + microSD up to 32gb. No you can't move apps to the SD card unless you root it and do some process i don't understand. Apps2sd don't work with this particular phone, ive tried many of them.
2. the SP has good battery life at 2370mAh. I can get it to last for ~30hours straight on average (texts, calls, wifi) to heavy usage (intense games, wifi, data)
3. viewing angles arent really great. it gets too whitewashed (i dont know if this is the term, but it gets all too whitey) when viewed at slightly skewed angles. but hey, who cares. i doubt if youll use the phone not looking directly at the screen.
4. yes McAfee comes preinstalled, but you can uninstall it like a normal app (no root needed or anything)
5. i got the white one. black looks boring for me

Looking for a successor or upgrade for my Samsung Galaxy Note SM-P900

Hello World,
I have been working (and sometimes labouring) with my trusty work horse tablet SM P900 for almost 18 months now. And despite numerous disappointments (USB OTG w/o charging?!), it has been a mostly satisfying ride.
But since more than a few weeks now, I am starting to notice a slow down in memory intensive applications. It is almost as if the interal storage is acting up whilst reaching its EOL.
Actions that are not CPU intensive at all seem to be hanging, until all of a sudden they break loose and everything seems to be working normal again - until next time. And this happens more and more frequently. I tried to "trim" myself out of this mess, but by now I can't see any real difference here no more.
I tried in vain to find a replacement board for the internal storage, but alas replacement parts for the P900 seem to be very, very hard to obtain in the first place.
If anyone here has some useful suggestion, then I all ears (BTW: I have been using a slimed down custom ROM from day one and I am very picky about what apps I allow to run in the background. So its absolutely no SW issue).
Now I am also willing to entertain the idea of a new purchase, but try as I may I could not find a worthy successor to the P900. Samsung itself seems to have given all but up on this line and all the competition doesn't life up to my expectations.
These are:
1) It *must* be running on USB 5V power - anything else would be a deal breaker for me.
2) It should be running on an ARM CPU, but I could do with an Intel as well.
In any case, it is ARM based, then there has to be some custom Android ROM available for it (I hate stock bloated stock firmware).
It it is Intel, then it needs to have Linux support - somewhere out there!
3) The Display should be HD and somewhat comparable with the P900 specs.
4) The unit must be tablet capable, best with notes like stylus support. So now fixes keyboard and the like.
5) For ARM/Android based RAM must be 3GB minimum and internal storage 64GB min.
6) There must be an option to insert an extra micro SDXC card (deal breaker).
If anyone knows of a manufacturer who can match my desires, I am very much open to suggestions right now.

Question Should Network connectivity deteriorate a lot in 6Mo Time?

Places that used to be able to Connect to my key apps and sites quickly now Laaaaag.
My Storage remains 1/2 full. Have about 150 apps.
I clear and clean items regularly with Google Files.
Big thing is I have huge On Screen times. I move around a lot and basically use my device as my Computer.
Any solution to the degradation in the degradation in connectivity times?
Thanks
I am also having this issue, and i have actually been uninstalling apps this whole time, i installed them all at the beginning.
I wonder if the radio is ****ting out on these because samsung has obviously cut a lot of corners on this phone.
i have a note 10+ and it's So much better than my ultra, faster, has onboard storage, more ram.
I bought the ultra because they don't sell the note series anymore, or that's what i was told when i went in to waste $1,300 dollars on this piece of crap with a nice camera.

Then you can stop some unnecessary apps running in the background and give some rest to the device, so it won't lag badly.
I don't understand your issue mate.
Can you more precise ?
