-Turn off the phone, reboot into bootloader mode (power+up on the d-pad)
-Look to see which version you have for your bootloader. Then you want to go to http://android.doshaska.net/rootable and download the SBF for your bootloader. This will enable you to root the phone and install a custom recovery called "OpenRecovery".
-Download the latest version of RSD Lite and the latest version of the Motorola USB Drivers. Place your SBF file on the root of the C drive, and rename it to some one letter name like a.sbf
-Put the phone in bootloader mode, launch RSD Lite, plug in the phone and it should appear. Select your SBF and start. If it all passes, your phone should reboot.
-Once that is done, you want to place OpenRecovery on the ROOT of the SD card. I suggest using FuFu's MiniMod. Once that is done, you want to root the phone. Turn the phone off, and hold power+x, when you see the Motorola M, release the keys and hold camera+volume-up instead.
-You are now into recovery. Using the d-pad, select "apply update.zip", you are now loading up OpenRecovery. I recommend you do a Nandroid backup before you root, and you can do another one after you root.
-Reboot the phone, now you should have Root. If it isn't already installed, install Superuser from the Android Market. This will enable you to manage what can use root permissions.
-Download TitaniumBackup (or MyBackupRoot) and backup all of your applications to the SD card. Anything that is on the phone's memory and not on the SD card will be WIPED.
-Download the custom ROM that you want to flash. For CyanogenMod based ROMs, you will need to flash Google Apps as well. Place them both on your SD card, under OpenRecovery/updates
-Once you are sure that everything you want saved is saved, turn off the phone again and reboot into recovery.
-Select the Wipe Menu and wipe dalvik cache, cache partition and then data(in that order)
-Now navigate to Apply Update and flash the ROM you want. When that is done, wipe ONLY the caches again, flash Google Apps if you need to, wipe caches again.
-Navigate to the miscellaneous menu, and select Change Baseband. Choose the baseband for your country/provider, so you can get 3G.
-Reboot the phone, and you will see that it is taking a longer time to reboot, which is normal because you are booting up a new custom ROM for the first time.
I think that sums everything up If you have any questions don't hesitate to ask.

If you're looking for an easy (but non-permanent way) of rooting, try Univeral Androot: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/20401155/UniversalAndroot-1.6.2-beta5.apk
Keep in mind, that root access will be lost upon reboot and has to be activated again

I believe you're mistaken. I rooted my phone using Universal Androot and have to two other Milestones. I'm pretty sure there's an option to choose a temporary root or a permaroot that you would only lose if you reflash a stock SBF.

I know there is such an option - but somewhere I've overheard that a permanent root wouldn't stick to a stock Milestone.
Seems like I was mistaken - but due to this 'misinformation' I never tried to permaroot using UA.

Hi again
I have a question, I got to liking the game Inotia 3 ---
I followed your instructios on rooting and all and I'm satisifed with it...
The deal is the game force closes when I start it. What should I do about it? I used the ROM (CyanogenMod) you suggested.
is there anything that I should do?
btw: super thank you for your instructions... i really like the rom and it's fast

Were you able to play the game before you rooted? If so, then try using zeppelinrox's memory management script called Supercharger(you run it as root in the app "Script Manager")

is this the one? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=991276
Is it right that I have to download the zip file and just put it in the root? and then i own't have to do anything?

I just use the V8 Alpha Milestone version. You place it anywhere on the SD card and browse to it using Script Manager.

No need to use OpenRecovery. All you need to do is download Script Manager from the Market, choose the script on your SD Card, Run as Root and voila!

do you suggest the v8 already? It's only in Alpha while v6 of the supercharger is already in beta

Yeah, it's very small. Not going to take up much space on your SD.

I then decided to try and restore my apps via TB, and it doesnt let me batch anything, see anything, etc. It's like I don't have root. Then I tried getting root explorer and it FC's on opening the app. WTF?

This is because you didn't read my post carefully. You should have a EXTERNAL SDCARD in your device first! Because the recovery cann't mount the internal sdcard.

There is another way to check whether the root of your device work or not.
Run cmd in Windows or terminal in Linux.
execute the following cmd:
Code:
adb shell
su -
After you input the "su -" cmd, you should have a dialog to allow root access in your device. I.e, the root works. Otherwise, it doesn't work.
BTW, does your device unlocked and flash the HKTW android 2.3.4 rom?

TOO bad, the zip file should be flashed as the normal way to flash rom.
GOTO recovery then choose this zip file to flash.
BTW, you should copy the zip file to the external sdcard first!

Hey, I'm seeing a better responsive stock browser after the update.
The issue is discussed here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=873364
The scroll is now usable on pages with big images which wasn't the case before.
I'm so happy, I have a working stock browser again.
Anyone else see the same improvement?
Also do you know of any other bug fixes?
this is OTA update not Full ROM

I did it OTA style and it did not remove root for me. Weird.
Although I'll have to flash CWM again, it seems to be broken.
So, the root is possible on the new version 2.3.6 with the update.zip of chendd ?

I'm wondering the exact same thing.
Tried to flash the update.zip thru CWM but it gives an error. Is this normal?. Maybe have the "stock recovery" is a pre-requisite to flash an OTA update. If not, perhaps I missed something to do.

It happened the same here. I think it would give the same with the stock recovery, I already tried. I restored the very first backup I done right after rooting and it worked flawlessly. Maybe this happens when we give root permissions to apps that don't deserve them
However I lost root and I just re-flashed the superuser zip file.

Nope. I tried what you did. Also pushing the app via dab. Deleting data and cache then deleting the apk and pushing the new one. Every time it said the app could not be found cause it was not installed.
Anyone else have any luck with this?
The only other thing I can think of is replacing it in the rom zip file before flashing.
Can anyone extract the boot.img for 2.3.6 and post it up?
I kind of did something silly and need it!
Previous boot images do not work with 2.3.6.
A
Never mind, sorted!
PS: Just used the superuser file and have successfully rooted 2.3.6 and installed CW Recovery 5 too.
I know the dangers, but **** it, I like having root access!

I'm glad to hear I wasn't the only one confused by those instructions at first . My first assumption when reading all these posts were that V4 V6 and V7 were hardware versions of the Revo and you were suppose to download the Gingerbread TOT in correlation to your hardware. Here's what You need to know. They are just software update versions.
V4 and V6 are Froyo
V7 is Gingerbread.
Install V7 and you'll be all set

[Q] Easier way to root and install CWM for LG black

Hi guys
I recently brought a 2nd hand LG black.
This rom is totally stock, to be precise, it is a Hong Kong version v20
Since I want to improve the battery life and have a more defined rom.
I would like to root and install CWM for my LG black.
Up to now, I have downloaded a few kdz from the subforum.
I have little experience before with LG phone, Last one i played around was LG P500. I remember last time i could easily root the phone by super1click, and then install rom manager from play store.
And from there (play store) i install CWM recovery.
I would like to find the confirmation from you guys that
Can i go for the same path again, super1click>rom manager>CWM recovery??
Thx in advance!!
Read my how to and find all you neeed

I realised the way you suggest to install CWM as exactly as mine.
But you only suggest to use SOC to root for 2.2 devices
Is there any reasons I should not root a 2.3 by SOC?
Actually SOC is always the most comfortable way to root for me
Hope you can share some

Read post 3 about how to do it yourself and follow the youtube video guide mentioned there. It's really easy and safe.
To me:
Easiest
- Smartflashtool flash v10a
- Use mass storage for phone
- Download Gingerbreak.apk
- Transfer to phone mass storage
- Install app
- Root
- Open Play Store
- Download ROM Manager
-Flash CWM
Voila
Easiest but slowest

Hmm, complicated. Why not:
- Smartflashtool flash v20n that has CWM inside. This is the procedure.http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=23788913&postcount=170.You only need the V20n,0,s (any of them) in fls/bin format.
- Flash Superuser.zip in CWM
- Done.
thx everyone
finally i got it!!
now using zeus v7, very cool rom!
But one last question, can i use the same smartflash with patched .bin method to revery to stock if i mess up something.
for example i am on cm9 and i wanna go back to GB, or i have to repartition my phone just like other brands like samsung.

G930T_PG1_Stock_DeOdexed_Debloated_ROM (7/10/2016)

**You can begin the following process from any Build but you must already have Root Access**
**Required** [root] FlashFire
Download:
- G930T_PG1_Stock_DeOdexed_Debloated_ROM.zip
1. Place the ROM onto your device (use either internal or ext-sdcard).
2. Open the FlashFire app, grant root access, and "Agree" to the Terms and Conditions.
3. Press "(+)" twice to bring up the "Actions" menu.
4. Press "Flash Zip or OTA" and locate and select the ROM. Use the default settings under the "Options" menu and press the checkmark to continue.
5. From the main menu Uncheck all options under "EverRoot" and set "Reboot" to "Download."
6. Press the lightning bolt then "Ok" to begin the flash . The screen will turn black then display the contents of your system before beginning the flash. FlashFire will pause for about 1 minute while flashing the "system" partition.
7. Once the flash is complete and the device reboots into "Download" mode, flash the G930T_PG1_Stock_Modem_Recovery_Bootloader.tar.md5 using Odin's AP slot. The device will take 10 - 15 mins for the first boot!
8. To regain root access, re-run "root.bat" once the device has fully rebooted. Make certain usb debugging is enabled. Enjoy!
Tip: for blazing fast speed turn off animations from Developer Options and reboot!

Thx. Use FlashFire's backup function to backup your data then restore after updating.

Nice! Thanks!
First off thanks for posting the first rom in this section. I just wanted to ask if this runs at the speed of the stock s7 or does it lag and delay like mine is now after rooting and applying the fixes?

Others will have to share their thoughts on that. I am running pure stock w/out root. But debloated, deodexed ROM'S usually run a little faster than pure stock.

THANK YOU, will try as soon as I charge my phone and I will post updates.
Running amazing, definitely faster then stick rooted, only issue I'm having is when trying to make a call it takes a few seconds to connect :/ tried disabling Volte didn't make a difference
This rom is a phenomenal start. It is atleast as fast as stock s7 and runs circles around a fresh rooted one. As stated above the only thing I did notice was some weird calling issue but what cleared that up for me was dialer/settings/ turn off volte and also turn off wifi calling. The wifi calling had to be tricked into turning off as the regular wifi calling in settings was grayed out but I was able to get it in the dialer section. Thanks for a great start!
Will this unlock bootloader ?

Great job on this ROM! Have everything set up and it's blazing fast. Pop your PayPal buddy. I'd like to buy you a beer.

Hey, I also found this weird problem, may NOT be with this ROM, but I've never seen it before. Whenever I try to change the permissions of any app, I get this error. SO, I have to go thru and disable every app before I can change ANY app's permissions. VERY annoying. Anyone have a workaround?

I used the new UPDATE and flashed via flashfire, it rebooted, now I get the error: "Security error: This phone has been flashed with unauthorized software & is locked"
Anyone know what to do?

I extracted a APK file out of there and just installed it normally. Hope that helps
Just odin flash the stock PG1 .tar files.
You may also want to remove that link to the regular SuperSU.zip. People should only use the special SuperSU version made for use with adb.

The zip will have all the tar files,, and it will be obvious where they go when unzipped.
