So I did a fresh install of v1.0.5 and everything is great except when I try to download large games from the market it says I have insufficient space, but I have over 3gbs left. Not sure why this is happening. Anyone else having this issue? Thanks

Apps are saved to the System Memory, not Phone Memory.
Anyways, just reboot into Recovery and wipe cache.
Ok so I cleared the cache and it has worked so far. Thanks for the help.
Edit* only worked for one game

I have over 650mb left in system memory and its says I have insufficient space whenever I try to download any game around 40mb. I cleared the cache and it worked for one game. Not sure what else to try.

It's because the Market downloads apps to the cache partition before installing them. Our cache partition is fifty something megabytes with just over 40 MB free usually.
That makes sense. Thanks for the help. Is there a quick way to clear the cache?

That's strange, I only have 449 MB in System Memory and I can download games around/over 40MB. The only thing I could suggest would be to wipe the cache again. Are you on stock, btw?

The easiest (and only) way I know of is going into recovery.
I'm running thriller 1.0.5 rom. It let me download a game after I left work but now it says I have insufficient space again when I try to download another. I even did a second wipe and fresh install of rom this morning. Maybe it just takes a little before the cache clears.

Didn't I already explain what's going on? And it has nothing to do with my ROM. The same behavior is exhibited on the stock ROM. I will hack the Market to remove the app size limit soon.
The rom is awesome so far. Sorry for being a noob this is my first android. I appreciate the explanation and the work you put into the rom.

Ok, I have found a temporary solution. I'm on a different Rom, but it should work for Thriller too.
1. Boot into CWM
2. Wipe Data/Cache
3. (Re)Install Thriller. (Not sure if needed, but I did it just to be on the safe side)
4. Download and install an app called Freespace.
5. Run Freespace.
6. Look at the Cache category and you should see this:
Size: 61MB
Used: 7MB
Free: 54MB
7. Now download the app you want that is over 40MB (note: your limit is 54MB).
8. The app will install and play fine (no FC like I was getting).
9. Go back to the Freespace app and click Cache. You will see that your Free cache is almost depleted and your Used is almost full.
9. Reboot your phone.
10. Your cache stats should have reset to how they originally were (check using the Freespace app).
11. Download the next app/game over 40MB and it will install fine.
Repeat this every time you want to install an app over 40MB.

So I'm getting the error from market if not enough space on cm7. is there any way to increase room for installing applications? I install everything to the sd card anyways, but it still says it's full.

On some apps I get error downloading This is insufficient space on the device. There is plenty of space. I have rebooted. Wiped both caches and market cache and rebooted. Still the same thing. Anyone else have any ideas on how to clear this error?

Try moving some of your apps to your sd card and see if you can download. There isn't much room for third party apps on the phone storage

According to Titanium back i have 797 MB free on system rom
890 MB free on internal
9.99 GB free on SD card
9.02 GB free on ext. SD card
I have moved some of the bigger games to the SD card.
I am mightily confused.
I've heard that partition issues may cause this. Also, check permissions, as they may cause a similar effect.

It's not the system that you need to check, it is data and cache partitions. When you download an app it is downloaded into the cache partition then installed in the data partition. Even updates.

What do I need to clean up where then please? I delete the cache and Dalvik in recovery, but that hasn't helped.
I see /cache, /data, but what can be cleared out.
/cache/dalvik-cache is full of dex files.
/data/dalvik-cache/ is full of dex files as well.

The reason I mention tb is it has a market link which often affects downloads from play store. So if you've restored using tb, this may be why you're unable to download from play store

Simple question and you've probably checked -
But under storage what shows as used / free?
For both USB and SD card?
Might find your culprit in there....

Seems you've a s**tload of stuff on the internal SD ....
Possibly move some of the pics/movies/music to the External SD and see if you get the same issue...
Given that the OS will need at least some space to run 212Mb seems awfully low for your internal SD..
Just for reference - I've got
Internal Storage: 1.97Gb
Free: 1.38Gb
USB Storage:
- Total: 11.08GBl
- Free: 9.6GB
And my External card is more or less empty since last nights return to 'Virgin' system...
So that is:
SD Card:
- Total: 7.28GB
- Free: 5.76GB
Just a thought....

No don't even try it.
You're wasting your time. I had the same issue.
I deleted some apps, transferred them to sdcard, tried airplane-cold-reboot, wiped all caches, restored fixes, reflashed kernel... everything failed.
If you're in the same position as I was, then backup whatever you can.
Do a factory reset from the Settings (so everything in internal memory gets wiped).
Then wipe all cache, re-flash your rom, then kernel, fix permissions... and reboot.
Restore all your stuff, and it will magically be fixed !
(its because of accumulating bad partitions in your internal sdcard, combined with kernel misunderstandings, it makes it impervious to re-write in some sectors)

Hello, right now i'm using miracle v4 ROM with dartremor a2sd script for cm7. I'm facing a apps installation problem that always occurs when I try to download big-sized app like inotia4, magic piano etc. It keep saying insufficient memory, but when I check the available space on titanium backup, I still have a lot of space in memory card also internal storage because of a2sd partition. Anyone suffer same problem as me?
Sent from my GT-S5830 using xda app-developers app
i have same problem..
i hv lots of space in internal and memory card.
but evrything installs to the small a2sd partition, which is only 180 mb
I have 1.16 GB on my a2sd partition and 88.5 MB on internal storage. The inotia4 only around 43MB. But it can't be installed even downloaded before the download process it keep saying error insufficient memory.

Anyone know how to solve this?
Sent from my GT-S5830 using xda app-developers app
This is most probably some conflict with the play store and/or titanium backup
go to settings->applications->manage applications
Clear the data and cache from the play store
If still doesnt resolve the issue, delete the vending.apk from \system\app
use this to reinstall it
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1802291
Okay, the first suggestion failed and now i'm working on the second, do i need to install it via root explorer (copy paste to /system/app) or just normal installation?

My internet cache won't clear out, its showing 1.36 TERABYTES! It seems to be causing problems with flashing things on Safestrap recovery because I'm getting an E: I/O error. Pressing on the clear cache tab in the application manager does nothing. Is there anything else I can do to clear that cache? Thanks in advance for any help.

Try clearing the cache in Titanium Backup
If that doesn't do it I think there is a bigger problem at hand.

Well, clearing the cache in Titanium didn't work but it lead me in the right direction. I backed up the apk, deleted it through Titanium then re-installed and set permissions.

Unfortunately after trying the fix I mentioned the problem is still there, and that 1.36 TB is supposedly on the internal storage. I'm waiting for the S5 ported ROM to get updated before I do a full wipe and start over.
Yeah, a full wipe is the only next choice. Good luck.

There is a full set of Odin files available in the general section . Flash those. Clears out everything. And you can re- root afterwards. It totally cleared up a bunch of memory and battery drain issues I had, with a full wipe.

Sorry man that's no good...maybe if you don't want to do a full wipe yet try doing the same uninstall/reinstall process then convert and freeze it?

@woodie360 you'll want to do the full 4 file odin flash for a factory reset...the home file won't wipe your internal storage which
