Hello all.
I have a problem with my custom bootanimation. I always have a black screen instead of my animation.
I have a HTC wildfire cyanogen mod7 rooted.
I use the bootanimation I attached to this thread.
I do this (when in recovery mod, with mounted /data and /system, and USB connected) :
adb push bootanimation.zip /data/local/
adb push bootanimation.zip /system/media/
adb push bootanimation.zip /system/customize/ressource/
And my zip is well move to each directory.
But at restart, no animation, only black screen. Are my pictures (png, <40k, 240x135) too big ? Is the desc.txt incorect ? I can't find why it doesn't work, hope you will be able to help me as on this thread (where solution not given directly, and link's dead).
Hope you will be able to help, BR

Ok so I'm a noob but I was trying to create my own boot screen and in the /system/media folder there is an audio folder and a bootanimation.zip I zipped my own images over the sprint layout and I have nothing but a black screen. Then I wasw looking at fresh 2.3.3 and its setup with a bootscreen folder in the media folder. Don't know if creating a bootscreen folder would work I'm just trying different things. So if you could explain to me how to create a folder in the system. I tried adb push bootfolder /system/media however that just push the contents. Thanks!

Use the way its done it fresh or in my rom. But to get it to work u have to delete the boot animation.zip file. Fresh uses specific names to the files others use generic ones.
I've read a couple boot animation threads so far, I have a bootanimation.zip file I want to try out. For whatever reason I cannot understand how I am supposed to get it on my phone. My eris is rooted but I'm not sure what next. Do I need adb? can I run these .bat files floating around here from my sd card? For some reason I can't wrap my head around this and it is frustrating, can anyone clarify what a rooted user needs to have/ what commands to run?
Thanks
The easiest way would be to download EStrongs File Manager from the Market. Put the boot animation on your SD card, then open EStrongs and move the zip into the /System/Media folder. Make sure you only have 1 boot animation in the there. Enjoy.

This does not work. It is not possible to copy from the sd card and put a file in my system folder
**edit, I see I needed to give estrong SU permissions. I got it to work just fine. Thank you.
Glad you got it to work, and you're welcome.

or u can use terminal emulator
su (enter)(to get root permisions)
cp /sdcard/(wherever your bootanimation.zip is) /data/local (enter)
reboot (enter)

You were so sure of yourself though! LOL
Bit of a noob to all this, so work with me please...... I'm trying to replace the Cyanogemod boot animation that came with CELB froyo 2.6 rom. I have a new bootanimation.zip copied to my SD card. I'm using ES File Explorer with SU permissions and it wouldn't let me copy new zip file to: /system/media. Says copy failed. If I try to delete the bootanimation.zip in /system/media, it says file can't be deleted.
So then I went to my terminal emulator and typed:
su (enter)
cp /sdcard/bootanimation.zip /data/local (enter)
reboot (enter)
And now I have not boot animation at all. It shows the bootscreen (3 skateboarding droids) then black screen, then lock screen
Where did I go wrong??
Update: removed bootanimation.zip and there was also a bootscreen.zip from /data/local. REbooted and cyanogemod boot screen came back.
I retried the terminal emulator and it worked!

Just an fyi Sometimes you need to re assign SU permissions to estrongs. Just uncheck and then check the mount syst directory as writeable and it will work. Its kinda like re shareing a folder in windows. Sometimes shares drop for no reason or just need to be re shared.
ps. I dont like using the terminal but thanks for the simple commands, I've seen way to many different ways to change the animation. The above cmd's are simple and easy.
First things first i have a rooted Samsung Continuum, And i want to change my boot screen and since i dont have a recovery option right now i cant flash anything.
So i have to place the boot animation zip on the phone, Well heres the problem i cant find where im suppose to place the file?? Any help would be great.

You should ask this in the correct area for your phone. I have no knowledge of any other phones but Magic.
Still, see if this helps. When I change my boot animation I put it to system/media/bootanimation.zip.
Why can't you get to recovery?
I checked there i couldnt find anything.
There is no recovery for my phone yet.
Yeah ill ask in the correct forums.
It's either /system/media, /system/customize/resource or /data/local, or more than one of them.
1st off I love how you bump your own thread lol.
2nd, If you phone is rooted install 'root explorer' or simular and search for bootanimation.zip, this will show you where your current animation is stored.
3rd. Remember the directory & copy the bootanimation.zip you want into that folder & overwrite, reboot.
4th. Hope that helps, enjoy !
Try to push it to /data/local/ with adb.
This Xbox One boot animation was one of my first modifications after rooting my Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 [GT-P3113].
It should work on any 600x1024 device...
bootanimation.zip present in my cloud. As XDA policy does not allow me to insert links so soon, contact me on my mail for the download link.
To use the boot animation-
download the bootanimation2.zip from the link i will be providing to those who send me an email.
rename the .zip file to bootanimation.zip
download a file explorer that works with and will give you root access.
push (copy and paste) the bootanimation.zip to /system/media. Another bootanimation.zip already exists in that location. This is the default boot animation. Back it up and replace it.
The boot animation should run the next time you turn on your device.
Thank you!
EDIT-I have removed my contact details as the files for the boot animation are obsolete, and also, I have misplaced them.
hi. i want to change my boot logo but i cant and was hard to me. any one knew easy way to change boot logo . my rom is xosp marshmallow . i am sorry my english is not good
Boot animation comes with a set of images, packed in a compressed folder with the format zip. Its name is "bootanimation.zip", located in the system directory /system/media
If you have a boot animation zip in your possession, just replace the original one located in the system folder. For safety, you may instead rename the old one.
Note: boot animations may work differently across devices and ROMs.
how can i extract logo.bin in custom rom
The bootanimation is in "ZIP" format, you can find it in System/media. Just copy it from there to your external sd and copy it to your computer if you want to edit it. Likewise, you can copy another bootanimation.zip ( the bootanimation you like ) back to the device
Just copy it to system media and change the permissions to rw-r-r ( 0644 ) and you're good to go
why you are talking about bootanimation? i want to extract logo.bin to change SONY bootlogo not change the bootanimation.
please answer to me
Why????
