Have had NC rooted w CM7 since April w no problems.
As of month ago, SD card has not stayed in. Seems spring that locks card in is junk. Tried other cards and same thing so has to be hardware.
Because of this, can't download any files, update CM7, CWM, etc. Total bummer.
Can I flash CWM and CM7 directly to emmc or is that impossible w/o SD card?
Have searched multiple forums for resolutions to this issue but no one else seems to have this problem.
Would hate to lose this functionality and have a crippled NC.
Thanks in advance
I never done that but according to my read, you have 2 options
1. Flash CwMR (aka ROM Manager) into eMMC and using it.
2. If you can get ADB working, you can push stuff over.
I had exactly that problem and it happened right in the middle of an update and would not reboot at all. Here is what I did:
Fished out my original, bootable SD card with Nightly 86 and the apps pack, put it in the slot and held it all the way in. Booted up and reinstalled CM7 to the eMMC. (I did not wipe anything but Davlik so I still had all my apps and settings. Then, rebooted into CM7 while holding my regular SD card in place, opened ROM Manager and reinstalled Nightly 201. (I had to hold the SD card in throughout this process to complete which was very strenuous.) Now I am back to where I was, except the SD card slot is basically useless. I called in under warranty and a new Nook is on the way. When I get it I will go through this tiresome process one more time to revert the current Nook to stock before i return it.
If you were only running CM7 off the SD card and still have a functioning stock Nook, forget everything i just said and call them up to request a replacement under warranty. If your warranty is over, you are either stuck with stock or you will have to root the way I just mentioned above.

So I did what I wasn't supposed to do: I rooted my Nook and decided I wanted CM7. So I went into CWR, rom zip in hand, and that's when the trouble started. My plan was to format everything, so I started with boot. CWR froze and it hasn't turned on since.
Now, I've searched and read everything about this exact situation. I need a bootable CWR sdcard and then flash the repartition boot zip.
That would be great except every CWR sdcard I burn, never works. Nothing can get this thing to come to life. I burn the sdcard, put it in the Nook, plug it to the PC and nothing happens.
I have a 2GB and 16GB card, and I've tried the 2GB images, 8GB images, 128 MB images, everything.
I really don't know what is going on, but I believe I have the world's first bricked Nook.

I had similar problems early on. Found out app i used wasnt burning image. Try older version of win32 disk imager. If the burn is bad, nook wont power on till sd card is removed.
Seminoobie, please help. I successfully made a Nook CM7 uSD with the Size-Agnostic instructions using 7.0.2 (thanks dev). Transcend 8gb card. Worked great for three days, now it is stuck on the circle-skater screen. I let it run for a half-hour, no dice.
Running Autnootered 3.0 emmc in 1.1, that works fine. I don't have CWM installed on emmc (I want to avoid this for now to make factory restore/1.2 upgrade easier for autonooter 4), so I have no current access to Rom Manager, if that matters. I've seen some posts suggesting to clear caches with Rom Manager but I assume the uSD caches aren't in internal memory, are they? Other posts suggest partition corruption but the card worked fine before I turned it off and rebooted, and the boot partion shows up on the computer with a card reader just as you would expect.
The last thing I did before this happened was run Titanium Backup to pull the 200 existing apps on emmc onto the CM7 card. I did this by copying the entire full Backup file from a standard sd backup to the computer, then copied that file back to the /sd partition after putting cm7 into usb mode, then running Titanium in CM7. That worked fine, and I even was able to move some of the apps to the virtual SD and they worked.
I could take an hour and burn another card but wondered if I am just missing something to fix this, also if I do burn another card whether I did something wrong in applying Titanium that I should avoid again.
Also wondering if it is worth waiting for a future stable build that addresses the Nook deep sleep/battery drain issue, which seems to be in the works.
If I burn another card and get the same freeze happiness will elude me. Thanks in advance.
I assume you powered down and rebooted. I have had that happen to me and after a fresh reboot everything loaded.
I use the SD card method to have the nook boot into CM7 and when the SD card is pulled, the nook would be stock to be used by my kids. But I think I messed things up and can't restore. Here is what I have done:
1- I tried to update the stock version to 1.3 manually from B&N website but soon realized I could not. It seems like when in CM7, I had tried to flash CWM recovery (which was not needed and is pretty buggy in SD card method for nook). Now the recovery in emmc appears to be CWM.
2-for some stupid reason when I got into CMM recovery, I formatted boot, system, data and cache (not sure if I did boot also or not). My thinking was to flash a stock image and be fixed. But I am now stuck.
Is there a way to go back to stock on the nook? I am still able to boot into SD card and CM7 nightly. Oh ya, I use Linux Ubuntu not windows. TIA
Sounds like you should get the system back to stock before proceeding any further.
Follow the instruction here: http://www.nookdevs.com/NookColor_UnRooting
The problem is that I get into the CWM recovery and not given the reset option following the options on that page. Any idea?
I think my problem is that I'm not really rooted in true sense since I was running off the SD card. Maybe I shoudl root properly, then unroot?
I did kind of the same thing once. I made an Sd card image with CWM on another sd card -- basically as if you are going to install CM7 to emmc. However, once you get to the point where you would flash Cm7, use the stock zip ROM. It will install that to emmc so it will be back to normal. You should then be good to go.

If you follow the instructions you should be left with an unrooted initialized stock Nook Color. Register your account. Then you can wait for the NC to download the 1.3 update, or side load it. Once that is installed you have an unrooted 1.3 stock system.
From there you can try your CM7 card. Don't forget to remove your SD card at the very beginning since like a PC the NC will try to boot off the SD card if it is present.

when I follow the instruction, I am not given the factory reset option. I am stuck at the n screen. It flashed the read forever but then stuck at the n screen. Do I have to wait longer than 5 minutes?
None of this is mine, I owe it ALL to the threads mentioned below.
So as in many posts on XDA say, it's almost impossible to brick the Nook. What a great device. I had to format my SD card to use it to "un-brick" my nook but it was done. I Mainly used the info here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=949699
Burnt a bootable CWM image onto my SD card. It took a while doing it with dd in Linux. I'm sure it's the same in Windows or Mac. It took about 20-30 minutes. It also took a while to unzip/extract the img file from the downloaded file. Be patient
Then used the CWM recovery remover file from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=914690 to remove my CWM recovery and used the 1.0.1 file from same thread to flash the stock image onto the nook.
Once the SD card is ready, just drop those files in the root of the sd card. It should have 4 other files in it to boot into CWM recovery from the sd card and let you use the menus to flash those two zip files. It took a while but it's all in those threads. Thanks to the members. Now lets see if I can go up to 1.3 and then root it again.
you also need to do this

and here is the ver 1.2 stock flashable with an clockwork bootable sd card

Ok first off I have read through a lot of different forums from here and different websites. Could not find a solution.
MY cappy was rooted and I was running cm9 on it for a while working great.. decided to give cm 10.1 a try. Well it worked for about 2 1/2 months. doing the updates that came out every day. Then the other I was playing a game on it. I stoped the game unplugged the phone from the wall charger went outside to smoke and went to check the phone. It was a black screen where it was semi light up though.
I of course tried hitting the power about 15 times no response. So I took out the battery and put it back in. It rebooted into recovery. So I hit reboot phone. Went back into recovery. Went in cleared cache and dalvik cache rebooted. Went back into recovery, so from there I went to install zip from sd card. there was nothing on sd card.
I then put it into download mode and using odin I brought it back to stock 2.3.4 after odin had suceeded it installed everything on phone. But it came with error no internal storage found. It booted fully. So then I tried heimdall one click it then did the same thing I cleared cache and did a factory reset. IT rebooted fully.
It only works when I have my ext. SD card in the phone though. If i pull my ext sd card out it will go into a boot loop. IF i put my ext sd card into another phone and back to my cappy Itll stay in boot loop. I have formatted sd card put it back into the phone and rebooted. and same thing. bootloop. So I then have to go through the process again to get it semi running. It wont read ext or internal sd card when phone is fully on.
So is there any way to get it to read internal storage again? Or even ext. I dont understand why it will run with the ext.
Any help will be appreciated Thank you.

Your issue is kinda odd, the only thing I can think of is the EU bug but that's on ICS and you said you were on JB. Either way, could be worth looking into, there's a thread for it in here.

Well I was on cm 9 then went to cm 10.1 4.2 I have no clue I looked into the EU bug tried to fix it no luck. I can put the sd card on it and flash the stock rom and kernel and it will run just without it reading internal or external sd card
the external sd card has probably got your .androidsecure hidden folder on it, possibly more. if your phone had the eu bug, then CM10 recognizes that and switches the mounts.
if you boot the phone, go into terminal emulator, type su, then type mount, and post the output, it would probably give us a clue.

No the android secure was on the phone, The external sd card was never in my phone but I was trying different things and if i format my sd card put it in the cappy then do the flash. It will work but as soon as I turn the phone off and put the sd card in another phone, It has no files. but when I put it in my laptop it says there is only 5 gb on it but it is an 8gb memory card. Then I have to format twice to get my full memory from it on another phone.
Could use a little help please, after full wipe and flashing the new TEAMBAKED rom, I have lost access to my external SD Card, however when I boot into recovery it is there and all contents are still on it.
Plugging into the computer opens the Note with only internal storage. Like it doesn't see my external card anymore. Prior to this flash, I have never had issues before. So I restored my last Nandroid backup, but the problem still exists.
I have googled plenty, and tried fixing permissions, but to no avail.
Removing the SD Card and plugging directly into the PC it shows up straight away, so it seems not an issue with the card.
I am at a loss, any suggestions please?
Well my last gasp attempt fixed the problem, I flashed Philz latest kernel then a stock rom, after wiping everything and now I magically have access to the sd card again. So I am not sure if it is a CM 10.1 bug (been on CM for best part of 6 months) as I haven't seen it before, but the stock fixed it. Now to reflash back to CM.
Hope that helps someone if they have the same issue I had.
