Boot.img - LG Thrill 4G

Is anyone else having trouble unpacking the stock boot.img? I'm getting an error that there's no android header. And I'm also getting errors about the ramdisk. I had someone else on an irc channel try to unpack it with no success. I'm stumped on this one.
EDIT: o was able to unpack a different boot.img from a different phone just fine.

Can someone who's feeling lucky and running my rom please try my first Thrill kernel? I really just want to make sure it boots and works, but I don't have my Thrill on me atm.
One at a time now. This is untested and I take no responsibility if you have to do the unbrick procedure if something goes wrong.
Flash with CWM.
edit: test kernel removed

That link is not working for me. Anyone else get it to work?

He took it down the phone wouldn't boot

pass me the files and tell me what you want to do, if all goes well you do it work in 3 minutes

I am able to compile a new kernel from source and rebuild a new boot.img but I always end on LG logo after flashing it. PM me if you want to change experiences.

Is there a ClockworkMod for Thrill 4G & NOT LGE Optimus V?

I think I found my issue, I have lately been trying to 'Flash Current ROM'.
It had seemed that my Thrill 4G didn't save a backup in the ClockworkMod folder.
I had done some research and found out this might be my problem for not paying attention.
So is there a way I can flash ClockworkMod for Thrill 4G without having to use an LGE Optimus V version?
Did you look in the development section? There's a huge thread on clockworkmod recovery and flashing.
You can't use the Clockworkmod app.

There is currently no cwm for the Thrill. We only have a partially ported version. Which works well enough on its own for flashing directly from recovery. It still has a lot of quirks but its enough for the basics.

Cool. Could I maybe get this? Or could you assist me?
I tried the Clockwork Mod thing in Android Development LG Thrill.
I'm an older adb user and am familiar with it. But that was WAY difficult.
Could you give me a link or an easy way to use CWM for Thrill?

You need cwm to use rom manager. They're a pair. If you pm me your msn I can help you get cwm installed.
Once you have cwm Power off the phone. Then hold these three buttons simultaneously: VOLUME DOWN+3D+POWER. As soon as the phone starts to power on release the POWER button only. Hold the volume down+3D buttons until cwm boots up. From there backing up/restoring and flashing zips is fairly straight forward. Most rom threads have cwm instructions for flashing.

[KERNEL] Stock w/init.d support (stable, Great battery)

I'm out of testing phase but decided to keep this up. This is just a stock kernel with a modified ramdisk to allow the use of scripts in a init.d folder. Its nothing special other than that. Ill start digging into getting an OC kernel going now.
This will work with any Thrill rom. The only exception is on Thrill Seeker you must go into /system/etc/init.d and delete the file called "999switch"
While anything is possible, this kernel will NOT brick your phone. It fully boots and, as far as I can tell, runs fine. Ive also included the stock kernel in a flashable zip. You flash them the same way you would flash a rom. NO wiping of anything is needed.

Can you guys run cpu spy and see if the phone is sleeping? (those that got it before i pulled it )

Have you tested it on any GB roms? If not i'm thinking of trying it out, do you think there's any risk of breaking my phone if I do or is a bootloop the worst case scenario?

Battery life is looking fantastic with this.
I don't know if you were planning on doing another Thrill Seeker update rom or not. But if you do, can you throw this in the ROM?
And I don't suppose you could ask tekahuna if you can throw his OC kernal in the updated Thrill Seeker ROM if you do an update.
Suddenly the Thrill section is blowing up!

Did you make sure to clear data and cache after enabling safe mode?

tried that, same effect. weird thing is when I tried to restore my backup it didn't boot at all till I toggled safemode off.
I suspect a bad download. Try redownloading the file. Make sure after toggling Safe system ON, you clear EVERYTHING and then flash.

welp, something is weird because when i install the ROM or restore my backup the phone won't boot. maybe my safestrap is borked?
Sent from my DRIOD 4 Husky Edition
Will this rom work through clockworkmod recovery? It doesn't say it's exclusive to safestrap in the title and I know another user looking to edit his non-safe system via CWM recovery.
In theory, it would, but it is not a theory I recommend you test! We have no way to recover this phone if it bricks, so please, put on safestrap and use the stock prerooted for safestrap!! (Or, if you want it debloated, check out my Motoblur LT rom, also for safestrap)
Sent from my DROID4 using XDA
I wouldn't dare leave my precious safestrap, this is for someone else. Thank you for the response though!
Sent from my DROID4 using Carrier Pigeons
Just keep in mind that although safestrap is based on cwm, it is not exactly the same. If the install script has even one command that is different, it could be enough to brick since you are installing on a non-safe system with no fastboot files available. Please tell this "someone else" that we wish them luck, but using this rom with cwm directly is NOT tested, and likely VERY risky, and we do not want them to brick their phone, and won't risk giving any guaranteed directions, we are much more certain of it working correctly with safestrap and are not particularly comfortable saying it would work with cwm, all theory aside.
Sent from my DROID4 using XDA
Right, I'll express the uncertainty of the situation. I'll hit up Hashcode and see how difficult it would be to make one soley designed for CWM. Doesn't hurt to have the ROM, people will always be risky so why stop them?
Sent from my DROID4 using Carrier Pigeons
Lol, true enough! Good luck.
Sent from my DROID4 using XDA
He said the data was a little buggy and it lagged, but I don't know all the minor details of what he did (wipe data/cache/etc) but this rom DID work in CWMrecovery.
Sent from my DROID4 using Carrier Pigeons
Good to know, thanks for reporting back. I'm glad he didn't brick!

[Q] Is my Tab dead?

I've been running CM 10.1 on my 7310 for a couple of months - it's slow, but it does the job.
Today it started misbehaving more than usual, so I rebooted. It's spent the afternoon rebooting itself about once every five minutes - freeze and hard reboot (Samsung splash screen). I tried different versions of CM and AOKP to figure out if it was hardware or software, no change.
I wiped it and flashed CM 9 nightlies a couple of hours ago, and got the same behaviour. After some googling I found aLogrec and turned it on. As soon as it boots and tries to start recording the logcat, it hard reboots. I figure the onboard flash storage is borked - is there anything I can do? I can't even get it to boot into Recovery, it just loops forever.
I'm hoping someone out there can give me some ideas before I go out and spend on a Nexus 7..
Have you tried to see what happens if you install official ICS with Odin?

Odin recognised it and has flashed the right ICS official, but it just sits on a glowing Samsung logo.

I will wipe all data/cache from recovery and see if that works, but I'm not so experienced and you should wait for someone with proper knowledge to give you advice But you just might give it a try

I flashed the 4.0.4 from here and it didn't work, so I tried the 3.2 and restored it to shipped state using Odin. After that I rooted and reinstalled CWM with Odin, and then flashed the CM 10.1 M2 build from the Development forum here the usual way (copy to SDcard, reboot recovery).
Good. I should have mentioned you have to start with gingerbread. Could have saved you a step.

[Q] CloudyG3 first boot taking over an hour?

I clean flashed it and in TWRP it said done and I clicked reboot and it was rebooting for at least 20 minutes...not a bootloop...just the boot animation playing over and over and over. I tried force rebooting and my SIM wouldn't be detected so I reflashed it (again, clean flash) it and now I'm waiting on the boot screen for an hour+...I know first boots usually take longer because it has to setup the OS...but an hour..? Did I do something wrong? Anyone know why this might be happening?
EDIT: I got into the ROM. No cell signal though. Anyone possibly know why?
Might have a bad download. I know u did a back up of your previous ROM? U should re download the ROM again make sure u select the correct variant and see what happens then.

Considering his post is from June, I hope so. You may want to post your full issue here or in a new thread or the G3 thread itself.
Well since this thread is here, I want to ask some questions about CloudyG3's rom on the Verizon variant. Basically how it is? I really like the stock experience of the G2.
I've used the Flex port with good success before but there were several issues that I came back to stock. I know the stock SMS app refuses to work, which kinda sucks. I really like the popup SMS/MMS feature.
I'm just looking into whether it is worth it before I take the plunge. What are the steps to making CloudyG3 work the best?
1: What SMS is a good replacement that is similar to stock?
2: How to get the radio working?
3: Knock Code won't work, correct?
4: What issues/bugs to expect?
5: ????
