see real time feeds
MiniRead is the best RSS reader. You will see the feeds moving on your device screen in news ticker style. You will see the updates even while doing other tasks and will never miss any update.
Very much customizable and innovative among RSS reading apps.

Best Facebook App

Friendcaster is a hands down, far superior app for Facebook, then the Official Facebook app. It does it in less room, with a plethora of options the Official app doesn't have. I can do almost everything on Friendcaster I can online, and faaaaarrrrrrrrr more then the FB app. Try it!!
hmmm, I will have to check it out. Thanks for the 411
Thanks sinsin it is a better app than facebook android.
Bummer it doesn't have chat.
Black facebook! Its the best ! Its not in the market tho

seems to me that what this app does os mostly provide notifications of updates and then send you to the facebook app or the webpage to do updates or even simply reply to messages. Will have to play with it some more however.

Been forever. If you're using the free version it doesn't do half of what the paid one does. If youre using the paid version there are options in the settings to choose actions for things. So it really does everything better. Even the FB app forces you to the website for stuff. Plus the paid version of Friendcaster has a black theme, to answer the post before yours. Not sure what options the free version has so if you're using it read up on it. It may be limited to certain things and options.

Safe site other than Market to download APKs?

I am not talking about paid/warez APKs, but would like to know if there is a trustworthy site that I can download free APKs from? For example, Softpedia is usually my goto site for freeware when I am looking for PC apps. Does such a site exist for Android? Thanks in advance for your replies and have a great day!
I forgot to mention that I am currently trying out the Amazon App Market.
Thanks,

Yes it does.
pandaapp.com is another good one. thats what i use for all my questionably legal app downloads
Same Boat
Why be so judgy im in the same boat also looking for a place to download to my pc because i have a game room that my wifi doesn't reach and the apps can only be downloaded via wifi or 3g (if available) using the play store, I would like to see google incorp. direct download to the tablet and phones via usb using your pc as a medium aka as long as your android device is connected via usb allow direct download
You can always try 4shared.com
I usually buy apps, but sometimes I like to take them for a spin before I buy them to see if it's worth it.
Remember, always support developers.
SlideME.org
I would say just search Google with the app name and .apk at the end. Works most of the time and I find the ones I need with no problem.
I would not recommend the Amazon App Store because last few times I downloaded, it would just bug out. Not sure if they fixed it now though.
APKs FOR THUNDERBOLT
TRY "MARKETPLACE.COM/ANDROID" see if you can't find something. I have in the past. At least give it a try
Good Luck

play store (android market) can wireless push / synch apps from android.market.com to any device synching to your google account / device. no need for usb. this has been available forever. as far as trustworthy freeware sites, some torrent trackers as well as a few other d/l hosting sites cater to this, but not many unfortunately.
I never had a problem with Amazon app store, plus you get a free paid app everyday.

WiFi HotSpot for root

Found this the other night and wanted to share.
market.android.com/details?id=android.tether
If you open the link via the Market it will tell you that your carrier doesn't support it.
If you open the link via browser on your phone you'll be able to login to the market with your gmail credentials and invoke the download.
If you open the link via the market a second time you'll notice that install is an option.
I was able to install to my GingerVolt 1.3 without issue. I haven't actually tested to see if it works as a hotspot but it looks pretty legit.
The link actually came from the help off another HotSpot app I demoed in the market for $10. Said to use this instead if rooted.
Thanks to all of the devs for all of their time and mind blowing work. You guys are insane!

Add https:// to the beginning of the link. The forum app wouldn't let me post a link as my second post.

You need to type in "wireless android tether" in your search engine and download the latest beta. I didn't go through android market.

That's what I use....works every time

OP this doesn't work

But this does

I second that. I downloaded and installed Beta 11 from the google.code repo, changed the device setting to LG Optimus S and the type to "softap". Worked perfectly allowed my rooted Nook Colors to connect FINALLY via my phone. I had used WF Garden before but could not connect my Nooks, now all my devices are connecting without any issues.
Wow. That 2nd link worked like a charm. Thanks

(Q) Help with xda app url paste and SG Note lag

I hv got two questions, someone please help
1. how to paste/open a url in xda app - reason is xda app uses lesser data to show the same stuff as compared to any net browsing app, i dnt wanna waste my pracious data on reading same stuff in more net data usage, instead wanna use xda app by simply tapping on any xda forum url, link n getting the option of open with xda app / browser.
2. there is lag while opening contacts, call logs, dialer on my G Note. I am on Ultimate JB ROM 6, xxlt4 with speedmod kernel.
Thnx in advance.
Sent from my GT-N7000 using xda app-developers app
1. I don't think external links can be open in the xda app.
2. Touchwiz is the problem which causes delay in opening dialer /contacts. If you try a cm rom you will see the difference.

ok..but xda app has space to improve in this regard..
1) when we install xda app for the first time it should automatically detect the device n take us to 'my device forum' only (n providing facility to later change device etc), there is no point in digging in the long list of forums just to find my device specific forum. (presently once u search u can subscribe or add to favorite n all... its good)
2) when browsing in any internet browser we come across much needed help from xda forum but after clickin/ tapping on that link it doesnt recognise n ask whether to open xda forum link using xda app (which is faster, smoother, doesnt hv ads etc) or any browser, it simply continues to open in new tab or so, to further let the browser to use more data as compared to xda app. when i browse xda using its own app its faster, smoother, doesnt hv unecessary things to load/ show up..
Thnk u xda for making our android lives easier n happier.

just qoute the message with the url, copy url, discard qoute and paste it in your browser
