I got my new Bionic today. Everything went great except for one thing. After I finished the activation and setup I went to enable the phone on my WPA2 wireless network. To my shock it was already connected. I never was asked for my WPA password, how could it connect? And yes it was connected, I wasn't imagining things.

I assume that your coming from a different android device. Your router password is saved to your google account so when you logged into your new phone it restored the saved settings.

I might be mistaken but, I do believe that passwords saved in previous phones are backed up with your google account so when you switch phones there is no need to set all that back up. It transfers automagically when you sign in to google.

now i just hope verizon doesnt do anything to the ones that side load wifi tether
Wireless tether is basically stealing. Full props to verizon for finally blocking it. And gnesoid was taken down by he developer it is not being blocked by verizon.

Explain this to me. How is this stealing?
Is using Google Navigator stealing because VZW has VZ Navigator which they charge a monthly fee to use?
We pay $30+ for our data package, we shouldn't have to pay additional fees to use that same data.

Sigh. They [verizon] never blocked it, the developer pulled it on request of sega. Verizon might piss you off at times, but they don't care about a video game emulator to a 20+ year old system, lol. However...the former console company that hasn't really done much since they retired the said system might want to complain...
So why was Gensoid taken down? According to the developer, it was at the request of Sega. They must have contacted Google and gotten the emulator taken off the market. What exactly Sega claimed in order to take it down isn't know as Google usually isn't forthcoming with details, just general overviews, when asked. The next question is, why now?

It's also obvious if you search the market on your computer (not your phone). Wireless tether is still there if you use a browser, gensoid is not.

Stealing
Charging customer more money to tether to another device is stealing. Way I look at it, we already pay for 5gb of data (some unlimited). Wireless carriers should let us tether to any device we want to our data limit. I pay for my data plan and should be able to use any way I want to up to the carriers limit.
Barnacle Wifi Tether is still in there at least, i always liked that better anyways.
Just put your phone in airplane mode and turn wifi on and go to the market you will then be able to see all tether apps.

So I called sprint and they said apparently the previous owner had their account suspended or something. Can I somehow clone my HTC Hero's identity to the Optimus with CDMA workshop?

?
Sent from my HERO200 using XDA Premium App
short answer:
From what I know, at least using the old cdma workshop no, support may have changed since then - other programs out there yes.
Long:
regardless, what you're trying to do is almost certainly illegal. There might be loop holes if you get Sprint's/phone's manufactures permissions to change them - good luck.
if you clone (like the op says) and you have two phones with the same ESN and try to use both, that's definitely illegal.
Plus I'm quite sure XDA has rules against topics like this - i'm not going to mention anything tho
FCC on Fraud/ESNs
Only thing I can say is, Ask sprint what they can do, if anything about it and the options you may have.

Ok I have an idea; I have a water logged blackberry curve (1st gen) and is still functional. the esn on it is clean. If I clone that esn to the Optimus and destroy the water logged blackberry, do you think i'd be ok? I mean, if that blackberry is completely dead after I clone it, then I wouldn't be stealing data or anything
is this a reasonable idea?

Personally I would think that'd work/be ok.
Legally? No idea, I'm not a lawyer haha, but I'd still guess it's a no.
I mean you can always just try that and see if they'll activate it for you - or whatever you want them to do... The worst that would probably happen is they tell you the ESN already exists so you still can't use the phone - if they can even tell its from another phone, again not completely sure.

Hi? Does anyone knows how to edit the default verizon voicemail number? I noticed that even if a dial *86 the display number is different. Is there a way to edit it? In my contacts appear like voicemail but it doesn't give me the options to edit.
Appreciate any help.
If you go into ##program, I remember seeing the number for voicemail section. You should be able to override there.

as long as you allow GV to do the work, it's nearly impossible to screw up. GV will pull in your GV phone number and perform the VM forwarding command for you. You shouldn't even have to worry if your GV phone number matches what was assigned to you, everything is automatic.
Na. He's actually a real big nerd. But I do believe he messed up and wouldn't take blame, lol.

As long as you take the 10 minutes to set it up, it works great!
I have used it moderately as I said. I just never used it I guess like some others seem to. I just used it so clients I was doing work for could txt me a bunch n not actually blow up my phone. Id stop forwarding and just use the google voice site.

I know this has been an issue on other phones too but I haven't been able to find a solution to get the NFL Mobile app to work. When you log in it says services temporally unavailable. It does this under both liberty and r3blurr3d, but works under stock rooted.
Anyone know if a fix?

that is odd, mine only took 4 tries. not sure what else to tell you to try. i have mannaged to f my phone up now and it is unrootable at this time. at least i can still make calls on it.
Ack! Did you try one of the cheesecake updates or something?
Oddly enough i found a quick mention in a forum for a different phone and got it to work.....you know what the trick was?! Log in with the phone in landscape mode! I can't believe that worked on the first try.....Let me know about your phone issue, i will offer some help if i can.
My friend has a jailbroken iPhone and has a really cool app called Cylay (if you don't know what it is, Google it. In essence, it's an anti-theft app that can do a bunch of cool stuff). I was wondering if there was an equivalent in the Market (I refuse to call it by its new name)?

A good one is SeekDroid.
It is on sale right now, you can locate phone, track it on a map, wipe the phone, etc. I think it is one worth looking at.
Preyproject.com has an app for android.
Actually, your HTC Sense account can do all that remote lock or wipe your phone, as well as geolocate via the website. It just has to be set up properly.

Well then, how do I "set it up properly"?
Sent from my HTC PH39100 using xda premium
I wouldn't go the HTC Sense route, they sent out an email telling me to download my data because it's shutting down for a overhaul. Google it, you'll see. Besides it says it doesn't support ICS at this time anyways.
I have SeekDroid & Avast installed on my Vivid. SeekDroid you can control from internet or another phone, Avast can only be done via another phone, but has more features.

That's the one! I've tried it and even went on to pretend my phone was lost/stolen, and was able to locate on a map on my laptop with and without GPS active. I think its awesome. Also its free if you use for 1 device (or one device per account).

Wheres my Droid pro is pretty nice, you can lock, unlock, make ring, locate, wipe phone, wipe SD, sim lock, and there's more stuff I just can't remember.
Oh and you can do this all via text message commands from any phone that texts, maybe even from sending a text via Facebook, or the wheres my Droid website if you set up commander.
