So I sold my Nook Color recently and I'm trying to explain to the new owner how to setup the build.prop edit to make Netflix work, she did all the steps involved, changed model to HTC Vision and manufacturer to HTC and she can't install the app off the market, says incompatible, and even trying to sideload one with a devicecheck disabled also doesn't work.
What gives?
I've never had a problem getting it to work when I owned it.
It's on N150 if it matters, that's just a random nightly I flashed before I sold it.
Netflix works flawlessly in the newer nightlies without editing build.prop. just tell the new owner to update to one of the latest nightlies

Tell her to come down to my house, we'll have a glass of wine and unwind, after that we'll open up the rom manager, flash the latest nightly, then watch Gone With The Wind on Netflix and live happily ever after.
So flash another nightly, sigh, that's gonna be fun to explain to someone not familiar at all with anything like this.
Any other ideas?

If you put CM7 on the eMMC, walk her through using Rom Manager. You should be able to work it out together on the phone in less than 10 minutes.

Just wondering if anybody has looked into porting the HTC Sense Live Wallpaper (that was on the Desire and was ported to the Nexus One), so that it works on the Captivate or another Galaxy S phone?
Bump this. I would also love to have the HTC Sense Live Wallpaper for the Captivate.
Anyone?
same here. anyone???
now that we have 2.2 out for our phones, it should be able to be used. I know Nexus One has it available for 2.2
the one available here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=647837 still won't install.

yeah i second trying to get this Live wallpaper
Has anyone tried saving to sd card, flashing an old 2.1 kernel, applying the update and then switching back to froyo kernel?
EDIT: this method is assuming that everyone's running froyo now.

Why? I've given up live wallpapers for the most part because they tend to slow things down too much, even with a lag fix installed.
I'll still give it a whirl after you figure it out, though.
i tried pushing the lib files over but ran out of space and couldnt push the apk...funny thing tho, i left the libs in the system when i restarted my phone, poof! no signal, X'ed out like there was no sim...i deleted them and rebooted and poof! back to normal lol (and airplane mode was off the whole time btw)
Anyone able to adapt to captivate?
still waiting for this.... got one installed, but just shows a black screen.
try this one it works on galaxy s 2.3.3 roms

hey all. so i recently sold my old sprint hero that was rooted to cm6 and the new owner says that sprint hasn't been able to activate it to their account? is this normal? when i sold it, i did a reset to clear my data but i left it rooted (at their request). can someone tell me the easiest way to tell them how to unroot the phone? from speaking to them, i get the impression that they don't know much about this type of thing.

You guys should meet back up and you should flash a sense rom for them.
Only way for them to activate.
that's what i was afraid of. i sold the phone on ebay so it isn't someone local that i can meet with. so would you say that the easiest route would be for me to create a micro sd for them to boot from (someone else rooted my phone for me, but i rooted my nook color this way)? do you know offhand where i could find instructions to do this? i searched the android development forum but didn't see anything that dealt with going back to stock.

You're going to have to walk them through on how to get to recovery to flash, but just download liquidsense 2.1

I found this guide and found it very helpful it has a ton of stuff.. for your issue see Factory Reset not too far down.
Hero Root Guide
Just use the ruu in zip format is does it all for you in one file. Just send him the zip, tell him to put it on his sd, power the phone off, plug in the charger, hold down volume and power and 15 min later wham pure stock. No root no recovery. Just like out of the box
Yea it's me again. The one with the -Modified-Hero

Don't Quote me but, I'm Thinking the new owner should be able to Activate it by phone! At least I was able to with Mine! If not try just installing a 2.1 sense Rom and Delete the Superuser App, From my Experiences Chances are they Won't even Check for Root!!
Good Luck!

Wither way they need to reprogram the phone for his phone number, and the only way to do that is use the hash codes which only work on sense roms. Otherwise, if you know your way around qpst, you can do it from stock.

Good evening/morning. First I'd like to thank AOSP and everyone else that has contributed to the 2.3.2 Gingerbread ROM. It runs great, haven't had any problems running at 768mhz and I just love it. Thanks for all your hard work!
I do have a question though...is it possible to run Sprint's NASCAR app on this ROM? I don't remember what ROM I used long ago (I think it was a 2.1 Fresh, but not sure), but I remember having to install a sprint core APK along with any of the Sprint Apps I wanted (though I only really wanted the TV and NASCAR).
I've done some searching and a LOT of reading of posts, but haven't seen anything that applies to me.
Can anyone help? If it's possible, where can I get the APK(s)? If it's not, any idea why not? If it's not, can it run on CM6 or would I have to go all the way back to 2.1 (not really worth it to go back that far).
Thanks guys and keep up the great work!

Even though you are a Harvick fan, I'll help you out.
I used root explorer to put the Sprint_NASCAR.apk into /system/app. Then I changed the permissions to RW-R--R--. I then rebooted the phone.
I tested on aospCMod-03012011 and the first time I ran it, it opened and then closed. I then went back into it and everything loaded fine.
someonewhere posted this in the themes: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=970077&highlight=NASCAR
Worked great! Thanks! To anyone else looking for this app...you don't need to go to ABD....just transfer it to your phone and install it from your file manager. It took about a minute on mine, but it works perfectly...plus it still had my settings from when I used to have the app a long time ago (favorite driver, etc)...must be linked to my sprint account or my google account.

More than likely, there is a nascar folder on your sd card with your saved info in it.

Couldn't be....I recently replaced my card with a 16GB class 10 card. Haven't used the nascar app since November (when the season ended). Just out of curiosity, does anyone know if the NASCAR settings info is linked to you google account?

I think more likely it is probably linked to your Sprint account as it is a Sprint app. It had kept my settings from October when I first rooted and I had formatted my SD card.

Android Police got a leak off the apk on from ICS.

When I installed it it keeps going into it then immediately FC. Can anyone fix this and post it or know how I could fix it?
having the same problem. would love to see this working but i cannot figure out the fc issues either. tried clearing data after signing in and a restart and still fc's. even tried pushing to system/app. someone help us )

if it was leaked from ics than its probably formatted for ics framework and hdpi screens so it wouldn't work anyway

Actually on the Eris people have gotten it to work but with different roms. Also if thats true why would the Google+ and new market ICS leaks install an work?
+1 here! I have tried all current versions (i.e. 4.0.0, 4.0.1, 4.0.1.5) I can use version 3 with no problems. I have tried upgrading and on a fresh install. I have also tried clearing data and allowing sync as was suggested in the apps thread. It seems the Hero is the only one FCing. If anyone figures out a work around please let me know.
same problem here
Looked around on other forums, I was amazed, almost every phone had a fix for this... maybe our phone's finally obsolete... I hope not though.

Was the issue with other phones similar to ours (i.e. FCing)? If so what was the issue and/or work around? Maybe we could try to find a work around ourselves!? I wonder if V. 4 requires a newer version of OpenGL. I know the previous versions required V. 2.0 of OpenGL??? Let me rip apart the apk and see what I can find.

Yes, the majority deleted the old music.apk then pushed the new apk to system/app and changed the permissions. I tried this, didn't work... Maybe OpenGL is the issue, I know the LG optimus subforum has it worked out, not sure what OpenGL version their phones run. But if you find anything I'll be glad to help test!

Well I looked at the apk and V.4 calls for OpenGL V. 131072 and according to my phone running FauxICS beta 2 I have version 65537. Not sure if that is an issue or not. I also noticed "android:hardwareAccelerated="true". I changed the OpenGL version in my build.prop to match version 4 but in the end it still force closed. Then I tried changing the hardware accelerated to false but that made no difference. I'll look and see if I can find anything else but does anyone have any suggestions or ideas?

Anybody had any success getting the market version installed? I saw back in May it was pretty easy to do (change the opengl line in build.prop), but when I tried that today, it still wouldn't let me install through market.
I'm running a 3.0.333 .apk that I found online somewhere, and it works great, but it might be nice to see what I'm missing with the update

Not to resurrect a dead thread, but it's suddenly become relevant again. My non-market APK just auto-updated to the market version 4.1.513, and it works flawlessly.
So that's cool.

Hello everyone,
So amazon finally shows some love towards the old continent androids and gives us the appstore. But the new version lacks 2.1 SDK support.
Anybody got any idea how to work around this and have some joy on nook ?
The older versions still say that the region is not supported.
Sent from my HTC Sensation using Tapatalk 2
Oh well ... modified the last version's manifest to install it and it worked, but no joy using it.
Could sign in with my amazon account and then get this:

No lists on the bottom frame ...
I guess something is wrong
I would hate to going into the decompiled code and layouts to get it fixed.
You could always check logcat and see if it gave you any hints.
