i know a lot of sensation users are gonna think im crazy but i really feel like moving to a wp7 device and since im on TMOUS, i only have one choice right now. the reason is i want to switch is because of the new mango update. i had wp7 on my hd2 but of course the battery wouldnt charge correctly and the browser was horrible! other than that i loved wp7, everything is simple no need to mod or change things. and the new talk of the update makes me miss the os.
now this is where u come in!! do u think the update was very significant, how is the browser compared to before? any problems i should know about the phone, like the sensation has some touchscreen issues? i would really love your guy's input, and if anyone is selling their device id be happy to purchase it.
PMed you a offer, please check.
and i haven't found any problems with the touchscreen or screen related on my device, i dont know about others.
I just bought my HD7 and updated to Mango. I totally love it. I came from the HD2 with Mango on it. There is a huge difference to me. It is so much smoother going from window to window or moving up and down on the tiles. Internet browser works great. I have no complaints until now. The only down side to this is that there isn't as much development as the HD2. After you experience this you will not go back. I say buy an HD7 and move on.

This is actually what I was hoping for. I think its better that there is no need for development. I'm at a point in my life where I don't have time to be messing with phones. I loved WP7 on my hd2 as well, so Im glad u had input from that prospective. I think I'm gonna do it and then prolly buy the HTC radar once my 6 month full upgrade comes around. Although the 8gb starage is a turnoff. Hopefully it can be modified like I've seen on the hd7.
Well thanks for the responses. And others feel free to give ur input still. And yes still looking for phone offers

I would hang on to your Sensation until T-Mobile gets some new hardware. I have both a Sensation and a HD7. Mango runs flawlessly on the HD7. It does everything my Sensation does, but better (with the exception of Flash and WiFi tethering). But in hand, the Sensation feels absolutely amazing. I'm hoping to have the Titan or something nice from Nokia land on T-Mobile. Someone will buy it and then demand an Android device, and I will come to their rescue.
WP7 is better than Android or iOS. Just my .02.

since this post and got the hd7 and have had it for 2 weeks.
and idk if i got a bad sensation, but the hd7 screen (i feel) brings out colors a lot better especially whites. and i have to agree i am loving wp7.5 mor than android, i havent owned an iphone since the 3gs but i feel wp7.5 is more convenient. of course i miss the wide selection of apps and flash but these things take time.
im not a fan of the giant screens, i actually feel i would like the radar better but the 8gb storage sucks and the screen is a little too small for me.... my pickiness is a killer lol.

I did just the opposite, switched from HD7 to sensation, and yeah you are right about the wp7 I too do really miss it.Good thing is that mom has my HD7 and after a bit of convincing I can get it back for a few days of course..

Hi, I have a spare mobile hd7, barely used, sim unlocked and upgraded to mango 7.5, let me know if you are still interested tnx ^_^
I love playing with phones. My screen died on my HD2 UltimateDroid. Insurance only covered another windows phone. They sent an HD7 Mango.HD7 running Deep Shining ROM. I felt limited as to apps and customization. HD7 is great for it's simplicity and social network integration. I also have a Sensation running Virtuous Inquisition ICS 4.0. Battery life is better with the HD7. Both can be tweaked to get better battery life. I have way more control over everything I do with Android and 4g, dual core. Because of the lack of battery life. I carry both! Custom ROMs so if I run outta juice, I switch SIMs LOL. I have to say the Sensation is a monster. I guess it's really user's preference!

Hi,
What do you mean? if you mean wifi, yes. HD7 can. but I frequently just use the data plan except when in areas with wifi.
Was considering Desire HD and HD7 the other time. went to Singtel, my local tele provider and heard from their sales HD7 not on sale yet but with ex-stock. then i review WP7 on their demo set of LG Optimus and was sold. HD7 did not disappoint. super fast and slick.
But you gotta understand it is still in its early stages of developments. not as much apps and stuff in marketplace. so gotta wait for some time. and the options to change in the phone is quite limited. but nonetheless, it has got enormous potential. that is wat i am sold on.
Also, i am tired of the old android and iphone interface so WP7 is something new.
Cons of HD7 is the soft ringtone, sms and alarms. the volume is really soft. but for games, blown away playing Sims3 on it.
Also, batt life is short. average usage is 1 day. NEED to charge daily. but not a concern for me since I have always plug my phone in daily.
Lastly, because it is dammn new in the market, not much accessories available. so using it bare now with Martin Fields protector. Hope to get more accessories real soon.
Conclude: Did not regret 1 bit getting the phone. really impressed by WP7 and look forward to improvements rumoured in Jan 2011.
hopefully I helped.

its really personal choice
I like the design of the HD7 more, but its personal.
Android is better for apps and configurability, but the screen display is a mismash of ideas and having active widgets on the home screen is fiddly and uses up power rapidly.
Windows Phone is much slicker and easier to use, and the active tiles are genius and will become more powerful over time. However the apps are limited (although all the essential stuff and good games are there).
You pays your money and takes you choice
IMHO WP7 is at the beginning and buying the HD7 means that you have many years of cool software updates and support
I assume, by wifi hotspot, you mean using the phone as a wifi router, using the phone's data connection.
This isn't an option at the moment - you can't even use the data via a cable.
Whether this is something that will be added, or something MS agreed never to introduce to save the network's data, I don't know.
If I never needed to use a phone as a wifi router, I'd probably just charge up my old Touch Pro, and use that.
i was thinking of getting an HD7 from craigslist for $275. first of all, and most importantly, is this a fair price? second, i was wondering if you guys can tell me what the HD7 can do in terms of hacking/jailbreak/root (whatever you call it for WP7) and custom roms. also, i want to know if the phone can be unlocked easily. i'm a complete noob on WP, but know my way around android and ios, so thought i might try something different. thanks.

275 isn't bad for a 2 month old phone. As for unlocking, the only form of unlocking, besides SIM, is developer unlocking to sideload any xap you want. At the moment the HD7 is damn near fully functional. Just the other day the guys on here unlocked the secret to tethering on HTC WP7s. We've got registry editors, file explorers, mass storage hack, custom colors for any part of the theme, custom ringtones/alarms/alerts, desktop-device file transfer, copy and paste (coming in the update)...so were doin well. No custom Roms as far as I know though. Unnecessary really. Don't wanna end up with buggy, laggy crap like Android...

Don't know what WM7 is but WP7 is much smoother and is faster in general than Android, thanks in part to a GPU accelerated UI. Android has a few features that WP7 doesn't have at the moment but its also 3 years older than the 2 month old WP7.
Android is a fantastic UI, no way you can knock it and the application market is now as huge as the mighty Apples, but I can't see where the development is going on Android, seems the next big step will be not gingerbread with its small additions, but a form of Honeycomb for non tabs, I feel that Android for me seems ever so slightly old, comfortable and roomy, where as WP7 is young, sporty and ready for more and the UI maybe basic, but its fresh and lively to use which makes using it a joy, so I would say going for any WP7 phone at the moment is a good choice.

you should deffo get a HD7 as thus far it is the best phone out. I really wanted the samsung omnia 7 but was forced down the hd7 route instead and since doing so i have used the omnia and can say it was the right path for me. Though the phone is quite massive it actually feels very slim and much nicer in the hand as well as looking much sexier.
Correct or not, an HD7 sounds better, as the letter H is pronounced 'aitch'. Since you make the A sound, it seems natural to throw an in front of it.
275 isn't a bad deal. Worst case you could sell it to a third party type phone company. I know of one that currently pays 200 for HD7's.

that HD2 is running the updated ROM coming out next week, of course it'll be faster.

I've only heard about defects with that phone. Never played with one in person though.
$275 is a great deal considering I bought my fiance an HD7 for $300 off craigslist a few weeks ago.
the Venue Pro not the regular Venue?
Nevermind... I trotted on over to the DVP forum...
yeesh. just bought my boss an 8 gig model earlier today... let's hope it doesn't have these issues!!
The venue is android, the venue pro is windows phone 7 with a portrait keyboard.

I would say, that you should go for the HD7. It's without any doubt the WP7 device at the moment. Great, big screen, fast OS and much, much more things. I'm totally satisfied with the HD7 although games load a little bit slow. But with the NoDO-Update, games should get a boost from what I've seen. And the HD2-thing: I can't hear it anymore! "Buy a HD2", "If you want a good phone, then buy the HD2". The only good OS that you can have on the HD2 is WP7, 'cause Android on the HD2 is laggy and WM is pretty crappy anyways. And WP7 is the HD7's stock-OS. So, why should one buy the HD2?
Hey guys,
Bought an Evo 3D and am still within my month to return it. I am a heavy M$ Office User and the new Mango features seem to have better overall integration between People and Email/IM's, etc than Android.
Question, should I dump the EVO 3D and get an HD7 and run the Mango beta?
if i was you i wouldn't, i think evo 3d is awesome and it's the best phone's out there.
The problem with the Mango beta and current WP7 releases (NODO and 7004) are that they are still either unfinished (Mango) or lacking in features. However, you can be sure that the software will utilize the hardware to its full potential as WP7 is just as smooth as iOS and just as snappy as the new dual core devices. The EVO 3D, while a monster on paper, cannot take advantage of its hardware as Android is yet to be optimized for multi-core devices (why the Nexus S is single core). There is still no guarantee than Ice Cream Sandwhich (if the EVO 3D receives it) will fully take advantage of the hardware. All Windows Phone 7 devices are basically guaranteed updates and the Mango update will bring the software up to date with its competitors.
In the end, its your choice. I personally find no use for dual cores apart from heavy multitasking and a great way to boast about your smartphone. WP7 is just as snappy, if not faster than the EVO 3D since the Sense overlay on the EVO heavily drains system resources. If you want 3D however, then you know what to choose.
All the speed etc is kind of a given at this point. I am most interested in the Contacts / Calendar / Phone / Messaging integration.
For instance, i want to be able to pull up a contact and instantly access all of the emails, calls and messages I have to them. Android doesn't do this well. Does Mango?
Mango is able to pull a list of all the calls, texts, messenger, FB chat, wall posts, and emails from a particular contact or a specific group of contacts. Twitter presumably will also have this functionality in a later build of Mango.
Just stick with the evo3d the hd7 mango is only a beta don't take the risk. The evo3d is already completed.
Sent from my HD7 using XDA Windows Phone 7 App
I've played around with the EVO 3D a bit and it's a pretty nice phone. The 3D effect is hit or miss, I have a hard time getting it just right, but aside from that it's a good phone. Wait til Mango is officially out and then decide, if you're still feeling like it you could pick up a super cheap HD7 by that point, or you could sell the Evo 3D and jump ship to a newer Mango phone.
I'm running Mango beta on my HD7 I can guarantee you that you will not want to go back to Android this **** is amazing the people hub the info for each of your contacts has everything number, email,Facebook pics, text call and chat history. The live tiles in mango are nice they show more info.

Nexus vs HD7
I have the Nexus S ... when i saw the beta (mango 7.5) i ran and got me a HD7 last week... Now i love the flow of the interface!! Mango makes the phone a lot better from what I played with a few months ago (beside HTC makes ****ty Phones **** signal all around town)... only problem i have is the Contacts!!!! when importing contacts from google.. No custom labels, not able to have more then one Mobile number, but you can have 2 home number WTF!!!! not able to assign custom ringtone to individual contacts . if they **** all that with some good hardware i will trade on android in a heartbeat
One more thing to consider is whether the boffins out there will come up with a Mango port for the Evo 3D?
This never happened on the EVO 4G with W7 because, well, W7 sucked and no one really wanted to bother. But if Mango is all that, we may get a better effort.
My evil plan
Ok, here's what I have decided to do:
For today only, if you sign up for new service on T-mobile, the HD7 is FREE. I also have 20 days to try it out and see if i like it.
So, basically I ordered the phone (which I will get tomorrow) and will try out Mango on it. If I like it I will keep it and cancel Sprint. If not, it goes back and I only lose the pro-rated portion of my $79.95 monthly unlimited plan (MUCH cheaper than Sprint's plan BTW).
Results
Well I got my HD7 and have had some time to play with it.
My overall reaction is as follows:
1) It is sloooooow. Surfing the web even on wifi was torturous.
2) The screen sucks. Web pages looked flat and pixelated.
3) I had forgotten how "limiting" W7 feels after the full blown freedom of Android. I sensed I was working in a box with few options. This is twice now I have looked at W7 and both times the main thought that occurred to is wondering why the hell it took MS to put this out - there is really so little to it.
4) I am not even going to bother trying to install mango on this because there is no way I will keep this hardware - did I mention it is slooow?
I think my main problem is that I have been using an EVO 3D prior to this and I am just completely spoiled by the amazing speed and beauty of the screen.
I will be sending it back tomorrow. Will look at W7 again in 6 months when Mango is official and they have some quality hardware to go with it. I am glad did this because I basically scratched an itch and I also now appreciate my EVO 3D about 100 times as much.
I have an HD7, and mango beta preinstalled, and although I like the feel and things you can do with WP7 its still not a complete package.
SO yeah you made the right choice, as for Me I will wait untill NOKIA releases their WP7 phones, as I still believe they have the best hardware then any mobile maker and hopefully wp7 might work wonders for them

Slow? As in laggy? The Mango browser is much faster than the one that comes with Nodo if you are wondering. And Mango hardware basically means a Qualcomm MSM8255, another single core chip.
WP7 is not made for full blown customization that you get on Android. It is directed towards those who don't prefer to sit all day moving around widgets and icons, but would like a phone that they can glance at and go. Part of the beauty of the OS is the simplicity itself. I have seen enough Android homescreens ruined by heaps of icons and mismatched widgets.
You are one of the few people who have complained about WP7 being slow. Perhaps your device is faulty, but my HD7 is perfectly fast and fluid.
What are you people all about, if you like the hippy os ea Android, buy one. WP 7 is the best so far, for so many reasons.
He most likey purchased the phone which, out of the box, doesn't have NoDo installed. I had to update my girl's when she got hers. The browser and loading of apps is slow compared to NoDo phones. Update to NoDo the phone gets faster. Update to Mango, it gets super fast. There are no android phones that I've seen, thus far, including the Evo 3D, that is as fast as the Mango build. And, that's a beta.
I have a DVP and am gonna jump at the first Nokia device that hits Tmobile. Samsung device looks nice but Sammy scares me with their screwy firmware and slow updates (they do this on android too). We may also see some other interesting HW for WP7. The rumored Eternity from HTC looks nice. But, 4.7" screen is kinda on the large side. Don 't wanna feel like I'm talking into a laptop.
You know what I think....
The hardware like EVo 3D running WP7 Mango
I ditched the whole Wp7 thing and went back to the best . Android FTW!

I Moved from Android And Love WP7 Personally, But You should look at the features that you need and use in android and find out if they are present in WP7.
Personally I know you'll have a shock when you notice how 2 phones with the same processors act differently, WP7 seems to really utilise the processor for speed, I sat in an o2 store using both models and within 10 minutes I knew I wanted the HD7.. It just felt more fluid and I like the way that it seamlessly integrates everything
WP7 is very pleasing to the eye and personally I Like it, but if you're gonna miss the features in Android i'd suggest don't move.
If you update to the developer build of mango you would get to see the shocking speeds of that too, it seems to make the phone even faster, and not by just a little bit, by a heck of a lot!
The apps are pricey however, one of the setbacks of the Xbox live system and the fairly new operating system sadly.
These are my opinions on the phones, but personally you might think differently
Thank you for your input; I've was always into WinMo and moved over to Andriod.
Didn't give WP7 a shot yet, though I must admit that it seems to be more faster and fluid than andriod. The applications are my concern..but I do need a change
let's see if anyone else would like to share their experience...
EDIT: does WP7 support VOIP/SIP?? That would be a deal breaker for me.
Thanks.
Hi,
Android graphically resembles a little win 6th. It has great potential but they really are useful for small percent of people. WP7 is a new OS, still far from perfect, but moving in the right direction. It is good that Nokia will work. This will force the great progress and I think at the end of the year we will already have a good system.
Personally I have HTC HD7 and HTC IS and I am not going to get rid HD7.
Regards
Hi everyone I'm just wondering if there are some of you who are still happy with your hd7 and wp7 in general. I had an hd7 before the nodo update and ended up trading for a mt4g. For the short time I loved the phone but it was lacking some features I was used to. Ive been using android since the g1 and pretty much have had all android phones on T-Mobile. I guess I'm getting a little bored with android and I'm thinking about going back to wp7. Should I go ahead and pick up an hd7 or should I wait until mango is out?
Also did nodo really make that much of a difference?

Hi dnguyen1988,
I have a HD7 and am very happy with it, the performance of the handset and the O/S are slick as hell and the Mango Beta i have on it is a massive improvement to the already worthy (in my opinion) daily driver.
However i can tell you that as soon as Nokia release their WP7 (Sea Ray?) handset i will be selling the HD7 and grabbing one of those with both hands. Carl zeiss optics and decent speakers/volume are what they are going to bring to the table, maybe more but just the better camera and speakers will be enough for me.
So in short my opinion would be to wait and see what they release withy official Mango.
Hope this helps,
Creamy
Thanks I think that's what I'm going to do I've always heard good things about Nokia hardware so hopefully the searay will be awesome. Do u know what kind of display it'll use?

With the latest firmware/radio update from HTC combined with Mango 7712 this thing is like a new Phone. I'm quite happy with it and look forward to the official Mango update.
I'm happy with mine except my phone is too sensitive if i touch at the back cover especially at the bottom part it always vibrate and goes to Bing.Sent for repair and was told that the mobo have a problem so they change it to new one.But it still happens once in awhile.I think it's not the mobo it's a bug from the wp7.
I still love my HD7. It has only gotten better over time. With Mango 7712, it's almost perfect.
USB Storage and tethering were my two biggest gripes. USB Storage was fixed using USB Storage Enabler (not full-fledged USB Storage mode but good enough for transporting files). Tethering was there with DFRouter until Mango disabled it. Sucks but not a deal breaker for me.
I liked Android too but will never go back after using my HD7 for 8 months or so. WP7 has everything Android does, it just does it better.
i have an HD7, however i've not upgraded to mange beta yet, which brings a lot things to WP.
i think without mango, android is far far better than WP7,
all you got with WP7 is a nice user interface, which android has a theme exactly like that and you could simulate WP7 even with android.
regards
Must Say Mango is brilliant on the HD7 its like a new phone.......
I am waiting for the official release of MANGO as the BEta is just brilliant.
But I would suggest you wait for the Nokia Phones, I am definately grabbing one cause nokia does the best hardware.
and Mango will rock for sure

Also did nodo really make that much of a difference?

You traded it out too early. If you upgraded it to Mango even just Mango Beta it will be so charming that will shock you.
國外的手機還真是便宜,我們只好用一樣手機就要用到精通。感覺hd7的潛力很大,並且硬件就目前來說還是沒有問題的
Giz,English plz!

Hi, I found that my Android device did not sync calendar and contacts properly with OUTLOOK on my notebook, which I need professionally. Additionally I could not import my EXCEL and POWERPOINT data. So, I purchased an WP7 device in strong belief that this would solve my problems. But alas, WP7 has a sexy UI but is such a weak OS (including the rudimentary Office package), missing manifold capabilities. Now I am completely disappointed. I cannot understand, how anyone can design a smartphone which falls far back the features of Win Mobile ? Though he sounds much more enthusiastic, I recommend to read Peter Bright's review on the website of arstechnica. Android at least offers a huge bundle of apps, which can help to find a reasonable solution to most (but not all) problems. In comparison Microsoft's marketplace seems to be a kindergarten with mostly toys and few serious apps.
Anyone who now uses a WIN Mobile device for professional reasons shall be extremely cautious before purchasing a WP7 device: it is not comparable at all.
My HD7 is currently on the sidelines waiting for the Mango update. I have a HTC Sensation that is pulling daily duty right now. I'm excited for the new release on WP7. This is the first phone I distort sell when it was time to get a new one. My Sensation better enjoy its time in the spotlight as it will have to move aside when I go back to WP7.
My single-core Snapdragon Windows Phone runs just as smooth, if not more, as my dual-core 1.5ghz Sensation. WP7 is great.

this is my second time send my HD7 for servicing.1st due to sensitivity always go to previous page or go to Bing.Today send again due to device can't switch on.I was told it was a hardware problem. (for both)
I'm on my third HD7 since January.
They aren't very rugged, but look pretty.
I like the large display, but don't like to try reaching acrossed it with my thumb when doing other activities.
Ive had a number of issues, Screen sensitivy, Call completion, and Blue Tooth failures.
I'm in the process of moving to a new phone again...with four email accounts and calendars, it is a realy PITA event.
I know a ton of people who own WP7s and most like the Samsung on ATT best.
Loving my HD7 even more with the offical Mango release.
Very happy with my HD7 and Mango, but I would really like some new hardware similar to my Sensation.
C'mon Titan. Find your way to T-Mobile.
