Honeycomb official update question - Dell Streak 7

http://www.androidcentral.com/dell-streak-7-honeycomb-update-has-arrived-some
So is this upgradable only from froyo, or can it be used to update from the Honeystreak? Haven't looked at all the details yet, as I'm still at work.
Thanks if you find anything out gang.
Update:
Moved thread from Dev to General

That makes no sense that it's only upgradeable from GB seeing as gb for s7 never existed

Proof or its not happening.

Iv got s7 wifi from uk but still says no update
What im worryed about its that my service tag has changed to the usa version

My s7 wifi says no update still

wonder if stage ui makes it over to honeycomb

It should, the s10 has stageui 1.7 and it's highly likely the s7 will too.
I did a write up here if anyone is interested in knowing the difference between the various stageui versions.

cool so stageui 1.7, you can use stage widgetswith any launcher?
You're all over this stuff TheManii..

on any HC device yes, it's not available yet though as no dump is available yet
it wont work on anything before 3.0

how would I even update this if and when it does come out?

I wonder how long it will take a mod to come and move this to general where it belongs When I first saw the thread title "Honeycomb official update" and it was in development I got excited thinking I'd find a link to a system dump or something.. But it was not related to development at all.. bummer. OP should get stoned to death for getting people excited.. hehehe

Instead of throwing rocks you can throw your s7's at him, dont mind me if i catch one and take it to dev on

Thanks for the link! However, when you go to install it, it says that it's a model mismatch in Android recovery.
any ideas?

I'll start preparing it, i KNEW that it was due to another unknown rom version.
The device version is different too, it's GLUNB1A2, vs GLUNB1A1 for normal wifi/3-4g devices and rom version 340.
Is that from your S7 Xi2Wicked?
If it is could you make a nandroid/nvflash dump before updating? as 340 for this device revision (and in general) hasnt been dumped

[PRJ] CM6 system 8/27/2010 ALPHA

Here is the CM6 system built last night by me. Go ahead and do whatever you want with it. This is for those having issues building. Here it is
www.justanotherdev.slackdev.com/froyo.tgz
This is not a ready to flash ROM but just the system folder from the CM6 build for people to play with.
This is for devs looking to play with CM6 which was compiled for the vibrant and not just a generic build. This is NOT A READY TO FLASH ROM. I just built went to sleep and threw this up for people.
Enjoy!

Where was that indicated? There are only two how-tos on the Wiki for CM6 of relevance for Galaxy S/Vibrant: building the CM6 kernel from source, and updating the Galaxy S/Vibrant to CM6. However, the "Full Update Guide" includes the following caveat: NOTE: As of right now CyanogenMod is not available for the Samsung Vibrant.
There are no full instructions on the wiki for building CM6, nor for truly updating a Vibrant since CM6 has not been built for the Vibrant. You will also not find even an alpha release, nor any nightlies.
For those who don't understand why this is the case, or why flashing a ROM through Odin is different than through the recovery console, it's probably best to wait until there is a "one-click" for you ...
so many people are going to download this without realizing that this is for development only and not even for use yet

Patiently waiting for "one-click"....
Sorry if you took that as a genuine offer of advice, but it was meant as a sarcastic retort. People who don't understand what is technically involved in "rooting", what it means to "mount" a device or where the line between Linux and Android lays really have no basis in asking for aid when things go awry. (Sorry if I offend you, but seriously, you're asking for help in a development thread without knowing about which what you're actually asking for help? Really? Seriously?!)
No one has created a reliable method to fully supplant the Vibrant's recovery console, the OTA package that is normally used to flashed Android devices cannot be properly compiled and packaged for the Vibrant, users are still having issues building an AOSP directory structure—let alone a truly usable boot.img—and a complete system replacement is expected?! It really is no wonder why those really building apps and systems for various Android platforms avoid XDA, and leave it to those merely "cooking" as was previously the standard with WinMo.
(When is the interrobang going to be finally accepted as a true form of punctuation?! Really?!)
nice work, seems like a lot of devs are finally on this

People don't stay away from XDA because of the sometimes foolish questions people ask. They stay away because of the way they get treated by pompous d*cks like you that have no tolerance for people trying to learn and enjoy their devices more.
Everyone starts out without a clue and without help from others we'd all still be drooling on ourselves and sh*tting in our diapers.
Grow up and help out... or just go away.

Does CM7 for CDMA VZW Tab Exist?

Pretty much what the title says. I know spacemoose1 is working hard on Honeycomb and I love what he has released so far. I have seen CM7 for GSM and was just curious if it was out for CDMA yet or if there are plans to do so. And if not, I would be willing to work with whoever to try to get it released.
Nope there is not yet only for gsm but that could probably he ported to cdma with some changes and a new kernal i should think. But not too sure.
Sent from my GT-P1000 using XDA Premium App
I'd be willing to do any kind of testing to help a port for CM7 on the CDMA (sprint) Tab..
It does not exist.
There was one person interested in doing it, and he may be joinging the project. I think he also did a test build based on Froyo kernel. He is kind of quiet recently so probably he has other stuff on his mind.
But with new Gingerbread kernel I am much further ahead. To catch up the first thing is to port the Gingerbread kernel to CDMA and port modemctl and other things from CDMA Froyo kernel.
this sure does sound very interesting. i too wouldnt mind doing some test flashing for any developers. i flashed cm7 for a while on my Tbolt and i loved it. i had to revert cuz i didnt know about flashing gapps. anyways, id like to stay updated on this thread

I did notice that we have a full AOSP CDMA ROM in the forums. I am currently looking for someone to provide me with temp download links that they have so I can host it on my site. Seems the site they where using has sucked up all its bandwidth.

"Gen8v2" and Gen9 firmware available

I'm not sure if this qualifies as development, but there are two unreleased firmwares floating around the Archos update server.
One is for a Gen8v2, which I have no idea what that is. It won't install onto current release models of the Gen8 lineup. I've tried on my A70IT and my A101IT.
http://update.archos.com/8/gen8v2/gen8v2_2.3.72/firmware_archos_android_gen8.aos
Then the surprising thing, is that there is a Gen9 firmware available!
Could possibly be a pre-release firmware, or possibly even release firmware.
http://update.archos.com/9/gen9/gen9_3.1.11/firmware_archos_it4.aos
Now the question is... Can anyone get into the .aos files?
I figured I'd share with the community here. This information was brought to my attention from another user at the ArchosFans forum (Bobo, a new user there).
Before anyone posts "no, you can't get into it", remember this is an unknown firmware, it could use a different public key, no key, who knows. So unless you can test the gen7 method or a new brute method, don't just post "no".
where did you get these from?
The link that they're hosted on. Right from Archos' update site.
I wonder is the "v2" could just mean the second beta for the new firmware.

That's kind of what I'm leaning towards, as the firmware numbering scheme matches up with what should be next for Gen8 devices.
The only problem is that it won't install, it gives an error saying it's for a different device. Maybe Archos did that so even if we found unreleased firmware, we couldn't install it.

The world needs more optimists
The new firmware for gen8 isn't Honeycomb, because the gen9 Honeycomb firmare is about 160MB and the gen8's is only 86MB
yea, but we do need at least gingerbread, otherwise that frontfacing camera is pretty much useless
Or it could be a firmware for the recently announced Archos 70b or whatever it's called.... the upcoming budget tablet, clearly with it's thumb in the Kindle Fire's eye, running Honeycomb but based on the original Gen8 hardware.
i cant wait to get this firmware.......ive only had my tab for 1 month and im using adw right now.....

Don't create thousands of new threads about Gingerbread!!!
Wait until the end of September, then you've got the update.
Can a mod please delete all the GB threads and put it into one big thread?

And the thanks of me wasn't intentionally.

Yeah... we can only wait... hopefully GB will come this month.
But I was wondering, in the case of "Carrier dependant" firmwares (which seems to be the case for me (cf. Bouygues / France)), is it possible to have an update to V20.. from V10C ? Or do they need to update through all other versions first (V10C to V10D to V10E.....to V20)?
It doesn't matter on which version you are. You can update straight away

CM7 (Android 2.3.7) for N7000 must of existed, at one point?

Hi All,
In my quest to try find a pure clean Gingerbread rom for the N7000 for old times, and nostalgic memories (from other devices).
After hearing there was no source, and it never happened... I've just noticed this post from another website, that claims it did... right up to Android 2.3.7 (the last of the Gingerbread) as all the bloated roms I see on GB are based on 2.36.
It appears the rom came from our very own, this site.... XDA. http://www.landofdroid.com/2011/samsung-galaxy-note-gets-unofficial-cm7-treatment/
Does anyone know anything about it, where I can find it...?? If you have it, can you please upload it.... And why is it so elusive?? As I thought GB was safe from the eMMC, and that it was only stock or leaked ICS kernels that were unsafe??
Thanks, Lister
Hi All,
Anyone know anything about this rom? Apparently it originated and was born from XDA forums...
If anyone has this file, would be very very interested, thank you... Lister
Same here but it seems it has disappeared...
well if someone have a backup please upload it, this is a legendary rom
Hi All,
Ok guys, a bit more research on the CM7 rom that was built for the Note (N7000) via someone here on the XDA forums....
I have since found these websites, giving more info about it...
http://mobiputing.com/2011/11/unofficial-cyanogenmod-7-build-for-the-samsung-galaxy-note/
and,
http://webcache.googleusercontent.c...ml+&cd=1&hl=en&ct=clnk&gl=uk&client=firefox-a
And the file we are all seeking is called.... update-cm-7.1.0-GalaxyNote-kang-signed.zip
If anyone has the above file, please could they let us know... I can't believe this rom, its thread, and the many users who may of flashed it back then, have all disappeared...???
Or was this the reason behind the eMMC BrickBug? (even though GB was supposedly safe?)
Thanks guys, hopefully we can find it...
Cheers, Lister
best way is to PM the rom creator netchip for the file.
could you do that i am too interested!
Hi ASMI1,
Aye, that would be good... but looks like it might be "easier said, than done" as it would appear NetChip has been banned from this community...
So not sure how else we can find out any more about this rom, I would of thought someone who had this phone in the earlier days might of had a backup of this rom... we just gotta hope someone who has, read this post....
Thanks, Lister

yeah that's our only hope for now
even google show no trace for this rom
Hi ASMI1,
Trust me, I've totally exhausted the Google searches.... Tried every kind of possible variant to try and find it....
N7000, i9220, i-717, Galaxy Note....
Thats how I got and found as much as I have so far... I just can't believe who ever uploaded it, only loaded it ONE SOURCE ever.... As that source is now dead, the link just takes you to spam / malware post...
Can't believe the thousand's who have this phone, neither remember it, backed it up, or are showing no interest in recovering it....
Sure, its a dated firmware, and with Lollipop just round the corner... But surely, everyone wants to step back in time once in a while, for old times sake... CM7 was a fine rom, even has powerful stuff in it, thats missing from all future builds...
Hopefully someone might come to our aide soon...

Whats up with GB? Didnt the phone come with stock install
Hi @drulo222,
Yes, it did... But it only got as far as GB (Android 2.3.5 or 2.3.6) and was some 600 - 900Mb download, full of bloatware, lacked features other than TW stuff... and was badly optimized....
At least with the usual CM stuff, CM7 was only around 100Mb rom for this device, was running the latest and last GB build (Android 2.3.7) and so it would be nice just to see a polished version on our Device.... Esp for all those who grew up with CM7 on other devices (ie: my original ZTE Blade). It would appear at least a build was made for this device, but was only ever uploaded to one filehost, which now gives you MALWARE when visited... And all the users of N7000 appear to have never seen it...?????
Cheers, Lister

I thought cm is open source project; each one being incremented. I'm not sure if any cm would 100% percent be build for any particular version, yet this type of phone? Take the builds and see that there is always a newer one... but sure, that doesn't guaranty compatibility. I am saying cm7 probably isnt as expected from people... especially on more sophisticated phones. Anyway. id install one for test purposes.
Hi All,
Whilst still on the ever (elusive) hunt for CM7 for our Note/N7000.... I've uncovered more evidence that it did at one time exist...
https://www.reddit.com/r/Android/comments/m1ai2/cm7_makes_it_to_galaxy_note/
So please, please, can you cheack your HDDs, or ya SD Cards, those who may of played around with it in the past (before I got my phone) and if ya have a copy of it, please re-upload it...
Many thanks, Lister
The more I see on this, the more I am starting to think this is bullsh*t.... and that no one here ever did manage to get CM7 working on the trusty Note!!!
Lack of posts, refences leads me to think we have more chances of finding Elvis alive than this elusive CM7 rom???
http://www.landofdroid.com/2011/samsung-galaxy-note-gets-unofficial-cm7-treatment/
Hi All,
Finally, I have found the thread where CM7 once existed for our Note. Even if NO ONE is aware it ever existed....
It appears it was almost complete, but then got pulled because it did not boot.... / Much like the build of CM7 on the i9100... that never booted on it's own, yet got published all over the place, inc the official CyanogenMod website back in the day... I managed to get the CM7 for i9100 with a custom Gingerbread kernel.
I feel that's all that's needed for the Note/N7000....
If anyone has this ROM, I don't care how complete/dangerous they think it is... 99% of failed flashes are fixed by official firmware and Odin. Grew up on CM7 with my first Smartphone, would be cool to see it on the Note.
I know we have CM14.1 these days, which is even more awesome that the old Note is still living strong even today... But would also be cool to see the old times too on it... lol
/ someone must have the rom? lol
Cheers, Lister
