[Q] Vote - I will not buy another LG! - LG Optimus Black

Given the ridiculous delay of the Gingerbread release for the Optimus Black, which most of us bought partly due to the promise of 2.3 - Please vote below ONLY if you are an Optimus Black owner, waiting for Gingerbread.
Would you buy another LG Android device ever?
1.Yes
2.No
3.Maybe

Y, maybe. This weak support is general for all brands HTC, LG..

Yes. My OB runs fine on V11c. Using TW Launcher 4.5 and it runs almost as fast as my Atrix 4G. Just wait. . . "Good things come,to those who wait".
Motorola Atrix 4G

Y, maybe.... I ecperience the same thing with my LG P500, but still I bought Optimus Black... LG usually offers lower price compare to other brand with same hardware spec... About the software, just wait for custom ROM...

no..never big mistake with ob

i want to buy LG TV and curious of LU6200 , so i won't vote.. sorry

my answer is probably yes...
although the android 2.3 of optimus black seems willing to be released late,
the phone is still functioning perfectly with lg original rom or nova 8...

LG made a perfect little phone aside from the delay on the software. The phone works fine with 2.2. GB is a bonus at least for me.

Perfectly means 100% and noone can agree on that. I guess you wont update to 2.3 then when it comes out? And what if there was no nova? you cant defend LG just because we were lucky to get nova.

LG = untrusted brand

unfortunately, i wouldn't. their projects have good intentions but support and relationship with customers are really bad!

Altough this product looks good....i will never buy a phone made by LG.

I propose to send this thread to the LG. They should see what we think about their brand

Well there was a time when everyone hated samsung and swore the same thing. Look at them now. Universally aclaimed as the best phone on the market 5 months running.

the optimus black looks good, stylish, has great specs and a competitive pricetag... a very decent phone to own. i should say yes, but no... never. i will never buy another lg phone because of same reasons other people posted above.

it depends, I'm waiting until mid October to see if they keep their promise.
If GB is not out before at this date, it means that LG cannot be trust ("soon in GB" in their ads) so I would never buy LG anymore.

Apart from the bad sound quality(music over headphone jack) i cannot say a single thing that's not acceptable for me.
Also, with Launcher PRO it's a pretty usable device, and you have to count in that at this price point there isn't any competitor on the market. Oh btw you shouldn't care about 2.3(almost a year old) at this point, but you should care if there'll ever be 2.4!

Hell no
Lying to their customers is the worst they can do. They should never compromise the trust we gave to them.
I will save up and buy the nexus line after this. Fool me once LG, but not anymore.

[Q] Buy new phone. LG optimus 2x?

Hi
I have a motorola milestone smartphone. Now i have an opportunity that have a second new phone. I check the smartphone market and i decided the lg optimus 2x have the best buy/value rate.
What i need:
big screen (milestone hw keyboard will be missed but a big screen will help me out)
fast cpu and gpu (i see some test, some case lg beat even the overhyped sgs2)
solid rock TFT what is usefull in sunlight
elegant clean design
sgs2 is not an option, its too expensive and overhyped. buy/value rate is terrible. sgs2 almost cost like an iphone and a little better than O2X. its not woth it.
iphone is not an option because...i better dont say anything
i see some blog and post that optimus 2x software is not too good, but in here i found many more good custom rom, so i reflash the phone anyway, and the official gb rom is coming out any moment anyway. (my milestone also run a CM7 based rom, i almost never use the stock)...
...so the software gliches is not interested me.
based on the hardware and the design i think lg optimus 2x is worth the money.
so im right and lg optimus 2x is worth it, a good descendant for my milestone?
As you want it for CM, I would say it's worth it.
Unless you love FM radio & A2SP, then you're screwed
Muhahahaha
Edit: that was on behalf of LG developers

i dont like the sgs2, i hesitate between the o2x and desire s, but o2x is not just faster but much more elegant.
sgs2 too much overhyped and expensive, and i have negative experience with the company other products too, so i not buy sgs2, not even if sgs2 will the last android phone on earth
The Desire S is basically just a smaller Desire HD
For me optimus 2x was the worst buy ever. After 2 units I've bough SGS2.
I understand that for some people it can be expensive, but there is more phones better than O2X at the almost same price.
Take a look at Galaxy R I9103.

Here in Sweden it costs 399 euro.
If you like Tegra 2, it will be perfect phone for you. Anyway my advice is stay away from O2X.

Even if those phones are not dual core, the user experience is much, much better.

It's interesting how opinions are split. Those who had "problem" devices swear they'll never buy LG again. Those who've had no problems, or their problems went away after flashing a firmware update/CM/modaco rom etc. seem to be quite happy.
When I decided to buy my o2x it was on Amazon with a significant price cut, cheaper than basically any similar specced phone. I received a lemon which has now gone for repair. I don't know what your odds of getting a good, working device are if you buy this phone.
considering all the comments i still think that o2x is a good choice.
Hello. until the past week i was very satisfied by the O2x and i have stock room and works fine for me. The worst what happened to me is that my usb conection with pc don't work anymore. Works only the carging of battery. Don't advice you buy this phone or other from LG. what is cheap is bad.
I have to say that this phone I bought from LG recently was a good buy option. I have looked at the other options out there. If you're looking for Dual Core, there are better specs yes, but then again, the software which is out there hasn't yet utilized the dual core technology. Bang for buck, the optimus 2x is a good buy and this coming from a guy who is sticking to a stock rom and resisting the temptation to go over to CM7.
I had this phone for 2 days, I skipped the lg rom completely and installed cm7 directly
I think its a bargain for the price, problem is that the support is pretty ridiculous from both lg and nvidia not updating / releasing the code.
It could be a beast if well supported, for example Nvidia showed a prototype in February with Skype HD video calling thanks to 1080p video decoding in hardware, have you seen that released ? No, skype doesn't even support standard video calling because tegra 2 doesn't support the "skype technology" (NEON).
It's useless for companies to show off what they can do bla bla bla... if they never implement stuff!
A revolution could arrive in ICS if Google decides to use Tegra 2 as the standard hardware

Should I purchase the 2x?

Hi
I need a new phone, and I have come down to either the Optimus 2x or the Huawei Honor being the best options for me.
I am mostly interested in the 2x due to its good specs, however my research tells me that it was full of bugs to begin with. I am not very fond of using custom ROMs, so my question is, how is it running with the latest official update??
The latest official firmware (v20q) is very good. You will be satisfied on stock. However, if you ever want, installing custom rom is not a big deal. Do some reading in dev section and you are good to go. And there is very good stock based custom roms, which you can flash once and no need to change/upgrade anymore .
Thanks good to hear, I heard a few horror stories about the phone, but I think it was with the original rom which was full of bugs...so there is no problem with it today? (if updated)
I think it is a good phone but there are some better options out there.
My carrier, for instance offers the galaxy nexus for the exact same price today(it hadn't launched here when I got my O2x). SII seems to be better too, but it's also more pricy.
yeah but they seem more expensive. I think spec-wise you dont find a phone matching it for the price, I was just wondering about its actual use.

If you don't have a problem waiting for the ICS update go ahead
well, it should be out sometime this year, and if their 2.3 works well then I can easily wait
you should and you should use stock 20q rom with gueste kernel, his app for adjust everything is amazing, for example you turn on zram in there and low ram problem has gone
Great phone go ahead.

Physically the strongest phone I've used! matches the Nokia 3310 as far as im concerned, missed my pockets many of times and its gone crashing down to the concrete, screen hasn't cracked. I always use a screen protector so idk about scratches.
Stock roms are pretty slow, you cannot brick this phone so why not try Temaseks CM7? Lightning fast
Everyone loves to complain about the battery but that's life, depends how you use it.

Sorry to say but i actually agree.
The problems i had:
- for three months i couldn't make calls under 3g regardless of baseband /ril combo or rom. I wasn't the only one witht his problem, other people with LG had this problem too.
- the radio of the phone goes off randomly if you are in area with bad coverage and doesn't come back until you restart the phone.
- i have four bars and still sometime i can't receive calls, one time i was waiting a phone call and i was actually watching the phone and saw full coverage, i received a sms from my carrier saying " somebody called you while you were unreachable". It's a known problem that lg has never fixed, some devices have this problem some don't.
There are better phones for your money, personally i'll never buy anything from lg again. The 2x is a cheap phone with performance yes but it misses an important part: the phone itself (phone calls, radio signal) sucks.
Calling quality is bad, other than that, you can find many roms for it, that can work well and suit all your needs.

Got this phone secondhand for 190 euros. the phone will be overheated if you use it heavily during charging. No problem otherwise
If you want to buy it as second-hand phone (about 200€) I think you are going to make a good choise..if you are going to spend 300€ or more, you are doing a bad choise..the hardware is very good but the 2x tegra2 platform is no more supported by nvidia and lg is not so good in making software..so I think you are obliged to install a custom rom

What will be your next phone after the O2x?

Hey, just wanna know what your replacement will be.
Mine will be the sgs3. well dev support for this phone is highly supported and updates are seeding regularly. I am really disappointed for lg's lack of support for this phone i mean we've been waiting for the ics upgrade for months and still none. then jb came out, still no ics. what gives?
So, what will it be?
Very hard decision. I don't like the cover of the sgs3 and the HTC One X and LG Optimus 4X HD have Nvidia chipsets, so I think I won't buy any of these phones.
First, I wait for a new Nexus phone, because I like the instant updates.
First of all let we have ICS, replacing 2x w/o ICS upgrade is too early decision

If they don;pt hurry up with ICS for the 2x I'll get a nexus 7 soon and just tether it to the 2x.
Will wait for ICS upgrade.Till now the xda developers community had done an awesome job with GB.Love to fell the ICS on O2x tweaked by them:cyclops:.If LG decides to abandon O2x after delivering ICS update then no LG for me.Will discourage all possible buyers for LG products.Next device will obviously be Google nexus at least updates will be on time:laugh:.

Purchased this phone with high hopes just after its launch ignoring sgs2. But then LG has not handled its the then flagship mobile FIRST DUAL CORE IN THE MOBILE WORLD effectively. Whereas Samsung has given timely updates to the contemporary and parallel SGS2, LG has made a mess of it. Not only phone, LG's PC suite is the worst I have ever handled. In fact many of us including myself bricked my phone while taking official updates. Its for all these brilliant XDA DEV developers and Paul O'Brien from MODACO we are able to get the money's worth.
Doesn't know what I will buy next but not LG. But I have seen almost all the companies making this sort of mess with one or two of their models..Greatest among those were SE Xperia X10 which even had the bootloader locked. The strong developer community here took up the challenge and everyone of XDA knows what height they took Xperia X10 upto. Its really great for us that this community still exists and that too for free gives support to so many phones. Even my Xperia x10 mini which Sony ditched after 2.1 can now run Jellybean. Thanks again to all the Devs and contributors of xda developers once again.
If i was about to buy a new smartphone nowadays, I would prefer the Htc one S..very nice performance, if you don't mind the
smaller screen (4.2 or 4.3, don't remember now) and the supposely 'old dualcore cpu'. I was impressed by the benchmark tests I saw, even higher than the new quad core phones.

I bought myself a cheap Galaxy Nexus to replace my 1 year old O2X - it was just too tempting with the Jelly Bean release. But I will definately be looking at the next lineup supported by Google.
One thing is certain, I will never buy another phone from LG - their support and software for the O2X was a joke, I really hope they get their **** together soon (for everyone unfortunate enough to end up with one of their products).
Has anyone considered the HUAWEI line-up??
They are fairly cheap, good hardware and screens, incredible software support and , in my modest opinion, a very attractive design.
Look at where HUAWEI are present in modern communication technology today!!
They are all over, but covered by others facade.
Now they want to come out in the open and dont want to fail.
I bought the HUAWEI Honor for my mother, 70 years of age, and I am almost envious of that device. She loves it and uses it for everything!!
Despite all the software shortcomings of LG, I consider the O4X a very worthy replacement of my O2X, if I were to replace it right now

Opinion on this phone from an LG hater

I've absolutely bashed LG for every phone they made because in all honesty, theyre crap. They are horrible cell phone manufacturers and they should stick to TV's.
After seeing the Optimus4X I was pretty impressed, but it was an LG so I wouldnt buy it anyways.
Then I saw the Optimus G. Hmmmmm theyre getting somewhere, the specs are there and the phone actually looks nice. But its STILL an LG.
Then the Nexus 4....holy cow this thing is amazing. PRICE, specs, build quality (that i can tell from videos)
But its an LG...........
IDC
The fact that it doesnt have LTE or a removable battery or expandable storage was nothing new. They had already said that it was not going to happen. Except for the LTE I mean. Thats not that important. Only ATT is a GSM carrier with LTE right now and they hardly have any. So pretty much no one cares..
BUT ITS AN LG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I could just care less. Maybe they had to use them to keep the price down. Its ok Google. With that firepower, it could be a ZTE or something crappy like that and I would still buy it. Put a case over it and cover that branding LOL.
But all in all, how can you hate a phone this cheap with these specs from Google?
If you do, im sorry but go away. go buy an iphonecrap
I was literally about to pay full price for a galaxynote2. but then this was announced.
I can buy 2 of these if i want for the same money.

LGs typically sucked because of the horrible software builds. This being a nexus pretty much eliminates that big issue.
The s4 pro has great battery. The optimus g gets 8 hours screen on. The issue is the prerelease software the reviewers got. Expect the final version to do similar if not better the optimus g.

I'm in the same boat, always bashed LG ever since I recommended the original LG Optimus (A budget phone when it came out) to two friends and never heard the end of it.. apps were crashing without reason, the whole phone would lag up randomly and it was just chaos, I ended up installing CM7 on them both and it stopped some but not all problems.
I didn't even pay attention to the LG market up until recently, I thought well if it's LG then it will have a childish UI and be built for idiots. Wow was I wrong with this one. I haven't been this impressed with the design of a phone since I got my iPhone 4 on launch day. The iPhone 4, if anyone remembers is the only iPhone that I actually appreciate because it was completely different and built to look good while remain more powerful than the competition at the time.
I am going to buy the Nexus 4 as soon as I can and hope that it's just as good as the hype makes it out to be, I've already found a buyer for my S3 i9300 (not LTE version) for a cool $400 which gives me enough money to get the 16GB for $399 here in Australia and only spend $20 on shipping. But if it's anything like the original Optimus, this phone will be finding a place in a drawer and I'll go back to Samsung, Exynos sources/documentation or not.
TL;DR This phone better be good or else my newly regained faith in LG will diminish as quickly as it came.

I'm still using my LG Optimus. It's been the most reliable phone I've had. I've thrown this thing, quite literally, across rooms before, and it's 2 years old and I've yet to put a single scratch on it. Development has been amazing, I'm currently running a completely stable CM9 on it, and there is MIUI, AOKP, CM10, CM7, CNA, you name it, that are all slightly less stable. It might not be the best phone in the world, but it's good. My phone before this was a non-android LG phone, and it was pretty solid too. Software sucked (it was a feature phone. All software sucked for them lol) but once again, the build quality was solid. So far, I've only had good experience with LG Phones, and I'm guessing this Nexus will be a fine addition.

No but I hear people are fine with that since it has 128gb internal memory, LTE and a reinforced aluminum back and dual removable battery

So Dumb...........

Omg why Optimus 4x is so Dumb Mobile in forums. It has all Awesome specs Equal to One X and S3 Of course S3 Is Awesome :fingers-crossed:
What I wanna know.
Why is Optimus 4x not listed in Top Mobiles It has good quadrant standards Better than One X and equal to S3, But why this Optimus Big man Suck.
All I know No open Boot loader (**** Lg Sucks in this Support) But I have 2x Which became popular even before it is released:highfive: I suppose><.
And reason I like Lg Awesome Quality and Service For Low Price.
And reason I hate Lg Worse Software support (Reason: Lg Did not comment on when 4X will have Jellybean And if this is case We will never get Lime Pie), I swear I completely bought this mobile hoping Cynogenmod Will highlight this Big Boss, But I am sad when the News came, P880 may or may not have Unlocked boot loader(http://cafe.naver.com/androidhacker/487(Translate IT)), Guys I wanna make this Mobile competitive to S3 Common Devs.

Even with locked bootloader and the sh*tty camera, I wouldn't change the O4X for any Shaysung or iFone
Not that I'm LG addicted, its in this case, its a question of design. O4X is one of the few phones in the market with solid, simple and atractive design.
Not forgetting that is a great device with a good performance.

I couldn't agree more. I had been out-of-contract on my last phone (HTC Desire S) for 6 months but there was nothing out there I wanted enough to take a new contract. The 880 changed all that - it has everything on my wish-list - removable battery, SD-Card, and it looks good. I don't want a phone to look like a pebble or a bar of soap. I want it to look like it does. Even if we never get an unlocked bootloader, I can handle this phone for the next 18 months or so on Stock.
Very cool answer. I agree with you man

I think LG designs well and they have good specd phones. Ibelieve many people like their phones, we are just skeptical because of their non-chalance with updates. I played with this phone last week and I love it but I don't think I will buy it just because of the lack of update issue.
P880 the best phone i have used yet, infact all the LG phones ive used. User experience with Samsung phones are just incomparable to LG, putting aside their designs.
Btw LG started making electronics way before Samsung did.

+1 => Totally agree!
LG 4X HD has a look that one will like for long, unlike the other designs which one might like at first glance only.

this is my first LG phone, and so far it is very likable. A few years back I wanted to buy KM900 and I bought iPhone 3G. I went from Nokia N97 to wifes iPhone 3G, for which she said that she does not want to use it. What a blessing that was going from Nokia to iPhone. The only good thing about N97 was its battery time, camera and speaker. I did not regret from going from Nokia to Apple it since it is working until today.Last year when I first wanted to upgrade because of the camera to something with flash and more than 2MP I wanted Optimus 2X, I had it for a review, but did not like its back and slow camera.Somehow I could not get used to Android either. Starting this year I really liked Optimus Black, but they sold all of them, so when I was in Barcelona on February, I saw Optimus 4X. But the iphone 5 was suppose to be launched soon.Nothing happened with Apple, so during waiting I was checking out S3, 4S.After iPhone came out I did not want to get in the line, and also somehow, the price issue and availability
of the iPhone 5 made me think twice. I own my old iPhone 3G, but after years of using it it was time to change. Waiting for iPhone and than paying for it 729€ was not an option, I needed a new phone, so I decided to buy Optimus 4X. Camera could be faster doing the autofocus thing or shutter, but I think that can be solved with an upgrade. If someone knows something, some fix, please send me a pm. Panorama could be made with 8MB not just in VGA mode, could be solved with firmware also. So far I like it for the same reasons most of you guys-girls do.
I choose this over a S3 due to the shape, I like a brick phone, I dont want a "pebble" , had a LG phone before and hated it, but I gave this a go, I love the phone, I do find my S2 screen was a bit more sensitive to touch then this and a few software niggles, but hardware its good and has good scope if we can unlock its full potential!
Anyway,
I will not say Samsung sucks or is best because samsung s3 too have update issues, Orizon s3 do not have unlocked bootloader, And to say frankly i myself hate similar shapes of s3, And i think u guys should watch this video on xda TV.
Samsun hate developers using there devices, They don't know why. But actually samsung became so famous only because developers.
Here is the video link:laugh::highfive:
