Sense is proprietary so the chances of seeing it ported to the Thrill are slim-to-none. If its the Sense look you're after thats actually very easy to obtain.
What..? Nobody with sense wants our stock launcher? Ha ha... I hate sense so much. Ever since its early incarnation in windows mobile... But I know so many ppl love it...
But aria is right... If you just want the look .. They have a bunch of launchers that emulate sense... There is also a lockscreen app called agile lock that looks like the sense one...
Sent from my LG Thrill 4G...
I have attempted the Agile Lock thing and it's a slight bit glitchy still just an FYI.

Ill second that. A LOT of people like sense. I personally cant stand its implementation. What i do like about it though is the theme. Its gorgeous imo. And ive actually themed my phone after the sense look.

these phones both share a qHD resolution, and i'm a fan of the HTC Keyboard.
simply placing in /system/app with proper permissions won't work.
here is the deodexed apk http://www.multiupload.com/4T62KZI77A
and here is the stock one http://www.sendspace.com/file/zzrj7q
*thanks ekerbuddyeker!*
i'm hoping someone familiar with porting can get this to work on the atrix!
Guys now that we have an unlocked bootloader and kernel access what can we do? i'd love to resurrect this!
Currently working with the Sensation ROM DUMP and trying some things to get it working on the Atrix. Will post an update in a bit
You'll need the keyboard's library, too.

Yeah. Perhaps I'll try to extract it. Don't have a ton of time. But, if I can get around to it, I'm sure it could be done.
Edit: Tried and failed with library and APK.
I sincearly hate HTC's keyboard, and hate motorola's even more so I am not really interested in this project however I was going to say that some people might also be interested in the new keyboard off the droid x 2. That is also the same res.

Let's not hijack with HTC SENSE discussion. Start a new poll in General. I'd rather see devs devote their time to other projects that increase performance of the phone rather than a different "theme" persay. Besides if you want sense..you can get launchers to imitate...and icons galore. In the end that's all it is. So let's not hijack lol

Wow, the atrix will be better with htc keyboard and sense's dialer (no need the whole sense). This is of course IMO anyway great direction devs

1) Sense is a GUI overlay to ANDROID OS.
2) It is generally considered the best 'skin' but it is not the end all be all best. It is quite resource intensive, some do not like the look, and it is not as social orientated as other skins.
3) It is not always stable and some other more minor skins are much more stables (ones that mess with framework much less then HTC Sense does)
Now to the real question in the post.
I would like to see it if for no other reason then it is another option. I can not say I liked the HTC Desire keyboard better then the stock Android 2.3 Keyboard. I do not know what HTC changed in the sensation keyboard so I can not comment to that one directly.
Sure man, every improvement is valid
Anyone get anywhere with porting the keyboard?

That's awesome! Maybe we can port some HTC apps to AOSP, like their camera
Good to know that they're removing their heads from their asses.
This is actually huge. The ability to pull from sense will open so many doors.
I can see a beautiful cyanasense coming and that really tickles my pickles
From what I read on the Engadget article about this, it sounds like it's geared towards app development to compliment/integrate with the Sense environment. The developers will get access to the APIs and whatnot, but I don't think they're open sourcing Sense as a whole, but I may have missed something in my skimming.
Edit: Yup, I was right. Here's the article if anybody wants more details. http://www.engadget.com/2011/06/03/htc-announces-opensense-sdk-and-htcdev-offers-paradise-inside-i/

I saw this yesterday and was really excited, then I realized the same thing that you do. Either way its still good that theyre opening it to the community.
That's a bummer
It seems like they just want developers making apps that tie exclusively into the Sense environment. Not a great idea in my opinion. If only Sense didn't drag the phone to a crawl, I'd like it a lot more!
Why on earth would a developer want to limit their creations to those on sense based phones?
Am I missing something here?

I think it's to integrate apps directly into the Sense environment. For people who like Sense a lot (3.0 is real awesome, just saying), its a good move.

And there's most definitely going to be new apis for enhancing/optimizing apps for senseui.
Bummer. I should have known when they said SDK it was only for app development.
It stinks they're keeping Sense locked down, but I still think this is cool. If the corresponding just onto e bandwagon they could just have it somehow check for Sense, and if so adjust itself to enable extra functionality. Sounds cool to me... might even pull me back towards sense.
Tapatalk Pro Sig. Yep, boring.
Is it possible to have a rom with sense 3.5? Sense 3.5 leaves more free ram.
In the sensation with sense 3.0 the ram is 563 and with sense 3.5 the ram is 613
You must be kidding... Even porting Sense 3.0 would be impossible just because it's way too big... Don't even think of that.

And the fact it would be unbearable to use Gingerbread+ Sense 3.0+ in any ARM6 device, not just G1. Sense 3.5 isn't exactly perfect on 2nd Gen snapdragon phones, the experience would be worse on this phone. Making porting it a non-issue for us here, but I do agree with your statement. The drivers in those phones make it difficult to get working parts on ARM6. And don't forget RAM, Sense uses 200+ on any HDPI, in MDPI is may be ~100-150ish, swap may/or may not help that.
Well they already ported it to the htc hero from the Htc Explorer (Htc Pico) which has a armv6 cpu

Yeah.
The G1 dev's are already working on it.
Officially porting it to the G1/Magic

Why do we all have the same idea at about the same time?
Maybe we can do that together?
Not like the 2.2 Sense thing...
Working in a team would be much better.

LOL buy an Android to have Blackberry UI. Craziest thing I heard this month
Blackberry system isn't a loved system/UI, so I don't really think there is much more than the ADW theme. A BB launcher, sure nobody made it. But you can start getting the icons (if you can find them in good resolution :S ) and start with an icon pack.
Also you can mod the status bar to look like BB.
LOL sobralobo! I just realized this is you when I looked up to read again the post! What are you doing?! Hahaha

Ahah antonio, it's just because I love changing the style of my phone. Sometimes I want android UI, then Iphone UI, WP7 UI and know I would like the blackberry one. I like it too. Too bad that there is nothing more than ADW.
Well now I had to stop trying some development and modding because I'll have exams next week and you ?

Hahaha you didn't get me! I wasn't saying "why would you want Android look like *** not Android?", but specifically Blackberry, which isn't precisally famous for its beauty nor its performance (okay, Blackberries have a keyboard and are useful for businessman blabla).
WP7 and its Metro style have been recognized as pretty, and I'm not the only crazy who said "oh, it's nice", so I'm not alone
I'm not of those who are Android 100% defenders and it must look like Android. You all know that. I was just messing with Blackberry (which I hate), making my point and also messing with Sobralobo a little bit
Fair enough, and I'm always looking for themes, but ones that DON'T look like anything else. And as much as you may hate blackberry, I DESPISE everything Microsoft, so from the moment I saw your theme I couldn't understand why anyone would want to make an android look like Microsoft (though I must admit it looks pretty cool) I feel the same about iPhones, if you want your LG or Samsung to look like an iPhone, just spend the extra $200 and buy one!

Look very good.
As a long time lover of Aosp (since froyo on my old cappy) I really miss it, the problem is I've fallen in love with sense 5. That's all I really care about in sense roms though. So I was wandering if it's possible to port the sense launcher to a gpe rom. Is it possible?
Sent from my HTC One
i think that would require loads of work but im not 100 % on that
Yeah its probably possible with tons of work, but I doubt anyone would take a lot of interest in porting it since honestly it's nothing special of a launcher and it's rather stale in features. Anyways, why do you want the sense 5 launcher over something like nova launcher or action launcher pro?
