Powerboost (credit to BMc) Installation
User Astro/Root Explorer to sdcard-ext
Copy the folder 'unthrottle' to the root of the sdcard
Open 'unthrottle' folder and create a new folder called 'backup'
Open 'jarfiles' folder > 'bionic' > '(R3)Blurr3d' and rename this folder to 'Unl3ashed'
Open the newly renamed 'Unl3ash3d' folder and rename 'v1.5' to 'v1.2x'
Then run script in Script Manager
Navigate to the 'unthrottle' folder and select menu.sh
Run as Root and hit RUN
Follow the prompts on the screen.
Select reboot from main menu

Click to collapse
wierd, tried that and no dice..keep say can't find file

FYI, there's an error in your steps under Powerboost. The folder should be renamed to "UNL3ASH3D" (no quotes), not "Unl3ashed".

Nope, has to be "UNL3ASH3D" (note the second 3).

Yes sir. I just had one text come through where it vibrated, so it's sporadic.
It might not even be this ROM.

In the meantime, i am using contact vibrate... it is kinda neat. You can create custom patterns and change per contact and scenario.
That at least until we take a look at v1.6 and hope it resolves your issue.

Fyi to all bionic users... Verizon is offering 50% off extended batteries today. If you don't have one, 25 bucks is a good price to pay! Just bought an extra one. >=)

Just as a basic test... have you tried the stock app or another messaging app? It might help us determine either what is causing it, or if there is a conflict. Please post your results.

Im using handcent and recived a picture in a message just fine v1.5 you should check your settings perhaps you missed one

I installed a different texting app and still no pics.

Well after many wipes/formats and every thing else I finally have everything working.
I can verify that multiple cache wipes, dalvik wipes and system formats do the job.
I'm not sure exactly how many I done but it was a lot.
I just sit there and wiped, formatted, wipe, format, wipe, format so on and so on and it finally took, I even installed 3 times over and over each other.
The ROM works great.
All the phones might have the same parts and look the same, but for some reason they don't act the same.

lol, handcent is very android donut-esque... lmao

Any way to get battery and data manager back?
Sent from my BIONIC

I did a wipe, format and all that numerous times too hoping that may be the cause for the pix message problem, but no. Still an issue.

I'm back to 10% battery increments after moving the unthrottle folder.
I know this has been reported, but I'm just throwing my hat into the mix.

Droid-X Clockwork Recovery image. Deodexed Rooted, Froyo'd

From AllDroid.org
Thanks to Mike919 we now have a clockwork recovery backup that you can recover to your phone.
What does this give me? well it gives you a way to restore your phone to its default state but it has already been rooted and deodexed.
If you dont know what root or deodexed are then please search around the forums. I'm sorry but i simply dont have the time to answer a thousand questions.
How do i use this?
Well it's very simple.
Unzip the file
On your sdcard make a folder in sdcard\clockworkmod\backup with todays date on it like \sdcard\clockworkmod\backup\2010-08-23.23.30.41
Extract the contents of This File into that folder. There should be 5 files inside when you are done.
Install Koush's Clockwork recovery (if you haven't already)
Boot into Koush's recovery
Choose restore, then navigate to the folder you created earlier
Choose restore. Then follow the instructions on the screen.
When you reboot you will have a totally clean system, with Froyo 2.2, already rooted. and fully deodexed.
I can this tell you that this does work. I have done it myself. I also know of one other person that has done it with no problems.
Please grab the file while you can, who knows how long this will stay up.
oh, also it has a black bar with transparency. Other versions will follow i'm sure you can always replace your framework-res.apk and services.jar if you don't like it.
again search alldroid if you need help with this.

Awesome thank you Mike
Stupid question but you know its gonna be asked.... you need to be on 2.2 before applying the 2.2 nandroid correct?
Yeah.
Sent from my DROIDX using Tapatalk
If we wipe, flash this, then nandroid our original 2.2 data partiton but keep the new deodexed system partition we will be all set correct?

Got a error, Can't mount dev/block/etc... Any help? Also in advanced it would not allow me to mount sd card...
I have same problem, the recovery dosent mount the sd card

Just to be clear what method are you guys using?
Im using dolphin hd and don't see a dl link... am I missing something?

are we suppose to wipe or just restore this?
Nice, thanks for the heads up. Worked flawlessly! Teenfaces' black status bar looks gorgeous! =)
@cbaty08: there is a link at the very end of first post. Here:

@mach330: just restore using provided files. I didn't wipe, was on rooted leaked froyo.
thanks...so it retains all our stuff? aight...gonna try this out in a bit. been having problems with nandroid backup on froyo. didn't wanna go to sbf flash to do this again. i'm hoping this will fix this problem.
NO! It WILL install a fresh froyo build. This will probably come late to you though...
ok thanks...hmm..now i'm debating. you think this will fix my nandroid backup problem?
Do an advanced restore and only redo the system partition not the data and you'll keep your data and get the improved system files
Sent from my DROIDX using XDA App
crap...i guess i answered my own question. tried to restore only the system and i get:
E:can't mount /dev/block/mmcblk0 (or /dev/block/mmcblkp1)
(Device or resource is busy)
Can't mount /sdcard
Does this mean i gotta do an sbf flash?

Can anyone confirm if this will work or not? So far we've gotten two conflicting answers.
So since I was born yesterday.....
What's the difference between this and the root/2.2 leak I did the other day?. Is this blur free in all ways? Cause that's the only reason I would wipe and go through all those proper steps is to be 100% blur free.

Cap wont download anything

I formatted my internal and external sdcards today by mistake, now my download folders are gone, I was tolded this is normal since formatted deletes all data on card which is why my download folder is gone. I've tired downloading rom and modded recovery all day but I cant find them in root exploror anywheres, than I Google a random picuture and tried to save the picture but the download was uncuccessful. Can I fix this?

It sounds like this should be fixable, but could you please provide more information on your current setup (Android version, if it's a custom ROM, etc).
As far as getting ROMs and CWM to your phone, you may want to try downloading the roms/modded recovery on a PC (if one is available), then move them over to your phone. If everything was formatted and you're having trouble using root explorer, it might just be easier to do it that way.
Before today my phone was fine, it displayed downloads that I've done etc. I was trying to install a downloaded rom thru cwm but it didn't display "install from sdcard" with in cwm. I than clicked format sdcard for some dumb reason and It put me in my current state.

I see that you're on your phone now, which answers the question of whether or not you can boot, so that's good. If you've formatted your Internal SD card (which it sounds like you did - did it get rid of all your files on the phone?), you could probably just do a Titanium backup of what you still have and reinstall your ROM (assuming you're on a custom rom). That would likely correct the issue.

Assuming that it wasn't deleted in the format, I'd recommend reflashing whatever rom you're on and restoring your apps from Tibu.
the tibu backup is no more it would have been deleted when he formatted. look in your browsers settings for the default download directory. or make a folder on your sdcard called downloads and set it to there as default....

Yep, my back up is gone. I went to the download directory and all downloads in there say download unsuccessful, I than went to sdcard in root exploror and created a folder named download. I tried saving a few Google pics and they still come up download unsuccessful, I even tried downloading a file from xda and its not in my new download folder. I didn't set it as default since I don't know how to set it, I didn't see any options. Getting very frustrated.

That appeared to work, I saved a random picture and it was saved in my new download folder. But when I try and download the modded e3 signature file (which is what I've been trying to do) I see a quick download meter start and finish, after its done I can select close or open, if I click open I'm brought to rom manager with an install prompt were I can select or de-select a few things, than I'm put into recovery but it dkesnt show any place to install from sdcard. When I had to do this on my infuse once I downloaded the modded recovery it was listed in my downloads, id extract, copy and paste over original recovery but I don't see it anywhere in my captivates files.

Hmm It should be in the download directory...
You could always dl the recovery file to your pc and copy it over to the phone.

Before I say more - do you currently have the android default recovery or some version of CWM installed on your phone?
You're pasting in the modded 3e recovery I assume, that's in a place usually mounted read only. Using root explorer, there is a little button on the top right that says mount r/w press that THEN paste in.

[How-To] Make nandroid backups really fast

Nandroid backups on the D3 aren't the fastest right now, but with a simple and quick tweak, we can make them much, much faster.
During the backup/restore, clockword recovery shows each individual file being copied. By turning this off, it drastically improves backup/restore times. It'll still say backup up /system, or /data, it just won't show the individual file. In order to remove the nandroid progress stats, you need to create two files using adb or terminal emulator.
ADB or Terminal Emulator1) type- (may need to do "adb shell" first)
Code:
echo "" > /sdcard/clockworkmod/.hidenandroidprogress
Press enter
2) type
Code:
echo "" > /sdcard-ext/clockworkmod/.hidenandroidprogress
Press enter
3) Done!
Hint- to check to make sure it created the files, navigate to /sdcard/clockworkmod and see if there's a .hidenandroidprogress file. Also check in /sdcard-ext/clockworkmod for the same file.
Can't we just create the files manually instead of going through the trouble of using adb?
Yup. I used a terminal emulator on my phone since I didn't feel like taking the time to do it.
Sent from my DROID3 using XDA App
Thanks for this. I was wondering why backup/restore was so much slower on the D3 than on my OG Droid - synchronous IO strikes again.
FYI,
I removed the detailed progress bar from the upcoming Safestrap 1.0. The wait was just too long to even have that option enabled.
Excellent post, thanks a lot for sharing this tip.
Edit: I created both files and then rebooted into Recovery and started a backup. I still see each file being named as well as the progress bar. Did not seem to work for me...

Definitely weird, I will delete the files and try to create them again to see if that helps. FYI, I used Android Terminal Emulator to create the files using the commands you posted.

Wow, had a temporary lapse of reason earlier... Your typo of the comma in your last comment made me realize my own typo in typing /.hideandroidprogress instead of ./hidenandroidprogress . Backups are much, much faster now.
Huge difference!
I'm not sure if this is where I should post this but... When making a backup with CWM bootstrap(Not Safestrap) does it backup the /preinstall stuff too? I ask because I tried using the safestrap to flash a compatible rom and didnt backup and the rom wasnt functioning properly. I managed to recover back to my ogblur i was running prior but i wanted to know if my /preinstall was reverted and if not do I have anything to worry about with it not being how it was originally?

[guide] rooting stock 902 with safestrap recovery

this needs to be stickied or at least intergrated into tucks instructions i am going to copy and paste instruction that insanemod gave me that worked like a charm so i take no credit just figured it might be useful to someone...
First off.. run the root script here http://vulnfactory.org/blog/2012/02/11/rooting-the-droid-4-a-failed-bounty-experiment/
Make sure you have some significant memory left in INTERNAL SDCARD(2 or 3 gigs is fine)
Once rooted install Bionic Safestrap
Link: http://db.tt/D624eHLF
Open Safestrap and click install recovery
Grab the ICS Rom
Link: http://db.tt/k8PmOIyn
Put the Rom on your external sd card
Next grab google apps here http://rootzwiki.com/topic/17726-romalpha-ics4bionic-59902-version-alpha-02-10-2012/
Reboot Phone
When it boots up you'll get a different looking screen tap the menu button( you got 10 seconds or it'll boot up regularly) Menu button(far left)
Scroll down to "safe boot menu" using the volume down button and select with power botton
Select Toggle Safe System
Enable Safe System
Might take awhile don't freak out
Go Back
Wipe Data/Factory Reset
Will take awhile don't freak out
Wipe Cache
Wipe Cache Partition
Advanced/Wipe Dalvik Cache
Go Back to Main SafeStrap Menu
Install zip from sd card
Choose zip from sdcard/External SD Card
And the Rom will be near the bottom labeled
"902-ICS-4.0.3_r1-cm_targa-2012-02-09-04_08"
*note* something i experienced when flashing this rom was it was giving me corrupt file or incomplete or something so what i did was delete it and redownload and trasfer the file directly from download location don't transfer to desktop etc... i believe it was a md5 mismatch and after i tried again it worked great...
don't forget to thank and donate to anyone deserving of it again i take no credit for the exploit or the guide just passing it on.. if i missed something please let me know..

another question - it's rooted and i flashed a rom but during the entire process and now as well every time i boot up the device goes into the AP Fastboot screen and only after a battery pull with me returning to boot mode selection menu to select the normal start-up - can i return to a normal start-up - do you or anyone else know of a fix?
Did you enable safe mode ?

[RecoveryFileManager]Manage Your Files from Recovery with AROMA File Manager

Aroma File Manager
"Have you ever rebooted your device into recovery, only to find that you forgot to do some basic file management before embarking on your flashing journey? Perhaps instead you shut down your device, but would like to delete or copy some files without having to fully boot your device into the Android OS. Whatever the case, there are dozens of use-cases for being able to manage your files from recovery, and now it is possible.
XDA Recognized Developer amarullz has created AROMA File Manager, which lets users on any standard recovery manage their files in full GUI glory. You may assume that installing a recovery-based file manager would be quite complicated. However, it is quite simple. To run AROMA File Manager, all you have to do is “install” the update.zip, as you would with any other update.zip. Rather than physically installing onto your device, AROMA will instead be launched and allow you to cater to your file management needs. According to the developer:
How To Use?
Copy the zip into your sdcard, then reboot your device into recovery mode. Choose install from sdcard, then select the AROMA Filemanager ZIP. The file manager will starting, and you are ready to managing your filesystem (copy, cut, delete, make new folder, etc) while you are in recovery.
Those looking to get started should head over to the original thread. If you’re lucky enough to be rocking the HTC One X, head over to the dedicated One X Thread instead."

Good find bud, thanks for the upload =)
I couldnt get it to work. Had no touch response only volume keys.
Just bumpin this so people who haven't seen it can try it, since more and more roms are using aroma. Great little tool to have.

I would find this EXTREMELY useful!! I dunno how many times I've booted into recovery and than rebooted back into the OS because I forgot to do... something!
*EDIT*
I answered my own question by looking into things a little deeper. I must have misread the post because for whatever reason (like an idiot) I thought it was originally ONLY for the HTC One X and you had got it working on the Atrix! Now that I believe it should work, imma test it out and post it in the Photon 4G forums!
Thanks because if it wasn't for this particular thread, I wouldn't have discovered such an awesome and useful tool!

It definitely makes things THAT much easier!
I even gave it a test run on my new G-Tab 2 but the touch interface doesn't work. I had to use the alternate volume up/down, power to select option ha. But it still worked
Typed on my Samsung Galaxy Tab-2 7.0 running CM9-ICS_4.0.4 using T-talk 2.0

So your OnePlus One is the Atrix 4G all of a sudden? You see that there are issues about this in the thread, you see that this is from 2012. There are better things out there for your device than this. Furthermore, this thread and project is abandoned, so you set yourself up for failure to begin with. Us Atrix 4G members appreciate your spam post. Now, since you decided to not do your homework, here's the thread that you should have been looking at, which was referred to in post #1, which is still an active project http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1646108
Will this work like a Root Explorer ? can we change system files ?
Um, duh.
It runs within the recovery. That obviously means you can do just about anything.
