I was going to ask this too, found this thread.. According to a few posts on google, it should work like the following.. Can someone try this and see? My DS7 is on Froyo, I keep saying I want to udpate it sometime, but for now it's working pretty good. I can get up to step 8 on Froyo but it won't do anything beyond pairing.. I've read that Honeycomb this should work..
on Tablet, go to settings>wireless & networks>tethering and portable hotspot and make sure that "Bluetooth Tethering" is UNCHECKED, this is NOT what we want
on Tablet, go to settings>wireless & networks> enable airplane mode (optional; for 3g tablets)
on Tablet, go to settings>wireless & networks> enable bluetooth
on your android phone, go to settings>wireless & networks (or equivalent)> enable bluetooth
Make sure that both devices are discoverable, so that they can see one another, should be in settings>wireless & networks>bluetooth settings
on Tablet, go to settings>wireless & networks>bluetooth settings>select your phone in order to pair it with your Tablet
a box should pop up on both devices, select Pair on both devices
on Tablet, once the pairing is complete (still inside bluetooth settings), select the phone, it should say paired but not connected underneath it
The two devices should connect, once connected there should be a wrench next to the connected device, clicking on this will show an option to tether, click this option if it is not automatically enabled
TA-DA, if it worked then in the bottom right hand corner of your Tablet should have two bluetooth icons, one should indicated that your bluetooth is turned on and the other should say bluetooth tethered, you are now using your phones internet data plan on your Tablet, aka not counting towards your Tablet's data plan

Is there a way to let my phone work as an access point?
I want to go online with my (Nintendo) DS on the road. The DS only connects to an access point and cannot make an Adhoc connection.
This is what i had in mind:
DS --(wifi)--> TyTn 2 --(HSDPA)--> Internet.
Try searching WMWifiRouter. I haven't tried it yet with my Tytn II, but it worked fine with my older Universal.
Exactly what i am looking for! I gonna give it a try. Thanks
I searched it but didnt find it.
here it is
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=357152
Hmm it works with the TyTn 2, but the Nintendo DS is not supported.
Reported to not work:
Nintendo DS
Nintendo Wii
PlayStation 3
Unable to connect to a device providing internet using ad-hoc mode.
PlayStation Portable
Unable to connect to a device providing internet using ad-hoc mode.
Thats a very confusing last post. IMO.
Once you turn your phone into a wifi access point then I would think any wifi device could work with it. It's the 802.11? standard .. I read through the thread and didn't see anything saying specifically that the DS doesn't work. Does it have Wifi?
Sadly it won't work. Tried to get my PSP connected too with no luck.
Can you connect to an Adhoc device, that might be the problem.
Try changing some settings around
On WMWifiRouter go to Options >> cellular connections > & make sure Media Net is checked. Also make sure the following settings are checked on the Configuration:
Force ad-hoc only
Wifi power boost (optional) - May heat up your phone though
Unattended Mode
Use DHCP allocator
DMZ
Under Network setup check to see if security is enabled (try to disable it or enable whatever you feel is best & i reccommend you enable it). These settings worked for me.

I thought the same thing. Only it doesn't work this simple i think.. The DS finds my phone as router and see the signal strength. I can connect to it and fill in the WEP key. But when i try to connect to the internet the connection is gone and is shown as no signal.
You can read on the supported devices page that the DS, PSP Wii, etc are unfortunatly not supported.

Hey guys so ive tried ever wireless tether app under the sun and none ever seem to work for me.
Im running Cyan's 4.01, PdaNet the wired version works flawlessly for me when i tether it to my computer, however done of the wireless ones EVER work for me, ive tried both aNetshare and the "Wireless Tether for Root" App that is floating around on the forums here, neither have ever worked for me
i have absolutely no problems connecting my computer to my G1 via wifi when using these programs, however the connection is always Peer to Peer and Local only, never internet and it never works
any ideas?
What OS are you trying to tether with?
Ensure your wifi network settings have DHCP set....
ALSO if you're wifi uses a NON-Microsoft Wifi settings software (e.g. Intel's or Broadcom) disable it and use the microsoft stack.
Are you trying to connect via Ad-hoc? Also are you using the WEP encryption? Does it give you any errors or just doesn't seem to connect?
The computer im connecting with is running Vista.
Im not using any form of WEP encryption is 100% open, it has no problems connecting peer to peer but the internet is inaccesible via tethering, it connects fine with no errors but it states local only with no internet access
Also as another side note, i use a program called SwiFTP which runs FTP via wifi so i can transfer file to and from my computer and G1 wirelessly , however that system never works, whenever i go to enable it, it says "Error Opening port, check your network connection" and the program does not work, ive tried changing different ports, i used the default port 2121 and it cannot open it, i also tried other random ones like 23 etc and it can never open a port or seem to work
Are you trying to connect via Ad-Hoc?
No, im using "Wireless Tether for Root Users" app downloaded off this forum
I think that is the problem. When you try to connect to the G1 on your computer, you have to set up the computer to connect via Ad-Hoc, not on the G1.
Not sure of the entire setup process, but go to the control panel and click on set up network connections (or something along that line) somewhere in the options of connection types there should be Ad-Hoc. You will have to enter the network name and confiure the WEP encryption, but it is pretty easy.
You should be able to figure it out from there. Let me know if you have any more problems.
access control option
have you checked the access control settings? if this is enabled, you have to manually allow the machines internet connection.
Hey, I had to apk's fo rthis the signed_andtether_1_52-pre2.apk did not work. The file labeled Signed_andtetehr_1_52.apk works everytime.
Firewall?
Sure your Vista Firewall is on? If so FORCE it off and try again...
Just bouhgt a NC but it doesnt recognize the wifi sharing of my touch pro 2.
Do I need some third party app to connect?
You shouldn't. This has come up before. My Nook sees whatever wireless networks are available. Others evidently have had problems, specifically with a tethered connection from an Android phone. My suggestions are #1 - use another device (laptop, for instance) to make sure your shared wifi from your Touch Pro 2 is generally "visible" (if the network isn't visible obviously you have a different problem), #2 - if you know the exact SSID and security of the Touch Pro 2 shared wifi try manually creating a new network connection on the Nook with those settings.
I have a Tilt2 which is AT&T's . I use WMWiFiRouter on the tilt2 and it creates an adhoc wireless connection. the Nook Color doesn't see adhoc wifi unless you make a few changes.
If you google this: "xda nookcolor adhoc enable" you will get directions for the NookColor and adhoc connections.
It works very well - good luck!
whether i am using the wireless hotspot that is on the phone or trying to tether it will not connect.
it goes as far as Obtaining IP Address from my phone via the tether. but it never goes further.
both devices are rooted...
anyone have any suggestions on how to get my nook color to connect to my phone...
Well I havent tried hotspot from my EVO yet, but I just tried tether from my phone to my nook and it worked. I am using tether version 3.1-pre108. I cant remember where I got this version from, but I think sprint is blocking tether apks from the market now, so I found it in a thread in the EVO section.
Here are my settings within wifi:
device profile auto
setup method auto
wifi encryption unchecked
change ssid AndroidTether
hide ssid unchecked
change channel 01
dont disable bluetooth unchecked
wifi driver reload checked
Nothing else is checked throughout settings except for disable wake-lock under miscellaneous, that is checked. I can also connect to my latop as well. I hope this helps.
i got it to work, but it looks like it only works when i have 4g. can i not connect to my phone via 3g?
Mine was connected 3g......I dont have 4g in my area.
cool, thanks. i think i figured it out.
appreciate it.
Hi folks,
Trying to connect my (wifi version only) tablet to my phone (OnePlus 3T) but get the "Unable to use bluetooth tethering when connected to a wifi network" message each time
I don't understand how to switch off bluetooth tethering - can't seem to find it in the settings. There is obviously a setting for tethering and hotspots in my phone since it has a data connection to share but the tablet is wifi only.
Hope someone can point me i the right direction
Cheers
Seamus
