I am having some issues with setting my proxy settings on my Tilt. The HTTP proxy is wiped out once they are set.
Here is what I am doing to create the problem
I go to Start ->Settings ->Connection Tab ->Connections ->Advance Tab ->Select Networks and change both settings in this menu to use "My Work Network" for both settings, and then set the proxy settings for "My Work Network" to use my corporate proxy, everything works fine until I enable a WLAN connection. After I enable the connection the proxy information disappears.
I guess I don't understand why the proxy settings disappear once a live WLAN connections is set.
Does anybody know how I can fix this.
I have tried running the no proxy cab which didn't help.
Thanks for any help
I am so frustrated I want to take this thing back to the store if I can't use it on my corporate network.
it probably does this since the proxy gets sent to you once you connect to a network, and the WiFi connection you are connecting to tells the Kaiser it needs no proxy... your corporate network should sent the proxy automatically, mine does (the wired one, not WiFi)
I called HTC support and they said this was a Mobile 6 bug. They said that they are going to work with MS to create a fix for this issue.
My thoughts are on this, is this going to affect a massive amount of user who have to connect through proxy on their corporate network.
This sucks cause I'm to cheap to pay for the data plan.
Holding my breath for a QFE from Microsoft. I sure not to soon though.
That isn't a WM6 bug. I have an ASUS device, which makes no problems with the proxy settings. It is probably a WM bug combined with the HTC specials.

I connect to 3G network and PIE, Media Net works well. I disconnect 3G and connect to WiFi, open PIE which is set to Media Net home page and popup reads "Cannot connect with current connection settings. To change your connection settings, tap Settings." It will not go to Media Net home page but most other websites (ie. google, weather channel etc...) work fine. Cingular video reads "having technical difficulties, try again later". Mobile CNN reads "Cnn wireless content is restricted. You may be attempting to access us from an unauthorized mobile service provider, or it could be that your service provider is authorized but has failed to register a new gateway IP with us."
That's with PIE. With 3rd party applications like XM Radio, Windows Live Search, they work well with WiFi but not with 3G. XM pops up "A network error has occurred. Please verify your cellular or WiFi connection is active and restart the app." Live Search will open but wont download maps or get directions.
I've done searches here and in different forums with no success. This happened before and after phone calls to AT&T, HTC then online chat with AT&T tech support I got it fixed with a hard restart. Then after downloading HTC Home Plugin, KaiserTweaks and remapping the PTT button, it started having the same connection problems again.
Now aside from doing another hard restart and having to dowload/install those CABs again, does anyone know how to fix this?
I know the AT&T/Cingular browser settings by heart, but this alone wont fix the problem.

There has to be some missing settings perhaps on Start-Settings-Connections-Connections-Advanced-Select Network : "Programs that automatically connect to a private network should connect using:".
Thanks, I appreciate any help.
I know this is an old thread but I was just having the same problem with all my 3rd party apps.
Simple solution: Edit settings for AT&T ISP so that they match the media net settings. Basically change ISP to wap in adress and user name. leave the password as it is.
Im not sure why my 3rd party apps try to connect to ISP but since i cant figure that out this does the trick.
Hopefully this helps somebody. Im using Alex V5.20 CUBE
I bought a HTC tilt but I cant figure out the wifi settings. Its from the states, and its branded AT&T. THe phone itself is unlocked and ive been using it on the fido network for the past week. Everything works fine but i cant figure out how to get the wifi to work. It wont connect to the internet or my wireless network.
bumpppppppppppp
step1: turn wifi on via comm manager
step2: hit settings, wireless lan
step3: choose ur network from the list
step4: follow the settings and fill out the WEP key given by your network
step5: connect!
Same problem for me.
I have done eaxctly as described above but despite showing as connected the phone will not access the internet through wifi.
Same sort of thing here, using both standard t-mobile rom and newest HTC rom, my wireless connects, i get an ip from my router, but i am unaible to browse the web
in settings/wi-fi/network adapters/connects to:the internet
settings/connections/advanced/select networks/both options:my isp
also tried setting both options to "work"
any clues anyone?
click start, settings, connections, wlan, and change the power mode from battery to performance
hi is the a way to totally disable the vodafone mobile internet on my diamond permenantly,i just want to use wifi only but it keeps connecting with the vodfone network and its costing me .
Look for a program called nodata. Theres several references to it on the forums. Basically you can disable connections completely.
you can also
go to
settings->connections->connections->advanced-Select network
and choose my home network or whatever your non voda connection is called
finally tha nodata worked thanks alot for all help on this matter
OK, so it's a Vodafone upgrade, plenty of data avail, on contract, in UK, just cannot get these to work!!
Huawei to Windows 7 Laptop
Huawei to HTC ONE M9
Huawei to Samsung Galaxy S2
All say connected, but Internet is not getting to the tethered devices, P10 also says no data used whilst USB tethered or Hot Spotted!!
I follow the screen instructions to the letter, but as I say, they connect, but Internet just isn't there....
Pulling my hair out!! Help!!
Cheers
Karl
I don't know if you ever solved your problem, but I hit the exact same brick wall trying to get wifi tethering to work, hope this may help someone else.
My phone is Huawei P10 lite, and network also Vodafone.
I was able to narrow it down to an IP conflict issue: If I turn on wifi tethering I will lose internet on the phone and connected phones will also not have internet available, obviously.
I tried changing the APN settings (Mobile Network and select your APN in use, then EDIT) and use for normal connections and roaming both IPv4 and IPv6 (the default is only IPv4), and that allowed me to be able to use internet on my phone with tethering on; however connected phones still do not receive a valid IP and aren't able to connect to my internet.
I finally managed to share my internet, but only using bluetooth tethering, not wifi (using the settings I mentioned above).
BTW: Using the exact same SIM card, on another phone, I have no issues whatsoever setting up a wifi hotspot to others. This happens only with this combination (Huawei + Vodafone)
Reset your apn settings
Same issue here with two new p10s and Vodafone. So it seems a bug in the tethering subsystem since one of them work only if you tether via Bluetooth and the other one just fails to bridge the network via its hotspot. Wondering if anyone here has managed to report the issue to Huawei/Vodafone and what was the outcome and/or reference to do a follow up. Best regards
Ok, I've got it working on one of the phone (missus not around but it should fix in the same way).
All I needed to do was to reset the APN to it defaults as described in the Vodafone forum.
Settings -> Mobile Network -> Access Point Name -> Three dots (upper right hand side on the screen) you will find the "reset to defaults" and that's how I fixed it!
You legend - that totally saved me doing a factory reset for which I shall be eternally grateful. Well.. At least til next week.
