Issue with Android market and certificate on hc - Dell Streak 7

This morning, I can't get into Android market and when I open Web explorer app, I've got some sort of error message regarding "certificate". Does any get this too?

If you can't get into Android Market, simply do a system restore. Also, certificates have nothing do with the Droid, it has to do with the certificate of the webpage not being updated and current. Ignore that if you're accessing reliable websites, it will eventually be updated.

System retore? Reinstall hc? The website that i was trying to access is android market via the web since i couldnt get into it via app. Thanks

How to access Restore

System restore is an option available on your device. Simply shut it down then while press the "+" on the volume and the power button, you should get a boot menu. One of them is the Restore option, use the "+" or "-" to move the cursor and once you're highlighting the option to restore, press the power button. It will re-install HC and reboot. Your Android Market should work after that and your browser should correct itself. Either way whether on a computer or an android device, if a website doesn't update its certificates, you will get that message.

Go to settings, applications, manage apps, click on market and clear data

Thank you all. I reset/shutdown by pressing the pin hole next to sd card. It worked again.

Paid Apps and ROM update..... everything lost???

Hi everyone,
just wondering as I did my first order (BlueEx) for my Dream machine.
What happens if I format my device (install another cooked rom)? do I lost my application? do I download it again for free as I have the same gmail account? is there any way of grabing my apk install file?
thanks for your help, sure it's just 1.4€ for the moment, but if I went for documents2go or any other more expensive app (wisepilot....), I would not format my device anymore!
paid apps can be downloaded from the market again at no cost, but yes you will have to reinstall everything.
Hi all, I was wondering if anyone knew how to get your paid apps. moved from original gmail account to another gmail account. (Going to delete original account) Thanks.
You can pull the app off of your device using adb pull. I believe some backup apps can also backup apk files onto sdcard. One thing to note is that if you reinstall your own backup from a file rather than the market, you will not be able to get updates from the market. Only apps installed using the market app will show up on the Downloaded list (and thus be updatable without a repurchase).
Also, if the app in question is a protected app (not all paid apps are) then you will need root to pull it out of app-protected.
I wonder if there isn't some way to transfer your Market app licenses from one gmail account to another. You might have to contact Android Market support about it.

I figured it out, first you wipe in Recovery then Reboot, log into original Gmail account (The one with your purchased Apps.) go into Market and redownload your purchased Apps., now get out of Market and go to Settings/Applications/Manage applications, scroll down till you get to Google Apps, click on that and press Clear data now Reboot and go back to Market and it'll ask you to log in again, log in with new Gmail account and all your stuff will sync, Contacts ect... and after a few minutes your purchased Apps. will show up in My downloads.

What can I do now? Any ideas?

HELP! Launcher Pro Error Rendered my phone USELESS

I've got launcher pro installed and all I did was select a setting under preferences from the home screen in the Launcherpro settings to restore back to its defaults. As soon as I did it asked me to restart. I selected to restart later and then it just started giving me this error:
The application Launcher Pro (process.android.process.acore) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again. Dumpstate_app_201007291243_android_process_acore. Log has been saved. Use *900# to copy out log.
This error keeps coming one after the next. I can't do anything on my phone.
I searched everywhere online and the solution is "HARD RESET YOUR PHONE".
I called ATT cust support and they DON"T KNOW how to do it w/out going through the UI.
Everywhere online says hold the down button and power on while holding down. I tried that and it does NOTHING.
Somebody please help?
I don't understand why I can't even get to the factory reset menu at least?
I get all my notifications and everything. I can access anything that pops into my notification tray. It get's interuppted by the launcherpro error message but I can kind of plow through it but I can get to the messages application if there's a message in my notification tray or an email. Can I somehow get to the reset menu from that tray?
I can't access any settings normally because settings run off the home screen and my home screen is unavailable due to the launcher pro widget. I just got this phone...this SUCKS.
I can also access the phone through mass storage. I new to droid so I can't brainstorm any ideas.
Try this.
1. remove your battery wait a few seconds and replace it
2. hold down the up and down volume buttons and the power button until the att screen loads on the screen
3. make sure that reboot system now is highlighted (use the power buttons to move) and press the power button
That should reboot your system. If that doesn't work try repeating step 3 but select delete all user data instead.
If launcherpro is crashing, why not go to appbrain on a computer and give the command uninstall it there. In between the crashes, I am sure the phone will get the command and do the deed. Once done, reboot the phone and either TouchWiz should launch, or the screen that tellls you to select default launcher will come up, and allow you to select TouchWiz. Worth a shot I think.
So hold down and up simultaneously? along with the power button?
Do I hold these down until the reboot menu appears? or do I have to hold all three until a specific point during the phone boot then let go?
I've never heard of appbrain but I will check it out and try it if the reset doesn't work still. Thank You!
I tried holding up and down and power and it sent me to the menu Thank You!
the options are
reboot system now
reinstall packages
delete all user data
delete cach data
is this the stock menu? I was wondering if reinstall packages would correct the issue without erasing my data?

I guess it wouldn't hurt anything to try. I would still try reboot system now first. If that doesn't work you may want to look into the appbrain solution posted above.

I think you may also need to add fast web installer to the toolchain. Get that on the phone first somehow if you need to (ADB install?).

Have you tried the reboot system choice yet? That will not delete any of your data, but it may restart Launcher Pro so that it actually works.
Yes it didn't work. I tried to reinstall all packages but it's looking for some type of ".zip" file at the root directory.
I think it's because I rooted it to sideload, and so this is not the stock reboot menu.
I'm going to have to research to find out what I need to do from here. I'm a brand noob but I think I'm on the right path.

No, that is the correct reboot menu. The reinstall packages searches for update.zip in the root of the sd card, that is how you rooted the device. At this point I would suggest trying the Appbrain method and seeing if you can get that to work. I have never used it so I won't be much help there. If you can't figure that out deleting user data should fix your phone, but you will lose your data.
When you do get everything working I suggest you download rom manager from the market and making a backup of your ROM once you get everything working properly. That will enable you to use the reinstall packages choice to basically go back to a previous working version of your ROM.
Maybe adb (in Android SDK) can be used to remove Launcher Pro?
adb uninstall com.fede.launcher
The only problem is, I think USB debugging mode must be on for this to work...

If it's just pictures you are trying get, then go into mass storage mode, that you indicated you can do. Then take whatever you need off the phone and copy it to your computer. After that put the update.zip file found here onto the root of the internal sdcard. Disconnect the phone and reboot into recovery and apply the update.zip by reinstall packages. Once you get back up, do a factory reset and you will be back to a stock phone with root enabled. Either this, or get your pictures off the phone and then reflash with Odin3 One Click Downloader.
This is what happened. I guess pics/videos are saved to the SD card by default. I found them all there.
So I installed the update.zip file on my device.
I reinstalled packages. Everything went back to normal. A lot of my data was saved too!
I went to the market to download the Rom Manager and had issues. No matter how many apps I tried to download from the Market it stalled at "Starting Download". The ones I paid for said "installed" still.
I did a factory reset through the GUI. It worked. I can download now.
I entered the market with my known google username/password. I tried to reinstall ALL my paid apps. They no longer are marked "installed" but appear as if I did not pay.
Now I'm STUCK on how to get my paid apps back! Namely Rom manager PREMIUM for starters. There's no code or serial to enter. Is there a way to get this back w/out paying for it again?
From the source:
http://market.android.com/support/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=113410
It appears that you are following the steps. Is it possible you forgot your gmail sign in information and created a new account. A second factory reset may be needed.
This is the same thing that happened to me. Hard reset fixed it.
Sent from my Samsung Galaxy S
I'm all set, I used the WRONG account.
For future reference, you could have just removed launcherpro from adb.

3389 and Market

Ever since the update, I have been having a problem with Market. I have tried all of the "fixes" but to no avail. I DO have access to Market, but only the limited one. Here is my problem: when going through the steps, I get market started, browse around a bit, then go to my "home" screen,[ I use Launcher Pro]. I go to settings, but I cannot find Market under the Running section. I can't even find it under the System services, section. I see it under the Downloads section. When I do the steps as directed, nothing happens. I do not get the "error" message that I am supposed to get. And when I start up again, I still have limited access to Market. It is frustrating that most, if not all, of the app sites depend on access to Market, e.g. appbrain, droidpit, etc. I am not ready to go Tnt lite. I did see a thread to flash parts of the rom, and add market, etc, but am afraid it would disable OTA for the future. Any suggestions?

Losing the OTA is not that big a deal. Viewsonic posts a link to their updates on their site and a link is posted here within seconds of an update showing up.
Are you using "Market" or gMarket" that comes with the 3389 update?
When you run "Market" browse around and then hit the "home" button. Unless you have a taskmanager installed, market will stay running. Market should then show up under the "running" section. I am a little confused because I have never seen the Market under the "downloaded" section.
Thanks...
Thanks, BadFrog for the reply. I use Market. The gmarket gets me to Handango, which is really not that good. For some reason, Market does not show up under running, no matter what I do. I even tried to download a freebie to ensure it is running. But when I hit the home button, and go to the settings, it, as well as the other app I am supposed to force close are both under the downloaded, and not in running. Is there a way to reinstate OTA after flashing the market fix?
How exactly did you install the market. (I'm installing an older backup of tntlite becuase the menu structure is a bit different from vegan but the same as stock) I can install stock and market the way you did and see if I can help.

I had the same issue too with the market. I found this thread with the market fix. Just go to step 6 and follow the instruction on Youtube link.

I have the same problem after installing market and google apps through the same process. Everytime I launch market it says no apps found until I click one of the categories at the top. Even then, there are only some apps listed and most searches I try for apps I want to install (mog music for instance) aren't found by searching either.
I believe it has something to do with the version of the market, and whatever viewsonic put on the tablet by default? That said, I have tried to upgrade to the new market from an APK file I found in the forums here and it won't install. Hmmm

Thanks for the video link talexander18!! I'm was Vegan5 and still not getting the full market ... that did the trick for me.
Market
BadFrog, I used the files that came with the fix. It had a folder GTablet, with subfolders, and I transfered over files from the APK, permissions, etc, to my tablet, and I ran the apks, in the order suggested. I actually did this before the latest upgrade and it worked fine. But with the latest one, for some reason, Market, and the other google app I am supposed to force close won't come up in the running section.

I'm gonna assume your using the official viewsonic update 3389 then. I would suggest installing the performance pack from here

This will get you the latest NVidia drivers and the market. You will keep the complete stock look.
Yes, I guess that is what I will try next. Thanks.

[Q] Google Talk authentication failed?

Hey long time lurker, so heres the rundown.
I just updated my N1 from Cyanogenmod 7.1 RC1 to 7.1 Final by doing a fresh install and wiping 'errthing and then restoring using Titanium Backup. However I keep getting a popup that says "Google Talk authentication failed" that won't go away and does not allow me to use the Google Market.
I tried to go into the "talk" app via my app drawer but it just ends up hanging on the sign in. Normally I don't ever use Google Talk or Google Voice but I tried setting up my Voice account to counteract this but still nothing helped.
Should I restore to 7.1 RC1 and just update (without wiping anything) and see how that turns out or can I somehow patch it up?
Thanks!
I would try deleting data from Talk, Gmail, Market, and Google Services Framework first...
Perhaps even fix permissions from within ROM Manager...
I actually ended up re-installing the ROM from scratch and instead of linking it to my Google account right away I simply restored all my apps +data (didn't restore data on Google apps) and rebooted.
After that I added my Google account to the phone and everything just worked.
Thanks for the advice though, that's probably what I could have done and not needed to re-instal.
Just encountered this problem and fixed it by using Titanium Backup (I use pro edition) as follows:
1)Open TB and hit the menu button
2) click the Market tools button
3) select Market Doctor
4) select user and system apps
let it run through and market works again and no more google talk error messages.
Didn't have to wipe/reset anything!
Gotta love TB!

[Q] home button and "swipe from the top" has disappeared

Hi everyone,
My home button and the "swipe from the top" has disappeared since my last restart. I really have no idea what's happened and now I am using the apps called "Button Savior" to return the home screen.Maybe thid was because I have deleted some system files from system/data/data/com.android. providers.settings. I have restarted several times and it didn't work for my device. Now its really inconvenient to use the Kindle Fire HD. My current software version is 7.1.13. Could you guys help me to solve this problem? Thank you very much in advance.
maybe pull the rom in the development section and see if you can get the deleted files from it?
the only time my framework dissapeared was when i was trying to install the play store. i got it back by renaming a couple google framework apk's in the system folder and restarting...
Hi adiliyo,
How can I pull the Rom in the development section? As I have deleted many system files, I think I am in a much bigger trouble than yours.

if you can't get the individual files, maybe reflashing that rom will fix your problems
This happened to me, and some other folks. Look for a thread asking about how to view/run settings.
Anyway, some fixes mentioned were to turn off notifications for Gmail - hard to do if you can't get to settings, though.
What worked for me was to try and side-load an application - copy an APK file to the 'downloads' folder on your KFHD via a connected computer using the windows file explorer, or ADB - and then install the APK. In my case by clicking on it using a file manager. The KFHD told me that I would have to enable foreign application installs to finish the install of the side-loaded APK, and took me to that portion of settings that dealt with that. In that section was the 'Reset to Factory Defaults' button.
I pressed the reset button, and got everything back. Earlier applications (google play store) that I hadn't un-installed in an attempt to fix the problem were still there. Super User was intact. I downloaded & installed everything again, and all is working as it should be.
Until Amazon comes clean with this walking ad-server, details on how to modify it without introducing issues are going to be sketchy . It's just our lot in life, if you'll pardon. I appreciate having super user access, and all the Google apps I love to use, but what's really required is the ability to modify the boot loader. Until that's available, it's going to be try until it fails, and then scramble to recover.
Nice HW, but limited by Amazon's vision of the customers.

It works!!!! all the missing parts have come back. the Go launcher EX has saved in Cloud.
solution
download an app called my android, open the app go to my apps and find the settings app then go to device and then go to factory reset. its the only way I found to access settings when drop down didn't work. after resetting to factory my buttons all came back after doing the tooltip for startup
What worked for me on my AF tablet was to uninstall all 4 Google APK files, then uninstall the Launcher Hijack. The tablet swipe down and home button both came back for me. I then re-installed the Google APKs, but didn't re-install Launcher Hijack. Tablet works fine, functions are normal, just have to put up with seeing the default Amazon screen first before tapping the Nova Launcher icon to get to my custom screen, a minor inconvenience, and I didn't have to do a factory reset.
