battery issues on i9000 roms - Captivate Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I'm not talking about the charging issue but mainly the battery drainage. What is your average battery life with i9000 roms? I love them cause there are so many features included with them and they're smoooooth but I feel as if the battery drain is way too fast. 10% in one hour of minimal-average usage.
Is this common?

I have only used one I9000 rom, Mosaic VII and I love it but yes the battery life is less than I had on Fusion VI or Fasty II but my phone runs so much smoother. I'm going to run it for awhile and see if the battery life improves.

Alright cool. Let me know how the batterye is for you because for me there wasn't enough battery to last a day

I'm going back to Froyo roms for awhile. I was bragging to my wife how fast Mosaic 7 was and her phone was just as fast running Cognition Froyo rom. She has a Captivate also. Her's had much better gps and battery life. Post a note if you find a good GB rom. I'm running Serendipity 6.4 right now. So far pretty quick. Strong gps.

[Q] ROM for best battery life?

Edit: go ahead and move me, wrong forum...
What is the ROM that you guys have experienced the best battery life on? I had great battery life on one of the Cognition betas right after DG started using Froyo, but I don't know which one .
I'm using Perception Build 7 and I get a strong full day of use, but I would love to get more. I usually keep certain battery-draining activities to a minimum (e.g. auto-updating apps) so I would like to see even better performance, battery-wise.
So what's your experience with battery life and different ROMs?
Any of the latest cognition roms were best for me. I find that the ported roms are never quite as good.. but im using them anyway for the speed.
I found the insanity rom with the cogkernel was a pretty good combo. The rom was minimal and the kernel was just uv and not oc. It was pretty good. It rivaled the battery I got with frankentwiz and the unhelpful uv combo,Which ill miss forever T.T

Moved to Q&A.
i find the assonance ROMS have decent battery life
Axura with setiron 1.4.3. Tried with dgkernel and causes sleep death. Perception yields good life also

I just flashed 4.3, going to see how it does!

questions about roms

im looking for a new rom i want something thats good on the battery like paragon. but when i run paragon my speaker goes out (i have tried it twice now) i tried firefly but the battery was awful on it but speaker never went out. so im looking for something new with a good battery and isnt to laggy and simple.
Give Apex 5.1 (formerly Twingerbread)a try. I get great battery life, has a great modem, and its really quick and responsive. Then I swapped the Speedmod kernel for Suckerpunch-Voodoo #11. I ran about a 1680 quadrant, 14.25 linpack ten minutes after install.
Good luck, and I hope this helps.

Try Serendipity 6.3! It's got fantastic, minimalistic Gingerbread theming, and it's really fast. Plus, I get at least 2 days of battery life on it with moderate use.
Here's the link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=900568
I'm gonna second the suggestion for Serendipity 6.3, although I'll also mention that just because someone gets good battery life on a ROM doesn't mean you will. Everyone uses their phone differently. What may be moderate use to one person may be heavy usage to another and light usage to another. So I state above all else, your mileage WILL vary!
i understand about the milage i started using continuum im liking it so far. ill give the others a try after a week or so maybe.
Just flashed to serendipity 6.3 this morning, i would recommend it for sure. I browse the web for 12 or so hours at a time and my battery life has been greatly extended compared to the leaked stock froyo. Everything loads much faster as well

All roms are different its user choice .
jje
I'm currently using it right now. Its pretty good. But now it has been updated to version 3.2. Might go flash it tomorrow.
im running the 3.2 version
installed it 2 days ago
seems fine to me..
I was using darky's for a long time but since hes taken a break i've been exploring other rom's. I've been on simple honey 3.1 for about two weeks and really like. I have been getting outstanding battery life. On average two days of pretty heavy use, with wifi on and email sync. Been quite happy with it. It had a few bugs such as black on black text but 3.2 has fix that.
I can tell after some weeks of simply honey 3.1 it has strong points against other roms and some little bugs (ex. text on black) that seems to be fixed in 3.2.
Currently i'm 3.2 but battery life in 3.1 was better than every original, that's for sure.
Bye
Thanks I notice that battary life in 3.2 maybe little bit lower than the regular anroid Rom but this is a very good Rom I haven't noticed any bugs yet
rom has very little effect on battery relative to the kernel: Simply Honey 3.2 has excellent battery life because it utilizes the GTO kernel
it's still an excellent Rom but what differentiates various Roms from one another regarding battery use is the kernel they use
Maybe darix can do a battery re-calibration and see how's the new battery life. Should be better than normal rom.

hows the gps on dis rom?

Horrible batt life on m5

I have 2 cappy's right now one is continuum 5.6 which I'd on my guinea pig phone waiting to be sent back to rogers and my daily user is ruining mosaic 5 ihad then both fully charged to see batt drain, Im having terrible battery life with mosaic actually the first rom ever to kill my phone by 3pm when usually I leave work with at least 60%..i love the rom but hate a dead phone.im gonna let them both sit anf.see which is better ..any advice

Spit balling here:
Does the M5 phone have the newest Google Maps app, if so you need to replace as this is constantly running in background.
I just flashed MV as well from PHX JS8 and also noticed my battery draining faster than normal.
I uninstalled google maps yesterday and can already notice a difference in battery life.
I also felt Darkeys kernel was too bright and felt like this may be contributing to battery drain as well (this is just an assumption I have no proof). I flashed Existz stock kernal and the screen isn't as bright.
So far I can notice better battery life but have only done one charge cycle since the changes above.
I just checked and there is 2 maps ..one has red text meaning system app and the other didnt, how do I know which one its draining my batt,i used bloat freezer and froze both

[Q] Changing from CM 7.1

I've been on CM7 for a little while and really like the overall look and feel but am completely fed up with the absolute atrocious battery life. Even with the new 1800mAH battery I can barely make it through a work day (7:30am-6:30pm).
I was on Firefly 3.0 for a long time before trying CM7 and pretty much liked it a lot.
I havent decided if I want to go back to FF3.0 or should I try a different gingerbread based ROM. So I'm asking for some opinions and input. Whats the best ROM out there that has a great mix of good performance, good battery life, and good overall look and feel?
Thanks!
TBH, Froyo. I get crappy battery on all of them but when I run stock Froyo my battery last all day. Just my .02

give a shot to IlluminatedOne...Its based on i897 GB...I am using from last week, it had good speed and my battery last 15-16 with heavy use and 3G on for more than 5 hrs...
Without 3G on (wifi only) I reach 20 hrs....
Fusion and Fasty is also good roms.....
