Since the XL has only one core and no external memory slot, is the XL a downgrade from the original sensation?
Hmmm?

Yes?

Maybe NOT!
I read a review about the XL on GSMArena , and "the most shocking" that the XL outperforms The original Sensation in ALL benchmarks except Quadrant !!!

Probably because said benchmarks aren't optimised for the dual cores...

The main difference is that the XL comes with Sense 3.5 out of the box which is a lot more lightweight and the original and XE come with Sense 3.0 ... just wait till it's officially out for them.
Would you say it's more optimized and only needed 1 core? Plus I imagine using a lower screen resolution also helped speed it up.

Well if you really wanna get technical.......a 4 cylinder diesel would out perform a gasoline v8 easily. Just like a Lancer Evolution (4 cylinder) would spank the panties off a Mustang (v8)
Yup... The Sensation XL has newer drivers, newer Sense. That's what gives you the difference. It's also clocked higher, and mhz make a bigger difference than the number of cores in some benchmarks/tasks.
If you have a duallcore at 1ghz and a singlecore at 1,5 ghz, the single core would always be faster at something like browsing.
But the question doesn't really make sense... Is it an upgrade or a downgrade?!? Depends... It's a downgrade in some areas: microSD, number of cores, and an upgrade in other areas: Camera, screensize, mhz.
It might be an upgrade for you, or it might be a downgrade... Depends on what your needs are and how you use it...

HTC has by far the best phones in terms of materials. Samsung is all plastic, I would much rather have an all Aluminium body. LG is...well I think we all know what LG is right now... so they're out.
And don't forget Nexus will be Open Source no matter who makes it! I'm excited about this phone, I wonder what Ice Cream Sandwich is like.
Cheers
HTC will no longer lock their bootloader... it will be open season or custom rom developers

Idk. But its a discussion for the nexus 3
Sure samsung,is plasticy, but, if they change it to a more metallic body the hardware is the best! Voodoo sound, super amoled 2, dual core 1.5 ghz, 4.3" screen, android ice cream, 10 mega pixel camera and I'm in mobile paradise

and if ever the buzzes are not true...
PLs. no samsung!
i dont like their plastic slippery and weird looking phones.
the last time i had a samsung phone, i was so mad at it i broke the screen because of the terrible laggy UI.. cough*galaxy s*
HTC but pls no samsung!!
Uhh... Look! The new iNexus!

i don't care who makes it aslong as it has a quadcore processor
why? you might ask, what is there to gain with a quadcore processor?
nothing! but bragging to friends with the fact that their phones only have 1 core and then making outrageous statements that your phone is by definition is 4x as fast as theirs sounds find to me
I think google can't stay with one manufacturer cause maybe it would be unfair for the rest.

Yeah - thats defo not a HTC phone, they would never make such a blunt copy of the iPhone 3g - would have Apple suing them big time.
As far as I see it, thats nothing but a photoshopped iphone 3g/3gs
HTC Releasing Updated HTC One This Year, New Flagship in 2014
HTC’s One is currently the company’s flagship device, and will be over the next few months. But sources say not to rule out a follow up later this year, likely in the fall, that will be aligned as an “updated version.” If you haven’t picked up one of the best handsets currently on the market, you might want to hold off and wait it out.

I would hope the M8 has better camera zoom. But for now I would be happy with the sprint 4.2.2, after that I am sure my wants will lean towards the M8 :crying:

So with is it. They should stick to aluminum
Sent from my HTCONE using xda premium
They BETTER stick to metal unibody. It's one of the only things which makes the device stand out tangibly.
Also, I expect a recessed camera lens, less flush buttons, a higher MP count, no (or at least revised) capacitive buttons and a new name for God's sake.
One, One S, One SV, One V, One X, One X+, etc. ???
To be honest, it's probably with different microphones. Lol I believe they said once they run out of the current supply of Mics, they'd use different ones due to Nokia's exclusivity to them for now.

Wow, they're not wasting any time. It's already in certification stages, and we all know who'll be getting through that first. I wonder how long it'll take for Sprint to greenlight the build for us?
I'm excited. If it's anything like the ROMs that were released then we're in for a great surprise.

I'll withhold my comments regarding team venom based roms. With that said, this is a custom ROM, so this may very well be their own twist on it or a feel good feature or a modified version to get around the alleged hardware requirements. If it is a feature in SENSE 6.0 from HTC for the M7 though i will be thrilled.

As far as I know there isn't a hardware requirement for HTC extreme power saver since all it does is disable all background apps and disables mobile data. Samsung's power saver does have a hardware requirement for the black display saving power since that's for oled displays

Hey guys
I have been doing research ever since HTC announced they were cancelling lollipop and remembered when I got the phone, opened the box first thing I saw was a card stating "Two years of updates". Does anyone else remember this card/still have it as I am planning to take a a case to HTC on false advertising.
I bought the phone in september 2014.. i don't remember this card but i'm sure that they just don't care about update for a non flagship phone ..
Will have a look but don't remember seeing one

The HTC One Remix is the Verizon variant of the One mini 2. So yeah, it must be updated. And HTC Advantage isn't USA only, HTC's Indian site also showcases it.

I think that is important difference.
You can find more information here https://source.android.com/compatibility/5.0/android-5.0-cdd.pdf
Looking at the linked PDF 1GB should be enough. Screen is normal and cpu is 32 bit. CM12 runs fine apart from camera and audio glitches.
Thread closed, no obvious point continuing conjecture.
Whatever HTC appeared to promise, or not, updates for however long may not necessarily imply updates to Lollipop. Updates ad infinitum could mean KitKat updates and mini-updates etc.
My pixel 4xl whites seem kinda of dull if that makes sense. My redmagic 3 screen really pops compared to my xl. I have adjusted the display settings, and it just seems...well dull.

It's one of two things:
1. The screen is only around 430 nits in brightness so whites might not seem that bright.
2. The screen is rated a white balance 6600 kelvin which is close to the 6500 standard. Many screens run cooler as seen in the screenshot.

It's definitely software limited because if you're rooted, you can enable a high brightness mode that's 610 nits. It's most likely capped at 430 because of obvious battery limitations.
