You will have to use the partitioning tool that you used to try and make your ext2 partition. Make sure you back up your SD card, just in case.

If you want to remove the partition completely you can use the same program you used to create it. Other way is to back up your SD files and format it from settings-storage-Erase SD card. You can also format it from the PC, by clicking right click on the SD and then format.. If you want to wipe only its content and not the partition you can use Open Recovery MiniMod by -FuFu-.

Connect your sd card to computer by using card reader
U can use Acronis Disk Director to resize (or merge) 2 partitions.
Then use SDFormatter tp format it...i tried and success!
Hope you'll find this helpful!
Remember to backup your data first

[Q] Copying A2SD partition to a new microSD card

I just bought a new class 6 microSD card to replace the class 2 card currently in my phone and I'm wondering what the easiest way to copy the data from the existing card to the new one.
Would the following be the easiest steps?
1) Do a nandroid backup of the phone
2) Copy the contents of the FAT partition to a PC using USB mount
3) Turn off the phone and replace the microSD card with the new one
4) Partition the new card for A2SD using recovery
5) Copy the contents of the FAT partition from the PC to the card using USB mount
6) Do a nandroid restore
Any other ways to do it?
Backup the fat part.
nadroid +ext backup
replace card
format new card
nand +ext restore
profit???
In none of your steps did you mention anything about backing up the ext partition. If you don't need that just copy and paste.
Doesn't nandroid automatically backup the ext partition when used from recovery?
No.
10char
There are several possible loopholes, so let me clarify a couple of things.
When you backup nand+ext, the backup goes to FAT32 partition of the SD. So you need to:
backup nand+ext
mount SD
copy everything from FAT32 to PC
unmount SD
remove old card
insert new card
partition it
mount SD
copy everything from PC to FAT32
restore nand+ext
Now, it might be faster copying the card using card reader, but here's the catch - unless you have Linux anywhere on the computer, the card won't be readable, Windows can't read multi-partition SD cards.

what recovery are you using? all backups(nand+ext) will be done in recovery only..

i am using 4ext touch recovery.
My doubt is that will recovery will do backup of ext4 partition also along with fat32? or i need to use separate app to backup data n app in ext4 ?

works perfectly
yest changed microSD from 4GB sandiskclass4 to 16 GB sandisk mobile ultra class 6!!!

Edited:
This method is causing FCs and restarts and insufficient storage error . Check the link.
I don't think its a rt wy for ICS beta ROM at least for me.
While swapping cards better method is(atleast for ROMs which are not stable)
1) backup the apps (apk), app data, sms, call log and other settings using my backup pro or some other good app.
2) Save it to ur PC
3) Then do a complete wipe (factory reset) and install ROM.
4) Copy the restore data form PC to microSD, do a restore using the app which was used for backup.

Least painful way of upgrading sdcard?

In a few days, I will get my new sdcard, a 16gb one. How should I go about switching it the easiest way? I run ICS and it's partitioned to 1GB ext4 storage.

Copy and paste? You really don't need anything more.
I backup old card to pc (copy/paste as mentioned)
then use sdformatter outside of phone to format with full erase and size adjustment on
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/28338566/SDFormatter 2.0.mht
this is a sure way to fully format card
then I put back in phone partition 1gb ext4 no swap
then copy back files from pc to card
don't know any easy way, but the best imo
If you're using SD-EXT partition and don't have access to Linux:
Complete nandroid backup in recovery (it will back up the EXT partition too).
Mount USB from recovery, copy everything from card to PC.
Power off the phone.
Remove the card.
Insert the new card.
Boot to recovery.
Partition the new card (1GB EXT4, no swap).
Mount SD in recovery, copy everything from PC to card.
Unmount card.
Full nandroid restore (it'll restore the EXT4 partition).
Reboot and you're good.
Just copying what's on your SD card to PC will leave you without booting OS and apps.
On Linux you can copy EXT partition contents to PC, and copy them to the new card after repartitioning. But if you were on Linux, you woudn't be asking...

Agree, a little faster way will be to backup only sd-ext from recovery and restore only it to new card.
BTW, new card is good time to get rid of old junks in sdcard. Copy only whatever is required.

SD Card's partitions

Hi
I partition my SD card in nAa-11 recovery (256 SWAP and 768 EXT, 7 GB free), and now I can't restore it to his original condition - 8GB. Windows didn't see 8GB, just 7GB and I can format it, but it always shows 7GB as the total available space.
Any ideas, guys? I have to remount dis partitions in terminal emulator, or what?
You need to use a Partition Tool that supports Linux partitions, like GParted.
EDIT: A more easy way is repartitioning your SD from Recovery, setting SWAP and EXT to 0.
Use SDFormatter V3.1 and make sure you select format size adjustment ON option. A quick format should be ok.

use your android fone to format sd card.. in settings go to sd card and phone storage settings then unmount your sd card and then format it.. after formatting mount it back and now your partiotion was gone you can now see your 8 gb storage

try to mount your sdcard to your computer using a card reader, then re-format with GParted (if you're using Linux) or Mini Tool Partition Wizard (if you're using Windows)
Not sure if this is the right place to ask this question, but:
I partitioned my memory card into 2 so I could install apps to sd card using Link2sd. The first partition where all the data was being saved got corrupted and had to be formated. In the process I have lost all the data that came on it originally. I have tried using the Android File Recovery, it does recovers all the files, but the directory structure is lost.
Is there any way I could get the data back that was there originally?
The partitions on card are in Fat32 format.

ginger dx 29 stock and ext2 partition

everytime i try and create a ext2/3/4 partition on my sd card the rom will then refuse to mount the sd card it says mounting sd card then sd card is safe to remove
it is partitioned correctly with primary as fat 32 6gb and a second logical partition of 512mb running ext2/3/4 all ofthem will not allow the rom to mount the sd card anyideas?
ok found the issuen i think it is detecting the ext3 partition as the main one and trys to loads this up first bu can as its ext not a fat32

Go here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1117100 . You can partition your card directly from within the program. Your card will be wiped, so backup your data. Also, better to have your antivirus program disabled.
Or you can install the nobodyAtall CWM 3.2.0.0r3 or the nobodyAtall CWM 3.2.0.0r4 from that program as well, there's an option in the Advanced menu for partitioning.
CWM 4.0.1.5 and XRecovery don't have options for partitioning.

have tried that but none of the options will work on my device
well finally got the dam x8toolbox to detect my phone and partiton the sd card ait was working fine till i took sd card out to add files back on to it and back to square one the phone wont mount the sd card as it detect the sd-ext partition first and tried and fails to mount that as storage
Without digging deeper into it, maybe you could just not take the card out and just use the USB to transfer the files.
What OS are you running on your computer?
Maybe u are using Linux swap that's why it is unmounting the SD card. & both partitions must be primary (not logical)(ext2/3/4)
Sent from my W8 using xda app-developers app
Make the ext partition as PRIMARY, not as LOGICAL partition (as suggested in the previous post) This the problem source. (The logical partitions have different partition numbers)

[Q] Split memory card to store apps

Guyz,
Seriously bugged with this low internal memory. pls tell me step by step method how to partition my memory card to two n store apps.
I had previously read a thread from XDA developer only and followed steps which made my SD card damaged.
What i did was
1. Backed up SD card contents to PC
2. Downloaded link2sd app to phone.
3. Downloaded root file to phone.
4. Removed SD card and using mini tool s/w made 2nd partition and made it primary and other as logical (Partition was created using FAT32 - 4gb card)
5. Inserted SD card back to phone to copy roof file and link apps to SD card using linktoSD app. But 1ce i inserted SD card it showed memory card crashed.
So pls tell me detailed steps to make it possible. pls pls.. will be a big help.
ADMIN pls help me out by directing to detailed steps.
Regards
Arun
Arun, do the following:
Using Mini tool
Partition 1 will be FAT32 as Primary (For storing your media files)
Partition 2 will be ext3 as Primary (For storing your apps)
Remember, Both partition will be PRIMARY. (None of them will be Logical)
Additional note: Use a card reader, don't go for USB mount.
That should be it.
Q: May I know which ROM are you using with Link2SD?
Use CWM recovery to partition sd card.
Sent from my GT-S5830
Use any partition tools other than the windows native one, basically any that can format your second partition to ext3 or ext 4. Fat32 actually works but not recommended. You should plug in your SD card directly into the computer either by using a card reader or a SD card slot. That will then allow you to partition correctly.
There should be 2 partitions, both primary partitions, make sure that you backup your data before doing any partitioning. Windows will only recognise the first primary partition and mount it. So preferably you should have your data partition in front, and the second partition for your applications. The size of your second partition should be around 512mb.
Once you are done, reboot your phone and launch Link2SD, it should prompt you to ask for the filesystem of your second partition, select accordingly. Then it will begin mounting the scripts, followed by requesting to reboot. After a reboot, open up Link2SD and check the memory status, you should have additional sdext listed there.
Start moving your apps by creating link.
Note: make sure that you have rooted your phone correctly
