I have been on the forum for about a month now (Just purchased the Droid Bionic as my first Android Device). I am not able to post this question in the actual BLURR3D V1.7 PBX thread.
My question: When I installed V1.5, there was not the same option for "Battery & data manager" as my stock bionic. I live and work in a strictly U.S. Cellular area. I need to have the data roaming allowed at all times (they have a contract with Verizon, so I never get charged extra). When I installed V1.5, I could not find the option for data roaming.
Were is this setting located at? Is it fixed in V1.7?
Sorry for posting this in the wrong spot.
I'm still using a stock/rooted/debloated rom and havent tried the above rom but i think i read that he removed it in the rom on purpose and included the .apk for it as a download link on the bottom of the original post.
if you are still new to android, the .apk is the application file, the easiest way to install it is download it, send it to your phone through gmail, and then there should be an install link next to the attachment in gmail on your phone. click it and you should be good to go. It might ask you to change the settings to allow unknown sources to install apps, make sure that is checked.
hope that helps
I have 1.7 on my Bionic and in Battery & Data Management/Data Delivery there are three options to be checked and one of them is Data Roaming (Connect to data services when roaming). Is that what you are looking for?

In 1.5 the Battery & Bata Management was removed. I suggest updating to 1.7
Thanks for the help!
Thanks for the help- I just installed V1.7 and everything seems to be working out great so far. Nice and streamlined so far.
Yes he definitely added it back in the 1.7 update.. Im digging his builds, They all run Super smooth

If you get an incoming call while online via Togga (with Sprint, if it matters), will the call always and invariably go to voicemail, or will it sometimes/always ask whether you want to terminate the data connection and take the call (the way WM6/6.1 does)?
Likewise, if you get a text message while running Android, is that message going to be forever unknown to Windows Mobile? Or is there a window of time where the message is retained on Sprint's server, and if you boot WM during that window it will see the message and fetch a copy for itself?

You're using the most recent files from DZO's site? What version radio firmware is your phone using?

Android knows when you are in a voice call and suspends the data connection. Also, I've never had an issue receiving a phone call when connected to the ppp internet connection. It's pretty seamless, at least for me on my touch.
You're text messages get routed to whatever OS it is running. If my phone dies, I plug it in start up winmo and it i will receive all the text messages and store them in its own database. Once I boot android it will receive any messages the radio receives and store them in its database. So text messages will never go across OS'es ever as they are considered received after any one OS receives it. Hope that helps.
Alltel
Anyone know of the Alltel Username and Password?? Thanks
Hello,
what,s that mean:"wizard login:" it appered when I was installing Android
and then it just stop there.Could anybody tell me what elements I need ?
Or give me a full pack Please!!!!!!!Thank you !!!!!!!!
Sorry for my poor English
Landon I also have Alltel use (your number)@alltelmobile and leave the password blank. ext I have been using the latest files from dzo I probably had the togga connected at the time when i was getting texts, but it never seemed to happen on ealier builds when connected via PIE. Also as some suggested it is not carrier specific this happens on GSM AT&T and CDMA Sprint and probably my own Alltel.
Battery
I asked this in the other forum but I'm asking again.
Is it ok to leave the phone on the charger overnight while running android.
AdamWill said yes but it gets hot and he was on a titan.
htc tech support said it's probably not a good idea because the charger circuit is software controlled.
So does anyone leave their phone overnight and what results have you seen.

Authentication for Sprint
Just loaded this onto my Sprint Touch and it works great (after fooling with a bad SD card). My only other stumbling block was getting logged into the data network. Turns out that I couldn't leave the username null -- in default.txt I had to specify
set cmdline "[email protected]"
Replace "3525551212" with your cell phone# (starting w/ area code). I'm in the US.

I am trying to install two apk's, IOfilemanager and VideoPlayer.apk...
I put both file in the root of my SD card in a file named AndroidApps
I have the latest vogue-android release, and my sound works so I know I dont have a problem with my radio
I tried putting the file both in the root of sd card, and the phone's memory, but it keeps on showing the glowing android, doing around 3 blinks then restarting, and its a never ending cycle...
I do not have a data connection so I cannot download it via browser...
EDIT: I replaced the files and it worked, mightve been corrupted...

what do you mean by work because if you mean that there are no contacts when you boot Android then that is normal because android has no access to the phones memory only the SD Card you can use a few different programs to tranver the contact from WM to Android the best is Funambol.com it has a an app for both wm and Android to sync them via its website and its very easy to use just check out this link for a how to http://www.myhtcphone.com/import-contacts
There's a couple of things I'm still trying to figure out about this whole android thing. My apologies if these questions have already been asked, I could not find them.
1) Why doesn't the "Edit Sync Groups" button do anything? All my contacts are in gmail so I'd like to sync there. I'd also like to sync my google calendar.
2) The screen calibration is a bit off -- how do I re-calibrate?
3) I thought Android had an online app store (think it was called the "Marketplace") --- is this available on the vogue or no? What is the best way to install apps if no.
I apologize in advanced for what are probably ignorant questions.
Thanks!

1) this is more of an issues with Google because the Vogue is a port and Google has not opened all parts of the Android OS, or at least that is how i understand it if i am wrong someone please give a more information
2) The screen calibration is kind of a work in progress but there is a way to Calibrate

Thanks so much for answering those questions. Definitely helps me out. Its really unfortunate that the google syncing doesn't work... all my data is on there :[
At the present time, if I'm booted into Android, and the files needed to boot Android are on the storage card, is there any good way to get an .apk file built by Netbeans (using Undroid) onto my Vogue to test/play with WITHOUT booting back into WM6.1 first? As far as I can tell, Bluetooth isn't implemented, nor is mounting Android's filesystems as USB drives on a tethered PC... and I'm taking for granted that everything will go down in flames if I remove the storage card with Android running ;-)
If I did something slightly Rube-Goldberg-esque, like run a FTP server on my desktop PC with my router redirecting the port to it, then launched a FTP client on the phone to connect to it over the internet and download the .apk file into the "Android Programs" directory on the storage card... would it do any good? Or do .apk files in the folder ONLY autodeploy if they're physically present in that folder when Android itself boots up from WM6.1?
Similarly, if I boot with a .apk file in the directory, launch it and play with it, reboot into WM6.1, rebuild the .apk file, copy it to the storage card's Android Programs subdirectory, relaunch Android, and try IT... then repeat a few dozen or hundred times over the span of a few weeks... will each new version leave crud and residue in Android's equivalent of the registry (assuming it HAS one)? Or will everything related to the previous .apk file be cleanly purged? God forbid, does Android not actually deploy apps AT ALL, and just run them "where they lie" directly from their .apk file?
So far, I'm on chapter 6 of the "Busy Coder's Guide to Android Programming" (v2.0), but I haven't been brave enough yet to try running anything on my real phone since at this point I still have no real idea what's happening "behind the scenes" when Android (or DZO's bootloader?) finds .apk files in the directory on the storage card.
Question:1

Well I guess I didn't use titanium backup correctly because I flashed my tab to a European firmware and now I'm without the connection manager.
I dont really care for bloatware, but I use the AT&T widget to purchase data and keep track of how much I've used.
Any help?

Just try NetCounter
I am in the same boat and would appreciate someone providing AT&T Connection Manager or Account Manager--I'm not sure which one is the app with a widget option that allows you to see data usage and purchase additional data.
Apps like NetCounter don't show actual usage aligned with the billing cycle. Nor can you purchase additional data from this type of app.
Just search for it on att website

Seems silly to download a 250mb rom when the app is probably 500k, no?
Pm me your email address and I will send it.
I wiped my phone, didn't backup anything and got Android Revolution HD
When I got my phone with 3 it had alot of extra useless apps/widgets but there was one that looked very useful!
I can't find it on the app store or anywhere when I Google but its a My 3 Widget.
It allows me to simply have a widget telling me my data usage and so on without having to get to it though the browser.
Does anyone have it???
Or even a backup of the default ROM from a DHD from 3?
Give Quota a go, its available for free from the market and comes with a small widget that shows call and data balances for most Aus providers including 3. Much better than 3's widget imo

Hi, as the title of the thread says I am trying to figure out how to edit certain settings via build.prop, rather than ##PROGRAM.
This is because of two things: I flashed my bionic to page plus, using the stock rom, then I installed Carbon ROM in slot1. To make 3G operate correctly, you have to change certain settings using ##PROGRAM. The stock rom works great after using the program menu. Unfortunately, the Carbon Rom, although fantastic, does not have this menu.
One of the settings is to change Sim type to 3G. The other is to set lte bppanic to disable. Then disable class 1 and class 2 apns.
If anyone knows how to do this, I would be thrilled, as would other Page Plus users, I imagine. Thanks.

This may be off by a long shot, but relating to radios..

typed on my Bionic
Hi, I think that is the right direction. However, so far I cannot find out how to change sim type to 3g or set lte bppanic to disable using a database.
There are similar "name" inputs there, like network mode, etc, but nothing indicating those exact settings. I wonder if I find the settings under the stock rom, can i import them into carbon? Or are they motorola-rom-specific?
I think that these are actually important questions for flashed users, and we will see this becoming more and more of an issue as 3G phones become obsolete, and the only way for a Page Plus or other Verizon MVNO user to have a workable smartphone is to flash a 4G one,
On the Bionic (and I imagine on other models), the only option for now will be the stock rom; any rom without access to the ##PROGRAM menu will be left short as far as advanced network settings goes. Of course, I think this might vary depending on how you flashed in the first place. I used a free tutorial that was quite simple.

I honestly couldn't input much on this, as I've never had to dabble with this area ( well just once, quite a long time ago), but I'd imagine you could check out the data bases ( maybe take a "snapshot" or copy/download it) from a stock rom, make your changes using that ##program menu, then compare the new/changed database to the prior one.
That would be a quick way to detect if any values are being affected there, and where. Then you may as well check if those values exist on other roms, and try them out. Couldn't hurt, with safestrap/recovery backups and all.

I believe that you should check out the setup for page plus on howard forums. It goes thru the changes to make the bionic 3g and turn off 4g completely. But the links to the apps and basic principles should still apply. Good luck, if you can't find it let me know. I'll send you a link.

This mod will enable native hotspot to work w/ 4G
You will need a root file explorer and sqlite editor to complete this mod.
Your choice to flash this- Do a back up
After that- GET S-OFF
Sunshine will cost you, but is well worth it.
Instructions:
1) Flash the attached aroma installer in recovery.
2) Select the appropriate option, click install, and reboot. Upon reboot your phone will optimize
3) Once rebooted, navigate to /data/data/com.android.providers.telephony/databases with a root explorer
4) Open the cdmaapn.db with a sqlite editor and select carriers.
5) Scroll over until you see the block of apns with a 1 in the current column
6) In that block you want to edit the apn labeled Internet. Open it and delete hidden. Just leave it blank, and hit save.
7) Go to settings>mobile data. You will see a new option named Access point names. Tap that, and then tap the apn
8) In the Apn type section add ,dun. IMPORTANT- no spaces. So you would end up w/ default, mms, supl, hipri, dun w/ no space after.
9) Tap the Apn protocol and change it to IPv4.
10) Reboot. After booting back up, tether should be good to go
Notes:
1) The flash will install a script that disables IPv6 for wlan0. If you need that don't flash this
2) It is a good idea to forget any wifi networks that you regularly connect to, and reconnect
3) When you are not tethering you can switch the APN protocol back to IPv4/IPv6 if you choose, though I have found no benefit to doing so
Credits:
@OMJ- He put the aroma installer together. It would be a lot more complicated to get this on your phone without it. I have been working on this for a good while, but didn't have 4G in my area until last week. Without he and @benny3 testing, this would have been a while longer coming out.
I have tested this on the following Bad Boyz roms- Stock Rooted, L w/ Sense 6, and L w/ Sense 7
EDIT: Please do a profile update after doing this.
EDIT2 New option added for Non- Bad Boyz sense 7 ROM's HERE

This is amazing work and a huge step forward.
I have a question for you though.
Is there a way to cut out any of these steps by flashing a modified file to the corresponding location?
My idea is to write a modified cdmaapn.db to /data/data/com.android.providers.telephony/databases
and possibly even a modified APN config.xml.
Would it be the same across roms?
I know most would frown on this because if you want the goods you should be able to make a few edits and reboot, but if it can all be done by flashing something in recovery or through the same aroma, it could save time and cut out user errors.

It was tried. Flashing a modified database causes the phone to fc, and revert back to the old apns. Sprint doesn't use the apn config file. It uses a .dat file in /system/customize

Here is a log. Log should begin when I use the tether in the quick settings. I connect my windows surface pro 2. Everything connects and I am able to successfully browse for a couple minutes then the data connection on my phone will disconnect then reconnect several seconds later. I have to reset the tether connection to get back online. Does this on 3g and 4g. I have flashed the aroma file and made the edits as necessary. Think this is related to this being a windows device which would be red flag to tethering without a plan? If this device was pinging a MS server for an update it would be very obvious. On the plus side my market WiFi tether app works good, however having the native app to work would be great. Many thanks for your contributions.
