Request to Revolutionary - Hboot 1.16.000 - HTC Incredible S

Since Hboot 1.16.000 is not supported by Revolutionary yet, I thought that maybe we can make a formal request via this thread.
Hopefully, the number of users with Hboot 1.16.000 is big enough to turn their attention towards the Incredible S Hboot 1.16.000.
So, how many of you want the - Inc S - Hboot 1.16.000 unlocked?
PS: If my idea seems out of line, you can just delete the thread.

I'm guessing phones with hboot 1.16.000 are really new ones since i got mine about a month ago and it had hboot 1.13.000.

Yep, my inc S is 2 weeks old...

Ya,I do hope revolutionary will have support on hboot 1.16 too, wait for it
Sent from my HTC Incredible S using Tapatalk

My HTC IncS was manufactured in June/11.
My boot is H1.16...
I bought an XTC Clip. I receive today in my house.

I have HBOOT 1.16.0000 and S-ON.
no need to do S-OFF to put on custom ROM.
I got someone else to do it for me, he remote controlled my computer and typed in all the commands. I'm happily using cyanogenmod 7.
Sorry I can't tell you how to do it exactly, as I didnt do it myself.
If someone here knows a lot about fastboot etc, here is a few commands I think he tried to do. see if you can fill in the blanks.
First, unlock the bootloader at HTC dev site. you need to log in and follow steps. once that is done it will say s-on so don't panic!!! Then what he did is flash a custom recovery/bootloader so I can flash ROM'S and zips. I copied the ROM onto the root of the SD card and installed it using the interface and it worked.
When I did this it was *supposed* to work but it still did not boot. I couldn't boot any ROM's except a 'MiUi', but it was really buggy. So my friend got me to install cyanogenmod on my phone using the bootloader, he flashed the boot.zip from the MiUi to the phone and it booted up with cyanogenmod! Then he put back the previous boot.zip from cyanogenmod and it worked! dunno why, but something must've gave it a kick.
sorry if it's a bit confusing, but it is a long process and a lot of trial and error. be sure what you're doing. You do not need revolutionary hack to do it. ALso, everyone says you need S-OFF, this is not true, it only matters if you want to flash complex things such as RADIO's which are protected. But to access root files and to install custom ROM's it's fine.
Hopefully someone can fill in the blanks here and come up with steps on how to do it
good luck

Thanks for sharing with us. I've replied to your other thread.
Cheers

I have a shipping SPL with S-OFF

Just been trying and failing to use the new rooting method that doesn't unlock the bootloader, when I noticed that when in FASTBOOT & HBOOT, the first line of text reads:
NEXUSONE PVT SHIP S-OFF
Now, I am certain I had checked this before and it was S-ON, but I can't remember if this was before I had sent it back to HTC for a repair, or maybe it is due to installing the pre-release 2.2 update.zips?
Either way, is this of any use to anyone?
its S-ON for me and im on stock frf72
are you sure you dont have a holiday nexus (phones given to employees and special prelease testing)
If it was a holiday phone it would say ENG S-OFF, not SHIP S-OFF
Ps. This was in development a minute ago... I put it there for a reason lol
ATT band phone, rooted, 2.2, S-ON

Engineering phone & Holiday phone are not the same thing.
Oh, I thought they both had the 768Kb SPL?
Either way, mine was bought from Google in late Jan, standard battery cover and the SPL 100% used to be S-ON.
Is this really of no use to anyone? I thought it might be handy for the relocking bootloader quest?

well if you sent it in to get it that way...its not gonna help much since we cant make a full image of the phone. are u unlocked now? can you relock?
Ah didn't know that it couldn't be dumped, just assumed it could be after reading that some folks had got their hands on the ENG SPL. Guess this is a non-starter then. Bugger.
Also I can't be sure that it is down to HTC, but it's all I can think of that would have changed it.

My N1 is running stock build ERD56C with bootloader locked - HBOOT says ENG S-OFF.
My battery cover has the AndroidBug waving the flag with the link to the holiday phone game on it and my bootanimation is the one that's included in the latest CyanogenMod 6 release (you may have frequented those threads about that, I pulled the anim out of my phone and posted it on Modaco - not sure if it was my bootanim the cyanogen guys used tho?! link: http://android.modaco.com/content/google-nexus-one-nexusone-modaco-com/311351/build-version-erd56c/).
Anyway, I've been told by a few folks that I've got a holiday phone but I guess if I'm ENG S-OFF then it must be an engineering one? Certainly it didn't seem like my bootanimation had been widely seen before...
Question is, may my phone be any use in the quest to relock the bootloader?

it MAY be possible. I remember that we got a hold of the Engineering SPL for the G1 when one of the Devs got their g1 back with the eng spl still on it
Interesting.
Well if anyone knows what commands need typing to try, post away!
OP this may by the rumor about FRF91 fixing the non-unlocked rooting method that surfaced with FRF72. I cannot confirm this though.
Er, what's that got to do with S-OFF SPLs?

What NOW?

I have successfully custom flashed Sense 3.0 with 2.3 gingerbread for my incredible S phone. It only took 3 long days. I am very happy but what now? I want this to be my permanent ROM. Is there anything else that I am recommended to do now? I was reading about how you can make your phone almost like a stock phone meaning S-OFF and Unroot. Not too sure if that is necessary. What do you guys think?
please provide more info..
what Custom Rom are you on and how did you flash Sense 3.0.
there's a lot of threads hear and your initial details really don't provide much useful information.
I am on Virtuous Unity 1.27.0 Sense 3.0 based on Pyramid, I flashed it through 4EXTRecovery_v2.1.0_RC1_vivo.
I also had to flash a radio file to my ROM afterwards. I did that through the SDK software. Instructions from here: http://wiki.cyanogenmod.com/wiki/HTC_Incredible_S:_FAQ Here is a list of Radio files for your specific provider/region : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=12870734&postcount=1
I S-OFF'd my phone through Alpha RevX..there is also a you tube tutorial on how to do it. If anyone has anymore questions on how to do it then msg me!
So now what is left to do?????? Any other procedures? Besides flashing more Roms!
saying the custom rom, radio, cwm would have been enough information. anyways i see that you're new so it's all good.
so the question is, What do you want to do with your phone. after customizing it, are you okay with performance? no bugs? What do YOU want to do with your phone?

What do you mean 'permanently make it my OS'? That ROM will stay on your phone as long as you want it, until you decide you want to flash a different one. There's no need to go trying to lock it down again after flashing it, that's a pointless exercise.
Dude you're S-OFF and rooted now, there is nothing else to do other than installing custom ROMs or flashing radios(if needed) Virtious Unity is now your ROM, if you want to revert back to what the phone came with, you will need to flash a official RUU.
Awesome thanks for the reply

That is a common misconception. Apparently AlphaRevX's HBOOT prevents a RUU from overwriting it. There have been several posts about running an RUU on an AlphaRevX S-OFF IncS and the ROM does indeed update, but the device is still S-OFF and AlphaRevX HBOOT is still in place.

I haven't tried it myself so I guess you're true, when I flashed the stock RUU I flashed it without the bootloader file (unzip, delete, zip) as stated in a thread regarding keeping S-OFF when installing stock RUU. A guy has found the solution to going S-ON again in his thread in the general discussion section.

Yes I saw that this morning. Basically AlphaRevX has a special HBOOT you can 'downgrade' with that you must flash and then using the special HBOOT you can flash an official HTC HBOOT. End result is S-OFF and you have a standard HTC HBOOT.

Bricked again?

So got the Incredible S in the beginning of July and was very happy with it, beat the hell out of my old HD2 who got bricked Desided not to root this one cause it was already android and i didnt want to break the warranty. But then the 2.3.3 update came and i didnt recieve text and calls was dismissed. (it is an own thread about this issue on the forums) so i desided to try a rom from XDA to see if this could help solve the issue. It did not but i rooted the phone (S-off right?) and used it with GSM only.. today i talked with HTC support and got a hold of the RUU_Vivo_HTC_WWE_1.36.405.1_Radio_Radio_20.23.30.0 802U_38.02.01.11_M_release_172670_signed.. the cusomter support guy uploaded it and i installed it with the USB cable.. the installer said everything went fine.. the phone reebots.. boots to the HTC logo screen and turns off again.. and keeps on going in the same cycle..
I can get into bootloader, but when i press "power" to choose recovery it goes straight to the white htc screen again and reebots.. what to do now? Is this one dead also?
Tried rename RUU to PG32IMG and put it on the memory card.. still no luck it says "Bootloader - Bypasses"
"TP - Bypassed"
"TP - Bypassed"
Why? And still no luck tried with two signed RUU's now.. The bootloader says
Vivo PVT SHIP S-OFF RL
HBOOT 6.13.1002
At least i want all the Revolutionary stuff gone.. Any idea? Im out of ideas right now.. Oh geez, it booted the 2.1.3 RUU.. nice.
But why would not the other room work? This is the one i have to get workin.. Any ideas?
Does the RUU got a radio in it? Please share this RUU cause I believe this is not avaible anywhere. I would give it a try then and report if I have issues.
Sent from my HTC Incredible S using xda premium
Yes I think it can be a radio conflict too, perhaps you downgraded it.
Here you go Please give a report if it work on your device
I also want to gain S-ON on my Incredible, used AlphaRevX Beta to get the S-OFF but i need it to be S-ON again, and i cant really fint the information on how to do it. These forums are amazing but very hard to navigate true, and find the information you are looking for.
Was thinking... You said you are S-OFF and then installed the 1.36 RUU. Possibly this RUU or ROM needs an older bootloader. Cause the bootloader cannot be overwritten (I assume you used Alpharev), the installation is aborted.
The newer RUU accepts the current bootloader and therefore is being installed.
I think, when you first downgrade your Hboot to the one that can be overwritten, the RUU should work and you can enjoy Froyo again!
So did it work ?

I think that was made with an old hboot in mind, before HTC started 2.0 bootloaders and the lib partition. You could try it, but I don't know any effects.
As the time it stands from my knowledge reading around here, once you go 2.0+ you can't go back down unless you go to htc-dev and unlock thus putting your phone's imei in their database

PERSONALLY I ALREADY KNOW THE REASON IT WONT BOOT WITH OLD HBOOT.
it goes like this.
If you want to support older Hboots it's really quite easy:
- on the installer script of your rom do not try to mount the /system/lib partition as it does not exist
- on the ramdisk, init.saga.rc, just take out the line that is mounting the partition, or at the very least, take out the "wait for mount" statement, that blocks until the partition is mounted, and that's what's causing the boot to fail.

Yeah, I have a sense 3.6 rom stock made from the RUU and it's booting and working fine, even after partition format etc.
I don't know if he can make it work since he doesn't have a vivo to test with, but he is doing sense 4.0.
Normally I don't like sense, but this is just a side project to get this working with the rev hboot.

I'm here with 6.13.1002 as well, and I would prefer to stay with that Hboot...
BTW kaijura I came from hboot 2.0 without passing by htc-dev, I just run nonverbose's tool...
Originally that tool used hellion bug or something similar but now uses tacoroot and work for sure with hboot 2.0 ( personally tested) not sure about 2.02.
The step are simple: just extrat the tool and answer the question...
If I recall corretly: downgrade, I don't have htc-dev unlock phone, I want to create a goldcard and that's it!
The script does all, u have only to reboot the phone and tell him when is rebooted!
Interesting, thanks for the share. I will read into it on the tacoroot.
Here is a link for stock HTC Sense 3.6 ICS 4.0.4 from the Chinese RUU. It's not based on Niks' or Lost prophet's rom. I just made it so it's working for 6.13.1002 hboot for anyone who wants to test it to try it out instead of waiting.
I don't intend to develop this rom or add features to it. It's just a test rom to see if it works and if you want to see what sense 3.6 is like without having to upgrade hboot.
STOCK CHINESE RUU WORKING FOR HBOOT 6.13.1002:
some bugs I've noticed:
- No play store, this may be due to related with CN region as they don't have google services (gmail, youtube, etc). Need to figure if it's APK related or something else.
- SU isn't loaded in yet. I'll have to look later what's wrong.
- Wifi MIGHT or MIGHT NOT work. It seems to be a regional issue and I need SU to install wifixmanager to test it.
- don't know what else, I didn't use it very long.
Rest of everything should be working. Mobile data, camera/camcorder, gmail, youtube, browser. Like I said, it's just a test rom so you know what sense 3.6 is like when the official one is ready.
http://www.4shared.com/zip/3Wy-g_WB/NoSU_noStore_Wifimaybe_rom.html
kaijura, first yes its correct that with the newish tacoroot exploit we no longer need to unlock via htcdev (thanks for pointing this out guys).
Secondly I have successfully swapped from revolutionary hboot to blackrose 2.02 and then back to revolutionary, no PC connection required. Here's the steps I took (and that others may at their own risk )
Make sure you have a nandroid or rom you wish to install. I know I shouldn't have to tell most people this so late in the game but anythings possible.
Download blackrose and extract hboot_blackrose.img to your sdcard root. Its not necessary to use the root folder but fits in this context.
Open terminal, or download and open if you dont have, and type:
Code:
su
dd if=/sdcard/hboot_blackrose.img of=/dev/block/mmcblk0p18
then reboot into recovery.
4ext touch recommended that I do a full system format, but you could probably just get away with formatting cache.
At this stage you should probably verify that you have actually installed the blackrose, by entering hboot.
To revert to revolutionary, its pretty much the same procedure. Simply put revhboot.img in your sdcard root folder and type:
Code:
su
dd if=/sdcard/revhboot.img of=/dev/block/mmcblk0p18
Reboot into recovery and format the cache, and verify again if necessary.
Edit: using the dd command does carry some risk. You should check the md5sums before flashing. This can be done in terminal
Code:
md5sum /sdcard/hboot_blackrose.img
Code:
md5sum /sdcard/revhboot.img
or in your favourite file explorer.
hboot_blackrose.img
MD5: 9ccb6c894bba1a32a551a6569fc6fccd
revhboot.img
MD5: b9758c59b660cb3dcf5037ec5ccd6b78
I am still on the revolutionary Hboot, and I do not intend to change unless there is either a performance improvement, or if I have to.
I am on ice cold sandwich
I dont really want to be messing with things I dont usually mess with, just as a precaution
Haven't you guys got around the problem anyway?

i'm using hboot 6.13.1002 here,
not intend to switch to higher hboot if possible ...
I am pretty happy staying on the Revolutionary H-boot if possible. Will see what happens in regard to development, why root further if I don't need to
I am also on revolutionary hboot 6.13.1002 here. i would also like the option of leaving my current bootloader alone.

[Q] How can I tell if it's possible to S-Off my phone?

So Wind Mobile just recently released their version of the HTC One on August 27th, 2013:
http://mobilesyrup.com/2013/08/23/wind-mobile-launching-the-htc-one-on-august-27th/
http://shop.windmobile.ca/ProductCatalog/Handsets/HandsetDetails.aspx?id=HTC+One(WINDCA)&color=green
From a little bit of researching, it seems like there are some prerequisites for performing S-Off. From what I've read, it seems to be the following:
Phone must be an older release as the newer hboots cannot be S-Off
If you are an older hboot, there are certain radios/firmware(?) that prevent S-Off in combination with the hboot
You must be on the stock rom
I'm worried that my new HTC One is too new to be able to S-Off as it was just released last week from the carrier. Also, because it was just released there are no RUU that can be used to downgrade the hboot(?). I'm assuming my understanding is correct.
As of right now, the phone is completely stock, no modifications have been made. I was wondering if anyone could tell me how to perform the following:
Install CWM Recovery
How to make a generic Nandroid so that anyone that needs to go back to stock Wind Mobile can use it (since no RUU is released)
If S-Off is possible given the current hboot and radio/firmware combination currently installed.
How to SuperCID this phone
How to keep S-Off and install hboot 1.54/5
I appreciate any help, I've attached a picture of my bootloader to add more details into my inquiry.
