[Q] Best stock and custom ROM - Huawei Ideos X6

*I wanted to post this in the development forum but the site wouldnt let me as I am new , so any moderator may feel free to shift it*
I wanted to ask which is the best 2.3 stock ROM for the X6 (as each company brings out its own firmware)
New buyers please read this thread first .( It has all Custom and Stock ROM download links too :- Thanks Haree)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1288293
The thread closest to this topic I could find was
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1274063
but nothing's clearly concluded on that one.So which company provides the best stock ROM
Spice (link not working since 10 days)
Wellcom (whole site unavailable - checked only today)
Cherry (only one thats working)
People are free to post links of other company ROM if they exist. And which is the best Custom ROM. Can anybody tell the pros and cons of each ROM, which service is not working ,etc . Is there any custom ROM out there that has everything running (front cam, FM, etc)
I have read the individual threads for each ROM and links are here but one sibgle thread to discuss and compare them would provide new buyers good info

yaa thanx for those links

Thanks for the advice Haree, but yesterday I installed the Cherry magnum update 3 and spent quite some time customizing , so is the 13D version much better than the cherry update 3 that I should install that one?
http://www.wellcommobile.com/android1/
If you go this link and scroll downwards , we'll see our phone with 3 links, one says android 2.3.4 upgrade (model not specified) , 2nd one says something in thai but A99 is written which is the thai version of our phone and third one I think is not for our phone .
The first 2 links are 200 and 270 mb respectively!!Does anybody know about them ? Are they new or do we already have them with different names (and sizes)
PS- What do you think about android 4 Ice cream sandwich . How fast will we get it ?

u can take 13D from here : https://www.sugarsync.com/share/dgkbgd5mo7pzk
i did try the A99. I have not tried the Magnum one u have mentined, do give me the link for this ROM.
What i did with the 13D was root, removed bloatware & removed my screen gaurd and its working very fine for me and im getting good battery around 2 days. id sugest u try it and see if it satisfies ur needs, because everybody has a different requirement for their roms, this is OK for me

http://www.cherrymobile.com.ph/content/downloads-magnum
this is the link for magnum hd rom from cherry mobile. its pretty good but I cant really judge considering I havent tried any other ROM

this is a good rom after rooting it and removing the blueberry bloat ware which is present it my version may be not in ur version. Im getting around 2days battery and after removing my screen gaurd im having zero screen going crazy problems

Yeah theres not much bloatware , but today I'll remove that too by rooting.
Oh and the crazy screen problem freaked me out, but went away after I removed the screen guard . Its funny cuz I could not see any bubbles . Should I get a new screen guard or not , cuz now I'm scared of scratching my phone

if this one worked ... i will do change the framework also for a custom theme

Hi,
I had been away for a while and now there are a ton of custom ROMs available for this phone. Can anybody tell me the best ROM out there for everyday use. Pros and Cons would be appreciated so that it helps other people also.

I have tried miui 1.11.11, cherry magnum HD(GB 2.3.4), spice (GB 2.3.4) and sharp SH8188U (GB 2.3.4). I find the sharp ROM as the most stable. The visual appeal of miui rom is the best and it is stable as well, the only downside is that it doesn't have HDMI and FM radio supported.
Sent from my SH8188U using XDA

What about performance? And also since I am going to use a custom rom , Which stock rom should I build it on, I 'll try Sharp like you said, I have already used cherry mangnum, its good.
So what do other people say, I am stunned with the sheer number no of Roms available now. I wonder why nobody posted benchmarks till now.
Thanks

Andro=ID ROM RC-3 is a good custom ROM to start with. You can flash it from the Sharp ROM which is GB 2.3.5. MIUI 1.11.11 is also one of the better options available. Very snappy performance and stable as well. Low incoming call volume is problem in this ROM which can be solved with a patch available. The miui ROM can be flashed from Cherry Magnum or any other Stock ROM based on Android 2.3.4.

Thanks a lot Indiarocks,
I'll try Sharp now, I have used edowars CM7 and loved it, but since you recommended MIUI 1.11.11, I'll give it a shot.(Are you sure its the best MIUI out there, there are so may versions haha)
Other people are free to speak out their opinions, also could somebody compare edowars CM7 to miui 1.11.11 and other ROMS.
Edit - I have been looking into MIUI, it seems Free Radical's MIUI 2.4.6 is the popular version. Is it good , or even better than edowars CM(27/3/12)
Thanks, this community rocks

Your phone has Corning glass it will not scratch easily so remove the protector. We were discussing this years ago over at AF before xda had a X6 section.
One of my WellcoM A99 has the crazy screen problem, its really starting to piss me off. If i flash any ROM other than stock WellcoM or Cherry Mobile it becomes unusable. It also becomes unusable with the stock ROM after a few weeks sometimes. Does anyone know if there is a screen_fix.zip for this or if there is a solution? cause its out of warranty and i dont live in Thailand nor can i read Thai on their forums.

The problem with these phones is that they have really sensitive screens but not non-adhesive screens like gorilla glass. Now when you touch the screen, the small amount of dirt and sweat from you fingers cause the phone to recognize 2-3 touchpoints and hence cause it to malfunction.(all of it is just my reasoning )
Just get a good screen guard, it solved the problem permanently for me.
PS - Sorry my net did not work at all yesterday, stupid MTNL. So does anybody answers to my question, I would like to apply a custom ROM, cant wait.

[Q] Best ROM

Hi guys...I'm Italian and my english is not perfect...excuse me! I have a Samsung Galaxy S and I want to mod it...I think that my phone is not fully exploited... I need a ROM that exploits it. My parameters of choice are stability, sensitivity and speed... What is the ROM that you suggest me? Thanks guys!
All new roms based on jpy are really fast and awesome. Just read the features of all the roms and choose one.
My favorite ; darky"s rom
The best rom is always someone else's rom. ..

You're right.
@OP
If you want a modular ROM where you can add pieces of components together, go for Doc's ROM.
If you want a great JPY ROM, go for Jim_Panse's ROM.
You can switch between ROMs as you like
Happy flashing & merry X-Mas!
I started of with the Darky ones, runs fast and smooth. Except for crappy GPS but thats not his fault, just samsung that ****ed somthing up.
Havent tried DOC's one though.

I think in terms of speed, all JPY ROMs are the same.
It's just about the customizing the ROM chef did
Not another best rom thread
We appreciate your willingness to start playing around with your android phone. However, to fully have the android experience, you will have to do what most of us do and that is flashing roms. Lots of them. Then you will know yourself which one you prefer.
BTW, this questions should be in the General section, not Development.
First you need to mention a few things more , like the firmware versions you are curently running.
Anyhow , Your first choice should be the official kies update that you may have in Italy at the moment. Maybe if you has in an eclair rom and you update to froyo is enough for your needs. Latest roms as said before are very good in terms of stability, sensitivity and speed.
If you need something beyond that , i would suggest Darkys rom ( no offence to the other guys ) which is easy to upgrade to and had a lot of goody's pre-installed
After that you should be able to fully understand the differences of every rom and make your choice.
Almost all guys here support their roms ( updates ) , they have detailed instructions , FAQ e.t.c. and you can also be helpful too , as a 4rth layer tester*
*
1rst layer = creator
2nd layer = mod creators that the rom include
3rd layer = Testers following the rom that know most of the common issues
4rht layer(us) = Testers that have fully read and understand the instructions and despite following them to the letter , they experience some kind of bug , so they report it
P.S. no actual layers exist , i just made them up to explain
IMO, i'd say last Darky's rom and Doc's.

[Q] [rom] will ever see this rom over here

i was fooling around at Desire dev threads, where is found this
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1016940&highlight=sense+3.0
as a nexus one owner really i'm jealous that non dev phone gets cool rom than we can easily have.
Can any one port this rom to our beloved nexus?
Yeap, it's right here. Link
There is alot more variety of roms in the desire dev section, this is probably because its a more popular phone and just as easily modded like the n1.
Even CM7 is more stable on desire, no wonk etc...
The sense roms are more feature complete and stable as well.
The time is soon where the N1 would have to be given up for people who needs these ROMS. Nobody will support it after awhile ):

I just want a more stable and less problematic os. My gf's Xperia arc with a single core runs better... lol
Many folks have different setups they have reached via trial and error. As per my findings most stable setup is Miui + Owains Tweak Pack.
Miui on its own is a little slow and laggy, with owains tweak pack it gets upto speed and then adds cool things like voodoo sound and google talk video. Currently I am on miui 1.10.28 and I will be upgrading to new miui with new tweak pack next week.
The only issue you will face is the phone will say that you have to turn on data roaming. It shows up as rogers wireless and I have been running it like this for a month and have not incurred any extra charges. So its fine as far as I'm concerned.
This same issue is also in Cyanogenmod (miui uses cyanogenmod code). Cm7 is very good but takes A LOT of tinkering to get to a decent state and also I got horrible battery life with it. Thats why I moved to miui and then discovered this wonderful forum with people like fajarep and higsy and owain94 who are doing custom things for my phone.
Fido has release the GB update through the LG Support Tool.
The only bad thing for me was that the Support Tool can't detect my firmware version after the update. Oh well, I'll deal with that if the roll out the ICS update for us

Not fair. The LG Update tool is not working for me it says I'm at the latest firmware. Im on 2.2.2. I'm on Fido aswell and I can't get it to work. I'm calling Fido on monday I'm so upset. The 2.2.2 is so buggy and has screen unresponsiveness issues. (many froyo roms do)
Same thing here
I am having the same issue. What's the deal here. It says phone is already latest , no need to update. But my firmware is still listed as being 2.2.2 Althugh few months ago when I checked using the tool it said there was an update required and it actually did flash my phone . Afterwards I noticed my " version #" had changed to v21b . However to my dismay, the firmware version remained unchanged at 2.2.2. What's up . Is this what people mean when I read references to " fake gingerbread" In relation to Optimus x2 updates??
Sigh, the crazy part is I recently heard a statement from LG saying that the x2 was one of the phones that has been slated for an ICS 4.0 update! huh? One empty promise at a time please ,LG
Thanks to anyone who can clarify .

I was in the same sinking boat as you are now. I have the O2X while i ot my gf the Xperia. I haven't rooted her phone, but mine was done a day or two after i got it.
I tried using the LG tool to update, and gave up. Way too so for my taste.
So i turned to CM7 and followed it religiously, till i turned pagan to my new lord(till ICS comes out officially), Temasek.
Im currently running Temasek's nightly Kang, 66 i believe. I had tried CM7's #218 nightly, but wasn't crazy about it. Didn't seem as stream lined as Tamasek's.
Just tried the ported version of ICS from Ricardo Cerqueira, very nice introduction. But i myself had too many issues with it, maybe should have done a full wipe, swipe and dump before installing it.
But all in all L1qu1d, don't be scared to root.... you won't regret it.
And good old nightly or kang can work wonders...
I think the only thing that concerns people about rooting is that they may not be able to get the official ICS update WHEN they finally decide to release it. Obviously you can revert/deroot etc and then you should be fine.. but still... lol. nerves.
LOL
i even forgot that there is such thing as lg tool.

If you want to check the newest version for your phone, use this link:

But replace YOUR_IMEI_HERE with (funnily enough) your phone's IMEI.

I started to learn how to root and flash new room with reading some guides around , you can find some in The developments section , the first think to know is how to root, how to install clockwork recovery and use it and finally how to flash new room ,personally i choose the cyanogenmod7 for the battery and the stability of this rom.
GPS troubles with Optimus 2x MIUI ROM
Newbie here and I feel like I am the only one that is having GPS problems here. I rooted my phone due to Wind mobile being extra slow with the updates for my phone and I cannot seem to get the GPS to work. Please help as it does not lock on. I checked the GPS config and see that it is set up for T-Mobile but I don't know which one I should use for my provider as the original Froyo did not have this option.
I also have troubles trying other ROMS as MIUI have seemed to lock me into theirs. Error when I try to load another ROM several times.
I'm also a newbie to the O2x,
I rooted and flashed cm7 then "[ROM] Rebuild of Leaked V20o Gingerbread Update" really easy!
come on guys read the threads in android development!
I am also newbie on O2X and quite new on mods and stuff.. my previous phone and my entry to the smartphones was a samsung galaxy mini..

Yeah, CM7.0.1 is pretty old now, and I think you should try a CM 7.2 KANG. Those are very stable too. If you wish you can always add some custom kernels too to increase the performance.

There are so many 2.3.4 official LG 2x rom on the internet, all start with "V20..".
Generally speaking, the letter at the end means the location.
v20d is one of Asian LG official 2.3.4 rom distribute in Taiwan, Hong Kong and Singapore.
I only know that the latest version now in Hong Kong is v20e.
I am sure you will google a list of LG 2x official rom if you want to.

[Q] CyanogenMod 7 vs Stock Android 2.1

Hello
I am relatively new to this forum but I have a question anyway. Which is better CyanogenMod 7 or the stock Android 2.1-Update1 on the X8 (E15i)?
Also what are the main differences between CM7 and stock Android 2.1 (e.g. is CM7 faster...)?
And finally can someone provide a link to the best CyanogenMod 7, by best I mean most stable and good features.
Thanks in advance.

Stock Android 2.1 is Eclair.
CM7 or Cyanogen 7 is Gingerbread i.e 2.3
The difference between Eclair and Gingerbread is HUGE !!
Many apps require Android 2.2+ like Voice Search etc , and CM7 serves the purpose.
Thanks to devs like doixanh & HAKA , we got excellent CM7 based ROMS which have functionalities like app2sd , custom animations , acceleration rotation settings , back button for ending calls , notification power widgets , center clock options , change the style of battery icon , signal display , render effects , screen-shots ,a variety of in-built screen-locks , boot animation disable , status bar slide brightness control , bottom status bar and lots more....
To be honest , if you need an absolutely bugless ROM , stay on stock.
If you don't care about the very very minor irrelevant bugs (which have no impact on the working of the phone) , then go for CM7
These are the two most famous Cyanogen 7 based ROMS -->
