Is there a good Kernel that can be used with CM7 besides the CM7 kernel?
did you even try looking in the development section? or searching?
Yes but everything is for CM6, I'm on 7.0, don't want to go back to 6.0 and can't a kernel to try because my camera does not work.
Did you try wildmonks kernel for cm7? wildmonks.iblogger.org is the site

I've searched and although I can find some CM7 kernels they aren't for the N1 specifically they all just list the Nexus S. Thanks namato for posting the link! if anyone has any others or even what they hell they searched for to find more CM7 kernels for N1 (and wouldn't mind posting the link) it would be appreciated. I'm hoping pershoot releases one for CM7 N1 soon!! ... I know he has one listed and it said NOT for RC0 ... wonder if he meant only RC0?

Where are you looking? Did it not occur to you that if you want a N1 kernel, maybe you should look in the N1 development section? They even say "Kernel" in the thread title (non of which even mention Nexus S).
Yes, I could hand you the link but it is literally right in front of your face.

Reviving old treat... basically kernels do not appear to be update and even the old ones have bad links/mirrors.
Any idea where i can get a good kernel to use with the latest CM7 nightly?
Hi guys,
I was wondering - There are a lot of builds of the Android 2.3.3 for other devices. When do you think we will see a Gingerbread rom for the LG ? Could some devs look into the 2.3.3 and see if specific things like Camera, Wifi, bluetooth etc could be directly implemented? I know work like this is going on for other devices..
Hey,
the dev team behind cyanogen mod 7 is working on a port for the LG optimus 2X. CyanogenMod 7 is an modified Rom from AOSP Gingerbread 2.3.3. In the next few week you can be sure that you will get a Gingerbread Rom.
Today i have read that LG will release an update to 2.3.3 this april. 2 Weeks after OTA 2.3.3 you will se some amazing stuff on like custom roms on 2.3.3....
Only be in patience dude ;-)
sry for my bad english :-(

Hehe, thanx - But..
Look at my signature m8 - I have a HTC Desire with Android 2.3.3 on it and i know of the changes - I wont have Android 2.3.3 on my device, just for the version - I want a rom that works
On the HTC Desire i recommend you MIUI 1.4.1 and CyanogenMod RC4. Both are very stable and based on 2.3.3.
Any chance to see the miui Rom on our LG?

This is good news! So the update will finally come to optimus x2. Is it possible to update the phone using ..say Paul's rom or do you have to revert the phone back to stock for update to work?

Some people just shouldnt be allowed to post in here, but hey, just ignore it.. I have been following the Android development since almost day one, and it seems that the devs on other roms/devices are a little more experienced in the coded stuff than the ones yet to play with the Optimus 2x(No offence to any1 i hope), but i would like to know what exact issues there are, related to modding the current 2.3.3 builds for the Optimus. If anyone knows ?

Yeah, I think drivers as well. Now that LG has released their p990 source as well it shouldn't be too long until the LG 2.2 drivers have been ported to 2.3... I hope.

I dont want to sound discouraging, but why does CM7 and MIUI Gingerbread ROM dont have any rainbow? cant we use CM7 Kernel(Kang's version)
coz Kernel is reason to rainbow I think.

1.It's because we don't have Gingerbread bootloaders.
2. CM7 kernels don't work
I'm confused why people are reposting the EDT ROM with basically nothing changed. Users can uninstall and install app themselves. Same goes for Kernels and Modems. None of the original bugs are solved really so I'm confused why this is the second such ROM out today.
I understand it's a great learning experience but from a user standpoint it does not contribute much. I would love when the dev uses the things he/she learned from this to make something.
PS: hayn_pryde46, this is not directed at you nor is this negative. I am very glad you decided to get into the dev game and hope you will become good at it. I'm just unsure your learning experience should be posted as a complete ROM.
why did you port this if it has like NO difference between mine? i mean seriously dude not cool.
Thank you for the previous two posts. I recently got a thread closed because I stated that the dev section is getting polluted with too many roms, which are all the same with minor changes. Im glad im not the only one

ALL he did was download my rom, and re-upload it with some more apps and a different modem/kernel. NOTHING MORE.
Yeah sorry most 98% files are new from xwjvb I just used the rom as base deleted all the files but their init.d tweaks added new build.prop and modem and kernel got mtp sync to work and maybe debugging and original music player remember reboot problems with whitehawks rom, in which he changed it to miui apk

Literally just came to post the exact thing. It seems to be a trend lately, to the point that it's getting ridiculous. The bugs that exist are pretty big, so how about we either work on those, or sit back and wait for other, more advanced devs to fix them before we start "porting" and call it our work.
I assume you don't have the ability to fix the existing bugs, so that alone should stop you when you go to open a thread for a new ROM that you know you don't have the ability to improve yourself.
I mean, then what? Someone is going to work really hard and eventually fix something, you're going to copy/paste it and call it an update? Just relax on these "ports" for now, they're not needed at this stage of 2.3.3 for the Vibrant.
so you DIDN'T tweak it as it says in your post. You give me NO credit even though you downloaded my rom (which has at least some BIG differences to whitehawks) and just replaced the files that determine the build number added a different kernel/modem and pass it off as your COMPLETE own work. Mine at least fixes some bugs his old rom had (battery drainage, made 3D gaming less sucky). Like cmon dude.

Hey, I was wondering if someone can turn the Droid X Keyboard from the leaked Droid X Gingerbread ROM into an installable APK that works with Gingerbread. I already tried multiple ways to install the APK's designed for 2.2 and 2.1 but none work on Gingerbread, so I decided to find the leak and take out the APK from that.
EDIT: The post at the bottom of the link below has a download that contains both the ODEX and the APK for the Native DroidX 2 keyboard

Alright sounds good I can't upload the APK and ODEX because they are too big, even when zipped, so the link below goes to a thread that has both those files in a download link at the bottom of the thread.

Exactly what I got. I'm not sure what's going on. I'll look at some logcats and see what I can find...
I really like the keyboard though. It's great on the DX. There's more button space on it, compared to the stock Gingerbread KB.

Hey guys, I have a question for you wise devs, it comes with a bit of a background story. Basically favorite ROM dropped support for my phone, now they only support the i9000, I have an i897. I am going to try to port. I want to be ready for a worst case scenario: say I screwed up the port, framework is incompatible, what would happen? Are the two phones similar enough that I could still get to download mode, or is a hard brick certain?
Fyi: I am using a guide from a trusted source i found here on xda, I can post link if you want thanks greatly appreciated

If u port something. Please port 4.1 jelly bean b5 gnex stock rom of elitemovil
Well if you didn't port it properly you might get some apps that will Force Close and that also your soft keys might not work properly etc....
Also there is not risk of getting hard brick.
P.S.: If you're porting a ROM, please port it for your self only!
