Motorola Droid (OG): How do I root and overclock? - Motorola Droid and Milestone Q&A, Help & Troublesh

I just bought a used OG droid as a backup phone. It's on stock 2.2. I've searched, but I'm not really sure how to root and overclock because the guides are old and not sure if they work for 2.2.

Here's how to root: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1278658
And to overclock simply use "Milestone Overclock" app from market.
More info on overclocking: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1278728

but I have a motorola droid, not the milestone. Would it be the same thing?

You can use superoneclick or z4 root (I believe) to root the Droid.

Z4root doesn't work.

[Q] How do you know when your phone's rooted?

Can I ask a stupid question? I've just used "Universal Androot" on my Milestone 2.1-update 1, and it SAYS it was successful and that it has been "rooted". I'm just wondering apart frm flashing a rom etc, how would I be sure that my phone is now rooted?
Download a "root only" app (i.e. setcpu, root explorer, wireless tether). If your phone asks for superuser permission, you're rooted!

Aight then, thanks for that, I'll try that now and report back.

I've downloaded and used the "Root Explorer" app, and it works and asked for permission to be used in the beginning. So if I wasn't "rooted" I wouldn't be able to use this app then?
Right. It allows you to change system files if you select r/w. You can't do that without root. Setcpu allows you to overclock your phone (make it faster). It's worth buying.

Aight then, well thanks you 2 innit, greatly appreciated but I think I'll jus' stay safe for now and keep it "unrooted". The main reason I wanted to "root" was for 2.2 Froyo, but thanks though.

Universal androot and titanium

keep getting an error when i try to run titanium saying that its not rooted
FYI: universal androot does not work on Froyo 2.2 build FRG22D.
It works on Froyo 2.2 build FRG01B and below.
This does not mean you cannot root. Just not with FRG22D.
Check your build.

Same Question, I just received the FRG22D update from my Droid 1 and found out that Universal Androot does not support the new build.
Any ideas when we will see an update that will support FRG22D?

But I used it and it said I was rooted. Does that mean it lied to me?

It didn't work. I have stock 2.2 id like 2.2 rooted with chevy ulow1.25 but I can't figure it out.
There is no way to root FRG22D (your likely build) without using RSD Lite to my knowledge.

[Q] How do I root my Android 5.1 Droid Turbo

I was interested in the ProtectedApps so I downloaded it, (along with all the other apps needed)
However, I need to get the Xposed Framework and it said that app requires root.
How do I root the phone?
I am a beginner in rooting
Start by searching in the Droid Turbo forum.
You don't.
There is currently no way to root the Turbo if it is running OTA 5.1
