Heimdall not recognizing Cappy on Ubuntu? - Captivate Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Dual booting between Windows as. Primary OS(not my choice, its my dads laptop) and Ubuntu as a secondary OS(really like it and want it as an only primary no windows.) 64 bit system. I have redownloaded the UCKH3 heimdall one click and with my cappy in DL mode it never sees, it always says device no connected.
Any help?

Is libusb 1-0 installed?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I897 using xda premium

I thought Ubuntu already had that installed to begin with. If not, later would you help me get them installed?
Sent from my I897 using xda premium

Sudo apt-get install libusb-1.0
Should work

ADB problems

I have been having problems with the ROM install on my girlfriends phone, so I was going to do an ODIN restore and then start over. Unfortunately, ODIN doesn't see the phone. I have installed the drivers, but when i try adb devices in the command prompt window, there is nothing listed. Its like the phone isn't there. Any advice?
What's the ROM on the phone?

What OS is on your computer ?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I897 using xda premium
Download mode can't be seen in adb. Also your computer will now see your phone as a nexus s. You need all the drivers from android sdk

[Q] Captivate stuck on i9000 bootloader.

Hello im in a bind here, i watched the noob video and made sure to do some extra searching but only found a couple of threads that were "similar" to my problem but none of the solutions applied...
I flashed the gamerzrom onto my captivate along with the i9000jvu. Problem is odin3 no longer recognizes my phone and and cant seem to flash back to stock... and the button combo doesnt really work either. I am no longer in gamerzrom i am in aokp jb build 5 trying to see if i can get around this. Yes my drivers are up to date ( i checked 4 times...)
Button combos are different for I9000: vol up + power for recovery, vol down + power or usb for download.

Did you tried to connect phone with computer and then use ADB to make phone boot on recovery?
Sent from my HTC Ruby
try this by CMD/Terminal
Install ADB
You must have USB Drivers installed for your device.
Enable USB Debugging on your device and plug it into your computer via USB cable.
Open CMD (windows) or Terminal (linux/mac). To open CMD, hold windows key, then press R, then type cmd.exe and press enter.
Type adb reboot download
hope this help you

I'm running win 8.1 in parallels. When I run the oneclickbin and odin starts, I don't get that "added" message. I know the phone is connected, because Kies works fine. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
I ran mine on Windows 7 make sure you install all the USB drivers. I had the same problem until I installed them and did a simple reboot and it showed it up.
