So I went to look check my phone, and it slipped from my hand, tried grabbing it, Felt like slow-mo, and just missed it, and watched it fall into the deep fat fryer, So I then had to watch it cook for 4 mins at 240°C.
Obviously turn of the fryer, and tried to dig out with tongs.
The interesting thing is it still works! Tad greasy, absolutly EVERYTHING work, Apart from the speak, So its now useless as a phone :/
Is the speaker user replaceable?
Pictures of a surprisingly undamaged phone considering what it went through.

well, that's a pretty interesting story, man.
do you mean the speaker is broken or the microphone? you'll probably be able to get it repaired by samsung assuming you have a warranty on it.
With respect, would you really trust a phone, even repaired that you DEEP FRIED for 4 minutes? Be lucky you can get your data off it and buy a new phone!

Do you really think so They'll see you coming from miles away. You caused the damage yourself, it's not like it's a design fault.
i mean what were u thinkin man..........just cant beleive it u actually fried ur phone..............4 mins in fryer , u might as well eat it like a gingerbread dessert or something

Hmmm deep fried Gingerbread...lol
In all honesty, funkyblue is right. Get what data/contacts you can (if not backed up to google) and get yourself a new phone. If your headset port isn't caked up with grease then maybe you can use it as a glorified MP3/music player.
How on earth did the battery not die?
Forget the speaker, I think the main thing we are all curious about is...do you eat a deep fried SGS with ketchup, or malt vinegar?
Post the pics
BAHAHAHAHA (sorry!), this is the funniest title since someone deep froze their sgs (iirc).
But as to your question, I wouldn't be surprised if the speaker is replacable, iirc its a modular component!
EDIT: wait, was it 454 or 240 degrees? Big difference
or you can keep it and use phone with bluetooth headset???
Pictures have now been added, Sorry for the delay!
The speaker is now working albeit very quietly, There is this greasy ring inside the camera when taking a picture, Guessing oil is trapped in there.

May I respectfully suggest that coating the phone in batter next time will offer a degree of protection, and add immeasurably to the taste and texture!

as the title suggested, does it actually work though?
i have heard a lot of successful stories from the net. does it reallly worth trying?
(since i need a gfx card and my only one is kinda like broken and buying a new one is outta my budget...)
if so , how does it work cause im curious
no harm for asking a question though... right?
thanks fellow xda techies in advance
It sometimes fixes it, only if the solder between the chip and the pcb is cracked. That happens to xboxs all the time, and you can fix them using a similar method (usually). I've never had it happen to my ati, 3dfx or matrox cards, but happened to the one nvidia i've ever owned. Although to be fail the nvidia worked 5 years no problem. Give it a try, it should work, and be careful
wow thats amazing... thanks
it will work ive done it to a 360 as a last try to fix from e74 and to my surprize it worked lol but its a risk just make sure to take the heat sink off and cover any thing that you dont wanted cooked on it get some heat tape and foil and google xbox 360/oven fix to get the idea of what todo
tried it yesterday....
I was completely suprized that it actually worked, saving a broken down gfx card so I can play BC2 again lol
but for some reason i noticed there are some dried up chemicals on the chip after baking...dunno
anyway thanks ppl

Yes it does work i fixed the gpu on my laptop with a heatgun and a roll of tinfoil still workin a year later. There are company's which do professional reflow i've sent a few laptops herehttp://forum.thinkpads.com/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=73945
That powder is Thermal Paste. It keeps your Gpu chip cool since it is powdered now. you have to buy a thermal Paste tube and apply on that chip on heat sink.
well I made my own thermal Paste Toothpase+vesline+telc Powder mixed together = Themal paste
Just seen an app on the market called Swimmer's Log. That seems to be two things that wouldn't mix, swimming and owning a phone with a moisture damage indicator. I don't know how many of the Android phones currently in use have this but I do know mine does. I think insurance covers it but im not sure.

I've suffered with back pain since high school and it has gotten worse and worse. I have been on pain medication and other medicines which have little effect. It's to the point I can't run, jump or play with my kids like I want and hurts to even walk some days.
I go tomorrow to my neurosurgeon to schedule surgery and I'm a little scared. He of course recommends it and says it will make it much better, but I hear people say I'm crazy to have back surgery because it will make it worse, even a family doctor said this. I'm only 34 and don't want to screw it up worse.
So, have any of you had back surgery and if so what was your results? Was it better or worse?
I'm definitely worried so I want to hear from someone who has had it. Thanks in advance

They are putting some titanium in between my lowest disk. It has pretty much collapsed and is pressing the nerves causing the pain so he has to open that space back up

Have you tried cannabis for pain relief ?,
Do you live some where that has a mmp
my dad had back surgery like 7 or 8 years ago and is still able to play soccer a bunch and stuff. he couldn't be happier with it (i think). sounds similar to the procedure you've been reccomended.
The reason why people advise against it is because of the possibility of something happening. If something goes wrong, you can end up paralyzed. Something like this though is rare. Don't worry, the surgery will do you more good than harm.
If anything, ask the neurosurgeon about intra-operative monitoring. The monitoring helps by clarifying anatomical structures that have been distorted by degenerative disease, congenital anomalies, revision surgery, tumor and some other things.
I remember reading this somewhere too, if you want I can look for the article.
I haven't had back surgery, but medical sciences have evolved. I wouldn't worry too much about it. If anything, make sure you have a professional do it... Lol, but of course you have one! Don't worry
If anything, request the success rate of the said procedure, and any possible consequences. Ask him/her how many surgeries have they done that were like that, and if they were successful.
My father had back surgery back when he was 36 or so. He had a disc problem and said that after the surgery the pain had subsided substantially.

My gf has had most of her lower back fused together and while it does lessen it the pain it has not removed it as well as has removed alot of flexibility in her back. She still can't stand or sit for long periods of time. No running or jumping and playing still but at least she is not in bed due to the pain all the time.
When it comes down to it. You have to decide on the lesser of two evils.
I hope it helps you more then it hepled her.
Well i went today and had the rest of the tests run. I have decided to go ahead and do the surgery. He stated my specific surgery has 85% success rate. I'm still nervous though. Pray for me ;-)

Not rooted or anything...
It belongs to my 9 year old son, and when we make a call with the phone,
And place it to the ear, the screen goes black and sound disapears!
We can only make calls with speaker on...
Anyone got the magic trick?
I have tried a factory reset, but no dice!
The screen goes black due to the proximity sensor and is normal behavior.
As for your volume issue check your in call volume level.
As for your 9 year old having a smartphone I'm going to say ground zero zombie infection.

THe vibration Device Is like A little motor With A too big case (badly explained) and That gets power And shakes wildly To make The phone vibrate. I Think its that
Almost every newer phone has that problem, some say its because of the autofocus on the camera, other say its the result of a too big external sd card slot...
Fact is, that it's no problem for the performance of a phone, but just a small cosmetic fault...
If you look in other threads of different devices, you will see many of these posts, so just don't think about it.
