Help!! can not delete/add/format internal storage
I recently rooted my bionic with success (using pete's toolkit) I downloaded TBU and probably deleted/freeze things i should not have deleted/freeze (did not read up on bloatware) so now im stuck...
My phone boots up fine, it can install/uninstall apps and run apps BUT only for the duration until I reboot my phone. Everytime I reboot, all apps that were newly installed are gone including updates, while all uninstalled apps would restore. For example I would uninstall wireless tether, it would then disappear until I reboot the phone in which it auto restores.
I initially tried to unroot my phone by using Pete's tool again, I can successfully unroot the phone by pulling out the usb cable b4 it does the last reboot, but the problem is still there. Once I reboot...same apps come back, including my phone being rooted (checked with root apps).
I figured that to solve any problem I should try using RSDLite method to flash back my stock firmware and at the same time unroot my phone. The program would tell me i succeeded in doing so, yet the problem was not gone. SAME APPS, SAME SETTINGS, STILL ROOTED.
Out of frustration I looked into my internal storage figuring , if I could manually install apps here then they won't disappear.
Here comes the problem.
I connected my phone to the PC (using mass storage) opened up my internal storage drive. there was already some stuff (the apps that keep restoring eg.bootstrap). I tried deleting bootstrap.apk, but once I disconnect my phone, the change would not occur (checked through astro file manager) bootstrap.apk would magically appear again. I tried moving things into the internal storage, and when I disconnect, it would magically disappear.
So i thought I would bring things up another level....I formatted both the internal and the external storage.....both on the computer, and when the phone is by itself.
Even after performing facotry reset, wiped out cache and stuff.....the original files would reappear after disconnecting from computer/rebooting.
can some one help pls? I dont know whats going on or was there something I missed.....
Sounds like your SBF was unsuccessful. SBF should restore everything to stock, even if you were to mess up the internal partioning, or deleted some crtical files you should be fine. I would make sure you have everything installed correctly, that you're using the correct SBF etc. Did you also install the USB drivers from moto?
I installed the Moto end user driver 5.20, I tried with both the fxz minimal and the full version. both are "successful" as stated by program, but not so after reboot.

I recently updated my cappy from Phoenix rising to Continuum following all instructions in the first couple posts except for flashing back to stock. "Including enabling lagfix"
Everything seemed to be running perfect. Rebooted a couple times to see how it behaved, plugged it in and turned in for the night. Seemed to be fine in the morning while I surfed the web, played games, etc. I ended up losing data service (a constant problem I get with custom ROMs that I've never been able to shake) so I rebooted, which normally solves the problem.
Instead, this time appears that all the apps installed in the internal SD card are missing... Weird but whatever. Titanium time and troubleshoot after school. Well, titanium says that there's no backups. Slight panic. Then I think about all my 3 stars from the angry bird series... MAJOR PANIC!
I can access my phone just fine via root explorer but my TiBU folder is empty, I have no games on my SD cards but a lot of other stuff is there including my dropbox and download folders as well as my ROM .zips. It's almost as if random stuff was removed.
Reboot into recovery to fix permissions and delete caches, etc. While I there I checked my backups (Nandroid?) and my lastest one (the one I did prior to flashing) was missing! Even more panicked!
Checked my phone... No luck. So I think that maybe I'll try some sort of undelete program when I get home. Plug the phone into compy and the mount cards options doesn't appear... Reboot to recovery and reflash ROM. No luck. Try to update back to TiBU pro and I notice a new problem. I can't install anything from the market, they just don't download. Tried to install .apks I have stored locally, no luck.
At this point I just want a working phone, screw dem birds, I can always redo all the levels and put music back on. Goto reformat SD cards. The format external is greyed out. Trying to reformat the internal one goes through the motions but there's no update in the available storage.
Flash to Firefly since I had a copy of it on the internal SD. Same issues listed above but with a pretty new interface.
So... Anyone have a suggestion aside from go back in time and buy titanium media sync or for me to suck less? I'm pretty much out of ideas
my first captivate was deleting files on the internal sd (mostly my music folder), returned for exchange. no problems since. hardware issues are fixed by the hardware manufactures!
And if you have other problems NO MATTER what rom you use, then its probably not the rom...
Oops! Sorry, I meant to stress that in the original post: I by no means hold any ROM responsible for the shenanigans my phone is currently experiencing, I originally omitted mentioning any names but decided to include them so I could be as explicit as possible in describing the issues and the steps I took.
Update 1: Attempted Odin3.
Since I'm apparently mentally handicapped, I clicked on "Master clear" instead of "Start". Yellow android guy has been digging a hole on my phone's screen for the last 10-15 minutes with no change.
Don't think that it's suppose to take this long and worried that whatever the SD card issue is may be affecting the master clear but currently too scared to unplug the phone.
Currently chain smoking nervously
----
Update 2: Revenge of the unborking
Unplugged phone and removed battery since master clear was clearly not working
Powered it back up and Odin -> Flash to stock
Stock working but unable to load SD cards
Rebooted a couple times -> problem solved
Mounted SD as USB card
Recurva -> Recovered TiBU folder.
Rooted phone
Reinstalled Clockwork mod
Reflashed Firefly
Installing stuff from the market is still a bit wonky with a custom ROM which is odd since I could install stuff with a stock rom but at least things are progressing
That's cool you got your stuff back. Now make a copy of it on your computer!! Now its just a call to att to get it replaced cause it's a hardware issue for sure.
Oh I'm sure you figured this out but master clear doesn't do anything in download mode, that works when the phone is actually booted.
master clear works booted with debugging on!
Yep, looks like installing stuff from either the market or from the SD card is hit or miss depending on time of day, prevailing winds, or the phase of the moon. Got some stuff installed but now nothing will go on the phone.
Going to complain to Samsung directly to see where what that gets me. Bought the phone used after my last android bit the dust while I was still on contract. Ended up getting a cappy since you could unlock it manually and was unaware that you were stuck on edge service. Wish me luck!

I think that I may have borked up my phone when doing this. I used the onix recovery to set everything back to rfs to no avail. I am still unable to install any apps or format the SD cards. Any advice? Currently on hold with Samsung support but apparently I am having a hard time convincing them that Hawaii is part of the United States and that we do in fact have UPS on this island.
So, after MONTHS of trying to fix my red 600 dollar paperweight, I feel it is time to give up and make a post here. I have tried everything from using RUUs, factory resets, restoring from backups, ADB sideloads, etc. and have had absolutely zero success. So here's the story!
A couple months ago, I installed MultiROM on my HTC One M7WLS in an attempt to get Ubuntu Touch to work on it. The install of MultiROM went smoothly and after a reboot, my phone was working normal. Naturally, once my phone was reconfigured I created a backup in the MultiROM TWRP (v2.8.0) to ensure I didn't lose my current state (or so I thought). After the install, I went to install a secondary rom on the phone on another partition. After the second ROM installation completed, I rebooted my phone, only to be stuck in a boot loop. From here, I went to recovery once again and deleted the new partition, and restored my previous one when I had it working. After this is when everything started going bonkers. Upon rebooting my phone, I discovered I no longer had a working radio (it completely disappeared; nothing even shows in settings for Baseband version) and I no longer had internal storage!!! I can access my phone's internal storage through File Manager, but I am unable to install apps, take pictures, or even watch videos on Facebook because it tells me I do not have internal storage, and that I need to insert an SD card. I have tried several things in an attempt to get my phone back to working condition, but I am still stuck with a copy of Cyanogenmod with no radio or internal storage.
Honestly, I have no clue what to do from here so I hope someone has insight on how to do this. I have tried uninstalling the MultiROM addon, but it does not allow me to since I can't put the ZIP file on my phone, or sideload it in since ADB says there is no phone connected. ANY AND EVERY BIT OF INPUT IS APPRECIATED!
So today I managed to restore my recovery to vanilla TWRP 2.8.1.0, and also managed to flash a ROM to the device. Sadly, in the OS I still have no internal storage or baseband, and I have not been able to find ANYWHERE how to restore JUST the baseband for this phone. Also, I have not been able to find how to fix the problems I am having with the internal storage. Once again, any and all input is appreciated

Go into TWRP and choose wipe / Format Data / type yes
when it's done you will have a blank device but the sdcard should be back.
get adb working on your phone with post 2 / faq 2 here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2541082
when you get adb devices to work from TWRP
go to advanced / sideload
then on your pc - adb sideload rom.zip
be sure the rom is in the same folder as adb
If you still have problems here's the Sprint RUU

I just have a quick question. I have a Samsung Galaxy Exhibit T599n and running Beanstalk 4.4+ rom. I am having a few issues with the rom after a few month, such as random reboots, issues with PC connection (Phone only runs in Charge only mode, and phone does not pop up the option to use charge only, camera, or media mass storage modes when I connect to PC) and also no longer connects to Kies.
My question is, if I re-flash the SAME version of the rom that I have installed (I have the most recent version) over the current version I have installed, will I lose my apps and settings? Just want to know what to prepare for if I reflash. Should I do that and get to keep my apps and settings? Or is a factory reset necessary to fix my errors?
Do a factory reset that should do it .. if not it might be hardware problem.
EDIT: You can use Titanium Backup if you have root acess to backup all your apps.

Excellent, thank you.
One other question, I had a problem with this last time I did a factory reset. I have my SD card partitioned to install my apps on there (Phone only came with 1GB internal, and would only hold a couple apps) so my SD card is 32GB, with 8GB partitioned to install my apps on. I remember having trouble with them last time I tried to flash a new rom and ended up having to reinstall Beanstalk from scratch and completely wipe the app partition as well.
Ok soo if i understood , you rom that you gona flash on your 32 gb sd card and flash from that also you can get app link2sd i think its called which let you transfer apps to sd card, correct me if i am wrong.
Code:
I already have it set up that way. I have the rom installed, I have the 2nd partition on my SD card, and have the apps linked to it with Link2SD. But, I last time I tried backing up roms that were installed on that partition, I have a bounty of issues. When I went to reinstall the apps, the files were still on that 2nd partition, there were dormant files left over everywhere, so when I'd try to restore the apps from backup, I got a plethora of errors and the rom began crashing. Just wondering if there's any way to backup and use roms that are installed on that 2nd partition using Link2SD?

I see, well since you have only 1 gb of internal storage for use i dont think i can help you with that.. because backup itself take a lot of space and not sure if you can make it to backup on your 2nd partition.
Or you can try transfer your backup files to your PC/laptop and delete everything then ty doing it and transfer back to phone after.
First of all, sorry for the bit of a text wall below, but if you could bare with me, I really need help and would greatly appreciate any comments that could be of help. Thank you.
So I was looking at a thread on how to do something so I changed two lines on build.prop. I made a back up of the original build.prop file. So my phone was able to start up but everything was invisible and couldn't do anything other than use my notification shade and respond to messages. I ended up turning on emergency mode then I turned it off right after and that fixed it. I guess I messed up when I copy and pasted the original build.prop and replaced it with the one that made my phone mess up in the first place. This messed it up my phone even more and now it's in a bootloop. I can only go into ODIN download mode and recovery. I tried clearing system cache but that didn't help at all. The first time my phone messed up it showed up as a drive on a few different computers that I used, but once the bootloop started it won't be recognized as a drive on any of the three computers I tried. It shows up as "Gadget Serial" when in download mode and when it's powered off it shows as SAMSUNG_Android. I have installed the Samsung phone drivers on two of the computers but that didn't help either.
When it shows up as SAMSUNG_Android it shows that MTP USB Device didn't install properly. I was thinking maybe that's what is causing the problem? I am using the original usb cable that came with the phone. Odin recognizes it so I could always restore it with a ROM, but I need to backup my photos (to my fault, I haven't done a backup in awhile) before I restore it to a fresh ROM. No android file explorers show it either, or a root explorer like Droid Explorer. I've also tried to connect it to a mac (third computer) but that doesn't show up either.
Some person suggested to me to restore with a ROM that saves data, but to no avail, I couldn't find one (anybody know of any?)
I was also reading about using the wipe data/factory reset, but I couldn't get a straight answer if it deletes or keeps the data in the SD Card section on the internal storage (does anybody know?)
So I feel like I might be screwed and may lose my photos and other data. If I could connect my phone to my computer properly, I might be able to edit build.prop again to fix the problem. If I can't connect it to my computer ever, is there any other way I could back up my photos or other data? I have a OTG cable if that helps at all.
Some additional info: I'm on a stock ROM, stock kernal, and rooted. And yes I had R/W on when editing build.prop.
So any ideas guys, I really need to get my phone up and running again.
Thanks in advanced.
Just reflash the stock ROM through ODIN.

That won't delete my data (i.e. my photos and and other files on sd card portion)?

i dont have an answer to that question, but whats more important - fixing ur phone or keeping ur now-unaccessable-anyway files?
i THINK replacing a rom does not delete ur data, but i highly recommend waiting for someone else to chime in as I am completely unsure and just going off what i think i've read before.
take this as a lesson, any time you are going to play with system files (be it in a phone or computer), backup anything you care about, and be prepared to lose what you dont.
Flashing rom doest wipe the data in the external sd card but it do wipe the internal storage i recommend flashing a rom after taking out your sd card

considering this is the S6 forum, its safe to assume hes talking about an S6, which means its safe to assume he cant do that.
At first, I used this: https://forum.xda-developers.com/lg...k-partition-table-tool-lg-l90really-t2946323/ and it worked. But now, when I make a backup, use it, and restore the backup, I don't get the extra storage anymore. I event went as far as flashing the KDZ files, re-rooting, re-flashing TWRP and ROM to try to fix it, but it didn't solve anything. I even tried using Link2SD as an alternative, but somehow I still filled 89% of my internal data only having 15 apps, which together use less than 100MB, and system apps on the phone itself. Google Play already started to not let me install nor update apps because of low storage.
