XDAndroid 2.2.2 Build FRX07
Kernel: Duckly's turbo kernel with keypad drivers not as modules (25-03-2010)
How to:
1. First, get "FRX07.1_Full_Bundle_20110901.zip" from XDAndroid website.
2. Add and replace the next files to the root XDAndroid bundle: "modules-2.6.27.46.tar.gz", "zImage", "haret.exe", "STARTUP.TXT" and "ts-calibration".
3. Install the new bundle following the instructions.
Instructions:
* Format the SD card in FAT32 with a 32kb cluster size.
* Unzip the .zip file using WinRAR or 7zip.
* Then you will get a bunch of files.
* Copy all the files in the root of the memory card.
* Don't copy them in a folder just in the root otherwise android will not work.
* Run "haret.exe" from the File Explorer. Be patient, wait till xdandroid rom is fully installed.
* Turn off and run "haret.exe" again so it will be fast & stable. (If you have the dual boot installed "haret.exe" runs automatically. See lines below).
Working:
* WiFi. You can turn off and turn on without problems
* Overclocked to 652MHz
* Graphics [24.5 FPS]
* GPS
* Market
* 3G Network
* Phone Speaker (If you get problems turn speaker on and off)
* 3D Acceleration
* Bluetooth
* Awesome Battery Life
* Battery Indicator (Very Accurate)
* Smooth Animations
* Browser
* Gmail
* Backlight Control
DualBoot from Windows Mobile:
1. First find "Gen.Y DualBOOT v1.0.6.0-CAB.zip" from: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=623792
2. After extract "Gen.Y DualBOOT WVGA v1.0.6.0-Storage Card.cab" into your SD card, you have to install it to \Storage Card, not \Windows.
3. After install it from windows mobile, you have to edit your registry using "Total Commander". The registry location is at [\\\Plugin\Registry\HKCU\Software\Gen.Y\DualBOOT]
4. Find a registry named "AndroidBootFolder", click it and check whether the content is blank. I've left a list describing what the keys are for:
* "AndroidBootFolder"="string" ("": boot from root of storage (e.g. \Storage Card\haret.exe)| "andboot": boot from \Storage Card\Andboot\haret.exe, string can be edited in registry)
* "AutoBootAndroid"=dword:1 (1: boot Android | 0: boot Windows)
* "AutoBootEnabled"=dword:1 (1: enable autoboot | 0: disable autoboot)
* "FastBootEnabled"=dword:0 (1: enable fastboot | 0: disable fastboot)
* "StorageBootMode"=dword:0 (1: boot from Storage Card (SDMemory) | 0: boot from Internal Storage (moviNAND))
Wifi-Tether 3.1 Beta 6:
1. Install "wifi_tether_v3_1-beta6.apk".
2. Launch the app.
3. Go to "settings".
4. Then go to "Change Device-Profile" and choose HTC Desire (GSM) and start tethering.
5. Without stop tethering go again to "settings>Change Device-Profile>" and choose HTC Dream.
6. Now stop tethering and start again.
Note:
I'm not either developer or programmer. All merit goes to XDA folks.

Awesome if you use Duckly's Kernel. If you use XDAndroid kernel very bad.
If you are going to use this rom for tethering, do it always charging the battery.
Best.

Well, you can use Turbo or Monster kernels with keypad drivers not as modules. The one I'm using is the turbo (25-03-2011).
but i have Sleep Of Death problem. Do you have the same problem?

SOD is because of the kernel, it is supposed the turbo kernel avoid SOD, but sometimes don't. Try with the monster kernel. I prefer the turbo one but monster solve the problem. Try to set the overclock around 600mhz.
As well, if you don't use either wifi or BT you can try with the XDAndroid kernel included in the bundle.
however, I only use wifi .
I'll try the monster kernel if i get SOD again.
thanks for your help.
Speed is awesome, battery life is already better than the previous builds I've used, but still cannot last longer than 4hrs with Wifi / 3G on.

Try SenseDroid v7, is a great rom as well. Please compare the battery life between both rom and post again with the result.
I cant get it working in dynamics 2.4 rom...
it gets stuck in the loading screen with the latest word: busy
i formatted it in fat 32 but not 32kb max is only 16 kb
and I followed all instuctions...
what can I do?

Wi-fi sucks a lot of battery(my battery lasts 2h with wi-fi,but on my diamond lasted 12-14h without it) ,if you want to do a battery life test,don't use wi-fi at all

I've not compared this FAT32 rom with others because I use my xperia as a wifi-tether router and I always use the charging cable. And with the Faryaab FAT32 rom is not possible use wifi-tether. So I can compare.
From your point of view, which is the best rom and kernel for using wifi?

This kernel is based on the latest TheAceKernel http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1606352 from skynet28. Big thanks to him.
FEATURES:
- most of TheAceKernel features
- battery driver made by LibiSC
- some improvements in idle support for ARM
- overlocked AHB clock at 800,768,729Mhz (improved graphic performance I think)
- some changes in net stack
- improved jhash
- patched lowmemorykiller from zImage-Mod (but it is still compatible witch memory tweaks scripts)
- kernel compression changed to XZ
- default governor is smartassV2 and removed lulzactive (doesn't works for me and made errors in dmesg)
- small changes in smartassV2
- partly disable vsync (I hope)
Hope that's all, my memory isn't good.

FAQ:
- For ROM developers, if you need the boot.img run form adb:
Code:
adb pull /tmp/boot.img
Or use qtadb, this is only way to get boot.img, and don't ask my for this on PM!
Changelog:
- update kgsl driver from teamhacksung
- update some arch specific files from teamhacksung too
- some other patches from teamhacksung (sensors, dram etc.).
29.05.2012
- screen of profile in the kernel, now when you turn of you screen you max cpu clock will by set to 320Mhz and min to 120Mhz! And when you turn it up it goes back to old clock! No need to use SetCPU screen of profile! Kernel based screen of profile is much faster and doesn't lag! Note: if you get lagy music when screen of that means you have to heavy EQ, disable it or use http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1653140 works good without lag if you don't use REV or VR. Works witch any govenor
- small changes in smartassV2
Note about the update - I don't know why, but for my something sets after boot always ondemand as governor, I tried to add script to set smartassV2 as default but this doesn't work (strange), but you can easy set witch for example SetCPU/No-frills CPU Control.
31.05.2012
- create version for official CM
- update Samsung internal storage drivers and wifi driver
- new locale version
- clean up init scripts in ramdisk
- ondemand on boot bug should be fixed
4.06.2012
- finally disable vsync
- adjustable screen off profile, you can write a simple script to adjust the profile like this:
Code:
#!/system/bin/sh
echo "122880" > /sys/module/cpufreq/parameters/min_screenoff_frequency
echo "245760" > /sys/module/cpufreq/parameters/max_screenoff_frequency
Put into /system/etc/init.d/ and set permission, you can name it for example s99screenoff, you turn of the profile by writing this script:
Code:
#!/system/bin/sh
echo "0" > /sys/module/cpufreq/parameters/screenoff
- updates in zlib, vmalloc and kgsl
- update LibiSC battery driver
07.06.12

Hi dragonn!!
I'm really happy to see that you're making your own kernel! I'll install it right away!
Just 2 questions, can i use it with last CM7 RC3 with everything working (especially the proximity sensor)? and is it updated (CL882825)?
Thank you man!

Great news, wonderful to see you carry on the great work of ketut, an0nym0us and skynet28 — this evolving Ace kernel is really a perfect example of how great open-source really is!!!
Nice name too! :cheers:
will my ace burn up in ashes ?

I meant that in last kolja's build, the kernel is this one: 2.6.35.7-perf-CL882825. Other builds had a lower CL number (I can't remember which one) and it seems that this newer kernel is faster and less battery hungry.
So I just asked if you based your kernel in this last one or in the older ones (like ketut's I think).
Thank you very much! I'll test it ASAP!

EDIT
I search kolja's github but the sources have CL2X, and the latest update is 10 months ago :?.

nice..
finally u compiled your own kernel.
btw the CL882825 and CL562111 is just kernel localversion, those numbers doesnt mean one is newer than another. samsung tends to replace kernel localversion for every gb rom updates, but it probably uses the same source.

It does make sense so i'll flash last vo-1's build to be able to enjoy your kernel!
Just one last question: I see that there are no files inside lib/modules in your kernel so, do I have to install TheAceKernel first (it has those files) and then yours?
Thank you very much again!

The original 3.0 custom kernel for the Incredible S
Disclaimer: Please read before continuing
This is a 3.0.x kernel, which means it is for ICS ROM's only.
You use this kernel and it's available settings at your own risk. I accept no responsibility for your phone, or anything that happens to it while using the feature. Although it has the ability to overclock to 2.0GHz, this may shorten the life of your device.

The aim of this kernel is to be the most feature rich kernel available for the Incredible S. The kernel is the engine of your phone, and I want to include support for everything! If there is something you need and it isn't here, let me know and I will do my best to add it. XDA is a community, and lots of the work in this kernel has been discovered / and created by a wide range of people, all of whom this would not be possible. It is pretty impossible to name all of the people to thank, but know this is the result of a whole community, and my gratitude goes out to everyone who has contributed to this site!

Instructions for S-OFF Users
Simply flash XS-ICSvX.X.zip in your favourite recovery!
Instructions for manual flashing (HTCDev.com unlocked S-ON Users)
Thanks to MrToastbrot for instructions
Step 1: Download the XS-Kernel.zip, then open the Zip on your computer and extract the file mkbootimg.sh in "kernel"
Step 2: Open mkbootimg.sh in a texteditor like notepad++ or notepad, then edit the following in line 3:
Code:
output /tmp/newboot.img
to
Code:
output /sdcard/newboot.img
Step 3: Save your edited file and place it back in your zip, copy your modified zip to your phone-sdcard and install it in the recovery. Then reboot your phone and connect it to pc and take the newboot.img from the root of the sdcard.
Step 4: Now reboot your phone into bootloader and flash it via fastboot flash boot newboot.img
Step 5: Once you phone has booted, mount the system as r/w using something like ES file explorer or Root explorer, then type the following:
Code:
adb push bcm4329.ko /system/lib/modules
Set permissions to rw-r--r--, reboot and enjoy!
Sweep2Wake: Q&A
Q: How do I disable / enable the feature?
A: Two options
Change the value in the file /sys/android_touch/sweep2wake to either 0 for disabled, 1 for enabled and 2 for enabled with backlight. This will be reset upon rebooting.
If your ROM supports init.d scripts, then flash the zip to enable or disable, this will stick over a reboot.
Q: It keeps taking screenshots when I lock the screen!?
A: This is due to an incompatibility with this feature and the native screenshot in Sense. TO stop the screen shots, you need to edit your build.prop and change the property ro.htc.framework.screencapture to false, and then reboot.

I'm using the miui v4 with nik's kernel and that function already work!
I'm wrong assuming it's already coded?
BTW good work!
Nice post, fast work. I'll have a play first chance I get. Thank you.
Nice. Downloading right now. Making a backup right now since I was thinking of flashing this new Google Now ZIP as well.
Also does this mean we can get CWM 6.0+? IIRC, one of the requisites for it was a ICS kernel to be able to compile it. Correct me if I'm wrong.
Which ROMs is it support?
MIUI will work whit this kernel?
Sent from my Incredible S using xda app-developers app
I have an S-OFF Vivo, so how do I flash this? Do I just install the zip from CWM?
I'm currently on IceColdSandwich, so what's the difference between the kernel used in that and this kernel?
Forgive my noobness but how is the file size only 100kb?
I have only test on MIUI v4, but it should work with any ROM, I would like some feedback if there are any ROM's it doesn't work with.
There is now a flashable zip on the first post, I made a proper schoolboy error when I first uploaded it, that is now fixed

This is just a new kernel, that is why it is so small.
Did you read the OP and the second post? The instructions can be found there.

There is now a proper zip you can flash, check the second post for instructions.
The kernel in Ice Cold Sandwich is a Gingerbread kernel (2.6.x) which was modified to work with ICS (rather awesomely by Kaijura I might add). This kernel is built from the latest 3.0 sources.
Oh sweet! How did you manage to do it so fast?
One last question, none of my data will be lost right?

Mobile data works fine for me, again shouldn't be affected by the kernel. I know MIUI has some issue with data anyway, check the thread in general to see how to fix that, but if that doesn't work, let me know.

Different chips are more resiliant. I used to have one that could sustain 1.8GHz with no problem, but I sent it for repair as the screen got smashed, they sent a replacement and this one can't go over 1.5GHz without crashing instantly, the option is there for anyone who wants it though.
IceColdSandwich 8.3: looks good, only broke camera and rotate buttons, but I expected it
Edit: doesn't work gps and bluetooth, IceColdSandwich either has a lot of hacks, or would need it
Working fine here. Now to see how high of a OC I'm willing to work with hehe.
Kowalski Kernel for CM10/ CM10.1 - Stable release (SU660)
This kernel supports the old bootloader only, modified to Optimus 2x su660 so I made this post to update users from the kernel by kowalski. I personally tried the kernels myself and I can assure you it's 101% working. I tried hard testing different kernels and I found this working great. Note: Kernel Kowalski still in the process of updating so, we are hoping for new updates soon.
I do not credit myself for this marvel work.

* In Kowalski Manager you can change the power management settings of the wireless card:
- PSP Power Saving Mode ---> your wifi card will use Max PSP when asleep. The kernel default is to sleep in Fast PSP mode.
- Awake Power Management ---> your wifi card will use Fast PSP when awake if enabled, otherwise will use CAM mode.
- Hotspot Power Management ---> when enabling hotspot mode, your wifi card will use Fast PSP if enabled, otherwise the default is to use CAM mode.
CAM (Constantly Awake Mode)
Keeps the client adapter powered up continuously so there is little lag in message response time.
Consumes the most power but offers the highest throughput. Is recommended for desktop computers and devices that use AC power.
Fast PSP (Power Save Mode)
Switches between PSP mode and CAM mode, depending on network traffic. This mode switches to CAM when retrieving a large number of packets and switches back to PSP after the packets have been retrieved.
Is recommended when power consumption is a concern but you need greater throughput than that allowed by Max PSP.
Max PSP (Max Power Savings)
Causes the access point to buffer incoming messages for the client adapter, which wakes up periodically and polls the access point to see if any buffered messages are waiting for it. The adapter can request each message and then go back to sleep.
Conserves the most power but offers the lowest throughput. Is recommended for devices for which power consumption is the ultimate concern (such as small battery-powered devices).
Source will be pushed to my github about 2 or 3 days after a release, to make sure that no major bugs are introduced in the public repository.
This kernel can be compiled with any gcc 4.6.X that supports graphite loop optimizations, so if you want to compile it by yourself you'll have either to build your own toolchain (for example using crosstool-ng), or use one of the many linux prebuilt ones (for example Linaro or CodeSourcery). Make sure they're 4.6.X. Earlier versions may complain a lot and generate and unstable kernel. Please test it thoroughly before releasing it with your rom.

Old bootloader kernel? Most freezes came up with regarding to voltages settings or either the governors and I/O, try playing with different settings and find out what's works best for you. I haven't any encountered such freezes at the moment.

Wake gestures seem to work properly.
But internal µSD (64G exFAT) and USB OTG (USB key 16G FAT32) not work.
Not bad for a first release
Works flawlessly especially d2w and s2w.thanks Matrix to bring bs alive. Appreciated.

That's most likely because the 4.10 series of the stock ROM uses a 3.4.10-g6650ca5 kernel while the 3.4.10-gd597c14 used as a base for this kernel is from the previous, 3.06 series, i.e. Android 4.4.2, Sense 5.5. And the functionality (exFAT, OTG) requires loadable modules which will only work with the matching version of the kernel.
A possible solution would be if @Matri}{ modified the config and made all drivers builtin instead of modules, but I'm not sure this is possible. (For instance, I'm not sure the texfat driver is open-source… It doesn't appear to be present in the source tree.) Maybe some extra scripting with the initramdisk and bundling the binary modules there might be possible, but I've never done this with Android.
Other than that, we can only wait until HTC releases the sources for the 3.4.10-g6650ca5 version of the kernel.
thank you for your explanations.
It only remains to wait for the kernel sources for Wake on Gesture.
Or wait for the next Butterfly

Do you nandroid backup before flash the kernel, if yes you can restore back the rom.
If not you need to reflash your current rom without wipe anything.

Or just take the boot.img from the matching OTA package (from here, for example) and use fastboot to flash it.
@Matri}{
To use internal μSD is already a good thing. OTG is less useful in this case.
Just a thought: would it be possible to bundle all loadable modules in the initramfs and then get a custom script to execute at startup, which would mount a tmpfs over /system/lib/modules and copy all bundled .ko files in there? If the script was executed sufficiently early on, I believe it should solve the issues. (I don't have the time right now to look at Android's /init and check if this is possible or not…)
Storage-wise, the boot partition should be large enough to accommodate the extra ~5 MB of modules.

Would you happen to know how to edit double tap to wake frequency? Eg. i find that i cannot double tap too fast or too slow to wake up the screen. any ways to change that?
Thanks!
any improvements in the battery life who have installed it ? or same as stock , if same as stock I am happy to flash it as i badly need tap to wake
@Matri}{ i did install and everything seems smooth so far i did install the gama control thingy during the aroma , what app do i use to control or tweak the gama , i tried using Faux it doesnt work
installed the kernel and the battery is mostly on par....it doesn't drain per se but it is using a bit more battery.....also, i find it that the phone state wakes up my phone a bit more than stock kernel....other than, all is good...the kernel is stable...double tap to wake or sweep 2 wake works 95% of the time...once you are used to the tapping frequency....
i just one question, how do i edit the value in sys\android_touch...i wanna enable sweep to sleep and i tried changing the value and save, but it doesn't save....anyway to make the file to save?

It is possible, but I think, that is not a key of the problem. There was a bug, when device goes to deepsleep and the only fix for now - reset touchscreen during IRQs. As a side effect - lags of dt2w. Try to do this to better understand is it because of timeouts or i2c bus resets:
1. Connect your device to usb/ac. In this state i2c bus is not suspended while screen off
2. Turnoff screen.
3. Double tap to wake. If lags then I need to fix resets during dt2w
Will make changes to dt2w to fix few usecases but anyway - gestures are more reliable for now

thank you very much.... i tried that....s2s works on my bs, but then again, when i tried to disable it by editing the value to 0 in falter and restart, the s2s still works if i have the screen on....
the only way it seems to disable s2s is by turning off wake gestures completely in sense 6...however that also render s2w non-functional too...
also s2s only works from right to left (on the buttons) no matter if i changed to disable or left to right....it seems in aroma installer, it works on the default setting no matter which you you ticked....
thank you and it's nice to know that fixes are coming....thank you very much for your time and effort on porting it to our beloved bs....

Hi,
here you can find my version of LineageOS 19.1 for our Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 devices.
At first I want to thank @rINanDO and @ChronoMonochrome for all your work which helped me a lot.
This is a BETA build, also on the LineageOS side, so don't install it if you want a complete and stable rom and don't report my already listed bugs!
When you have BitGapps installed, you have to reflash them after every update!
Here you can see how far everything is working for now.

I would recommend to use microG instead of BitGapps,
here you can find the installation instructions:
Spoiler: microG instructions
Download Magisk 24.1 and flash it via TWRP (yes, flash the APK file), reboot
Open Magisk and update the App (and do a reboot if it's asking)
Enable Zygisk in Magisk
Download and install microG installer in the Magisk manager, reboot
Download and install safetynet-fix in the Magisk manager, reboot
Check with a safetynet checker app and you should pass
If you plan to use a sim card in your device, I would recommend to disable the pin code before with another device.
In some cases the sim card becomes unusable while typing in the code.
Do you like my work?
Than you can simply hit the thanks button and consider to spend me a coffee or a beer,
I'm doing this in my free time and it also costs a lot of money to buy hardware.

Thank you for all your hard work! I'm running this ROM currently and so impressed by the smoothness and speed throughout. Thanks again!
Hey, are you interested in making OC profile for them?, I wanna help
I can beta test / private test them and adjust voltages, I would have done that myself by decompiling the kernel to change the CPU0 seems kinda hardish right now since I don't have a lot of experience with that
I remember people were running the CPU around 1700-1750Mhz ish mark same on the 8" and Note 2
also, I noticed the GPU in this kernel isn't appearing in apps for some reason
after digging in I found it runs at 533mhz, the mali400MP can run at 600mhz
you can still make the kernel "Overclockable" by leaving it at stock speeds but adding 4-6 more tiers to scaling ava freq after 1600MHz as:
1650
1700
1725
1750
1775
1800
Edit/Forgot to say: I did some tests with it Running at performance governer at 1600mhz, it was a way smoother and far better experience, the interactive one either isn't fast enough or bad, I got around 300-400extra points in PC mark (from 2600 to 2950 average) that's around 14% increase in performance!

Hey, are you interested in making OC profile for them?, I wanna help

Hi,
the kernel is already to the highest usable level overclocked.
I've enabled all the frequencies up to 1800 earlier (LOS16), but everything over 1600 MHz was too unstable,
so I've removed them.

That's true, but it's less energy efficient, I recommend everybody to use Kernel aduiator to switch to performance after every boot (if they want to use it).
The problem is if I reenable the higher frequencies, people will try to overclock and land in a bootloop,
then they claim me for doing this...

can you at least provide the modified kernel boot.img with a warning?
I used to run this thing on a 1704Kernel if I remember correctly
the stock speed is in fact 1.4ghz, maybe I remember stuff from the note 2
I use FKM it works pretty well with me

That would be possible.

I still can't believe it, I already want to see it with my own eyes, brother, your work is incredible, thank you very much.
Hello,
Guys, I don't know if there will be a solution. But I read that Google intends to end the support of applications that use 32bis processors and it is already mandatory for developers to provide the 64bit version. And already have apps only in the 64bit version on the Play Store. The question is: Will we have a way around this and install 64bit apps on our tablet? Our old man still has a lot of wood to burn with the help of our friend Html6405 who is bringing Android 12 to us.
