[Q] Problems booting into recovery. - Hero CDMA Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have been trying to boot into recovery Mode to Flash a new ROM and it has been getting stuck on the HTC boot screen. I have tried 3 different methods and I still get stuck on the HTC boot screen. Any idea what it could be?

Try
ROM manager,
Boatloader(hboot),
If all fails try the different recoveries to see which one will work

Go to my signature and select a recovery thread. Download and extract the recovery.img and place it on the root of your SD card. Then download terminal emulator and put in these commands:
$ su
# flash_image recovery /sdcard/recovery.img

Try turning your phone on Regular and ReFlash your Recovery with Rom Manager!

+1 Do what PMGRANDS said. Somehow your recovery got borked. Easy fix. Turn phone on. If you don't have Rom Manager then download it from the market. Open Rom Manager, scroll down to the bottom and select 'Flash Alternate Recovery'. When finished, scroll to tuw top and select 'Flash ClockWorkMod Recocery'. When finished either select 'Reboot phone into recovery' or manually turn phone off and boot into recovery like normal. Should be fine

[Q] Can't boot into recovery mode

It doesn't seem possible to get my phone to boot into recovery mode. When trying to do so it goes to the four coloured X and then to a black screen, so the phone automatically switches off instead of booting into recovery. I need to press the power button to restart it.
The bootloader is unlocked and the phone is rooted if that could in any way affect it. I'd like to be able to use Clockwork to be able to make a back up.
Any ideas?
I don't know the reason but try the following. Install rom manager. From rom manager install an older version of clockwork an hit reboot into recovery from there.
No it might be going into recovery but you can't see it because you have an SLCD phone. Try flashing Among RA 1.8.0.1 or 1.9.0
Well, I'd downloaded rom manager before where it didn't work but now it seems to be working. I was able to flash ClockworkMod Recovery and reboot into recovery from rom manager. Not sure why it's any different now.
Anyway, hopefully it'll stay working. Many thanks for your reply

We are gonna need more info than that dude.
what version are you running of recovery? is it amon-ra? or default? etc
It will boot straight into recovery if the boot partition is corrupt. Try flashing a good system image.
Home+back should cause recovery to reboot.
try typing
reboot recovery
You can also use the warm boot keys... send+menu+end
Powered by HTC
thanks guys for your help...i got it with reboot reocvery...

[Q] nexus one broken power button stuck in boot loop

I have a rooted and unlocked bootloader nexus one. I previously had cm7 on it but decided to flash an ics rom without having the blackrose hboot. I need help to get into recovery as I can get to the point where to select recovery I need the power button. Is there another way of getting into recovery thru fastboot or something?
Sent from my SPH-D700 using XDA App
try
Code:
fastboot boot recovery.img
Adb reboot recovery. Adb should work within 10 seconds of booting. I had a problem once that wouldn't even get past the X to the boot animation.
You can also install blackrose which enables you to press the trackball instead of the power button.
I think you need to be able to boot normally to install blackrose.
But if you have a broken power button, get blackrose and 4ext touch recovery on your phone as soon as you can boot normally.
If you're not getting far enough into the boot for ADB to work and can't do the fastboot stuff because you never unlocked the bootloader (and don't want to), you can toss a passimg on your sd card to go back to stock. Then you can reroot.
I can't get into adb, but my bootloader is unlocked. Is there any way of getting into recovery without having to reroot.
Take a look here

Thanks for the link, it somewhat helped but I was able to get it to work with lots of flashing via fast boot and whatnot
I had the same problem. I flashed back to stock. Flashed the userdata, system image, recovery image, boot image, and radio.

After downloading CM11 and GApps, I put it in my SD card and went into my recovery cwm9 by using an app. I got in and tried to flash my zips but I couldn't find them. Before I actually tried to flash them I did this first:
Wipe cache ( only required on first installation )
Wipe Dalcik cache ( only required on first installation )
Format /system and optionally /data ( Only necessary if coming from stock or a different ROM )
So when I rebooted I was greeted by getting stuck at the T-mobile boot splash.
I don't know how to get into recovery manually. I can't try to use download mode because I used fastboot. When I get into fastboot I tried using ADB to boot into recovery but device is not found when I'm in fastboot.
Please help me, I literally just got this phone and wanted to flash a custom rom because the LG stock is disgusting.

See FAQ thread for getting into recovery.
[SIZE=+1]Q14: I've flashed a custom recovery but what are the key combos to get there?[/SIZE]
Power off the device
Press and hold Power + Volume down
When the LG logo appears on the screen, quickly release the Power button, still holding the Volume down button, and press and hold Power again until the "Factory Reset" screen appears. Don't worry, this won't reset the device.
Use the volume keys to navigate up and down and Power to select. Scroll down and select "Yes" and repeat once more. It may take up to 10 seconds for the device to boot to recovery.
I've now gotten into the recovery and installed both cyanogenmod and GApps. I've actually had to change the rom found here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-l90/development/rom-cyanogenmod-11-lg-l90-lg-d415-t2871371
I've had to change the updater script that contained "w7" to "w7ds" because it said my device wasn't w7 and that it was w7ds.
I've rebooted and now it's just stuck on the cyanogenmod boot screen.
What do?

You've got an older recovery it seems. Download Philz-Touch from my thread, the link you posted, or get TWRP from this thread
Since you're having booting issues, use fastboot to flash the recovery.
Thing is when I'm in fastboot, ADB won't detect my device. I've only gotten it to detect my device once and that's when I was unlocking my bootloader. I don't know how to do it again.
So what do I do? BTW, thanks for helping me.
Edit: I formatted everything again and tried to reinstall the cyanogenmod and GApps. Seems like I just had to wait for the boot screen.

Put device in fastboot mode. ADB can't detect the device when it's in fastboot mode.
Type:
Code:
fastboot devices
You should see a listing similar to "adb devices" output.
Copy recovery image to the same folder fastboot is in. Then type:
Code:
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
or
Code:
fastboot boot recovery.img
First one will only write the recovery image to the device. The second on will write the image to the device and should then boot the device to the recovery.
EDIT:
Yes, the first boot takes a couple minutes.
Seems I just had to wait for bootscreen.
How do I turn data on and off?

easiest way to explain. Go to Settings and toggle Mobile Networks off/on.
There are several ways. I'm guessing you're new to CyanogenMod ROMs?

Well, yeah, but a faster way. Like in LG in the notification bar there was a button that would turn data on and off. Does cyanogenmod have anything like that similarly?

Quick Tiles. Pull down statusbar and press upper right corner image. There should be a tile already there for data
