[Q] Bionic and Motorola Media Link. - Motorola Droid Bionic

Has anyone had any success getting MML to work with the Bionic? I tried re-installing all the drivers and software, and still cant get it to work.

Works fine here.

Works fine. I had issues for a bit but noticed I had the Dev setting on. Turning that off fixed it. That was on stock.
On theory now and it still works.

That's weird, I've tried it with just about every setting on and then off again that I thought might effect it and I still can't get it to work.

I think I figured it out.
It seems like MML doesn't play nice with the one-click root method I used. I unrooted and now Media Link works fine. I rooted/unrooted again to test my theory and the same thing happens. Rooted with one-click and MML wouldn't work, unrooted with one-click and it worked again, and yes I made sure to turn off USB debugging when I was testing this.

weird. although there are a few apps available to use instead of MML, like winamp and doubletwist

Wifi tether help w/ 2.1

Hey everyone,
I'm pretty new to the forums so please bear with me if I'm posting in the wrong spot or totally missed a similar thread.
I just recently decided to go ahead and root my phone after the 2.1 update and before that "security patch" closed the hole. So I successfully rooted my HTC (sprint) hero w/ regaw_leinad's post (awesome help thanks btw).
Everything seems to be running great, but one of the main reasons I attempted to go ahead and root my phone was to use some 3rd party apps, most notably the WIFI Tether app.
It installed correctly and everything looks like great except for it doesn't actually seem to connect to anything. I can see the connection just fine on several laptops and even my ipad sees it. I can connect to it, and I can ping the gateway just fine, but when attempting to actually surf the web, grab email, etc it just doesn't work (shows page cannot be displayed).
I've been following a couple of threads that indicate that the something is just simply wrong with the stock 2.1 HTC ROM that prevents it, and you need to change to a custom ROM to get it to work (I think some people are using the MoDaCo (sp??)).
So I'm definitely not opposed to flashing the ROM. Would you agree that is the issue and if so, what ROM should I flash to?
Thanks in advance!
i have the same problem with the stock rom, rooted
i use wifi tether 1.6
http://code.google.com/p/android-wi...il?name=wireless_tether_1_60_htc.apk&can=2&q=
works fine for me on 2.1
Mine connects but without net. I just start up the tether then disable mobile net on the phone then enable it back then works like a charm

Basically, this is a long ass list of different things, but take a look at the bottom post:
Start Wireless Tether
Hold down the red Hang Up button
Tap the last option "Mobile Network to disable my network
Again hold down the red Hang Up button and re-enable my "Mobile Network"
Just confirmed it works - can connect my ipad, mac, pc laptop to it. I'm using a stock 2.1 android that's just been freshly rooted. Spread the word if anyone is having the same trouble.
ah Sim beat me to it
are you using an app off the market or the one on http://code.google.com/p/android-wifi-tether, if so, which version worked for you?
Lol yeah i figured it out yesterday by accident trying to get my laptop going

lol thats slow as he11, must have poor reception usually i can get 1.5 up and .5 down with a 150-300ms ping with good reception.
I had the same problem with the version from the market. I went to the developer's website and there were some newer alternate versions of that app. I installed the one from May 25th (I think) and it works like a charm.
I used the one click root on unrevoked.com to root my Hero
The market version has never worked for me. It actually even says in the notes for the market version there's a new version for the Hero and Legend on the site. That being said, the only one that works for me without disconnecting/reconnecting over and over is 1.60.
"Unable to star tethering. Please try again!"
my hero is definitely rooted i used this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=694572 awhile ago. I downloaded tether app from google code as posted earlier, but every time i click the green tether it stays start tethering then goes to "Unable to star tethering. Please try again!"
I also tried the hang up button trick as mentioned.
Thanks for your help.
ps. I haven't changed any settings am i supposed to in the Wireless Tether for Root Users? Also is there a specific way to install? I just downloaded by emailing my self url and installing from the device.

[Q]How can I use my phone as a modem(tether)?

OK, so I'm new to Android and I've been reading non-stop for the last week, but it really is A LOT to take in. I'm completely satisfied with the stock eclair version it came with, although I haven't experienced the other roms so maybe I'm really missing out. The only thing I'd really like to be able to do is use my phone to get internet on my laptop. Correct me if I'm wrong, but the easiest way is to first root your phone, then add a tether app from the market right? Any suggestions on the best app to do this?
Also, is there a way to get flash enabled on the stock rom? I saw it was on the froyo rom, is that the only way to get it, by installing a new rom?
One more about rooting. Is it possible to just download the update.zip file, email it to myself, download it to my phone and move it into the root directory on my phone? or is there a way to root using just your phone besides z4root bc Ive tried that and it isn't working. I lost the usb cable that came with the phone and the new one i bought from a gas station only charges it, won't put the phone into usb mode for some reason.
You could always try one of the Froyo roms for tethering.
You can download app one click lag fix from market. It will root your phone. I would not use anything else from the app though

Thanks, the root feature has been removed from the app though. I guess I'm just going to buy a new cord so I can connect to my comp and do it that way. Still wondering about the flash though.

Market after root

Any app I try to download is telling me I require wifi. Anyone have any ideas what's going on? I'm kinda kicking myself for rooting now.

hmm my apps are working .. can you give an example of an app? i will give it a try..
Movies app is just 1 of many.

Right after rooting I tried downloading "QuickPic" and it did nothing. It said downloading app but it just did nothing. After I rebooted it started up again. Just a fluke maybe? Seems okay now.
EDIT: Tried downloading something simple like "Target" app. It froze up again for a couple seconds, started downloading at 5kbps and they shot up to complete. Laggy for sure.
hmm i am installed just fine in 4g areas... i did notice it seemed slow in a 3g area though...
just downloaded movies without issue.. rebooted and still there... are you in a 4g area? decent signal strength? otherwise i am out of ideas...
I'm in a pretty solid 4G area. Can I factory reset while rooted? I read that someone has done it.
Sent from my DROID BIONIC using Tapatalk
i had to do a factory reset root was still there and it solved my contact problem i created
Just rooted
Just rooted, downloads and installs fine from the apps market with both wifi or 4g.
Factory reset corrected the problem.
I just completed the Root'ing of my mobile. At first I tried getting on to the Market and using the browser, but couldn't get a internet connection. I powered down the Bionic and then turned it back on. Everything worked like a charm after that.

[Q] Grayed out USB Tethering setting?

I have the GT-7000 and I am to understand that both mobile hotspot and usb tethering come as default features. ive seen a simple guide on how to get it working and it basiscally states the obvious: Check it on. The wireless hotspot is no problem, its working, but the usb hotspot option is forever grayed out and I cannot turn it on. Tried every stupid simple thing but it never becomes selectable. I downloaded and installed pdanet and that works fine but i want to know why the native setting isnt functional so I can just hot swap between computers without having to go through that install process on each computer wherever I may be. Anyone?
EDIT: For some odd reason the next time I tried on another day the option became select-able. I still dont know the reason it stayed grayed out before but at least its working now. So yay =)
im assuming your phone is connected to the pc when you are trying it?
what rom are you using?

[Q] 246 wifi tether apk

So I just updated wiht the 246 fxz, rooted my phone, and then went to reinstall the wifi tether apk, the problem is that I don't remember which version I had to use, or even if the same version works after the update.
Anybody got any information? I remember that there was a specific version that worked, I just can't find the thread that said which one again.
I didn't see any threads that talked about getting it set up after the update after searching, so figured I'd ask.
Use the latest beta available on that page with the generic ICS/JB profile on wlan1 and everything should work fine.
I've tried this and it doesn't work. Played with the settings a little, no change. Cleared data, reinstalled, factory reset, still no change.
I've tried multiple computers, so it's not just one PC either...
actually, looks like wifi is broken...
Have to hack the phone with sqlite search YouTube bionic hotspot and you will see how I have it working native.
Just use FoxFi

I did something similar to my Droid 3 with radiocomm software and a computer. You basically copy the data connection value and then paste it onto the tethering value. Not sure how it would go with the Bionic but I'll be researching it. I could also just use foxfi...
