[Q] Link2sd on Optimus Black - LG Optimus Black

Well, for a long time i tried to make it work but without any success...
With the latest update it works but all applications moved to the second partition disappear after restarting the device and the app give me an error about mounting exactly this second partition...
Any hint about it?

Nobody?

Initially when I had purchased my device I'd also tried but it didn't work for me as well.
But now since we have got 1gb internal I don't bother at all..

I feel the phone a lot laggy with 600mb+ of free space...
This is why i want it on our OB.

Is this similar to App2SD?
Ah, I see the difference now..
I tried it with CM7. With 2nd partition to ext2. Read that it's much faster without the ext4 lulz. With another partition as swap file. Apps seems to open faster after linking. My market opens in an instant. It broke at first but reinstalling was not a problem.. Even this xda app loads faster.. so far so good.
Are you on stock rom if I may ask?

Yes,i'm on V10e...
I haven't tried using a swap partition,work for you?
And your apps, stay there after a reboot?
Man,i have a class 10 16gb sd card...
I believe that the phone will be a lot faster using this trick.
One question, have you tried with an EXT3 partition?

[Q] Number application limit ?

Is there any limit to the number of application that can be installed to this device?
I'm using app2sd Amarullz script. I've tried Darktremor and also s2e.
But after I installed a lot of applications (only takes about 200MB of my ext partition), I can't install anything more. Everytime I tried, it always get reboot while installing.
but after I remove some apps, I can install it.
i had like 304 apps installed...but no reboot when tried to add new ones...in fact the only thing that happened to me was extreme lags
what a2sd u are using?
your size of ext partition?
sorry I kinda curious what happened to me...
i have 300+ app, and doesn't have such problem.
i'm using ungaze, never try amarulz.

If you mean the ext partition, it isn't. I have 1.28GB ext partition and I've just used around 200MB.
is it because I also use swap?

yes, after I uninstall some, I can install some. That's why i think the problem is application number or too much partition size that the device can't handle?
I've make a smaller partition of ext4. now it's about 800MB.
and 300MB swap.
why u change u'r partition?
i have 1,1 GB ext4 and only 100MB swap.

I've opened Root Explorer and open /sd-ext. It's r/w.
that's should be right that, isn't it?
I have more than 250 apps, and i'm having problems - launcher forced close.
Problems disappear if i remove - or quarantine/freeze - apps.
Seeem to me that it's worst with apps that scan for apps list - titanium backup, or others apps manager.
I do not use any a2sd progs - just the native 'move to sd' feature, with the hack to bypass original settings, used to mov e in SD freezed (unused) apps.
Another - separate - issue is memory occupation...
Seem to me that updating apps do not remove the older apps - this is surely true with ROM apps - so i get a lot of memory wasted.
Another - separate - issue is RAM, or run-time memory... Android should manage it on its own - but still i'm not so confident that errors do not occurs with heavy load.
I thinj maybe the prob is your sdcard. Try purchase highend sdcard like classt10

Problem with a Class 10 32gb sd card

So, I was using a 4gb SD card class 4 and it worked flawlessly, but a few days ago i bought a 32gb class 10 Sandisk SD and it worked just fine for a day, after doing http://acetips.wordpress.com/2011/09/19/how-to-force-install-apps-to-sd-card-without-root/ process. The next day, my cellphone got stuck and it restarted a few times, and every time it turned on it recognized some apps and others not. After that I formatted it from both my cellphone and from my pc and it kept happening. Sometimes, after turning on the cellphone it says the SD is damaged and asks me to reformat it again. I even reverted the process mentioned before and rooted the cellphone, but the SD is still buggy as hell.
Anybody has any idea as to why this might be happening?
Im using the Galaxy Ace s5830L with stock rom and kernel.

You can't force move apps to the SD without root cleanly. You'll get problems. That's the whole point of rooting and what it stands for. If you're still after your warranty, there's an unroot file with the rooting one depending where you got it from. There's a thread here on XDA with both files. Then you can just install your carrier's rom and you're good to go.
You will need root for A2SD, and even then you gotta be careful how you do it. There are some apps and scripts that do better jobs than other ones.

Yes, I reverted the process mentioned before and I rooted my phone and moved apps with Link2SD and the same thing happened. After rebooting my phone once it stopped recognizing some apps randomly (it says the ones that the phone doesn't recognize are not installed). But when I switch to my 4GB SD card it works fine. Then I formatted the card and the phone and tried to make a partition but as you know it didn't work.
Maybe it's a size problem, I don't know. It's not that I need that much space but I will not even think about space with that SD card and also I've already bought it, haha. I'll go to the store where I bought it tomorrow anyway.
Thank you again for your time!

Oh alright. Good thing you solved it. Also, I don't recommend Link2SD as it doesn't free that much space compared to better alternatives like INT2EXT+ or DT's A2SD.

Yes, I know that now. When I change the SD card or find what's the problem I'll start from the beginning and I won't use Link2SD.
what partition type did you put on your sd card? n its possible that the partition is corrupt i had a similar issue not so long back
i formated the whole sd card using minipartion tool then made a 2gd ext4 split works fine now
I followed this tutorial to make the partition http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1477996 (not sure what type of partition it is). But the SD card had been working bad before I tried to make the partition.

[Q] Link2SD + internal memory problems

Recently, i flashed my galaxy mini with cyanogenmod 10.1. Just after installation itself, the internal memory was almost 110MB used out of 178MB.
So i installed link2sd to solve my internal memory problem. But, at the time of mounting the second partition, it showed an error that i was out of storage space and that the mount script cannot be created. I made the second partition from CWM. I also tried partitioning it myself in ext2, ext4 and fat32 formats but still, the same error appeared. I dont remember if i tried with ext3.
After searching a bit about my problem and getting no help, i decided to try s2e. I downloaded and installed it from CWM. The problem is, i forgot to uninstall link2sd. After reboot, i couldn't find any apps named s2e. But, link2sd automatically started and now, it showed a mount warning which said:
"2nd partition is not mounted during boot time. it has been mounted after system finishes booting. Therefore, linked apps are not visible to system at the moment. To make them visible again, please try 'recreate mount scrips' or 'quick reboot' "
when i clicked on 'recreate mount scripts', the old error came up. So after rebooting again, i used the 'quick reboot' option and then link2sd seemed working. The problem is that, now, whenever i switch off and switch on the phone, i need to use the option 'quick reboot' from link2sd to make it work.
Any help to get rid of that problem?
And, another doubt: why was my internal memory almost 110MB used just after installing cyanogenmod? Is there any way i can free up more space?

Thanks for replying. Int2ext leaves the \data\data inside internal memory itself right? As i've said, i have only about 68mb in internal memory because the rest had been occupied since i installed cyanogenmod. Is there any way i can clean up those files from internal memory? And also, my \system partition is almost full with just 4kb remaining. I just saw this in link2sd. Is this normal??
Or, another case, i would love to get link2sd fixed because i already did stuff up my phone with a lot of apps and also, i think its a really good app manager.

/system does not appear in the internal memory that u r referring to. \system is allocated a different memory i.e., about 207mb. Your ROM goes in there.
all the user apps data and cache is saved in /data. This is your Internal memory.
there are different versions of int2ext script. Go through the link i gave. There's one more:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1879806
Read the details there.
briefly speaking, int2ext moves all the /data stuff onto the ext4 partition that u create on you sd card.
int2ext+ leaves /data/data in the internal memory.
I am using fixed-int2ext+ and I have more than about 105 apps installed on my phone and the /data/data/ size is about 145 mb.. leaving about 35mb free on internal memory. My phone is super smooth.
In u prefer int2ext, then you can practically store any number of apps (limited only by your ext4 partition size. But the phone gets laggy and slow. I have tried both and i prefer int2ext+.
Also, if you are using the latest CM10.1 nightly by rohan007, you'll still have about 19mb or so free on /system.

i did a data and cache reset today and still, the internal data memory is almost 110MB used. That means i have only about 70MB left even after data reset. And yes, i am using CM10.1 (02-04-2013 update) nightly by rohan007 and still, the system partition has only 4KB left.
I did go through the different int2ext scripts. Possibly, i think int2ext+ would be better.
Anyways, today, after doing a complete reset, the home key stopped working. Also i found a few other bugs in the notification drawer. So i just deleted that rom and i'm trying baltrom now. It seems pretty smooth than the other cm 10.1. Also, it had the int2ext+ so the memory problem solved for now. And one more thing, I'M DONE WITH LINK2SD!
Lol.. I never faced that issue.. Been using cm10.1 for more than a month now.. And I flashed this ROM many times.. No such issues at all.. I wonder what went wrong.. Anyways.. Enjoy with int2ext+..

I think i found out why home button stopped working. If we have installed gapps, doing a data reset can produce problems(like, home button not working) and we'll have to flash the rom again to fix it. Thats what happened, I THINK. I read something similar in the forum. Thats how i came to this conclusion.

Both aren't good because the process is slower.. so, u need to partition your sdcard via CWMrecovery,.. there is a thread about it... or i can tell you..
1)Back-up all files in Sdcard and put in PC
2)Enter CWMrecovery
3)find partition sdcard
4)choose desired ext4 partition value
5)next choose desired swap value(if u run JB platform i recommend to apply 256MB swap)
6)choose ok, then it'll partitioned your sdcard with full formatting, thAts why we need to backup first
7)Reboot the device, open terminal emulator app and type free,.. if it shows memory in bytes on swap.. then it works..
Partitioned Swap doesnt use any script to activate it on any new kernel yet the Legend of nAa kernel.. try it

[Q] Link2SD not working at all after CM11 upgrade.

Hello peeps!
This is my first post! But it aint any tutorial, rather just a problem I am facing. Since, ya'll know, galaxy pop has a very little internal memory, hence, too many apps cannot be installed. However, this problem was overcome by apps such as the one mentioned in the question. But now the problem I face is, after I upgraded to CM11 (jenkins) this method no longer works. From un-installing system apps to moving them. Either there is so "no media available error" or "no sufficient permissions error" (even though SU allows L2SD) :crying:
So, is there something I am missing out? Is there something I need to do? I am ready to wipe data any number of times, but just don't want to downgrade.
PS. I tried the ADB method. It was decent, but problem? System apps can't be moved, or atleast the option wasn't enabled in my phone.
PPS. I really love this ROM, so please, any suggestions except downgrading would be appreciated. :fingers-crossed:
You should uninstall link2sd and flash cronmod INT2EXT. It's a script that mounts your sd-ext partition as data, so that you get more storage.
For this need a class 10 sd card or faster and you have to create an sd-ext partition on it. There are many tutorials on how to do that, just Google it.

No Success.
hey, I just wanted to inform that I tried to use Cronmod's INT2EXT, but it didn't do the trick for me. :crying: I was wondering, every time I use ES file explorer, I see a "sd-ext" folder. Will moving apps there do the trick?
I know this may be a stupid question, but I am just curious.
