Reboot mod? - Motorola Droid 3

I know there are ROMs for other phones that add a reboot option to the power menu. Is there a way to do that for the D3?
I can just wait for CM7, but its only in alpha and I won't flash it until its an official release - buggy android drives me crazy.

I too would love an app/mod for this.

you can get a reboot widget in the market for free

toolbox reboot
from a terminal works, set it up with a gscript shortcut.

I use switchpro. Has reboot (reboot bootloader and reboot into recovery, I never tried them assuming they don't work). I been having issues w/ it lately tho on monsterom.

Use quickboot, launching the app requires two tap to reboot, as a link on the desktop, just one.

JIT in roms that already have it

I haven't had any luck enabling JIT in ROMs that come with it as an option. The DamageControl ROM as well as the PureROM both have it.
When you check the box to turn on JIT, it pops up a little text bar that says to reboot. I know you have to disable sense and the HTC lockscreen which I have done but my phone always goes to a bootloop.
The only ROM that I have found that doesn't have this issue is the darchdroid rom that has JIT and overclocking already enabled from the start.
Does anyone have any suggestions?
I have tried wiping dalvik after enabling JIT (by enabling, then shutting the phone off and booting to recovery with volume down key on powerup).
Jit can be so fickle sometimes =). try this
1. Download a different launcher(to use in place of Rosie.apk, aka sense launcher), i would recommend Launcher Pro, or ADW launcher from the market.
2. after installing it, hit your home button, and set the new launcher as default.
3. Set your background to an image on your SDcard
4. Open DCconfig, and go into banned apps. Ban SenseUI
5. Uninstall the XDA tapatalk app if you have it installed (if you really want to use it with JIT, search for xda 0.9, it works with jit)
6. reboot
7. Be sure you now have the vanilla lockscreen, and non-rosie launcher. If you have vanilla lock screen move to step 8, if you still have HTC lockscreen perform this code to be sure its gone....
Code:
adb remount
adb shell
cd /system/app
rm Rosie.apk
rm HtcLockScreen.apk
reboot
you should now have the vanilla lockscreen..
8. enable JIT in DConfig and reboot
Can you post a logcat if this gives you bootloops?
Ic3ROM has it, and when enabled, works flawlessly (only in version 2.8, though. I had problems with 2.9)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=663366
I'll keep messing with it. I've learned to Nandroid before doing it so I don't have to lose everything I've set up.
I've kinda given up on it for now. Maybe if the Hero gets official 2.2 it won't be such a big deal.
Frankly it'd be nice if ROM makers would enable JIT off the bat so it was on after you installed and then maybe people could go in and turn it off if they don't want it.

[Q] How do I get apps2sd ext 4 working on the Nexus one with the latest Cyanogen Mod?

Hey guys, I'm loving my new N1, but I keep running out of room for applications, and I wanted to know if I could implement Apps2sd ext2/3/4 or w.e to make more room. I like to use Cyanogen Mod, but I'm not sure how to implement it. If someone could help me, that'd be great! Thanks!
Ditto.

Try S2E or Link2ext in the market, our go look up Darktremors. Depending on what you want, the apps should be more than sufficient...

When i use darktremors, it doesn't work, but if I type in a2sd reinstall, it says location is read only
Try to fix permissions via ROM Manager. Also, try flashing DT before you flash gapps...

I tried that; it didn't work. Also, when I run a2sd reinstall, and reboot, its stuck on rebooting
Try the DT thread... xD

Not been my experience. Strange that. What works for me...
Boot to recovery of your choice.
Do multiple wipes, both cache + dalvik-cache. Though just one wipe each is likely enough, IMO. Also wipe sd-ext.
Write your CyanMod of choice.
Write your gapps.
Write your DarkTremors. Go with the latest, OR, as others are insisting, stay away from that and go with the previous stable release. Latest works great for me.
Reboot device.
Wait a good minute after arriving at lockscreen and reboot device from lockscreen, OR find Quick Boot in app drawer if your power button is gorked (you'll need a working power button to reboot from lockscreen).
After reboot, wait a good minute at lockscreen. Then Proceed to open terminal session and start playing with a correctly installed (hopefully for you) DT2ext.
Lots of experts out there, but this has always worked for me. If you still need guidance, search in DarkTremor's thread to be advised about your partitions.

Thank you, I figured it out.
DT is the best choice, but S2E is simpler than DT, it's avaliable in market

How to delete an android app without booting to ICS

I installed Task Changer Pro, to go with WebCM9, for some reason when ICS loads Task Changer Pro locks the screen from any touches, I can however lock and unlock the screen using the power button.
How Can I uninstall the app without using ICS.
Edit1-
Method to fix in post 5.
Easy way is to flash a new ROM
Sent from my PG86100 using XDA
No that is the hard way.
I want to boot in safe mode.
(Safe mode prevent non native apps from loading) I just don't know what button is used to get into safemode on the Touchpad.
You can always ty and mount it from within webos and delete the app manually ?
Sent from my cm_tenderloin using xda premium
Thanks, I tried a few ideas to get rid of the culprit app.
1. Safe Mode - Didn't Work
Safe Mode on TP doesnt seem to work, perhaps due to the lack of awareness by the tenderloin devs and or a mismapped key.
2. ADB into the device and remove the apk (CM9 ADB Drivers)
3. Mount in WebOS - Didn't know how
4. Perform a factory reset - Didn't want to resort to this
#2 worked for me after about 2 hrs of research and trial and error, even then the app was not named "TaskChanger.apk" it had the dev's name as the app.

[Discussion] NULL_ROM Official Q/A - FAQ- General Discussion thread

This is place where you can come and ask questions regarding support as well as any other general discussion for the Null rom. Please keep the development thread to just that DEVELOPMENT. The developer of this rom is here to develop and not here to answer your questions because you can't take the time to figure out the answer yourself. This will be a community driven thread. Therefore, if you feel something needs to be added to the OP please mention me in a post and I'll take a look
If you need to download the rom free to stop by the dev thread to download. However, if I see you ask a question in here and then go to that thread to ask the same question I will be handing out infractions. Please consider this your only warning.
On a side note, I'll be transferring the OP of this thread to a person with this device in due time. However, for the moment this needed to be created. If you are willing to take the OP from me please feel free to send me a PM. The only requirement that I would have is that you keep it updated properly.

UNABLE TO WAKE GEAR WHILE IN PHONE CALL
THIS IS CAUSED BY THE HOME BUTTON REMAP MOD, THE HOME BUTTON MUST BE PRESSED IN ORDER TO WAKE THE GEAR UP IN THIS STATE.
ONLY WORK AROUND IS TO EITHER USE THE WRIST WAKEUP GESTURE OR DISABLE THE HOME BUTTON REMAP MOD.
*NOTE* BY DISABLING THE HOME BUTTON REMAP MOD, THIS WILL DISABLE THE ABILITY TO MANUALLY LOCK THE SCREEN WHILE USING A CUSTOM LAUNCHER.
DOUBLE TAP BRIGHTNESS/SOUND TOGGLE HAS DISAPPEARED

*NOTE 2* YOU CAN SIMPLY REFLASH THE ROM WITHOUT WIPING AND DISABLE THE HOME BUTTON REMAP MOD.
NAVIGATE/PULL THE FOLLOWING FILE FROM YOUR GEAR: /SYSTEM/USR/KEYLAYOUT/GPIO-KEYS.XML
EDIT IN A TEXT EDITOR SO IT LOOKS LIKE THE BELOW:
Code:
key 115 VOLUME_UP WAKE
key 114 VOLUME_DOWN WAKE
key 116 POWER WAKE

Whenever I select "recovery" it doesn't give me an option to install the rom?
I followed the steps for the root and the add the .zip to my SD card on the phone. When I select the option for recovery it just does a system restore on it. Any help?

The developer could be interesting....
Just a quick (somewhat noob) enquiry about the Gear and what this ROM can do for it, as I'm thinking of picking up a Note3 + Gear from work (Vodafone), as the watch is free.
Firstly, I hate Touchwiz with a passion! I don't wish for anyone to read that in an angry way, but I'm really not fond of the colours, themeing, etc. of that particular UI. I much prefer vanilla Android and, as such, would look to root the Note3 and install CM or an equivalent on it.
Would I then lose any functionality of the Gear? Can the GearManager APK be installed on a non-TW ROM?
I'll need a bit of an idiot's guide for the whole thing, but it's nothing I can't research.

No. Sadly not.
Or at least not with all the bells and whistles working.
I actually am testing CM11 on my note 3 as I type. I was wondering if someone could link me to the latest gear manager so I could test how it works.

Here's 2 versions. The latest and the previous one, a lot of people are having problems with the latest, and even Samsung supposedly admitted it was bugged and they were going to release a new one. The previous version seems to work fine for people, and there's no real functional updates on the latest one anyway, so you might prefer it.
Latest version - 1.5.121601
Previous version - 1.5.120903
I couldn't get cm11 to download the necessary apks for gear manager so I restored a tw backup and backed up the apks themselves. When I went to restore them the only ones that would not restore were the weather and svoice. It is paired now with gear manager running in the notifications. Still testing out what works and what doesn't

I have nexus 5 rooted and running null16, could anyone please point me out how to make gear manager to work?has anyone made notifications work? so far i can just make calls from it and syncs the time.I have read everywhere but nothing works so far and i can't seem to find a reliable sorce of information. If we could make something like an app and null to be modified to work with that so we lose gear manager dependency i belive that would be a game changer . Fomey i will donate something pretty soon as i allways apreciate work from people creative like yourself .
EDIT: 15 AUD for you Fomey, thank you for your work !
reboot after install of null_16
i have attempted several times now to install the null_16 on my galaxy gear. after each time i attempt to go into the recovery mode to actually install it, it reboots and resets the device. i have read numerous times to flash the null_03_TWRP2.7.tar.md5 file and i have done this with odin and received a pass at the top left of the odin program and then it reboots the galaxy gear. i then install the null_16 file on the root of the sd card directory with wondershare mobilego (left zipped as noted in several videos i have watched) after this i remove device from charging device and this is when i try to go to recovery modeto install. after getting to recovery and holding power button for approximately 3 seconds and release this is when it reboots and has reset itself. any help would greatly be appreciated and yes it is rooted with supersu. I am sure i am doing something wrong but not sure what.

OMG i got it running!
thanks so much for all the work done with this rom... Everything seems to be running perfect...
At first i couldn't get it to flash properly... I was trying everything. Took hours to initially get the recovery going. It ended up being a driver issue and after a lot of reading and troubleshooting i was finally able to get it up and running.
One question that i have that i couldn't find the answer too... Is there any way to have the watch widget (either the stock clocks or watch styler) appear as a full screen widget without the launcher or the status bar at the top... yet keep the status bar and launcher on the other pages? I am assuming that i can't do it after reading countless of pages... Because i do like the full screen watch face.
Thanks again for all the hard work!

Installing Null_ TWRP: (Version as of this tutorial is Null_ 03 TWRP)
Thanks to fOmey for this Null_ TWRP
Installing Null_ TWRP:
Preparation:
Download Null_ TWRP - fOmey
READ THE NULL_ TWRP Original Post
Installation:
Put your Gear into Download Mode
Connect your Gear to you PC.
Open Odin
Click on the PDA Button
Locate the Null_ TWRP file and select it. (It should be a .md5 file, if it is zipped, then unzip it)
Press Start
Once it is completed it will reboot the gear.
Null Quote:
If you find the recovery is not sticking & your Gear wipes when attempting to access recovery after flashing, you must root your Gear prior to installing TWRP again & Run the following commands in ADB:
*NOTE* You will gave to accept a supersuser request popup when executing "SU" command
*NOTE 2* Probably a good idea to run this prior to first installation (To save time)
Code:
$ adb shell
$ su
# mount -o rw,remount /dev/block/mmcblk0p20 /system
# rm /system/recovery-from-boot.p
ADB stands for Android Debug Bridge
If needed "ADB" can be found here on xda - Thanks to shimp208

You cannot do what you are asking.... But you can set clock widget. Use Nova settings to hide notification bar, dock and scroll indicators then use gesture and button settings to create gesture to accommodate just about anything! I have swype down to open notification bar..... Swipe up open notification app.... Double tap opens app drawer and 2 finger Swipe up opens my dialer! Just set widget long press and resize to full screen. You may have to adjust colums and rows in Nova settings to accommodate whatever widget you are using in order to center properly. Hope this helps!

On the newest release (16) there is support for custom boot animation and includes the null boot animation. Is that a part of the aroma installer or is the custom null boot animation a part of the rom that you cannot remove? I'd rather stick with the stock if you don't mind.

Extend the Power Off menu with reboot and so on in stock

Hi there, I have a N6 running stock Android 5.1 LMY47D. By default "reboot" is not an option when you press "Power Off" button so how do I extend that menu to add "Reboot, "Reboot into Recovery" options? I know there are a lot of ways to do it: trhough XPosed and Advanced Power Menu module (not sure if works fine on Android 5.1), through apps on the PlayStore (one more app just for reboot the phone) and by installing a custom ROM (I like stock for now) but there is a way to avoid all of this and just extend the menu?
Any advice?

as far as i know, the only options are the ones that you listed since there is no stock option built into 5.1:
1) Xposed (which is either in alpha or beta so if i were you i would wait on this option due to stability issues).
2) install an app from the playstore ( i am currently using SimpleReboot which currently satisfies my needs for now).
you can use the terminal also
