Hi all, happy Friday! I searched for my paticular issue but couldn't find anything. Just wondering if anyone else has experienced this issue or something similar. What happens is my revo isn't automatically reconnecting to wifi when i go out of range and then back in. I will notice it's using data (4G or 3G) and when i go to wifi settings the wifi network says disabled and i have to go to it and hit connect. What's more weird is it's doing this with the wifi at work but not at home. It's not an issue with the wifi at work though because other people here have androids, iphones and blackberrys and don't have the issue. The phone has done this since i got it. I've looked at the wifi sleep setting and made sure it is set to never to rule that out. I've done several powerdowns and battery pulls since i got it also. Anyhow just wondering if anyone has heard of this. Thank you and sorry for the length of my post.
That happens on my phone as well, but will reconnect to my home network after the screen is on for a few seconds

I don't have that issue but I always turn my wifi off when I'm not using it. Better battery life plus no issues
Yeeup, I've had that exact issue on this phone from day 1. Some may not consider it a big deal, but it's actually one of my biggest pet peeves about the phone. I was hoping the V6 software update back in August would contain a fix for it, but I didn't notice a change.

While that's a valid workaround, and i'd love to do that, it's not an option for me. I have the lowest data plan you can have on a smartphone (2gb), so i have to be on wifi whenever it's available so as not to go over usage. What's odd though is the phone only seems to do this with the wireless at work. I even went somewhere this past weekend that i haven't been in a while and the phone remembered and connected right up to the wifi there. Other smartphones at work don't behave this way with the wireless at work though. I'll just have to live with it, i'm used to it now anyway. Just have to remember everytime or i'll be using up my precious data. I'm wondering if the update to gingerbread (if our revo ever get it) will do anything with this issue.
What type of security is implemented at your work? I know there is a very common problem with PEAP and MSCHAPV2 authentication and FROYO. I can connect, but as soon as I change to another antenna, I get disconnected. It is the only reason I know I want Gingerbread. It was supposed to be fixed in Gingerbread.

Good question gig, work has 2 networks. One uses PEAP and the other is for guest internet access, i have it on the guest. I gather from what you've said it wouldn't help any to try this issue on the main PEAP network.
I have an update on my issue. I was at lunch yesterday and trying to connect to the free wifi there and noticed that the wifi network at work that's been giving me problems was on the list of remembered networks twice! I have no clue how this happened (in troubleshooting i always hit forget). I didn't even know it was possible for any device to have duplicate entries of wifi networks. I deleted one of them and it seems to have worked (so far). Some other people replied saying they were having my issue too, so i wanted to update this thread in case it would fix their issue too.

Loving the phone really, one thing i have noticed is when ever im downloading or uploading large files through my home WIFI after a short period the phone disconnects from the network and i have to reconnect manually. Any ideas is anyone else having the same issue. All my other devices are fine
Same thing here, but it reconnects itself - just losing the connection for 1-2 seconds. It happens sometimes even when browsing the web. Most likely some kind of software bug.
Had similar symptoms when playing with the phone at work`s WiFi (1st day of usage). On my home WiFi nothing wrong at all.
Make sure that keep WiFi on during sleep is always.

I found that WiFi is one of the most power draining things on phones. The best thing would be to switch to mobile data while sleeping and turn wifi off during that time.
That way you can still receive everything, but since you're sleeping you will barely use any data at all.
To bad the phone can't do that automatically.
I'm getting frequent wifi drops in my home (netgear router, wpa psk security) and its also affecting other devices in the house! Other wifi networks I've connected to seem to be fine, no issues whatsoever. Sometimes it'll say its connected, but no data, other times it will disconnect entirely.
This is a VERY strange problem and the fact that its affecting the wifi connection to other devices is even stranger.
Just an update on this, I returned my phone to P4U this morning as the wifi thing was annoying me and the phone has eaten 823mb of mobile data in one weekend even though i had mobile data turned off and connected to WIFI, The handset said i used 115mb and Voda said 823mb. not the only reason i returned it but it needed changing. So got my new handset up and running this afternoon and im set up and i been downloading all my files and apps with out any problems.
So looks like i had a dud phone first time around.

Getting the same problem too. All my other devices (Nexus7, Ipad, PC) can connect fine to my wireless home network (fibre). But when I start connecting my Xperia Z to the wireless network, after 5 mins, my Gateway will hang, and restart itself. Happens all the time without fail as long as I have my phone hooked up to the wireless network.
Anyone else facing this problem?? I'm kinda at a loss now on how to solve it. Tried adjusting settings on my wireless channel too but doesn't seem to help. Any help will be greatly appreciated!!!

Ok, so i reckon this could be an issue with not having a static I.P address. Gonna change it tonight when I get home and see if the problem is solved. It's either that or it may be trying to connect to a port thats used for something else? Have ports assigned for my Xbox ect. I'm not too knowledgeable about these things so any other suggestions are welcome. Not too many settings on the phone unfortunately so the problem has to be solved using the router I'd say.

I have static ip set up since the beginning, and I also have the problems. Only my problem seems to stem from 2.4 GHz/ 5 GHz (if this is even possible). 5 GHz is the preferred one, but this one seems to be out of range sometimes and it switches to mobile data. The 5 GHz is then out of range, while the 2.4 GHz is not. Very strange.
Ive found the Xperia Z has held on to a 5GHz Wi-Fi signal better than any other device I've used before, but the 2.4GHz can often disappear...
Very odd, although at home I am quite happy that 5GHz works better as there's far less interference from local neighbours. Perhaps that's causing the problem - in that the XZ isn't so well set up to cope with other routers on the same Wi-Fi channels??
The reach of my 2.4 GHz is at 75%, while 5 GHz is at 50%??? Strange.
I would always expect 2.4GHz to carry further, and so I am surprised by my experience too.
In my case, there's only 1 5GHz router visible other than mine, but countless 2.4GHz ones. Not sure why that would make the XZ drop (and sometimes even lose) the connection - but that's what seems to be happening.
Xperia Z no wi-fi without SIM
I have a different wi-fi issue with my Xperia Z. It does not connect to my home wi-fi when there is no SIM in the phone. It just says that the network is out of reach. When I pop in the SIM card, it connects automatically. Actually, all the hi-end Sony phones I tried recently do this (Ion, T and more). I've been looking for a solution here on the forum, but didn't find any helpful topic. But maybe I was looking wrong. Does anyone know, what to do?

I think the obvious answer is put a SIM in there... and if that means getting any old SIM and cutting it to size, even if it's not registered on any network, then do that.
I wonder if it the phone is looking at the SIM to identify the country, and therefore what channels can be used? I say this because when I first used the phone (without SIM) I also had problems [router not showing up in a scan], and my router is on channel 13. I then put in a SIM and at some stage did another scan and it found my router.
Is your router perhaps on channel 11, 12 or 13?
I know it's a long shot, but who knows?

Interesting point, will try to investigate with the channels. And I may also try to dig out some inactive SIM, thanks for the tip... The only thing I found is, that the problem obviously appears only with the WPA2-PSK security. With WPA, its all a-OK...
If you look inside the build.prop
The wifi.channel is not assigned, maybe this can gives you an idea guys.

Hey guys,
So I just got my brand-spanking new HTC One today. I upgraded from the Evo LTE, and I already love it.
But there's one thing that has been really frustrating to me for the few hours I've owned this phone... It has major WiFi issues.
My One can see the WiFi network, can connect to it, but wont give an internet connection! It's so frustrating!
My Evo LTE, being connected to the same WiFi network, connects to the internet with no problem at all.
A temporary fix is to turn off the WiFi radio, then turn it back on. As a result, I would connect to the internet for a minute or so, then it would disconnect from the internet (it's still connected to my WiFi network, and it recognizes it, and it gives no messages about the connection suggesting that something is wrong with my router/connection).
I changed the frequency bands, but they all have the same issue. I have enabled "Best Wi-Fi performance" and "Keep Wi-Fi on during sleep."
I've also reseted my router numerous times... No luck.
Is anyone else having this issue, or did I just get a lemon? Can anyone think of a possible solution?
Thanks!
no issues here with my one and my netgear r6300 ac router.
Wi-Fi has been fantastic for me on my one. My evo LTE if you remember had the issue of wi-fi just shutting off after the phone was asleep. That was fixed in an update but even after that was fixed my evoLTE would show it's connected but data would not work. So I would have to toggle it on & off. I also had an issue with my sense widget not working and getting stuck. I was really starting to dislike the evoLTE because of it since your notifications quit working if your wi-fi was not connected correctly. I put up with crappy wi-fi for almost a year, mainly because I knew if I took it into Sprint they would say everything works perfect I just didn't wanna deal with. I know it's extremely frustrating to not have your wi-fi work correctly. My advice see if you can get a hold of another HTC one to test side by side. If it's a hardware issue you should get it swapped. You could also try hard resetting. I use a a WRT54GL with tomato at home and a Asus N66U at work, both have performed awesome with my one.
I have _exactly_ the same issue with my One. I have no idea if it's a software or a hardware problem. Tried a hard reset just yet, but it didn't seem to make a difference.
Really frustrating indeed, since the One is not very good available in the Netherlands yet, so if I return it, I might have to wait a few weeks to get a new one. I've tried it with at least 6 completely different WiFi networks, but the problem occurs with every one of them.
Only issue I have had with the WiFi thus far is it doesn't seem to have the pickup up range compared to my other phones and tablets.
WiFi on mine is insanely crazy! Picks up signal way better than any other device I've ever owned. Might be the kernel I'm running. Try it out! Look in the original dev thread.

I've noticed this as well. Areas in my office where I could get a decent wifi signal with my 3D I am dropping wifi completely with the One.
Router brand/model? Firmware version? WEP/WPA/Open? 2.4Ghz, 5Ghz or dual band? Channel (more relevant on 2.4 than 5)?
Does your phone get a valid IP? Check on the phone itself then the router under DHCP (assuming normal configuration, IP should begin 192.168.*.*)
Can you ping any internal node (ie your router) or external node (ie google.com or the IP to google)?
If your router has WEP/WPA enabled, switch it to Open solely for testing the connection.

Note that in this way I didn't get all my setting back from my google account (like access points), but at it is working!

Took the OTA yesterday and I am not having that happen to me at all.
No issues here.
UPDATE:
Its not just my Wifi. Its the 3G too. All data drops out and connects again about once a minute. Spent an hour on the phone with Sprint. They tried everything including a wipe and hard software reset and still the issue is there. Only thing I can think of is that they snuck in some optimizing software or something. Either way, I now will need to go to a corporate sprint store. Really do not want to replace this phone that I have had for 27 days with a refurb, so any ideas will be welcomed.

I was having the same issue, do you live in an area with 4G? I don't and I think it was the cause. I think my phone was 'programmed' to think there was 4G around, but there wasn't. I kept seeing eHRPD under network info. I think it might be a 4.3 bug, bc I went back to Viper and it worked fine. Not really sure, but Amazon replaced my phone and now I'm scared to go back to 4.3 and get plagued with the bug again. I also think the new radio gave me issues, so I downgraded to the original radio also
This happened to me, it was a mixture of a damaged N antenna and bad sprint lte performance. Reverting to a g router fixed the problem for me. You should try a different router. Now fixing your regular signal, that's something you'll have a tough time with. I recommend you go to a sprint store and get a replacement asap though, my suggestion is not a fix, just a temporary measure. Curious, did you try the GPE rom by team nocturne? This issue started once I reverted from the TN GPE rom to stock. I think that rom may have damaged my radio/antenna. It's just a far fetched theory but plausible nonetheless. And a risk I took willingly, but still, I'm just curious to clarify if it was tinkering or sh*tty htc components.
I personally think it is just 4.3. I didn't have any issues with 4.1.2 with my WiFi or connectivity. I've even tested it and my WiFi drops like crazy only on 4.3 but is fine on 4.1.2, so I reverted back and haven't had any issues.

I found this just now.. towards the bottom there's a dialer code *#*#4636#*#* if you do that and change to gsm/wcdma/lte (something like that) it resolved my problem with 3G not working. Wifi might be my router
I have looked in the settings and sometimes the power saver will automatically shut 3G of it will not reconnect with a disconnected I switch to LTE / CDMA only have had no issues and also the wifi is meant to do that to conserve battery you should be able to disable the wifi in advance I'm not short just my thoughts
Sent from my HTCONE using xda app-developers app
Idk. In 4.3 all my settings were correct (*#*#4636#*#*) and I turned all battery conservation off and my data (3g and WiFi) would cut out intermittently while I was using it. I've tried that on stock and all other 4.3 ROMs, I think it might just be my phone not liking 4.3, but YMMV. Stuck on 4.1.2 until I get the Note 3.
It's a power save feature if you have enabled Power Saver. Basically if you haven't used the connection in a while it turns it off until the next scheduled update check or your screen turns back on.
I have been having the same exact issue and it is driving me nuts. I have problems at home, work and anywhere else I use Wifi so it is not just one router. I have tried numerous 4.3 roms and was about to roll back to 4.1.2 to see if that fixes it.
Was starting to think that I was crazy, glad I saw this post!
I'd hate to be (just kidding, I love being) the smart alec here, but your post title says "Wii turning on and off." I clicked on this thread wondering how your phone update was turning your Wii on and off.
I'm having the same problem after the update. Wifi turns on n off, so will my 3g/4g while I'm using it. Didn't have this problem before the update so I doubt it's hardware related.

Same here. I assumed it had something to do with the fact that they're working on lte in my area.
UPDATE:
At work (50 minutes from home) the 3G and Wifi spots I try are working fine. No strobe connection. But at home both Wifi and 3G blink. I know they are working on the antenna near home, so it must be the issue. Have tried shutting off mobile data while on wifi, tried both wifi antennas at home, can't seem to get the strobe effect to go away.

Yes, I messed up typing Wifi. At least with Wii up there get grabs people's attention.
Is anyone else having issues with wifi connecting? My issue is that wifi doesn't always connect, and the only way I can usually get it to connect is to restart my phone. So I have my home wifi saved in the phone and when I leave it obviously disconnects, then when I'm back home I have to restart my phone in order to get it to connect. My work wifi has even more issues and it doesn't always connect from a restart. Is anyone having this issue?

Mine has worked perfect so far. Have connected to several networks while at home or working.
Mine is working great too. I am getting better signal than my Razr M, and compared to several other phones I have owned, the M got wonderful signal!
I got it in red just in case anyone is curious. Most complaints I have seen seem to come from those with ballistic nylon, which was the deciding factor in buying it in red.

Magnum , which app do you use? i'd like to try it. But honestly at this point I think I'm swapping out the device...I don't see anyone else that has this same issue as me where I have to restart for the wifi to work. I did a factory reset and thought it fixed it but nope it disconnected grrrrrrrr. Luckily we can swap out within 14 days.
Oh and mine is red too and I still have issues
I am so sad. I factory reset, didn't help. I went to Verizon store and swapped out for a new phone. It connected to a random wifi by the store so I thought woohoo it works. It connected at home. Then I got to work today and its having the issues again. It won't connect unless I restart the phone (and even sometimes restarting doesn't help). I'm at a loss. I'm so sad because this is the only phone that I want that is out right now but if wifi doesn't work then it is completely and utterly usesless to me. My only glimmer of hope is that the case (verizon one that has the kickstand and the belt clip) is making the wifi act all wonky, so I took the case off and lets see what happens. Fingers crossed!
Did you disable the "Avoid poor connections" option? I found it wouldn't let me connect to a lot of networks on my old Razr M, so I disabled it immediately when I got this phone.
These are my settings, and I haven't had a problem.
Sorry to bring this back from the dead, but it appears to have resolved a weird issue I was seeing. Specifcally, I would see "old" Wifi SSIDs in the list that were not available anywhere near me. For example, I just traveled 3 hours away, and I was still seeing a router from the 3-hour-distant site. Only the phone saw it... my computer, for example, confirms it's not real. It would just show up as a "ghost" in the list, and never disappear.
I checked the post you had, and saw that I had disabled most of the items... except "Wifi Notifications" and "Scanning always available". So, when I disabled those, and then turned off/on the wifi, the ghost SSIDs disappeared.
In related news, this issue may also causing one of the routers I used to always show "Saved, secured with WEP" and yet it would never connect. It was a real signal in the area, and my laptop connected with no issues... but the phone would refuse to connect, even if I forgot the network and reconnected with the WEP key, etc. I'm hoping this fix (disabling the above two items) will fix that as well... but I won't know for sure as I'm 3 hours away from that router now
In any case, thanks for the posted pic... it helped me identify and fix the problem... hopefully this can help others, too!
Not exactly certain where to post this (as I am not altogether certain the cause) so if mods have a suggestion to move it let me know.
I have a rooted Tmobile S6 (not rhe edge) running Sick as Hell custom Rom version X w/ Unikernel v9.
Periodically my WiFi signal will display the ER041 - DNS (or less frequently the ER081) error which I believe is related specifically to WiFi calling.
My GF has the exact same phone and the same setup (I think she has WiFi calling enabled as well).
I have run some tests previously where I turned WiFi calling off and still had hiccups with the WiFi (both home and at work).
It seems that when I clear the cache and reboot the issue resolves itself but only short term before I have to do it again.
No one else in the house is having WiFi issues such as me and I cannot seem to figure out if there is a setting that is throwing things off or what.
Any help is greatly appreciated.
Mine does this too but it usually clears itself up within a minute or two.
OP, check your IP address to see if your phone is getting an IPv4 address. I don't know why, but my phone was having major issues with this. I still haven't figured out exactly what the issue was; I was on Sow Nice, flashing back to stock solved the problem. The phone was getting an ipv6 lease, just not ipv4, for no apparent reason.
If that doesn't help, I would advise setting network configuration manually. However if ipv4 isn't working, this may not solve the issue.
WiFi Issues
Alright gang I need some brainstorming...and curious if any other T-mobile Galaxy S6 users are experiencing this issue. I don't believe it is ROM related but thought I'd post the inquiry in here anyhow.
Specs:
T-Mobile Galaxy S6 (SM-G920T) rooted with Sick as Hell X and Unikernel v9.1.
Baseband: G920TUVS3DOJC
Issue:
WiFi is intermittent (both work and at home). WiFi will be running fine on this device and also on my Kindle Fire and at some point WiFi on my S6 will stop working. The WiFi icon will still appear and the up/down arrows will flash but I can't pull up Google search results, YouTube videos, etc.
I get a ER041 - DNS error which is related to wifi calling but I think this issue is in fact DNS related (I've googled and googled and am just not entirely certain, if it is DNS related, exactly how to change settings to thwart this issue going forward).
If I run a speedtest I will get a "Network Communication Issues" message. If I turn off WiFi and then turn it back on the connection is still broken.
HOWEVER, if I clear the cache and reboot the phone, it will connect to WiFi for a period of time until the connection gets broken once again.
My phone seems to be the only device experiencing this issue. I have booted into Safe Mode and the issue still occurs so it doesn't appear to be app related. The Smart Network switch has always been off as well so I know that isn't the culprit.
At work I'm not going to be able to check the router settings but obviously I can at home (at home 4 other users connect to WiFi no problem).
There has got to be some sort of tweak/button/setting that I'm just not catching that is causing this. It is irksome.
I recently did a factory reset but the issue is still persistent. Scanning the interwebs this seems to be a pretty common issue with the S6 and Lollipop.
Any ideas??

Ya lost me on the IPv4 ipv6 lease jargon.
WiFi issued are 99% kernel related

Hmmm...well then, Twisted v7.1 has yet to settle in so I guess I can let it ride for a couple days and see how things go.
Thanks bud

Keep in mind, the other kernels are international
source.
EDIT.... also uni kernel adds a default.prop in system that has ro.securestorage=false when it needs to be set to true for USA devices
I'd say at this time I can rule out the kernel (it's a been a few days now running Twisted v7.1). I honestly think it is a Samsung bug. Not just S6 users but Galaxy S7 users are now reporting the issue as well (there is a thread over at AndroidCentral).
Just like myself, those users are reporting that Smart Network switch and Blutetooth and the like are turned off/disabled and yet the problem persists.
I've had WiFi issues on an s6 edge. But I figured it out that if I'm near my microwave and it's on WiFi dies on the phone. Soon as the microwave goes off it works fine ?

Huh. Not the case in my situation. I've got a microwave but it's in the basement and rarely used.
