Can I use an ordinary microUSB-to-HDMI cable to connect it to my TV.
I have read on many sites that it is Type-D Hdmi cable.
On ebay it is too costly.
Any alternative?

I picked up one an ordinary microUSB-to-HDMI cable at my local electronics store for about $20

This phone doesn't do MHL but it uses Slimport. As far as I know there are only hdmi and vga adapters. Maybe find hdmi to composite rca? Not sure if it would work though...

slimport cost too much just for "try" , Is there some fake cheaper option ? just dont wanna take a risk and paying 20$ and it'll not work.

No, sorry. If you have a computer monitor then you could do slimport to vga but current devices aren't made with output to crt tv in mind.
I use the Netgear PTV3000 with this HDMI to Composite / AV Video Converter and it works fine. Miracast has a noticeable lag. I also use this slimport adapter directly to an HDMI TV but I haven't tried it with the HDMI to composite adapter. I saw one Miracast to HDMI + AV adapter by Visson.
So, I'm about to leave for a holiday for a couple of weeks, and a MHL adapter for my Z2 tablet would be nice. I see Sony has a cable, but that's like 38$ in the local story, and I can find MHL 3.0 adapter for 4-5$ on Ebay. Would any MHL 3.0 adapter work, or does it have to be the Sony cable? I see many of the brands on Ebay mention Samsung, any reason why this would not work?
If you find one that works, can you let us know either way? I am also interested in this!
I bought one from the local accessories store - works out of the box on my Z2 tab. Just ensure that it has USB power
I got a Belkin hml adapter with input for power, worked on my Philips TV atleast

It'll be MHL 1.0 most probably, not 3.0 and probably not even 2.0.
the cheap ones work...

I've found plenty of USB Type-C to HDMI adapters online, though wanted to check if anyone has given any of these a try?
Would anyone know if all HDMI / USB-C adapters should be compatible with the Huawei P9?

My bad, misread the op as just a micro usb to type c adapter!
P9 doesn't have MHL so no, it won't work.
I picked this $5 USB C to HDMI adapter for while I was traveling. I needed to be able to watch TV and charge at the same time.
All the functions work great on my 7t. I am running Linage OS, so YMMV if your kernel doesn't support USB C to HDMI/displayport.

So you're outputting your laptop through this. You are using the TV as a second monitor for your laptop and using another cord to charge your phone through this? you are not outputting anything from your phone to the TV, correct?
