Galaxy S Plus but if u want Ice Cream Sandwich 4.0 earlier, use Nexus One

What is "Galaxy S Plus"?
Vs the regular Galaxy S - the CPU is more or less equal, the GPU is better on Galaxy.

Plus is basically a bit of an upgrade to the original galaxy s. Same case but new CPU. 1.4ghz single core if I remember correctly.

I've been looking at the SGS+ but the lack of dev support has been a big sticking point!
We live in hope.

galaxy s plus is better only on GPU... che nexus one's cpu is better than galaxy s1 family

I don't know much about sgs plus, but normal sgs has a superior Gpu, while cpu is more or less the same.

Galaxy Note Using Mali-400MP GPU (Outdated GPU)?

hello guys..i heard that galaxy note and other samsung device are using an outdated GPU (Mali-400MP GPU)...so is it a little "fail" for our note to have an outdated GPU?plss give ur opinion.. thanks guys
..u can read the review about the GPU--> Here
It's so much faster than the sgx540 in the nexus it's ridiculous and since my choice was between those two I'm very happy with it.

Check out the real world performances. Mali 400 outclasses Adreno 220 easily.
The weakpoint of Mali is geometry performance, but it does not matter much with mobiles until now as mobile games are not geometry heavy.
On the other hand, the OpenGL ES 2.x performance and real world performance of Mali is excellent.
With the clock speed of exynos in Note which actually gives much better real world performance with Mali 400 than even SGS2, it runs circles around Adreno 220 powered devices like sensation and even SGX540 powered devices.
http://www.anandtech.com/show/4686/samsung-galaxy-s-2-international-review-the-best-redefined/17
The above review is of SGS2. And mind you the performance of note is much better than SGS2. It is one of the most balanced GPUs on market with great gaming as well as multimedia performance (which actually matters more to someone like me.)

Yeah well Scott Adams is wayyyyyyy past his heyday (heck, even being relevant).... haven't read him since 2007 or so, when he started dabbling in intelligent design woo and sexist claptrap...
for being a heavy mobile gamer
i can assure you that the mali 400 on the note does very well with the latest games (asphalt7, dead trigger to name a few) despite having to compute for a much higher resolution display than other phones...
and with a little overclocking (tegrak app or gl notecore kernel) gpu performance can get sky high.
best phone i ever got :victory:

The NOTE's and SGS3's GPU are the same.
However, the S3 is built on a smaller 32nm die-size, so it means it uses less space and less power for same performance. Samsung uses this advantage to clock the frequency much higher than the NOTE (which is built on a 45nm die).
Also, the S3 implements a new, updated driver for the gpu and squeezes more performance out. This was a same move Samsung made with the SGX540, which is also a very fast gpu. The original SGS was clocked real-low and had outdated drivers... after stealing the driver sources from the LG with OMAP 4440 SoC, the SGS (with 4.0.3) was performing in the same league as the 2011/2012 devices.

I know that that both the note and sgs3 has same gpu.. But the one in sgs3 its more powerful cause you said it's overclocked and has better drivers..
Btw do you know why the mali in sgs3 gets so high benchmark scores even wih the 720p screen? I mean is it all due to oc and better drivers?

Better drivers + a little O'C makes the overwhelming difference.
I mean the NOTE comes with *only* 2 cores and *slow* gpu... after I customized it, its running toe-to-toe with the HTC One X (Tegra3).
An easier way to understand is to look at the new RIM PlayBook.
It's got the same processor as the Gnex (Galaxy Nexus) however its much much faster, especially in browsing. It decimates it. It even decimates the ASUS Transformer Prime Infinity (O'C Tegra3 + ICS).... or the Nexus7 (U'C Tegra3 + JBean).
You are only as fast as your slowest component. In the case of Android, its the high-level (slow) implemented software.
= Getting a faster soc with more cores and more ram doesn't really increase performance that much.
Some serious thread necromancy going on here!

Dave

Both.
But I don't live by the benchmarks. I mean have you tried some of the HD Apps from TegraZone. On stock TouchWizz, the NOTE really struggles. With a custom setup, I don't get much/any problems.
Yeah, I do frequent engadget... also on heaps of other sites.

Exactly. Even though the Playbook has its many flaws (owned two both with screen/USB issues) it was a powerhouse. Multimedia was outstanding and web surfing was by far the fastest.
But the OS, QNX, is to thank for that. If the Playbook was running android it would be nothing out of the ordinary. As much as I love Android it really is not as efficiant as QNX

Recently I had a doubt about if it's possible to unlock the 2 locked remaining cores in the Galaxy Note N7000? Because I realize that the Note only uses 2 of the 4 GPU cores... It's there a possibility to do this? How?
i think mali 400 is a good GPU because Note1 and Note2 using it. and really nice GPU for gaming

Galaxy Grand Duos will be using a Broadcom chip (android 4.1)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=ZuNOCh-zetA#t=368s
Looks like the Galaxy Grand will be powered by a BCM28150 chip, it is armv7 so I'm not too sure of the things we would gain out of it
But since it runs android 4.1 and still has a Videocore IV GPU, I think we can still get some useful stuff out of its firmware
What do you guys think?
R: Galaxy Grand Duos will be using a Broadcom chip (android 4.1)
Galaxy SII Plus will use a Broadcom chipset....

well lets hope broadcom and samsung to work on S5830i too
One good thing is that....new and bigger devs will start working on broadcom chips. If thats the case. We can ask for their help in many cases.

even 2 year old galaxy s2 beats the recently released broadcom powered dual core s2 plus in benchmarks - so no high hopes for this one
why fix it if it ain't broken ?
HOPE....
lets hope this will gain as anythng useful..............................damn samsung for this condition
I also heard that galaxy s2 plus has terrible GPU scores.33fps while the original s2 can do 55 fps.Same old Video core 4 gpu.Does that really serve a purpose?
GT S5830i-Rocking on Broadcoms gpu...
I think we can get something usefull from it, but not much. Let's hope that we will have a working wifi\bluetooth\gps\etc. from it.

I am not sure about this except in linpack and glbench egypt 1080p offscreen, SII Plus wins quite decently
source: GSMArena Preview
And in linpack GA quotes they suspect some linpack issue.
I'm also interested in Galaxy Grand Duos recently released in India. Since it too is suspected to be on broadcom I was searching and found this
^its a good buy nevertheless quadrant scores are impressive . Moreover sunspider and browsermark looks promising as well . Only multi threaded benchmarks come out bit disappointing but i don't think there will be any noticeable performance differences in real life

[Q] Samsung galaxy s III mini vs. Samsung galaxy s advance

Hi.
I'll buy new phone but I need help... Which is better?? Exactly, I mean this:
Camera
Performance
SGSadvance has Auto-brightness and SGSIIImini no. So Which is better?
Thanks for the replies

well, S advance and s3 mini are same except in ram , s3 mini is 1gb ram , while S advance is 768mb ram , I think everything else are same
but since I own s3 mini I'll recommend it for you xD

Aside the lack of auto brightness which can draw more battery... (I never used it on my SGSII at all) better take Mini 3, it performs better also on battery and it's not only cause of JB IMO.
Smooth, slick and ready to be moded, almost like its bigger brother, while Advance remains in shadow (not that it should be this way, but blame Samsung for not respecting promises so to push S3 Mini sales).
ps:I admit slightly curved display, musch similar to gnex is a good excuse to take Advance S, but, it is the only reason, no mater design (if you like more squared bezel).
Cheers,
Fevv.
Plus it will probably be updated more than the S Advance.

And Sgs Advance won't get it too.
I'm sorry not to say that the S Advance is bad.
But it has a lack GPU. I dunno the kernel or the GPU itself or the GPU is bad. someone said that.
And I've tried it myself. I played some games, temple run 1 lags.
I played temple run in Galaxy Wonder without no lags.

Galaxy S or S Plus - Which to buy?

Hi guys,
So i watched a couple of videos about this device being able to run some graphic intensive games using a ROM called HellyBean or smth like that. So because im abit into gaming but not that much, which device is preferred to buy if Im into gaming. Usually, i use my phone for social networking apps and some gaming like Asphalt, Dead Space etc... Also, i rmb that the S Plus had the same hardware as my old Galaxy Wonder but its still laggy in games. SO is this phone suitable for meh? I have about 120USD/88EUR/150SGD to spend so recommend me other device D
Sent from my N150P using XDA Free mobile app
S plus you can get. Not much difference between them. S plus MSM8255T 1400MHz Qualcomm processor. Galaxy S ARM Cortex A8 processor 1000MHz. S plus = HSDPA (14.4 Mbps). Galaxy S = HSDPA (7.2 Mbps).
Sorry bad English.
S might have a better developer support. I have it running well for 4 years now. And now on Kit Kat. Cheers
s has good dev support but s plus has a bit more RAM
I would go for the plus. Running KitKat on it now. Very good.
Hmm, I watched a YouTube video about this guy who was using his Galaxy S to play really intensed games like MC4 & Asphalt 8 at full graphics. I rmb he enabled Zram and used HellyBean. Does the Galaxy S Plus also handles the same perfomance? Or isit better even without zram and that ROM?

I have the "S plus" and would by it again
I have got the i9001 "plus" for several years now and i realy love it. There is a great developer community and KitKat is quite stable on it.
The only problem is the small amount of RAM but as far as i know its the same on i9000.
yea 100mb free ram on i9000
100% s plus

Many differences betwin i9000 and i9001. On stock rom they are not actual now. On custom rom i9000 is better, i think. i9000 supported tv-out on modern custom roms, i9001 does not supporting tv-out on custom roms. i9000 have one of the finest audiochip Wolfson, it give you very good sound quality, i9001 have not Wolfson chip. With hellybean rom on i9000 you get up to 439Mb RAM, i9001 about 400Mb max. 3D performance of PowerVRSGX540(i9000) is more then Adreno205 (i9001). i9000 support usb otg host (with ext power), i9001 have not supporting usb otg.
But i recommended you look to Samsung Galaxy SII, cause it have 1Gb RAM. 512Mb ram not actual in the last modern games.

Specs is what I'm concerned about. Other people say even though the S4 Mini is a Dual-core device, it still outperform the S3 LTE in benchmarks in Antutu.
Also, the screen res is a plus too. qHD vs HD resolution.

Hm that´s weird. Well if you look at the link you see there are very few (good) points for the S4 mini, so when talking specs you should probably choose the S34G. My sister has the S4 mini and it´s a lot slower, and the screen is (in my opinion) not better when using it.
Mini is sheet. Why? Mini is mini. S3 will be always S3. Buy S III but i9300 for better ROMs and developers

S III International has for example S5 ROMs(Lite and full), S4/N3 ROMs, official support from Cyanogen Mod(I had HTC One S C2 before and I know how it is when you have less popular variant of phone). I own a HTC One S C2 too! Well, it got hard bricked for some reason (didn't detect my device as QDL).
Anyways, if everything's fine, i might go for the SIII LTE

I liked Sense 6 Prism on it
S3 LTE all the way. Just the bigger screen is enough reason to pick it.
LTE all the way here too, especially as there are so many excellent roms and tweaks already.
