Is there a way to "trick" the market into thinking my Nook Color is a legit tablet? There are some "tablet only" apps that I would like to download but they don't show up when I search for them on my Nook. Should I find the APKs else where and sideload?
Honeycomb apps will not work even if you do spoof your Nook.

Maybe emulate a tablet via the SDK on a PC, download apps then use Titanium Backup to side load them on Nook... No direct way I know of tho...

Thanks for the responses! Still new to all of this, so I appreciate the speed and patience!
I can't necessarily help you access tablet apps but you will also see many other apps the market will not allow you to download to the nook color with a flashed ROM. A fix for most of these is to download the app and install it on your android phone and use the free Bluetooth file transfer app from the Market to transfer the app to the nook. This puts the apk file on the nook color where you can run it and install it. Works just about every time.

On my rooted nc i have downloaded several apps but none of them show up in my extras section of my nook. I have to go into the market to see them. Is there a way to get them to show up? I don't really want to use an alternate home because I like the nook color user interface. I bought this as an ereader that i could add my fave apps to and i would like to keep the UI to reflect that but going into the market every time i want to launch an app is a pain. Is there a solution? Rooted with the latest auto nooter.

Have you tried turning the NC totally off by holding down the power button? I find that apps don't appear unless it has been turned off and on again.
That did it! Thanks!

If you are seeing "Super Manager(battery,SD etc)" by "ipop", that is not the real Super Manager.
I don't see Super Manager on my Froyo SD Nook either. But I see it as number one search result (Super Manager by Gpc) on my phone.
I don't have confidence these Market fixes are 100% complete. It seems to help with some apps, but I still seem to be missing a lot of stuff (had to download Firefox last night on my phone and copy to my Nook because it doesn't show up either).
yes, you're right the gpc one is what i was looking for.
i too see it in my phone. i have copied my phone's build.prop fingerprint to NC, but still no luck.
sigh, the app itself is no big deal, i just want to understand how market can tell if my device is eligible for an app.

Try using App Brain. I was able to get it through there (although I don't think it showed up in the regular market)
thanks, i do see it in appbrain, but whenever i click perform install, it redirected to market and then ended up with a msg "requested item is not found."

the easiest thing i found was backing up my apps using appmonster on my phone - then uploading them to my dropbox account- then installing them from my dropbox to my nook.
this of course only works with apps on your phone that you backed up; and it really is kind of a hassle if you are searching for new apps.
A TV Shows app was successfully loaded to my Droid X. I went back to the Android Market to download it to my Nook Color using CM7, but could not find it. Even wen to the Android Market from my PC, but it could not be found. Is it possible to somehow transfer the APK File from my Droid X to my Nook Color?

I use AppMonster: https://market.android.com/details?id=de.android_telefonie.appmanager
It will put the apk in the AppMonster folder on your SD card.
Then upload via Dropbox on my phone, download via Dropbox onto Nook Color, install, boom done.
That worked. Now if someone would just create a screen stretch app to make the image large enough for the Nook Color!
Thanks
Get the Spare Parts app! Then use google and search for spare parts make applications full screen samsung galaxy tab!
Although using this app can make other apps act weird! (Warning)
I tried to download facebook ( it might have been a facebook widget) but it told me my phone is not compatible with this app. I couldnt even download it from the market
Is there a way to fool the market that I have a phone and not a nook tablet?
I download facebook app to phone then used root explorer and copied from /data/apps to dropbox

That sounds like a great idea. If only I didn't own an iPhone. Lol. Can anyone send me the apk please? Or is there a way to trick the market that I have a cellphone instead of a Nook?
I have an app on my phone, but it is no longer available on the Google Play Store. Is there anyway I can get this out of the Vivid so I can move it to a different phone (Samsung Galaxy Note)? I want the app, but I can't really find anywhere to download it.

If your rooted yo can get a root explorer and navigate to /data/app and copy the app to your SD card
From there put it on your computer then on your other phone...or Bluetooth it over

Blue FTP
Download Bluetooth file transfer by medieval software from play store. In that application, you will find an option like send app. Basically, this software converts the app installed in your phone to .apk file and sends it to the other phone you want. This will help.

Lol it doesn't convert it apps stay as .apks on phones, so it just grabs the app and sends it
Good suggestion though, does the app require root?

Yeah, id like to try the blue tooth thing, does it need both phones to be rooted?
NO Root required. Just install the app and shoot..works well on Stock ICS, CM 9.1.0 stable, CM 10 Experimental, Thunderbolt, Slim ICS, Chemeleon 1.1 (tried and tested by me).. no bugs known..
You can use root explorer or try apk extractor both work very well.
