[REF] Using the Work of Others [Update: 12/14] - Atrix 4G Android Development

Ever since the Atrix bootloader was unlocked, we've had significant problems with developers copying work without permission. Most of the offenses were completely innocent. Still, I seek to clarify XDA's rules on the matter with this thread.XDA Rule #12If you are developing something that is based on the work of another Member, you MUST first seek their permission, and you must give credit to the member whose work you used. If a dispute occurs about who developed / created a piece of work, first try to settle the matter by private message and NOT in open forum. If this fails then you may contact a moderator with clear evidence that the work was created by you.
Convincing evidence will result in copied work being removed. If there is no clear evidence you created the work then in the spirit of sharing all work will remain posted on the forums.
These rules apply to all software posted on XDA unless that software comes with a license that waives these rules.A few clarifications, tips, and explanations:
Recognize that all non-source ROMs are based off of Motorola's original development work. Since these ROMs use the same base, they inevitably feel similar.
Any ROM release must offer something unique or different than previous ROMs. One cannot navigate to the thread for an already-built ROM, look at the feature list, implement it into a stock build, throw a theme on it, and release it. Themes do not qualify a ROM as a separate release. If you wish to copy a ROM and theme it, please release a theme in the "Themes & Apps" forum. Please do not copy a ROM, add one feature and a theme, then release it.
All ROM developers must ask permission from other developers if any work is copied. Ask permission via the XDA private messaging system. If the developer does not respond or refuses permission, you may not use his/her work.
All developers who suspect copying violations without permission should please report the issue via private message to kennethpenn.
Users should not post messages like "this is a copy of _____'s work" in threads that contain copied work. Instead, report the post or private message kennethpenn and the matter will be handled appropriately.

It seems that some users are struggling with the concept of plagiarism here on the Atrix boards. Let me clarify one thing:
You may not ever release another person's work (even if you modified it) without their consent BEFORE posting.

It's to avoid clutter and non-Dev post in the Dev section.. If you have a question, post it, don't post everywhere trying to get your 10 posts.

It is not hard to find 10 solid places to answer someone's questions or help a fellow out.
The big push to get to the elusive #10 shouldn't be sprinkling the forums with dribble like this garbage.

Monkun, you do not have permission to access this page. This could be due to one of several reasons:

Well just start posting in the forum and make atleast 10 posts so that you can post in that thread
I know this is frustrating but these are the rules you have to have atleatst 10 posts before posting there
But only the developer of that rom would be able to solve your problem so you have to ask your question there
Now I have 10 post but I can't access there post

[README] SuperSU forums

So SuperSU now has it's own subforum here on XDA now!
Main threads
SuperSU STABLE
This is the original main thread. It's about the last release that has made it to the Play store. It also lists the complete changelogs, including those of the beta releases. If you don't know where to post your comment or question, this is usually the place.
SuperSU BETA
This thread is meant specifically for discussion of the latest beta release. These may or may not be newer than the latest stable release. Sometimes there is active beta development, sometimes new things go directly to stable, and sometimes it's just quiet development wise for both versions.
Developer discussion
This thread is mean specifically for discussion regarding SuperSU for developers. This goes much deeper technically than the STABLE and BETA threads, and is meant to separate the important developer stuff from the more user-focused threads.
How-To SU
This thread is meant specifically for discussion regarding my How-To SU guide, aimed at developers. See the thread for further information.
Additional threads - bug reports, feature requests, etc
It is certainly not needed to create a separate thread for every little thing. However, please do check if a thread regarding your question, comment, bug report, or feature request already exists before posting anything.
If you are reporting something about the beta version, please check if the issue exists on the latest stable version. If it does, the post should go to the stable thread, not to the beta thread.
There is no strict set of rules about whether you should start a new thread or post to the main threads. Use your best judgement. If an issue seems persistent across a number of SuperSU versions without getting solved, it affects a large number of users, or generates a lot of discussion, then maybe it does deserve its own thread.
If you have posted a new thread, please report that fact to either the stable or beta threads, so both myself and other active users can monitor just these two threads instead of the entire subforum.
When you post something, either to a new thread or an existing one, please include as much information as possible. Such as which version you are talking about (latest is not a version number), if you have tested other versions, what your setup is - device and exact firmware information welcome -, exact reproduction steps explained as if the readers are five years old, etc. Help us help you.

ROM cm 12 nightlies. Q and A

Post questions and troubleshooting.
http://download.cyanogenmod.org/?device=mb886
Motorola atrix HD mb886
Not to be a hater, but if this is a Q&A thread it belongs in either the Q&A or General, not Development.
From http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1805891
BEFORE POSTING ANY THREAD IN THE DEVELOPMENT SECTION, PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING:
If you have developed a ROM/Kernel/Device Hack/Mod, or are working with others to do so, the development forum is somewhere to discuss and share ideas, post useful feedback and logs or crash dumps, and to discuss a common goal developers are trying to achieve.
It is NOT the place to post your question because it gets higher traffic, or because more experienced users frequent it. Doing this just annoys those who are working on the device, and drives them away. Developers don't want to wade through 20 threads of "Help me urgently" to find their threads for porting and fixing camera issues etc. Similarly, if a thread is designated as discussion for developers say, porting a camera fix, please do not post in there asking "When will it be ready?", "Can I flash this yet?" etc. This is both completely disrespectful to those working on the project (you evidently haven't read the important posts in the thread), and also is making it harder for developers to find comments from other developers or testers when required.
Similarly, don't make loads of "Thanks for your work here" posts in an active development thread. It's just as annoying to developers as asking when something will be ready. If a ROM is complete, then go ahead and thank the developer if you wish, but don't go into threads for devs only, and interrupt it to post "thanks". It's basically spamming, and is treated as such.
If you are posting in development, you should have read every sticky and notice there, and should be actively developing or helping in the development of something. Developing isn't installing a ROM, or using a tweak, it's creating a ROM or other hack or tweak. If you haven't read for several days before starting out on XDA, you are likely about to ask something already solved. I registered on XDA when I first wanted to post, and that was to join in a discussion on something. Sure, join up and ask a question, but read the information available in General and Q&A first, as your question will have been asked before. Search is your friend here, become familiar with it.
Regarding when to post in development if you are not actually developing something, there is one occasion where it's acceptable. If you find a leak of a new ROM, which isn't already posted, and you verify it's legitimacy via either running it, or based on the source you obtained it from, then this is assisting in development, and should be posted in development. If you want to ask when a leak will be available use search first, then if not already in discussion, open a thread in general or Q&A.
If you have a problem flashing a ROM, this is NOT related to development. It's up to you to determine if it is specific to a particular ROM, and post useful information in that developer's existing thread for the ROM. If it happens on more than one ROM, and isn't a known issue (remember you should read several times more words than you post), then find out what you are doing wrong. Check guides written by others, try to repeat the problem and see if it happens every time. Something needs to be reproducible to be fixed effectively.
Once you have identified what you need help with go to the device Q&A forum (general if device lacks one), and make a clear, informative thread that explains the issue, and what you have tried doing to fix it. Did you re-download the ROM? Did you ask a friend to flash it for you, to reduce chance of user error? What steps (exactly) did you follow? What errors did you see (exact wording)? Did you double check all the steps? Did you do a wipe or hard reset?
If you make a clear, concise, yet detailed post, you will find help forthcoming, and should get the problem sorted very quickly. If someone suggests you try something, report back on what happened, did it work etc. Then, next time someone has this issue and searches, they will find this and have a verified and tested solution.
So remember... before you start a thread in development, ask yourself what you are developing?... If you can't answer, then stop, step away from the post button, and think about where you are posting. Would it be better in General or Q&A, or is some more time with your best friend, search, required?

I don't really get the meaning of the ORIGINAL, I think I must post in the wrong place
hi @YumeMichi
first of all i'd like to say that its good to see everyone trying to lift up the burden of compiling something for the community instead of just pushing the burden on shoulders of specific people only, but there are some points/rules that you should keep in mind:
>the ORIGINAL development section is a place that belongs to some work which is original (made by the op himself/herself), commits also should be original ie. you should have your name in place of author. not everything belongs to orignal dev section.
>you should give proper credits to the main devs in the op who actually worked on getting it up, like you forgot to give me credit for kernel and @martinusbe and his team for slim rom.
>only post tested/working builds on xda and if the build is UNOFFICIAL then you should never redirect bug reports to the community or official bug report section, so try to mention and keep them in the thread only.
>If the orignal Developer hasnt released his stuff on xda "yet" then there has to be a reason behind it and you shouldnt release it before him, always ask him first. you just included R21 (i guess) in your build which i havent released yet on xda.
keep these few things in mind, after all its a community and we are here to help each other to make the most out of our device.
EDIT: ask any mod for help, they'll help you out in moving the thread.
