I have recently and the first time flashed CM7 (nightly #183) and most things work really well. except I can see the backlights for the buttons are on always, very dim but on, hence a short battery life.
I have since flashed #185 and no difference I can see.
Anyone?
Cheers
That's the backlight notifications, the dimmed setting is actually the most battery friendly.
Go into Menu,Settings, Cyanogenmod settings, Interface, LED notifications. Look under "Unconfigured for the app you want to disable the backlight led notification on and click on it. Click on LED Mode and select "Force LED off" and select save. (You should notice that a Miscellaneous tab appears under the "Unconfigured" tab. Once you configure an app it'll move from the unconfigured tab to the Miscellaneous tab)
Great thanks, that worked a treat
Thanks both

Hi everybody,
I already tried this with no answer in Smartphone genereal discussion. I will try it here, because it is thing which really pisses me off. I want to have clock (with date, unread sms or answered calls) on my screen all the time. Ideally without backlight.
An example can be seen on attached image on some bloody Nokia. Is there any way how to achieve this or similar? Thank you!
No sir. Windows Moble doesn't handle the display like that. If it's on, and displays the click piece, the display is on. If you lock the phone (hold the red/end button for 3 seconds), if you tap a button the display will turn on half-lit and will display the time.

OK, I can't say I'm surprised. But wouldn't it be possible to let the display on just without backlight? Or with backlight on minimal power?
That type of display (image) is a little different from whats used now, so they work differently. My first phone the screen was always on displaying the clock and such.
I am sure theres a way to write or find a program (havent looked) that just uses the backlight at its minimal power setting like when things time out before the screen goes off again. It will eat battery though.
yes you can! ...but u need adding extra software, e.g. "automatic keylock" that you download from http://maniac.fschreiner.de.
from their web:
With Automatic Keylock, you can add an automatic keypad lock and an idle screen saver like on most other mobiles phones to your Windows Mobile powered smartphone.
Features include:
The timeout for keypad lock and screen saver can be configured seperately for applications and homescreen.
You can exclude applications of your choice from the automatic keylock.
Either use keypad lock or device lock.
On profile changes to several profiles (Headset/Car/Handsfree/Charging), several actions can by taken.
Additionally, the screen saver has some nice features:
The screen saver lines can be configured in respect to content and font size.
It can show the current time, date, the amount of missed calls and messages, information from CellProfileSwitcher and a phone status line which contains information about the battery charge level, the signal strength level and the current profile.
A line with status icons for the most important information can be displayed.
Upon a missed call or a missed message, the screen saver can be configured to do some action (backlight blink).

Just the results of my experiments with this always-on screen saver:
- Using Auto KeyLock - works fine, is free
- Battery life didn't change much. Altough I don't switch-off the phone in the night, it takes approx. 2 days to discharge the battery (what is not important to me, because I charge it every day). Before this it was about 2.5 days
- The only disadvantage I realised is that I can't use keylock. Now keys are "unlocked" by pressing home button (every other just switch the backlight to "full-on")
So I would recommend this time & missed screensaver to everyone who doesn't like to wear watches

well.. actually i dont use the clock-screensaver option. i simply use it for auto-key-locking and to say it works just flawless. i then unlock by the standard two-button combination. anyhow... nice application!

Yup, but if you use classic keylock, backlight (and also the display) goes off
I remember when the Milestone got one of its updates, Motorola set it up so that the notification light would only pulse when the screen is off. This is helpful because it can be very distracting, and besides which, there is already a notification bar displaying the same information.
Is there any way I can do the same with the Nexus One, and suppress the glowing trackball only when the screen is off?
Thanks
C
If you are on cyanogen you can. You can change the colors too.

Yes I'm already on CM6 and I'm loving the custom trackball colours. But I can't find an option to disable it when the screen is on. Could you direct me to this feature? *EDIT: I found it, "always pulse" is in the Advanced menu. I think the behaviour is a bit wonky though because I already had it disabled and I was still sporadically getting pulses with screen on. I will have to test this further.
Also I'm wondering how CM6 comes up with the list of apps whose colours I can customize. I'm running the Trillian Beta and it pulses white for notifications, but there is no option to customize it in-app and Trillian doesn't appear in the package list for custom colours. I'd love to customize that one too.
Okay I just experienced it again. I was using androidVNC when a text message came in. The ball started glowing green even though the "always pulse" option was disabled. I went into Settings to confirm as much. I checked the option and unchecked it, and then the pulsing stopped.
So it seems that sometimes the OS "forgets" and pulses the trackball anyway even though the screen is on?
ive got the complete opposite problem, sometimes for me it doesnt pulse and sometimes it does only wen the screen is on. but it seems as if it does watever it wants to. must be some sort of problem... also mine doesnt pulse the colors i ask it too as if it doesnt get that i just got an email and i want to pulse it blue instead just white. it seems messed up
Hi everyone !
LG 2X/Black Notifications is an app that handles incoming notifications and uses the LED buttons on the device to notify the user of any missed notifications. LG Optimus 2X (P990/P999/SU660), LG Optimus Black (P970) and LG Optimus 3D (P920) is supported. It does not require root if the required files has the proper permissions, if they do not root is required to change them (currently the latest update for T-Mobile G2x and LG Optimus 3D). It should be usable on all ROMs (not tested though). CyanogenMod7 has its own LED-notifications which has to be disabled if you wish to use this app.
Features
Built-in support for Gmail/SMS/MMS/Missed calls
Support for any activity that generates notifications by using Accessibility
Configurable pulse and vibration for every notification
Set the default touch LED brightness
Charging indicator
How the app works
The app is in an idle state and will do nothing until the device receives a notification.
When an notification is received and the screen is on and not in lock-screen, the accelerometer sensors will be started and used as a way to detect user activity. If the sensor is triggered the feedback will be cancelled. If the sensor is not triggered and the screen is turned off the feedback will start.
If the screen is off the feedback will be delayed for 2 seconds. The reason for this is because some notifications might turn on the screen and in turn will cancel the feedback, so the delay will hopefully prevent this. If nothing happens during the delay the feedback starts at once.
The feedback will repeat until it is timed out or the screen is turned on.
If you have any questions and/or bugs to report about the app don't hesitate to post a reply to this thread or send me a message and I'll answer them as soon as possible. I'm also open for suggestions of features to implement. However due to limited time at the moment new features may take a while to be implemented.

It's at the bottom of the first post, I've clarified it a bit now.
Thanks!! I've been using this since beta 0.3
Just a request...
Can accelerometer be disabled ? Cos i may be picking up the phone but not looking at the screen at all.
And, can the App icon be reverted to have transparent background (like in the early betas)
Cheers

An option to disable accelerometer could be added, but then you would get the pulse for every incoming notification even if you've looked at them (if you were using the phone when you got them). The accelerometer is disabled when the screen is off or in the lock-screen (if you use another lock-screen than the default this might not be true though) so that if you receive a notification and then move your phone around without unlocking it the pulse should still start. So generally the accelerometer shouldn't be a problem, but if you really want an option for it I could add one
I changed the appearance of the icon since it couldn't be seen on Market because it has a white background. I also preferred the old look But it might be possible to fix it somehow, I'll note it down and look at it when I have time.
Nice app man... has solved all problems with notifications led
Thanks
managed to work, would prefer a led like i had in my X10 =/, but its great
So far works great. Thanks for the share mate! I'll try it for a couple more days and I'll be sure to leave you a comment in the market.
Nice App!
Keep going!
thanks for the effort man!
hi
really nice app
After the most recently update of Handcent SMS it's possible to choose Handcent as the default messaging application, and by then disable the stock messaging application. But when you do so, LG 2X/Black Notifications doesn't work when you receive a message. Do you think you can fix this in a future update?
This app can "listen to" other application's notifications. Did you try to enable the "monitoring" for Handcent ? (notification > select monitored activities)
Great work!

Hi,
first of all i would like to say a big thanks to the developer xigzil of this great app, it always worked reliably on my LG P990.
Now i have changed my device to Samsung Galaxy S2 and wanted to ask xigzil if is possible to make this app work with?
I would really appreciate it and with a high probability of many other too.
Thanks in advance.

For the charging monitoring can you make it so that as the charge gets closer to 100% more of the LEDs are on.
For example 0-30% the menu LED is on 31-60% Menu and Home LED on. 61-90% Menu Home and Back LED are on. And 91-100% all 4 LEDs on. Somthing like that.
OR even if they could even pulse kinda like the battery icon at the top of the screen does where it will fill in blocks (if that makes sense)
Suggestion
Hi,
I love this application. But I have a suggestion. I have Go SMS Pro and the screen turns on when I receive a message. After the screen turns on, the notifications stop, even if I turn the screen off!
Could you add an option to make the notification works until there aren't any notification left?
An example, I'm at work and I receive a message, I turn the screen on to see who send me a message, but I don't read it. It stays unread (the notification in the top bar stays there). And then I turn off the screen to see the message when I have the time. But the notification stops. I what the notification never stops until I read the message. I don't mind if the notification is working even if I using the phone.
Thanks
Hello guys, i have a serius issue with my Optimus 2x.
I wanted to disable the led buttons brightness so i found the "LG 2X/Black/3D Notifications" app to disable the led lights (i set up the brightness to 0), but what i realized was is that it drains a lot of battery, A LOT!!! (29%) after 4 days of usage.
So i wanna ask you if you know any mod that i could flash on my rom to disable the led buttons light....
(My rom is CyanogenMod-7 - NIGHLTIES)
Thanks in advance
I think the app your are using, other than being able to adjust led brightness, it also listens to notifications, which is actually its main feature. And this feature is what actually draining your battery.
Try this app called: touch key lights, this app is solely to adjust led brightness.
Cheers.
Wow great hope that will work, thanks man, cheers ;D
Just bought as asos rog phone 2 1TB variant setup the device everything is fine but the back RGB lighting logo is not working at all tried to find the control as in websites but do not have it i even got an update and restarted the phone still nothing is there something that i have missed ?
Thank You in advance
First try to add it to quick settings of your notification bar by clickong that pen button next to the settings icon
If you couldnt find it, then try to use armory crate, in console tab scroll to the bottom and trun on system lighting
Btw after you turn it on you also need to edit its setting and check the option to light the LED up while the screen is on, otherwise as default it is OFF
Ps. Hope you'll have a great experience with the 1tb beast!
