Anyone got video calling working yet?
I have the GPRS/3G setup but I get 'failed video call' every time I try.
R
Suggests that
1) Your 3G settings arent correct
2) Your not recieving a 3G signal
3) The Recipicant doesnt have a 3G phone

I've tried yesterday - in fact it was super-international video call (from my UK mobile to Polish mobile while roaming in Greece . Worked with no problems at all. My suggestion would be to check if you have video call activated on your SIM card.
Ah - did not realise you needed it activated on the SIM - thought it just used the 3G connection...

no problem with vdo calls
i have no problem with the 3G vdo calls at all. must be your setting.
How do you tell if your SIM card has video calling activated?
I'd love to try it out when the 8925 arrives.
Thanks!

Pardon me for a noob question ...
is that feature an extra fee addon service from the phone company ??
Must have been the 3G availability in the area - worked first time in the pub last night

Depends on particular operator, but I don't expect anyone is charging extra for that. At least not in UK.
I'm using Nadavi's Dialer. Cannot start a video call, I am displaying H on my Kaiser which is faster than 3g. I logged into my AT&T account online and added the Video Share for 5.99 a month. What am I doing wrong? I tried it with another AT&T person who had the same 5.99 feature on his account and was in a 3g network. When I try it, it says failed what do you want to do. Make regular call, sms, mms, yadadadaa. PM me if you know the answer thanks otherwise just post a reply please thanks
Nadavi's dialer is not able to make video calls - you need the HTC dialer.
The Tilt is not capable of video share. Most of the Samsung and some LG phones have video share.

Oh yes it does. This is the one I am using:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=365629
Ok on Nadavis phone dialer theres a button for video call and also if you hit menu you get Video Call Options. Pretty sure it's built in to the dialer
Don't know if this is Kaiser only, but since I'ts a kaiser thats giving me grief here goes...
We're using a mobile switchboard and as part of the group answering our main phonenumber I'd really like to be able to transfer calls with my Kaiser...
Normal phones (as in my last Nokia E61i as well as my N95) gives me the options to park the current call, dial my colleague and then "transfer".. I can't find this option on my Kaiser..
Is this option not available in WM6 or is it HTC that has "removed" it? Or perhaps, is there a thirdparty software to help me with it
Go to Start / Settings / Phone / Services / Call Forwarding.
I'm talking about call transferring not call forwarding..
Transfer = I answer the call, call another contact & transfer it to him..
Forward = all my calls go to another contact and/or number...
Can I push this up, cause I'm desperatly looking for this function on the kaiser.
Maybe there's some addon or a special key combination to activate call transfer on the htc kaiser?
yep - this is possible but is network dependent.
you need to put the call on HOLD.
call your colleage/2nd party.
CONFERENCE the call (so you and 2 callers can hear each other)
then YOU hang up - they are left connected and chatting (but at the expense of YOUR bill!!!)
Hope this helps you.

Thanks for the answer! I will try this when I'm back in my company.
The costs are no problem because we call each other in the company for free and the call transfer is only needed to redirect customers to the right contact but I think it's a long way round when there could be a simple option in the menu (like hold and conference). Every other mobile I know offers a direct way to do this (either a menu item called transfer or by pressing a number).

Tested it and it doesn't work. It simply quits the complete conference.
Again, maybe there's a special dialer which supports it or some kex combination to press.
I really need this feature!
Solved!
So here's the way it works on wm devices:
Get the first call and put it on hold.
Make the second call and press the number 4 followed by the green phone button.
The second call is now transferred to the first and you are finished.
Great thanks to my phone provider ONE who came up with it!
Nice find! Does not work on my Q-Mobile 1.2 Tilt with AT&T.
I get "cannot conference calls"
I contacted AT&T and they said there is no way to do it.
I did read that if your call comes in using a Google Grand Central number you can transfer it using Grand Central specific codes.

Yes, it's a "feature" that your Phone Provider must support in order to use it.
I get "cannot conference calls".
I know for a fact that the same sim when used in my old v v old ericsson r380 world phone allows me to conference multiple people.
but my kaiser (running stock) says the above message.
how can i conference calls? the phone looses part of its utility value if I am unable to use this feature. someone got any tips/ tricks for me?
p.s. i initiate both the calls...
conference call is not the same as call transfer!
You can start a conference as described by firstbuddha a few posts ago in this thread (you just shouldn't hang up if you want to stay in the conference). There's also a menu item for conference call.
If you use my method with pressing 4 and the green phone button you are trying to transfer a call which is only possible when your phone provider allows it.
I get one Samsung GT-P7300 when I insert SIM card inside I get 3G networks
and everything is OK.
But I can't make or receive Voice calls.
Is there chance to install something or change my ROM to push My Tablet to make normal voice calls, as we can with Galaxy 7(P1000)
Thanks in advanced
from reading a ton of posts in this forum, my impression is that nobody managed to do that so far.
You could always use GrooVe IP with google voice.
At the moment don't believe it can be done. However, you have options such as Viber and others that can do some sort of call.
Sent from my Samsung Galaxy S II using XDA App
Is there any possibilities in future that ICS may be able to have gsm phone function?
It may depend on if P7300 has gsm voice build-in hardware...
Anybody try to disect the phone apk from galaxy tab 7 and see whats what
I really don't see the need for voice calls on a tablet? Only situation I could think of is in the car when using it as a navigation system?

Some of us would like to double our tab as a phone. I'm still trying to find a tab that has calling capabilities.

How about hardware capability?
there is chance to do that? I mean, maybe someone can confirmed that built in modem has a capability for gsm calls?

I believe the hardware is capable of making voice calls because the early test units had this capability. Of course they did have a sdcard also, so it is possible that the radio hardware was also changed. But I believe it's disabled in baseband or our baseband is just missing this functionality.
And i also have a question, are GT8.9 and GT10.1 using the same radio hardware? I believe i have read somewhere that they do, but i can't find this information anymore. If they are, then we could try P7500 KK4 baseband as it is reported that it has made voice calls.
Phone calls
Hey poisike,
I've tried the latest version of your ICS Alpha 1 release for the 3G Tablet, and in fact, i can :
Receive SMS
Send SMS (with a warning "not sent" as you mentionned)
Receive phone calls (with or without headset... it's working)
I can't make phone calls so far. It says "call ended" as soon as I hit the green handset button.
Not sure if it helps the author of this thread, because going to Alpha releases for someone you want to stay in contact might not be a good idea. But i wanted to let Poisike know that his last release was on the right track !
@Poisike : Sorry, i'm new to this forum, so i can't post yet in Android Dev threads
Wow, it's a very good news that ICS Alpha 1 release for the GT8.9 3G version can receive phone calls over GSM. It may mean that make a phone call is doable.
can you share the link of ICS alpha where incoming calls work?

This one :

Also just to be clear, it's an Alpha release... So you may have the incoming phone call working, but then be disapointed because Camera is not working or something else.

Good find, thanks! I actually tried it when i built the rom and it didn't work. It is not a priority for me at the moment, so i didn't test it more. Now i realised i had a wrong sim card in so i called the wrong number.
I installed the ROM but nothing not receive calls ... please help ...
I have also done so reset date. no. By calling the number to be fast busy ...
For the rest there are always the same video problems in the rotation. Wifi and 3G are OK. Opening speed OK. I miss GSM calls ... this ROM would be just the TOP with the GSM CALLS!

Are you sure your SIM card can receive call or is it a data only subscription that you have ? Because i can't receive call on my Data only SIM card... only if I put my GSM SIM from my phone
here is how I set it up.
I've the ClockworkMod Recovery v5.0.2.6.
-Reboot in recovery
-Wipe menu, wipe all data
-Install Rom from zip + wipe
-Install GoogleApps from zip
Nothing I have followed your instructions. My gtab 8.9 has the following characteristics:
Recovery v.5.1.2.6-CWM (I do not think is a problem to run wipe and install with this version)
I put sim in the phone and then work is also enabled with calls.
Give me a hand please ...

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1252149
I think is lame that you would have to login into Google+ just to use video calls.... I just use Skype
Sent from my LG-P925 using xda premium
Ya I think that's the only video calling we get with this phone is google+ or third party apps like skype ill have to lookin to it
What abt the normal video call option using 3G network?
I was able to do that with my Galaxy S without any issue.
Anyone ever tried video calling in Thrill 4G.

Hey everyone,
I have a bit of a weird issue here. I have a note 8 from Verizon which everyone knows comes unlocked. I am using it on AT&T and everything works well except for one thing. For some reason when I receive phone calls from people, it shows on the screen with a + sign in front of the phone number. So if someone calls me that is in my contact book, it will not show their name since there is no + sign in my contact book. So also now in my call history if I try to call that number back it sounds like it is trying to make an international call. I have no idea what is happening. Data, texts and calls work but instead of getting a call from 9999999999 I get +9999999999.
Please help me out here, I love the phone!!
Zachary
I've read about this issue before. Googling 'incoming calls show +' gives you some leads.
In short it seems to be related to Dialling Assistance settings (note spell error, is as in settings...). I couldn't find those via the regular settings (used to be accessible via settings in Phone app), but I could via the app 'Shortcut Master (Light)' ...
Search for 'dialing' and then launch:
'com.android.phone.operator.usa.AssistedDialingActivity'. My settings (N950U1) are as per SS...
Try playing with these settings.
