Hey all,
my phone got a bit wet, and then the screen started to act weird, it went all blue, and blanked. Then i pulled the battery out. Now the screen wont turn on. I can hear the starting sounds and screen sounds so touch screen is working, but i the screen is all black..
I screwed the whole phone open and gave it time to dry, but it didnt help.
Is there any way to put it to tv out mode without using the screen?
And I had MIUI rom on it when it stopped working, but i flashed stock android 2.3.4 on it.
So, any ideas? Would be much appreciated=)

Says it all really, makes life a bit difficult! Not much of a reply but liquid & electronic equipment dont really mix.
The plug of the screen is securely buttoned ?
See it is true that all will end because of water.

About a month ago I got my Kaiser screen replaced as it was broken, now all of a sudden the screen is all whitish and I can hardly ready whats on it!
Is the screen broken again??
I'm fixing to replace the screen in a Kaiser i bought used with a broken screen. From the reading i've done, it sounds like one of the cables to the screen is loose. Trying pressing on the middle of your keyboard and see if anything happens. The big ribbon cable has a connector there.
hmmmm coming to think of it when I pressed the middle of the screen it used to do some funny effect (like when you press your TFT monitor) but now nothing happens!
Is your screen something like this?

last night i was woken up by a text, i looked at my phone and all of a sudden the screen went crazy. Started scrolling up and down (like a bad signal/wrong format ntsc/pal on a tv). Everything got all messed up and lines and dashes all over, kinda like your screen, it started acting wierder when i began applying pressure on the top of the device by the earpiece and d-pad. So i soft-reset the device and it was still doing it while boot up, leading me to believe it wasn't a software issue.
So in my half awake state i just left it on my nightstand. I woke up and its perfectly fine now, even when i press all around the screen.. wierd huh?
I didn't notice anything like you descriped, touch screen and everything else worked like before. Only the colors were like on the picture. Tried hard reseting but didn't help. Phone is still under warranty so sent it to be repaired, i can post what they did when i get it back.
Thanks jrask. Thats exactly how it looks.
I think i have some bad news for you, the screen was damaged and needed to be replaced. I think it was cracked under the frame.
hey everybody, heres my issue, would like some thoughts on what to repair to fix it or if there is something i can try before i do..
i've been flashing over og droids to cricket for a little bit now, and love these phones. i flashed one for my buddy the other day and last night it fell off the couch literally 8 inches onto carpet and now his phone comes on but nothing shows up on the screen, the 4 buttons @ the bottom still work and i can navigate through the menus with the touchscreen it just has no picture?? i put my og droid next to his and went thru settings on mine as to navigate his to a factory reset and nothing has changed ;/ just wondering what needs to be replaced or if there is somthing i can bang it against to make it work again lol. thanks in advance for any help!!
It sounds like something broke in the fall, although 20 cm onto carpet doesn't sound very hard at all. Does the backlight for the LCD still come on?

Hi Guys,
I was setting up my note, had my emails in there and when I clicked on the account the screen just went black. Now I can turn it on but the screen will remain black, I can pickup calls and hear texts arriving but the screen is still black!
Anything I can do? Nothing happens when I try and load recovery mode!

You just bought it?
Sounds like a hardware issue...
Arrived 30 minutes ago It was working and now isn't
And where did you bought it?
I think flashing a new firmware won't show any result because you said you can still handle it but the screen stays black.
Expansys.com usually good! Yeh I think it must be hardware rather than software....
It's now working again??
And what have you done?
I put the protective film back on, and maybe it realised it didn't want to leave me and so started working! I'm still going to get a replacement one just in case though

Good call. I would too!
Stopped working again....
take the battery out for 5 minutes then try again
how much charge is in the battery? have you let it fully charge up?
It said 66% last time it was on. You think charging fully will sort it out?
Thought this was going to be an easy repair. Obtained a new screen from Repair Universe (Really quick). Followed the video and several take apart guides. Put the phone back together, turned it on, Get the Motorola Logo screen, bottom keys light up and then the screen goes blank, Have to pull the battery to shut it down. SO, I put the old screen back in, turned it on, Motorola Logo again and the then the screen dims to where you can hardly see what's there, but it goes through the boot process. Anybody have any ideas as to what the hell I did to screw it up? Swapped the screens around several times hoping I'd remember something and magic would happen but no such luck!! Thanks, Howie
Replacing the Bionic's LCD is one of the simplest phone repairs I've ever done. It's possible you got a faulty screen, or it's possible that the LCD is not your problem. I've purchased from them a few times but never had a problem...might want to check what their return policy is.
Yeah, plug and play! Should have taken 30 minutes tops? What has me puzzled is the old screen dims right out now so I screwed something up? Sorta hoping this happened to someone else ans they figured it out before I send it in for repair.....

Couple questions I had which may help clarify a few things, and could help in troubleshooting or finding someone who had a similar problem..
Why are you replacing the screen, was the screen dimming before you tried the replacement or only after?
Are you running stock blur or are you rooted/rom'd?
Information like that can go a long way to diagnosing the actual problems.
It's rooted and it's not a stock rom. I bought the phone and the LCD screen was damaged, so I ordered a replacement. I could still use it with the damaged screen but it had several white lines going down it. I rooted the phone and loaded a different rom before I switched screens and it was fine until I switched lcd's.

It's probably a faulty LCD in that case, as long as the old LCD is working as it was. If not then perhaps you damaged the back light circuit.
The old screen doesn't work anymore. Correctly anyway. The old screen is real dim?

I would have to agree with brandogg, could be the back light that is having the problem and that is why the old broken LCD is going dim now.
I'm assuming that the dimness problem occured only after the install of the replacement LCD since you only mentioned the lines as being the original problem.
One thing you could check is if the auto brightness is enabled. I would disable that and set the brightness as high as it will go and see if you still have the dimness issues.
That's when the dimness started on the old screen, after I installed the new one. I'll try to check the brightness after work. Thanks for the idea. I'll post back.

Well back in February i smashed the screen on my vivd. Still wokred just a smashed screen, at that point i put it in the drawer and moved on. Well i just broke it out agian today and plugged it into my PC and now i only have backlight (no real screen) and the LED indicator is lit orange. My PC loaded the drivers fine, but ive never seen this. It worked after the drop (and used it a bit after as well) but never did the screen totally die.
Im assuming the phone is still alive, but do you think its anything more then a screen replacement? With the touch panel on the bottom im hesitant about replacing the screen myself, i think radioshack does screen fairly cheap. Thoughts?? Dead? Restorable?
