I have been looking around the forums and have great info. I love the revolution but it has way too much garbage on it and I hate the menu it comes with. I just did the upgrade to gb and rooted it to get wifi tether. I am just wondering if there is a really good article everyone recommends that goes into rooting and things you can do etc. thanks!
Get Launcher Pro. Google: benefits of rooting. Gingervolt is coming

The only launcherpro i see is launcher pro plus unlock is that the one?
Look on the development board, lots of stuff on rooting. You could install Revolt, or wait for RevoltBread (GingerVolt is funny, but it sounds like what you'd call a bunch of redheads on strike). Either way you can go ahead and root your phone.
After you root, you can get rid of bloatware by installing a root uninstaller. I use MyToolbox, which costs like $2, but there's free options too. I like MyToolbox because it lets you "(un)freeze" applications. That is, the app is "disabled" and won't run in background or show up in app drawer, but the .apk is still there and you can "reactivate" it whenever you want.
As for launcher replacements, I think ADW Launcher EX is by far the best option out there. Launcher Pro is good too, but it's not as good as ADW, imo.

I've been with all the different launchers and settled down on ADW EX. The sheer number of options are what made it a win (also, I use a derivative: VTL for my tablet).
I see alott of free launchers does anyone recommend any of them i see a adw launcher thats free

Get EX. It's well worth the few bucks. Being able to make different app "catalogs" and swipe through them in the app drawer is amazing. That feature alone is worth the cost.

Dude, its YOUR in that sense. -sigh- I'm a grammar Nazi, shhh.
I personally use good old HTC Sense 2.0 though. Couldn't really care about the speed or anything, its just for looks until I actually get off my ass back on to my ass to root my phone so I can put CM7/GB on it, and then use LauncherPro.

ADW EX for me. It was spb mobile shell 5 for a while. No gtalk for me.

I used LauncherPro until I switched over to Fission, now I just use the Android stock. I never really used LP features too much, the one I wanted to use would just freeze my phone.
I use Gtalk with my cousin and 2 other people, don't have too many friends with android phones and most of them don't like to use Gtalk. I love it. I know some Blackberry users and most of them are obsessed with BBM, I wish it was the same with Android and Gtalk. D:
Go launcher EX, and im using Gtalk
I use my xperia x8 default launcher.
And I prefer to use whatsapp instead of gtalk.
hey all,
I am running the tiamat hammerhead rom... I like it but right now there are not too many great themes for the xoom. A few color changing ones and the touchwiz port which i did like, but im down for something more. The best way to go about this short of doing my own theme is to get a good home launcher and use some custom animations and icon packs...
Here is the rub.. A lot of the home launchers are too phone-ish.. If that makes sense. Any suggestions? I was partial to ADW ex launcher but i looove the stock launching set-up. I mostly would like to maybe change animations, speeds, etc, but most importantly use icon packs. Any ideas for me or suggestions on good launchers with a stock home screen feel? I dont want my xoom to have a home screen like a giant phone lol
I just stick to stock until someone makes a launcher for honeycomb

I would recommend ADW EX, but since it hasn't been updated in 3 months and isn't fully compatible with 3.2...
Yeah adw ex doesn't work well with 3.2 at the moment. I believe the older adw (non ex) works but u gotta find an .apk for that

Not true, imo, ADW EX works great, so smooth with my config and I like having 6 screens. ADW settings is mostly disabled, meaning I can't change the size of icons, basically. But everything else works really well.

Yeah thy made a 3.2 compatible version today... Still not all the way there in my opinion and quirky as anderweb releases tend to be at first until they find all the bugs. Props to them for the effort but i am still not sold. Gonna have to just try the stargate theme coming out soon! Which looks badass!
Hi guys I didn't see anything about this yet in the forums so I was wondering ... since I have my phone rooted I can uninstall the unwanted apps .... I was thinking of uninstalling the original home screen and replacing with golauncher. Is this worth doing .. I need any pros and cons you guys can come up with ....so far I haven't been too successful with roms ... thanks

It's definitely worth switching in my opinion there's absolutely no down side, the stock launcher sucks and most others are customizable. Go launchers pretty good, I like adw better but it's all about what you prefer. Be careful if deleting stock apps they can be trouble if they're not deodexed.

I've tried a ton of launchers, if you want one that's quick and light on your battery i'd go with zeam launcher. Adw is more customizable and still very fast, go launcher felt a little slower to me but still a good option, launcher pro is okay but in my opinion slower than the others. You should try a few out until you find one that works for you...

+1 for Zeam!
I've tried dozens including Go but I always, always come back to Zeam. I like mine clean and fast and Zeam delivers.
If you want themes then definitely give Go a shot. TONS of devs on that one. And I wouldn't worry about battery. I keep Go installed so I can use Go Locker and have never had issues. /t

But, if you don't like the ICS/JB look, i'll recommend the Xperia S launcher.
If you want the lightest launcher, you should use LauncherPro.

Most of them will run more or less the same. If this is not happening, you have some tweak that is affecting the launcher.
Since the X8 has a horrible amount of RAM, redraws are bound to happen. So, what you want is a launcher that redraws in as little time as possible. Even in this respect if you have few apps installed, you won't see much difference.
When apps start to get added is when we see a difference. In this context, nothing comes close to Lightning Launcher.

Next Launcher. It's expensive (half price right now I think) but I really love it. The Go Team must be making a bundle but they keep the upgrades coming and are responsive to issues so it's well worth to me.
