Hi guys just wondering if it will be possible to port the nexus s rom to the galaxy. From what I can tell the hardware is pretty much exactly the same. I'm definitely willing to donate for this and will organise everyone else to I'm sure there are lots of people interested

This question has been asked several times already
theres a thread with ~200 replies that discusses this in general section.
Which of these roms will make my old heroc that my gf is currently using quicker to the touch with more battery life. she is currently running aospcm 234.
Seriously how much more aosp can you get.... I used my heroc for a whole year either running cm or something by the dev aosp. now I have jaybob, evervolv, kush deck, etc.... Can someone who has used these roms individually from a non biased standpoint tell me which to use and why? (refrain from fanboy banter)
In the meantime I'm going to put kush deck with jaybobs kernel on there.

Depending on the patience level of your girlfriend, you might want to refrain from Jaybob's kernal. The camera is sometimes intermittent.
If she just wants everything to work, you should consider AOSPs froyo, everything is rock solid stable.
I'm currently trying out Deck, I've used all of them and the only quirk that bothers me is sometimes the GPS signal gets lost. I've actually lowered the max cpu settings and it hasn't happened since...but I'm sure it will.

Although I have not yet tried deck, I have tried aosp's , cm7 (not the latest rc, tho), evervolv, and jaybob's. I would say that out out those, jaybob's was the most hassle-free. Just make sure to flash the .29 kernel so to avoid camera issues (which the .35 tends to have ).

Btw, this should be posted in the q&a section.....
Gin & Salsa
I have been on both. Although I used deck longer both Jaybob's and deck were both equally smooth and hassle free. I recently moved to the most recent CM7 release (not nightly) and love it. It's my new daily driver.
Good luck!

How, would anyone in general or q&a section be able to properly answer that question? And not to mention as promptly as you all just did.
at this point my question has been
answered already thanks a lot guys the heroc community is my favorite.
Just a side note. How do I get rid of the post since its bothering a few people. I think op should be able to delete all somehow right?

Your post in the dev section didn't bother me at all, I just told you it was in the wrong section (as an afterthought...) because there had been quite a bit of hoopla going on lately over that subject (non-dev related posts in the dev section) ... Not so much in the hero c threads, but still. as for getting answered, a lot of knowledgeable people read the q&a section simply because they like helping. You would definitely get answered, maybe not quite as promptly, but definitely.
You can ask a mod to delete the post if you like.
Gin & Salsa
we are here to help thats what xda is for as long as u dont post questions in development your fine if u have a specific question about a rom post it in that roms thread and youll get help alot faster and if it has to do with a bug it helps developers fix the rom to make it better. so please just dont start new threads in development asking questions.

99% of the people in here have tried most ROMs. And on top of all those still here, many of us still check these threads that finally moved on to bigger, better phones.

Cool..cool.. anywho I hear ya on the bigger and badder phones. I'm on evo shift now and love it. When I was on heroc still the best rom imo was aosps froyo. Might very well be still. But gf has heroc now and I want to make sure her phone can keep up with mine. honestly the hero gets better cell service then my shift does. anyways back to the point at hand.. The heroc scene blew back up and I'm excited about it. these deck roms have one hell of a reputation from what I'm gathering. But jaybobs sort of specializing in this phone vs the mass produced roms of kush. I wish I could grab some more opinions from you guys if you have the time.

And this is why q n a section fails. There should be a 24 post option in the development section where everyone I need to talk to is currently residing. You could call it "quick question". Go ahead use that... You're welcome

What the hell are you talking about? How did the Q&A section fail? It's been most helpfull to me.
Qna fails because I originally posted in development and got like five answers in an hour... they moved it to here and I haven't gotten anything but you in days.

For your GF, I'd ruu her back to stock unless she's a techie , then let her decide.. I spend my time trying all these roms for the heroc and I've yet to find one that doesn't have one problem or the other on my particular phone.. Right now I'm on omfgb and its pretty cool, but it has its own set of problems..
did we seriously just do a full 360 on this dude just an fyi the same people that post in development look around in q/a to help out and same goes for general its the exact same comunity. and not as maney people posted afterwords because you already had answers so why would someone reapeat what someone else has already said bottom line is read the forum rules and post in the correct section!
please watch this

I don't need to watch the noob video I follow xda on twitter.. I know the rules of xda and follow (mostly ^_^) them but have watched them be bent and broken. A feature where questions are temp posted and can be answered quickly would be cool. That's all I'm getting at. the qna section is very useful yes. ps did you notice that the percent of purple complaining about me posting in the wrong section was about equal to the number of thoughtful answers to my questions. Id say its not a problem half the time. No hard feelings. love xda the the users.

if u know the rules then post in the right section jesus its not that freakin hard

if we make a thread inside the dev section for answering questions it would defeat the purpose of THIS q&a section, wouldn't it.......one way to find out which rom is the most popular would be to scan the number of posts in each rom's thread. For instance, look at the amount of activity in the aospcmod gb thread. Easily the most popular rom.

For simplicity and stability, jaybob's aosp with the .29 kernel is pretty good. Very vanilla.

Hello. That's our 17. month with our devices. I hear somewhere 18 months total for developing officaly. Do you think that's last rom for sgs? I guess that is. And no chance for ice cream by samsung. Because they don't want to work for a new touchwiz again for our old sgs. Just my idea. What do you think?
Read somewhere that samsung wanna bring ics to sgs too. Maybe its the end for gingerbread but not for the develop of sgs.

Cyanogen team will continue developing anyway, so i'm not worried we won't get ICS for our devices
Impossible to say at the moment. It's been confirmed for the SGS2, but not the SGS (yet... ).
Hopefully the waiting game will prove successful for us.

No,it's not. Samsung has very few good phones( 512mb ram,1gz minimum, single or dual core,3.7 inches or more),5 or 6, so it would be a good move to bring ics to those.
So, just today I flashed RocketRom v19_1, when I wanted to get back to the thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1380284
it disappeared. Did something happen that the users should be aware of?
Dunno but kinda miss the topic too :S

One of the few threads I actually follow diligently.
Maybe some mod closed down the thread due to complaints by others devs or posters.
Should be back up soon. Eyebee70 is pretty thorough in giving credit where due.
Or Eyebee70 got fed up with all the *****in' going on in his thread and he closed it down...

If JKAY's complaint caused a delete by mods, I might rather limit my future support for him. If eyebee himself closed his thread after all the work he and the rest of the community put in, even worse... Why XDA would allow a thread to disappear without warning or at least a historical record (archive) is beyond my understanding.
its back.. thank you..
I know its early doors yet but will we see any of the features from the s4 ported over to our beloved note 1. I guess we will find iut once a s4 rom is release and we see what it contains but surely with the tallented devs we have within our forum we will hopefully see some new stuff. Fingers crossed.......

S-crap?
No need, personally i didnt find any of the new apps bringing anything we didnt already had. Rather look forward to googles developments.
My humble opinion.

So what was the purpose of opening the thread?
Asking a question and answering it yourself?
At least wait until a S4 ROM comes.
