--->>>>CM7 Nightly's Build's Discussion & Thoughts<<<--- - Atrix 4G Android Development

Please use this thread for all your discussion about the Nightly builds for CM7 for the Atrix. It is important to note that Nightly Builds are not for most Users
Things to know about Nightly Builds:
Not Stable releases
Will have bugs / issues
Not intended to be used as main everyday ROM
Are not Fully Supported like Stable Releases
Should not be used by people that are not Masters of ADB
You Should be comfortable enough to recover from soft bricks On your OWN
90% chance you will be wipping your data (factory reset) at some point and time
DO NOT REPORT ISSUES ON NIGHTLIES ON THE BUG TRACKERFAQ FOR ATRIX NIGHTLY'sNightly builds can be found here:
http://download.cyanogenmod.com/?device=olympus

Also would like to add that BACKUPS are your friend if you are not comfortable with t0dbld's sugestions. Thanks for starting this thread and for the teams dedication.
Is or are the Dev team also creating different tweaks/builds seperate from Cyanogenmod or will the teams work just be incorporated into the nightly builds?

Excellent! Allrighty, lets kick off this party with a bang. First off, thanks to all the Devs and others who made this a reality. Nightly builds = awesome. After installing this with the latest version of Gapps, everything is working beautifully. Very excited to see where this is going. Faux123's stopgap kernels WILL work with this build so far and I have tested them. Only thing I've noticed so far is that, for the first time for some reason, I am unable to buy an app from Market and bill it to my AT&T account. Option seems to have disappeared. I've heard of others discuss this, and I'm assuming that the change language to English fix will work with this, but haven't tried it yet. Umm...ring lock screen seems to be working with less lag than before. Other than that, have nothing else to report at this time. Thanks again all, and happy flashing!

Hi, May i know this rom can support the Fingerprint and the webtop?
what the different with another CM7 (non nightly ver) , quite blur here.
thanks.

You might find it being offered by someone willing to make a workaround to get it to work. Being that "Android" didn't put the fingerprint scanner in the phone and no other phone has one, you'll have to wait for someone to actually make a script that can be added to CM7.

Are we going to see nightlies on Rom manager?
-CM7.1 -B^-N Over Clocked via Faux123 1.45ghz V2.1 THANKS XDA DEV!

I'm already seeing the Nightlies on ROM Manager. In fact, just downloaded Nightly 3 and I'm installing as we speak.

I'm seeing things about "FM Radio" on the nightly change log. Does the atrix have FM Radio capabilities?

No it does not have capability

I've been running full #2 today, full wipe. Only problem I've had is battery life. I could get 24+ hours with the previous betas...I'll be lucky to get 10 at this rate. Nothing in the stats stands out. Guess I'll wipe and install #3 tonight and see how it goes.

Anyone getting Market FC all the time as soon as they try to download an application? Should I reboot my phone and see if that fixes the problem?

I got that when I updated to the stopgap version. Just use Titanium Backup to backup your market apk and then uninstall it. Restore it and use the "App Only" option and do not restore data. After its done simply open Market and add your account.
You're good to go after that.

I wasn't sure if I'd run into any challenges with the latest nightly, but nope! Running smooth as butter. Using faux's latest 1.45ghz OC kernel too. Didn't wipe from scratch, just cleared Dalvik cache and hoped for the best lol (and did a backup of course)

sublimejosh2000 = Dec 2010 join Date : # of posts 351 or aprox 35.1 a month
I think its safe to say that at least one user is not spending his life "flaming" others or making a lot of pointless posts, etc. Lets watch who plays police in these forums because as you can see not so many are doing it right them selves

I'm running #3 and its smooth as butter, thanks for the hard work y'all put into the atrix! Y'all rock

[ROM][KANG]CM9 ICS 10.1 WiFi Preview 03/04/12

Hello everyone,
as the old KANG build that got posted here is very old I've decided to compile my own builds.
As many people demanded a newer build you can use mine.
Flashing this may brick your device and there is no support from either Cyanogen and his crew or me. You do this on your own responsibility.
This build is not final - it's more an alpha build. If you decide to use it you shouldn't care about bugs.
I'll keep posting updates every day (if there is any reason for it). There will be no guaranteed support and I won't add user-specific features for anyone.
This is not my work - it's mostly from Pershoot & Cyanogen. This build uses Pershoot's GitHub as base for the device.
If you like the builds you're welcome to donate for some Club Mate / Beer and new hardware.
Works:
WiFi works
No more SOD or display flickering
Buttery smooth
HQ Videoplayback
USB Transfer - use the MTP mode and stop complaining about ICS
Doesn't work:
Camera doesn't work
I will not provide detailed Changelogs. Read CM9 Gerrit ICS & P4Wifi for that.
You can find the official app in the Android Market for 1 €:
https://market.android.com/details?id=de.messerschmidt.tabkang
It supports direct reboot (normal and into the recovery) and downloading the newest rom (incl. version-check) from my private FTP.

Installation:
Flash CWM if you've got none (I'm using the Overcome one)
Backup your current build
Wipe data
Flash my build
Flash the Gapps
Reboot (may take a few minutes)
Enjoy
USB MTP:
As some people requested me to do a little How-to for enabling MTP-mode:
Go into the settings
Choose storage
Tap the 3 dots in the upper right (menu)
Choose "USB computer connection"
Check "Media device (MTP)"
Done
Notice:
This is a pure Android rom and no Samsung rom. There won't be any unneeded additions like TouchWiz, My Files, or whatever.
Look in the Market for other/better apps if you're seriously missing something. I won't any additions/apps/whatever to this rom except I want to use it myself (not gonna happen).

The display isn't flickering anymore and I didn't get any SODs anymore.
How suitable for everyday use is this build, beside of the above mentioned issues?
Gonna go ahead and subscribe to this and see what issues there are.
Not sure how much longer I can hold out for official CM9/ICS.

Now that the flickering is fixed and SOD, I'd say it's well suited for daily use.
P.S. It also seems to be alot smoother, and you now get Terbuchet settings. Only thing missing for me is the camera.
is it safe to overinstall over DaAwesome1's ICS Kang, or must I wipe?
Does anyone know please, whether the cm9 kernal supports undervolting?

Basically a wipe shouldnt be needed. Test share your experience.
Does Netflix work? I'm this close to jumping on this.
This is just a whole new CM9 from the build posted earlier. The old build worked very smooth, as long as you didnt fill it with lots of user apps and widgets then it became very laggy. I have now restored all my apps 250+ and its still silky smooth, i have widgets with sync on several windows and app shortcuts and it still behaves as if it where just installed (empty). this sure gives hope for our tab. Go CM Team and thanks to OP for posting this build.
This build is an improvement over the prior kang, seems the CM team has been busy over the holidays. Smoother UI, screen flickers are gone, definite daily driver material. Will report back if I run into any problems.

[Q&A] Q&A Thread for Evervolv Jellybean builds

To keep the development thread clean, this thread is meant to post any questions with regards to Evervolv's Jellybean builds for your Nexus One, such as "Has issue X been solved in build Y?", or "I have a problem X. Is anybody else experience the same?". The kind users on XDA will try to answer all your questions, or point you to the relevant location to solve/address your issue.
For general discussions about the Rom, please use this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1795954
Please don't forget to include as much details as possible to any questions (build number + release date, steps to reproduce the issue etc.).
Before you post a question, you should
1.) Search this thread
2.) Search the development thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1762790
if you can find an answer for your question.

First off, thanks for posting to the correct thread! Now, to answer your question: Since this Rom is in a real early stage development phase, there're a few "hacks" implemented to get things running. Personally I didn't tried to flash another kernel, nor am I a kernel dev. However, to ensure functionality it might be the best choice to stay with the released kernels for the moment. I know that's not the answer you wanted, but just my 2 cents.
Edit: Especially because you were asking for "smoothness".. The Evervolv team is working to the graphic related stuff "with priority". Many libs are broken or partitially incompatible. So I think another kernel won't change anything with regards to "smoothness". But we can expect updates on that soon.

Ah, thanks for the info. I got the N1 to play with and with a Galaxy Nexus as my primary device I can really feel the difference...which was of course expected I obviously haven't followed Evervolv's development in the past, just out of curiosity, how frequent are releases in general? I'm running AOKP on my GNex and they release approx every other week, so I'm hoping for something similar here.

Probably the best answer to get, is by looking at the release history of the Evervolv TexasIce Cream Sandwich thread (post 2 & 3): http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=19785288#post19785288
But don't expect weekly updates. Updates come, as Texasice think that it's worth to bump to a new build.
I didn't followed any AOKP projects.. But I know that some devs publish new builds for "every" commit they push to their repos to keep users up to date with the latest stuff. However, Evervolv is a small team of 3 devs and Texasice, who works on N1 stuff, additionally works on other devices and other stuff as well. From what I can see, he's pushing new releases when "something big" was fixed, or was improved, but not for every tiny change.
However, they build nightlies, too. So if you want, you could update every morning. But a better idea would be to follow the progress via their code review site and if you see any commit which you think you would like to have that, go ahead and grab the next nightly.
All Jellybean commits: http://review.evervolv.com/#/q/branch:jellybean,n,z
Jellybean commits that have been merged: http://review.evervolv.com/#/q/status:merged+branch:jellybean,n,z
Finally, you can find the source at GitHub and build yourself as often as you want. https://github.com/Evervolv
Lots of questions coming from me today I'm afraid... I am curious what everyone is doing to solve the Insufficient Space error. I posted a general question in the Q&A forum but I don't know if there's any particularities resulting from being on JB rather than GB (CM7).

There are no peculiarities to JB that I know of. All I had to do was enter a2sd install in Terminal (after getting SU there first). I assume you already had an sd-ext partition on your SD.
Hey guys....loving the Jelly Bean experience so far!!
Real silly question here...but what do 0p1, 0p2, 0p3 mean on the nightlies. Is it just releases?
Also is there somewhere we can see what changes are made to each nightly release?
Thanks!

p stands for pre-alpha (see it as pre-release) and the build number The JB build is just beginning TexasIce will come up hopefully soon with an alpha build once all the merging is completed
I'm coming from ICS as my daily driver, but hesitant on JB just yet.
Is the included Apps2SD working with xdata like the ICS version? I know that was an experimental feature, but it always works better for me than the normal install did.
Thanks,

I'm having serious stability issues and I just want to confirm what causing them...namely is it the ROM or perhaps a hardware issue. I've had the ROM set up and running three times now and each time (once over night, twice just having it sit around for an hour or so) it just freezes up and when I battery pull to reboot, almost all of my apps and settings have been erased. I've used the built in a2sd to move apps and dalvik to sd-ext, dunno if that could be part of the problem... Anyone else have similar issues? I'm thinking if it's not the ROM, it could be corrupt storage or something.
Is butter working in these builds?
This is more in response to your rant on the development thread than in relation to the ROM directly, but I was thinking it would possibly reduce the amount of posts about stuff not appropriate for the development thread if you could put a warning to come up when someone is writing a post for the thread asking if what they're writing is going to contribute to the development of the ROM and with links to this and the discussion thread suggesting them as more appropriate places to post. Dunno if that's possible, or if someone like you with lots of posts could suggest it as a solution to this problem that plagues so many threads?
Sent from my Nexus One using xda app-developers app
Another question which is more directly related to the ROM.
Is it possible for an option to be added to remap the soft keys? Such as remapping the search key to be a multitasking key as is in actual ICS phones?
I know I personally hardly ever use the search key but often use the multitasking features which would make it awesome to have that functionality!
Just a thought, thanks if you implement it!

Just wondering when TI will release next build. Am having trouble with notifications. I have pushed all the libs but still the video playing is broken. I really don't know what bexton has fixed but p1 with all fixes was just awesome. I know TI will incorporate all those stuffs so just waitimg eagerly for a p3.

Rom development has slowed but check back to make sure you have the latest version.

ROMBot's still isn't working for me (at least nothing is showing up for targa). Cool to see kexec working though.
So I played with the threshold rom a bit tonight and its alright. I'm gonna keep an eye on the updates though cause I swapped back to .232 ICS. JB is in its infancy for the bionic but give it time and it will mature.

The contents of that directory change frequently, and the targa files seem to have been removed. They are working on getting a non-kexec build of cm10 working and will then get back to the kexec builds once the codebase is stable.

I happened to still have them on my SDCard so here you go! This is the 07/28 nightly of CM10 with the JB Gapps zip you'll need to flash as well.

Thanks for posting the link. It has been removed from the developers site. From what I've read they want to button up there CM9 project so its finished and then they can put there full attention towards CM10. The latest Targa version was from 9-1-2012. They removed it about 6 days ago. I have it but haven't installed it yet. I don't have a way of uploading it if it works. I think data is better but still buggy in this update and so they took it down till they can get a better version out.
You can upload it with the dropbox app and link to your dropbox account for people to download. With android, there's always a way.

I haven't read or seen anything that shows this being built off ICS. Google speak works. It runs way smoother then ICS even as an alpha build. Because its KEXEC it can (and does) load a JB Kernal. People please correct my if I'm wrong. this is a quote from one of the developers, Hashcoe:

Either way this needs some polishing and we need to wait for an update anyway. I am going to keep an eagle eye on this CM10 project and keep everyone up to date as things progress. Thanks to the Devs Hashcode and dhacker29!!

What does it say when you go to System Settings > About Phone > Android Version?
If it's 4.0.x, then ICS; 4.1.x, JB.
It says 4.1.1
Things are getting stable!
CHANGES LOG:
[09/24] - Fixed more data bugs. It's MUCH improved.
[09/21] - Updates STOCK-base build. Added HWComposer, Camera function, fixed native cm10 wifi tether and CM10 updates
I've updated the links in my OP. I'm downloading it now. A big round of applause for dhacker29 and hashcode for their hard work on this!

[ROM][5.0.2][mb886] CyanogenMod 12.0 (Unofficial)

Hi guys,
I successfully built CM12 off the official cyanogenmod source. All of dhackers builds in the past have thrown status 1 errors on our phone, so this is the closest thing to official cyanogenmod lollipop we have at the moment.
All credit goes to dhacker29 and the rest of the razrqcom / cyanogen dev team. All I did was set up a build environment and built straight from the source. I used no hacks, tweaks or mods to get this to build.
I'll try to build new builds occasionally, but I'm pretty busy so can't commit to making regular nightlies or anything.
Code:
[B]Instructions:[/B]
Download the latest zip (cm-12-*-UNOFFICIAL-mb886.zip) to your phone.
Boot to recovery.
Remember to make a Nandroid backup!
Format /system. (Some recoveries have this as "Wipe Data/Factory Reset > Clean to Install a New ROM") (You can try doing a "dirty flash" without formatting system but I don't recommend it)
Install the ROM (install zip from...).
Install gapps (install zip from...).
Wipe data/cache
Reboot.
First boot can take some time due to ART in lollipop.

Please don't use SuperSU, it does not help the CM12 debugging at all (and it's been already reported as a cause of battery drain). The CM built-in su can be easily enabled under Developer options>Root access, it works just fine.

thanks for the rom.. will try it out and post feedback
Any known bugs?
Dirty updated from Miiju CM12 and seems to work fine. The ROM is smooth and solid. Reboot time is noticable longer than on Mijuu's build, maybe connected with the new bootscreen. Haven't noticed any bugs yet. Thanks for the great job.
PS. The new CM bootscreen is ugly  - imho of course. However, previous wasn't the masterpiece too .
Does this have the new theme engine? Good job bro you should maintain cm12 and let dhacker know.
Really laggy and random reboots
I made a clean flash of this build. It was smooth for first 30 to 40 seconds after that **** laggy and rebooted twice in 20 minutes.. i also experiences screen tearing. bugs are same as that of other builds though.
Great! I will try it tonight and report back. Thanks!

Theme engine implemented and works!
As far as being device maintainer, I'm definitely open to it but I'm not sure if I'm qualified enough to do it. If there were functional problems and things that break I don't really think I have the knowledge to fix those... All I really did here was follow some build guides and build this. But if you think that's all I need, I'll definitely consider it.

Aingaran I've also experienced some occasional reboots and force closes of google play services. Not so much the lag though. However, the rom seem significantly smoother if you use Launcher3 instead of Google Now launcher from my limited experience so far.

Good to hear Legza. Agreed on the bootscreen, I think it's better than the old one but that's not saying much

Nice job with the build, Im going to flash this thing tonight and report whats happening with this rom
Thank you for doing this for us.
Edit: Clean flashed rom without gapps: smooth as it should be, seems noticeably faster than LS
Now with Banks gapps: Still as fast with no random reboots yet. Looking great so far. I wonder if the bugs are gapps related for some of you people then.
Antutu benchmark for mb886: 19544, thats as fast as mijuus cm12, great job man.
Bugs: Chromecast cannot mirror, its the same OMX-720p error from log cat, its now a bug with dhackers builds. Mijuus doesnt have that at all, probably a hack . Im maybe wrong it could go away on its own. But its something to do with that which is causing the AvSource to fail with this error: w/err = -38
Overall this rom is as stable as it can be, there isn't any other bug I could find but that one, I did try mirror enabler for the previous one, it didn't affect anything. Speedy fast and simplistic, great job on this first build. Keeping that one as a daily driver until then.
Good job!
Thank you! :good:

Great feedback, thank you. I experienced the same thing- super stable without gapps. Might try flashing again with banks gapps.
If anyone wants to try out the CM recovery I built based on the latest source, here it is. I haven't tried it out yet since I'm happy with the philz touch build I have, but if you do flash it let me know how it works.

Try it with Banks, it makes your rom the way it is. I haven't even ran into a crash, I pushed this device pretty hard and its still not rebooting, came close though.
As for the future builds of this rom, maybe the problem will go away as time goes on, idk but I think I found a way around it.
Wow a cm recovery, but im happy for my philz but sooner or later this recovery will be needed to flash newer roms. Blisspop from droidrazr requires this recovery for some odd reason.
Plus its late for me anyway.
Great job on this rom and the recovery Thank you.:good:
Awesome, Thanks!
@helloha1 - Thanks for the build , It's really smooth :good: keep up the good work , Thanks to dev that helped to make this build i was tired of getting bootloops (blisspop & vanir) and otherdevs (laggy) builds ...
You really made my day
bugs ? isnt that too soon for cm12 to be bug free :silly:
users facing bugs probably because of CyanogenMod12
:good: :good: :good: :good:
Very impressive, good work adapting CM12 to work with our old phone.
Uploaded a new build. Don't think there are any big changes since yesterday.
Also switched hosting to XDA's DevDB.

Should just be whatever is called out in cmxlog in post 2.
As far as battery life, not sure. I used the phone all day today from about 10 to 9 and was at around 40% at the end of the day. Granted, I have an upgraded EB40 battery.

I'm sure there are. I haven't had any issues but i'm sure others will as they use their device differently than I do. To me they are just as stable as cm-12.0 nightlies though.

I'll be updating every night at about 11pm cst, like I did last night.
Well I like it I've had no trouble with it. I did a clean flash. I read on on there site that when 12.1 comes out they would like us to do a dirty flash I'm guessing to see if everything works. So as long as you keep updating I'll keep flashing. Thank you for this...
Whats different than 12.0 here?
Fix of memory leak I suppose?

What is it about that memory leak? I've read a lot, but never felt that phone lags, or hangs or whatever....

All I really know of are the improved quick settings features, a few animations, new security, HD voice calling, dual sim support, some contact app tweaks, and other various system tweaks. This is Android 5.1, I'm not sure of it but I think the memory leak is rumored to be fixed in Android 5.1.1.
Thanks for posting this nightlies up. Flashed on TMO latest GPE 5.1 firmware. Everything is working smooth.
Appreciate the builds. Having trouble with the included messaging app receiving MMS. Works fine with Hangouts though. Running it on Verizon. All else is smooth for my use.

There was absolutely nothing for our device merged since I updated last. So I'm going to cherry-pick a few things so at least there will be an update worth downloading. I'll be updating tomorrow morning instead of tonight.
I added an updated build with a few cherry-picks including the ability to change your screen density, for those who like to do that sort of thing.
