LG Optimus 2x Update tomorrow (UK) - LG Optimus 2x

Just been on phone to LG Support in regards to downloading and running the lg Software Update tool for the LG-P990 (Optimus 2x) and was told that an update was being released tomorrow. Didn't say which version it was though.
Not sure if to take this as a pinch of salt, especially as previously mentions of releases have never been on time.

Check the stickies "gingerbread updates".

cyanogen support

with cyanogen mod chosing the tmobile version of this phone, does that mean that the lg one, will get cyanogenmod support aswell ?
i am asking since i live in a country where the lg one is the only choise i got.
I think it will be relatively easy to port from the G2x to O2X and vice versa

What I wonder about is, that the G2x is featured with "4G-Support". When I look at the 2X I cant read anything about 4G... So maybe there isnt the same hardware in both phones?

it is the same

I think the phone themselves have the same hardware specs but supposedly the partitions are different (ext3 vs ext4).
Also flashing an O2X rom on a G2x results in no phone support (from my understanding).
Best answer is ask @cyanogenforum but im pretty sure they will port it to o2x aswell

isn't the current porting being done on the 2x?? As @CM_acree started it at the beginning of April.

GB avalible for G2x

Just saw on the g2x forum that official gingerbread is avalible for it. That hopefully means we shouldn't be that long after. Or, is it T-mobile that's making that firmware? Anyhow, it shouldn't be that hard to make it work on our phone. Atleast till LG releases theres.
Anyway, what's your thoughts? Should someone try to fix this for our device? Should be relativity easy. And if it is tmo that's making the FW, then I guess mkv support and such is gone. Pauls Gr1 is probably better in every way except maybe stability, which should interest someone atleast.
Looks gash to me, Gingerbread userspace atop Froyo kernel.
Just read Paul O'brien's tweet: "v21e rolling to the G2X... better late than never eh?"
Hopefully the update voor de 2X will follow soon.
Fingers crossed

Ive been using the GR1 from modaco site and it damn smooth, cant wait till other devs get there hands on it to tweak and kernel it, it will be MEGA
Some Italian site had the news of gb release in UK, anyone can confirm?

Don't worry optimus brothers and sisters... You aren't missing out on much! Its not an official update, by that I mean its not complete or supported by T-Mobile USA. As stated it still has a froyo kernel and the only thing that changed for me was faster GPS lock and faster boot time, otherwise cm7 is still the way to go. Also comes with stupid asop camera and only 2.3.3
I'm tired of LG!

Just wondering if this had anything to do with the class action lawsuits.
Anyone in the UK think we can return the handset under the sale of goods act as it said Upgradable to GB on the box but is still not upgradable?

[Q] region unlock

Does anyone know what the unlock code is for p999x which is the wind mobile version for the O2X cause i was trying to change the region on my phone so i could get the update for 2.3 through tmobile and just flash it and get rid of all their bloatware.
Ask in the G2X forum, this is for P990x O2X's.
Well I know that but I ask here, cause my phone is the optimus 2x not the g2x

P999x is just a variant of the p990 its the wind, version also known as the optimus 2x

No it's not, it's a G2X.
It might be called an O2X and have the LG UI, but hardware wise, it is the G2X (P999).
Lg canada calls this phone a p990 so yes it is a variant of optimus 2x

G2x is p999dw optimus 2x has the exact same hardware as g2x

No they don't have the same hardware, the radio is different.
Look at your phone's box, it is a P999.

It doesn't have the LG UI actually. It's got a stock like experience just like G2x P999.

Oh that's cool, just assumed being an O2X it would look like one.
Really didn't know that lol well no clue why lg hadn't released 2.3 up here yet then

Ics on thrill

ICS OS upgrade will be introduced from the second and third quarters of 2012.
Eligible phones include the lastest LG Optimus LTE, Prada phone by LG 3.0, LG Optimus 2X, and others in the Optimu series.
BY LG FACEBOOK
when will we get GB AND THEN ICS??
Do you know when??
thank you
People do magic
We'll most likely see a custom ICS ROM before at&t and LG release it, just like GB.

Anyone think LG / Tmobile will push Android L stock?

Guesses, educated or otherwise, are welcome.

I have faith in them. T-Mobile and LG have both been excelling as of late. Fully confident we'll see a bump to 5.0. G3 got the update before other Nexus devices - Very good sign.
I think it's likely. Both the L9 and L9 2 have got their official updates after their original official version of Android...
