I was disappointed when Yahoo mail could not be setup on the DS7. I did not want to install the Yahoo Mail app just to have mail, so I did a little research and found that you can setup Yahoo mail manually with the following settings.
To set up IMAP on your mobile device please use these settings:
•Incoming Server - imap.mail.yahoo.com
•Outgoing Server - smtp.mail.yahoo.com
•Incoming Port - 993 (requires SSL)
•Outgoing Port - 465 (requires SSL/TLS)
•Username: full email address (for example, [email protected] or [email protected])
•Password: the password you login to Yahoo! with.
For step by step instructions, see this article.

I believe pop3 is only available for paid member.
I was pretty shocked to see that it doesn't support HTTP: mail accounts too...
Anybody have the same kind of setup info for Hotmail?

Hotmail can be setup with automatic wizards just fine... I am not sure why you need to set it up manually.
Yahoo is an IMAP email system... the free ones... follow the OP's guide.

Hi
I am trying to configure an Alpine to download AOL mail.
I have used the following settings:-
Incoming:IMAP.aol.com
Outgoing:SMTP.aol.com
Username and passoword is correct.
I recieve the error:
Unable to connect to the incoming mail server.
Has anyone else managed to get their AOL webmail onto the Alpine?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Does AOL offer POP3 mail downloads? You mention its webmail, which doesn't necessarily mean it has an SMTP and POP3 server available.
aol mail working
I've had aol mail working on my spv1500 for a while now my settings are
username: Your email without the @aol.com
password: your password
account type: imap4
Name: AOL
incoming server: imap.aol.com
outgoing server: smtp.aol.com:587
under options on page 2 check outgoing mail requires authentication
These settings work for me but I only use wireless connection
Many thanks
It worked.
I really need help here, I want to be able to access my email on my diamond via its OUTLOOK. I have my own website which i am starting up so i have my own email address with my own domain. I want to be able to recieve email onto my diamond via outlook on it so i can also sort the files into folders.
I dont have exchange or anything like that
here are the details of my account, any help. I do not wish to sync with my Laptop at this moment as it just got stolen. So ill be without one for a while. But i really need my email any help
Mail Server Username: xxxxxxxx.com
Incoming Mail Server: mail.xxxxx.com
Incoming Mail Server: (SSL) hp1x.xxx.com
Outgoing Mail Server: mail.xx.com (server requires authentication) port 587
Outgoing Mail Server: (SSL) hp1x.xx.com (server requires authentication) port 465
Supported Incoming Mail Protocols: POP3, POP3S (SSL/TLS), IMAP, IMAPS (SSL/TLS)
Supported Outgoing Mail Protocols: SMTP, SMTPS (SSL/TLS)
So you dont need outlook.
Just set it up as a new imap mail account using the correct credentials.
but can i add folders to manage it? (and if possible sync with outlook later)
I want to be able to view my emails alter\reply place in folders on the go and then re-sync when at home or something like that
so i can receive emails but not be able to send them from my x1.
any idea?
it's yahoo.com acc
You will need to install the Windows Mobile 6.1 SMTP Send fix. Search for it in Microsoft Support downloads.
downloaded the cab and installed it; still no go, can't send emails but able to receive them.
can someone show me the way to configure the settings manually step by step?
Hi
I never needed to install any smtp fixed in order to have my X1 send yahoo mail... I am using yahoo.co.uk, my settings are:
incoming server: pop.mail.yahoo.co.uk
Outgoing server: smtp.mail.yahoo.co.uk
username: [email protected]
password: your password (!)
Outgoing mail server requires auth: Ticked
Use same username/password: Ticked
Require SSL for incoming email: Ticked
Require SSL for outgoing email: Ticked
Additionally, I use the 'Contract Internet' profile, and I had to remove the proxy value to get it to work (I am on Voda UK).
Note: The auto setup which the unit tries to do after you enter your email address and hit next will NOT pre-fill the correct details. Do it manually... if it refuses to let you do it manually, enter the email addr wrong i.e [email protected], complete all the settings then go and correct the email address.
Additionally, check that your yahoo account is correctly configured to allow pop3/smtp access via the usual web interface.

sfkn2, thank you for replying to me i have been going crazy for days about this i even went to my network provider and the place where i bought the phone and called sony ericsson but they couldnt find the reason and solution to this problem of mine... so thank you very much for replying to me
Where do i input the 865 port for outgoing?
here is my email set up:
email addres: [email protected]
name: jennifer dar
account display name: yahoo!
incoming mail server: imap.mail.yahoo.com
account type: IMAP4
username: jennifer_dar
password:*********
save passwork: CHECK MARK
outgoing (SMTP) mail server: smtp.mobile.mail.yahoo.com
outgoing server requires authentication: CHECK MARK
use the same username and password for sending email: CHECK MARK
Require SSL for incoming email: UNCHECKED
require SSL for outgoing email: UNCHECKED
Network connection: The Internet
where in the settings should i input the port for outgoing?

Hello everyone I keep getting an error when setting up my yahoo email account with the stock email client.
-i manually choose IMAP and configure my settings to imap.mail.yahoo.com
and leave everything else as is but i still get username and password is incorrect! I have checked my username and password how many times and still not correct!!
has any one got this going for the galaxy s phones?
I haven't had any trouble setting up Yahoo Mail. I've tried stock email, K-9, and the Yahoo Mail app.
Have you tried doing it with automatic settings?
yea i tried using the stock automatic settings but still no go....
i just updated to att 2.2 firmware. mines not rooted.
Strange. For my incoming server, I've got the same IMAP as you, Security Type SSL (if available), Authentication type Plain, Port 993
Also, for Username, I just have my prefix without the @yahoo.com part
All I can think of otherwise is try the Yahoo Mail client or K-9 and see if those work.

SMTP server: smtp.mobile.mail.yahoo.com
Security: None
Port: 25
Require sign-in (checked)
Authentication: Plain
Username: again, just the prefix
This is what i found on the Yahoo Mail web page
After entering my yahoo name and password then i went to manual and followed the bottom inputs
IMAP is another way you can get Yahoo! Mail on your phone. Using IMAP you can download messages with your mobile client, so you can access your mail even when not connected to the mobile Internet.
How to set up Yahoo! Mail with your mobile client using IMAP
On your phone, press < Home >, then open the Email application.
On the 'Your accounts' page, select Next to get started with setup.
Enter your full Yahoo! address and password, then select Next.
On the next screen, you can give the account a nickname and choose the name to display on your outgoing messages. Tap Done.
If prompted, supply the following information:
Incoming Server - imap.mail.yahoo.com
Incoming Port - 993 (requires SSL)
Outgoing Server - smtp.mail.yahoo.com
Outgoing Port - 465 (requires SSL)
Username: full email address ([email protected])
Password: is the password you login to Yahoo! with
I just used Maildroid. Put in user name/password. All there is to it. Yahoo is now pushed to your phone. Also works for gmail, never tried hotmail/rocket mail.
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App
i personally like the Yahoo! mail app. It used to be soooo slow on Eclair but on Froyo no problems.
