Any explanation would be nice? I don't think a lot of people go about flashing something in CWM without any information at all.

Since he's put restore, my guess is it's a clean NAND backup.
Sorry I thoutgh it was self explained. Yes its a clean but rooted nandroid backup. As I said you unzip it at the root directory of your sd card (/sdcard) and while in clockworkmod go to backup and restore my backup

When you do a backup via ClockworkMod recovery, are the efs files included?
e.g. Theoretically would restoring a nandroid backup fix a broken IMEI?
I've searched and found conflicting reports.
Many thanks

it really depends on how you made your nadroid back-up.
there are a couple of options when doing a nandroid back up.
if you select the "ALL" method then it will back up your system files as well as your EFS folder.
go try making a back up to see it for yourself via cwm.

Thanks for your reply. I tried to create a backup, but it seems my recovery is 3e rather than 2e so I can't. From what I've read I need a modified kernel with 2e. Does that mean I need to risk a flash before I can even backup?

wait.. back up a bit.. you said your were using clockworkmod recovery.. but now you're stating that you are using 3e recovery.
i was giving you instructions on how to do a nandroid back up in cwm recovery. i haven't touched 2e and 3e in ages.
go get cwm recovery and do the back up there.

If you look at the list on the 1. page, there's no efs.img, meaning you don't have a backup of /efs.
I think in order for cwm to take backup of efs, you have to use the newest custom kernels, as they include cwm customised for I9000. If you use the backup option on Rom Manager you'll have problems later.
I see i just scripted it to my pc and external sd perhaps thinking about putting it in a swizerland vault ;-)

ClockWorkMod Recovery does not support backing up of /efs partition yet. You should do it manually.
Is it possible to extract only /efs from the nandroid backup and more important to me, will an "old" backup do the job to restore an imei.
Re efs backup
Use online nandroid manager it backs up efs and whatever else you want. You can choose or let it do it's thing. :cyclops:

If you backup whole build, yes it does.
It is nevertheless a good idea to backup your efs folder separately, by using ADB or with terminal emulator.

Finally managed to pull the bml5 file out, but I've been informed that even with the code one cannot unlock the phone when the cm7 mod is installed. Is there perhaps a way to install stock rom on a partition and unlock there or even if I revert back to stock rom and back up this one will the unlock code still work (once I find it that is)?

Yes, you can go to stock and then come back to cm7... Just make a backup of your rom and then
Flash GB..
Unlock Your device...
Flash CWM recovery
Flash CM7 (new/clean install) in CWM
Wipe data amd cache...
[You can check if your sim is unlocked or not; Also doing a nandroid won't harm]
Then use advance restore and restore data and sd-ext i.e. CWM Menu>>Backup and Restore>>Advance restore>>Data and sd-ext

I have two zips of baseband (823-V21b-Baseband.zip, 824-V20f-Baseband.zip) that I want to try to install it in my phone. There are in the sd card (it works perfect in Android).
It's rare: in other phone, LG Optimus Sol I can access to sd card when I click in 'install zip in sdcard', but I can't do it in LG 2x Optimus now
You can't install basebands using CWM. You need Smartflash for that. I believe there's a sticky thread at the Development section about that.

Use an USB adapter and do a back up form your sd to your pc, you can use apps as titanium backup to backup your data/apps or you can do it manually using whatever browser you want that allow you to manage system partition....
To create a swap patition you will need to use gparted, minipartition tools or do it via recovery in order to get a swap partition or simply using swapper app from Google Play and avoiding create partitions and obviusly a kernel that support it (BE, CF-ROOT e.g.)

first download any root browser and go to data/media/clockworkmod/backup and check if the backup in there , if not then go to your sdcard and check lost.dir folder and check the lost.dir folder on internal storage , check the size of the files in it , if the size is big ( approximately = size of the backups ) then your backup is been lost and not deleted and u can recover it easily
i wish u can find your backup bro

But beware is you on a older version of recovery you cant restore it because of a md5 mismatch and twrp wil not reconize the nandroid unless you change the format of the backup

The backup already is there, but as I installed the ROM the phone switched from CWM recovery to Team Win Recovery project, and it can't find the backup! I downloaded ROM manager and chose CWM as the recovery program, but everytime the phone boots into recovery it launches TWRP, which does not find the backup. The backup was easily found in ROM manager and it told me that it would turn of my phone and get back to the old 4.3, as soon as it turned back on it launched TWRP and it did not do anything -_-
